Help needed with flash and web service call

Hi all,
I need some help with web services and flash. I'm very new to flash, so please have that in the back of your mind when reading this :-)
I've got a .swf file, and I would like to display a number received from a web service (using adobe flash professional cs5). Ive added the web service and provided the WSDL, but when i try to "Add Method Call", nothing happens. Why? What am I doing wrong?

start with the button that causes the text to be displayed. find what it does (which may not be easy because most templates are coded by novice or intermediate level coders) and follow that trail to the text. (note: the text may be in a txt or xml file that's loaded.)
to have a button release open a file, use:

Help needed with header and upload onto business catalyst

Can someone help with a problem over a header please?
I have inserted a rectangle with a jpeg image in background, in the 'header' section, underneath the menu. It comes up fine on most pages when previsualised, going right to the side of the screen, but stops just before the edge on certain pages. I have double checked that I have placed it in the right place in relation to the guides on the page.
That's one problem.
The second problem is that I tried to upload onto business catalyst, which got to 60% and refused to go any further, saying it couldn't find the header picture, giving the title and then u4833-3.fr.png. The picture is in the right folder I have double checked. And it isn't a png. Does it have to be ?
And the third problem is that I got an email following my upload from business catalyst in Swedish. I am living in France.

How can I check the preview in other browsers before I publish a provisional site with BC?
The rectangle width issue happens on certain pages but not others. The Welecom page is fine when the menu is active, also the contact page, but others are slightly too narrow. Changing the menu spacing doesn’t help - I was already on uniform but tried changing to regular and back.
In design mode the rectangle is set to the edge of the browser, that’s 100%browser width right?
Re BC I have about 200 images on 24 different pages and it seems to be having difficulty uploading some of them. But it has managed a couple I named with spaces but not others I named with just one name.
Is there an issue on size of pictures ? If I need to replace is there a quick way to rename and relink or do I have to insert the photos all over again?
I’m a novice with Muse with an ambitious site !

Answering the questions :
- Have you checked the preview in Muse and also in other browsers ?
- Does the rectangle width issue happens when menu is active , or in any specific state , Try to change the menu with uniform spacing and then check.
- In design view the rectangle is set to 100% browser width ?
With publishing :
- Please try to rename the image file and then relink
- If it happens with other images as well , see if all the image names includes strange characters or spaces.
- Try again to publish
With e-mail from BC :
- Under preferences , please check the country selected.
- If you have previously created partner account in BC and selected country and language then it would follow that, please check that.

Help needs to build this web service and do this exercise

Exercises :
1) Develop customer profile web service as below: which having two methods saveCustomer and retrieveCustomer
Customer infomation data structure as follows
CustomerID :string
Name :string
phoneNumber : int
Address : Object which contain(home number(int), street(string), town(string))- Complex type object
Age: int
LastBalance: double
Ex1:
you send the SOAP request (in your web service call) with customer id or phone number the web service should return customer information and display as system out.
Note Just hard code customer dummy data inside web service method call getCustomerData which return the customer object.
Ex2
Compose customer object (java object) in client side and send via web service using web service save method to write to a data to text file in server side (in your case same machine , but it create by customer profile web service not the web service client)
Objective of this exercise is to understand web service / soap complex and simple variable types and how to exchange those with SOAP request and response.
Exercise 3:
send some wrong customer id or phone number as input to webservice method "retrieveCustomer" and generate error and send it via SOAP fault to client and display it

Error during EAR deployment with EJB and web service

I created a simple stateless EJB with one method called echo that returns a string. I created a web service using the wizard, did a build and deployed. The deployment did not report an error, but the logs in the visual administrator showed the follwoing message, and the web service did NOT deploy.
Am I missing something related to EJB and web service security?

J2ME and web services call (rpc)

I need consume a web services with a blackberry app and his methods has the style "enconded/rpc" instead of "document/literal". Is it possible? I used the stub generator from WTK 2.5.2 but i encounter a error.

Help dealing with Firewall, and URL Services

All,
We have recently installed the PDK URL Services for Portal to help
fulfill a requirement to enable Single Sign-On to access web sites
outside our client's network. We have hit a snag though, in that the
client has in place a firewall that challenges the browser at each
request to access an outside site. URL Services does not seem equipped
to handle these extra challenges in addition to the Single Sign-On
Username and Password requirements.
Has anyone dealt effectively with this problem? Is there an effective
remedy or technique using SSO /URL Services providers that will allow
this to take place? Can we more effectively use the built in proxy
services to help us with this?
We are currently using the latest URL Services download under Portal
3.0.9.8.2 on Solaris.

Issue with making multiple web service calls without ccBPM

I have an issue -
Sync call from ECC -> check global param if EMPTY
                                -> if NOT EMPTY call Web service 1
                                     -> parse the return value
                                     -> call Web Service 3 ( pass the value from global param in the SOAP header to WS3)
                                     -> pass the return value back to ECC
                               -> if EMPTY call Web Service 2
                                    -> parse the return value
                                    -> call Web Service 3 ( pass the value from WS2 in the SOAP header to WS3)
                                    -> pass the return value back to ECC
Is it possible to design this scenario without using ccBPM? To start with, I can always read the global parameter but cannot find a way to read the response from WS1 or WS2 and pass it to WS3 without a ccBPM. Even if I use a ccBPM I still have the issue of passing the value (either global param or WS2 return val) in the SOAP Header to WS3.
If I open a S/A bridge, all the subsequent WS calls are converted to async calls. Not sure how that will work out.
For the last step, looks like I might have to manually build the data types without using the WSDL (XML SOAP envelope rather than a WSDL) to generate the Service Interface to prevent the Adapter from building the envelope. Is there any other way that I havent investigated?

Business Connector problem with SSL and Web Services

Hi,
I have generated a Web Connector Service and tested this in our DEV and QA environment with http and no credentials.
All is fine.
I now switched to SSL and was provided with an https WSDL by our Web Server developers. The Web Connector service generates fine however as soon as I execute the service I get a NumberFormatException. Exact error is:
java.io.IOException:java.lang.NumberFormatException: null
The error occurs in pub.client:http
I traced through the working (in QA) and non-workinfg versions and checked the pipeline prior to the call and can see no different apart from the difference in protocol.
Does anyone have any idea what the cause is? I cannot determine what value is null.

Newbie - help needed with array and dictionary objects

Hi all
Please see the code below. I've posted this code in another thread however the original issue was resolved and this is now a new issue I'm having although centered around the same code.
The issue is that I'm populating an array with dictionary objects. each dictionary object has a key and it's value is another array of custom objects.
I've found that the code runs without error and I end up with my array as I'm expecting however all of the dictionary objects are the same.
I assume it's something to do with pointers and/or re-using the same objects but i'm new to obj-c and pointers so i am a bit lost.

Ok, so I know what the issue is now...I just don't know enough to be able to resolve it!
it's the tempAuthors objects.
It's an NSMutableArray which is create on the line before the start of the WHILE loop.
Having looked through the debugger, I can see that each dictionary object is created (with different codes which I assume are memory addresses) so all is well there. However, on each iteration of the loop in the middle there is an IF...ELSE... statement which in the ELSE section is clearing all objects from the tempAuthors array and beginning to repopulate it again.
Looking at the containing dictionary objects in the debugger I can see that the tempAuthors object that each contains has the same code (again, I'm assuming this is a memory address) - so if I understand correctly, it's the same object...I assumed that when I created the dictionary using the dictionWithObject call that I would be passing in a copy of the object, but it's referencing back to the object which I then go on to change.
Assuming the above is correct, I've tried several "stabs in the dark" at fixing it.
I've tried relasing the tempAuthors object within the ELSE and initialising it again via an alloc...init - but this didn't work and again looking through the debugger it looks as though it was confused as to which object it was supposed to be using on the following iteration of the WHILE loop (it tried to access the released object).
Having read a little more about memory management can someone tell me if I'm correct in saying that the above is because the tempAuthors object is declare outside the scope of the WHILE loop yet I then try to re-instantiate it within the loop (does that make sense???).
Sorry for the long post...the more I can understand the process the less I can hopefully stop relying on others for help so much.

...I earnestly urge the Oracle gurus to help me with my issueWell most of the 'gurus' on this forum are not Oracle employees and can't really help to resolve this. We can only offer suggestions. There's no link from this forum to an Oracle manager. The only direct contact to Oracle is through creating an SR -- and that's generally for issues specifically with certification rather than with OE training.
That said, I used to work for Oracle. If there is any time not to have high expectations for customer service it's in December. The vast majority of employees take a significant percentage of their annual vacation that month. If I were to hazard a guess at what caused at least some of your issues, I'd say you got at least somewhat caught up in that.They also do a lot of system maintenance in December. I didn't work for OE but rather for Support, but I'd suspect they are similar. Towards the end of December, the place resembled a ghost town.
I haven't used OE's online interface to order training. I just tried it a minute ago (up to the point where I was going to start committing to things I don't want, anyway) and I don't see how this much confusion can be generated. Since you indicated they used your credit card information for payment, I don't grasp why they would have any reason to talk to the company you are currently contracting for.
Regardless of how it happened, Brandye (the moderator and an Oracle employee) might be able to suggest something specific. My own suggestion would be to grit your teeth and order again (the interface appears to be up). Provide only contact numbers/addresses to you and put 'Independent Contractor' down as the company. They really want to sell you the training. I'm confident that you'll be able to... eventually.

Thanks for letting us know that your book is available. I have been following one of your articles about "Virtualize Your Oracle Database with Web Services". More specifically "The Database as Web Services Consumer". I think that this is an area that has in the past been under estimated as to the potential benefits.
I am currently trying to develop a solution that consumes several interfaces with a couple of them being published web services, so an ideal solution. I have then spent the last three weeks having to read up about the architecture of Java in the database, Jpublisher and make sense of how it all works together.
I have got very close to getting one of the web services to work but failed due to using 10gR2 where all the java & libraries has moved to version 1.5. The solution is to load the jdk1.4.2 and configure jpublisher to use this. So far so good except this is not available on some platforms, Windows - 64 bit (not itanium).
The configuration is proving very challenging but will hopefully reap rewards.
(Thought I would give you some background to my experience).
Anyway my question to you is having looked at Jdeveloper it appears to do almost anything except consume services into the database, also with Java now being at version 1.5 outside the database for 10gR2 and supporting 1.4 inside, do you see some alignment of these in future database releases?
Finally off to buy your book now as no doubt there is a huge amount more to learn.

Help needed with doubles and integers

I just want to start telling all you that you have been a big help to me the last couple of months. Now, for my issue. I'm having a problem doing some work with doubles and integers. Below is the code I've tried. But, I keep getting mismatch types. I need num3 to fill in a JTextField by the end with the answer for the calc. Num2 is fill in from a JTextField with a double.
Int num1 = 0, num4 = 0, num3 = 0;
double num2 = 0, totint = 0;
for(count = 0; num4 < count; count++)
totint = (1 + num2);
System.out.println(totint);
num3 = double (num1 * totint);
String k = Integer.toString(num3);
tf3.setText(k); (This is a JTextField)
Test data
num1 = 10000
num2 = 3.4
num4 = 4
num3 = the value from the calc

First of all, your for loop is never going to run.
for (count = 0; num4<count; count++)
totint = (1 + num2);
System.out.println(totint);
num4 = 4 and will not be less than count, so the for loop will not be executed.
Second, what exactly are you trying to accomplish here. The way you have your code set up, the for loop (if it were to execute) would print out 4.4 each time it passes, then do the calculation. You may need to rethink your objective.

Help needed with flash gallery

Hi all, I am a graphic gesign student and I am working on my
online portfolio, I want to make the gallery with flash, I can make
a thumbnail viewer with simple thumbs but I want them to be
annimated when the mouse is rolled on snd off the thumbnail, but
this means I am unable to show an enlarged version of the thumbnail
when clicked using the method I usually used. The main problem is
that when one thumbnail is clicked the other become innactive (it
may be a simple problem but I am new to flash)
If someone could just get 2 thumbnails working I can do the
rest, or just a simple set of instructions....anything!!
Please help my deadline for this project is fast approaching
and I am completely stuck!!! I have included my fla and swf files
to show the problem...thank you ....jon

Help needed with consolidating and moving itunes folder.

I have imported songs into itunes using with the Copy Files To iTunes Folder When Adding To The Library box unchecked and moved the location of my music folder to an external hard drive. I already had a folder full of music files on this hard drive so I now have 2 folders with music files, the iTunes folder with music recently imported from cd's and the old folder. The library points to references to both of these folders but not ALL of the files in the old folder as I don't need them in iTunes.
I now want to be able to listen to my iTunes library when not connected to the external drive. How do I do this? If I reset the location of my iTunes folder back to the macbook do I then need to consolidate, and if I do will only the files with reference pointers go into this folder? I don't want all the music files in the old folder to go onto the macbook, only the ones with reference pointers to them, plus the ones in the iTunes music folder.

Help needed with hatches and fill patterns

Hi,
I'm trying to do an architectural drawing of a building in illustrator. I have the geometry set up in rhino and exported it but I now need to add the brick and pavement patterns to the geometries But I've no idea how to do it accurately?
I'll attach the drawing as a jpeg as is now so you can see what I mean. Excuse the messiness, still very much a work in progress

envelope distort might be teh easiest way.
you could also try using the perspecting grid, but matching the plane can be a pain and sometimes the forshortening is completely the oppositie of what it should be.
so i'd do envelope. draw the face you want to fil. draw a square with the same proportions of the face you want to fill. fill that square with your pattern at the size that they should be. move that square behing the shape of your plane. then make envelope distort with obejct on top.
mask out the holes in the shape as needed with a clipping mask or solid shapes.
play with the envelope handles to adjust for perspective foreshortening.
