Help on Ibots

Hello,
I need your inputs on this scenario, some times these ibots worry me with these kind of issues.
Lets say I have a report A which results in No data, If I schedule this report A with a Conditional request also being A every day. Will this Ibot be successful? Generally it should be successful with report saying No data right??
Please drop me your inputs on this, Thanks a lot.

OK, assuming you've seen the "Deliver this message when no records are returned by the conditional request" section under the Delivery Content tab and it's not working, try this:
1) Design a small report that is what you wish the report to look like when no records are produced for Report A. I'm not talking about configuring the "No Results" view, but creating an actual report. You can use the same title, etc. but have a column that rather than displays a column value, has text that indicates "there are no records for this report."
2) Create a "NIL ibot" for this report except don't schedule it. You can make this report type "PDF."
3) Now go back to the ibot for Report A and in the Advanced tab, click on the button "Add Action" under the "Execute these actions when no records are returned by the conditional request" wording.
4) Choose iBot and have it point to the NIL iBot created in step 2.
When Report A produces no records, it will fire the NIL iBot which has the NIL report as an attachment. The user will get the report even if Report A produces no records.

Help on - IBOT report to be generated once and then sent to many users.

Hello All,
I need some advice to make Ibot efficient. The Ibot at my institution is configured to send a specified report to many users and group. The problem now is the report is generated for every user and then sent to individual user, which takes a lot of time and limits the usage of the resources to other.
Is it possibel that a report which has to be mailed to many users can be generated once and then sent to all the recipients?

. Do you have the complete application suie of the Audigy SE installed?
2. If so, in Control Panel do you have the Audio Console or Audio Control Panel?
3. If you do, change the settings for Decoder Settings to SPDIF passthrough. (THis is however only of AC-3 content, it doesn't affect other formats) (I am not sure the Audigy SE does have a decoder, if not, you need to change the setting in the AC-3 decoder you use)
4. Then go to Device settings and change the Digital Output sampling rate to 48kHz.
Now if you cannot find Audio Console, then you should download the latest drivers. They specifically state they allow you to change the "SPDIF output Sampling rate", so you should be able to access the option. I believe your problem lies to the fact your SPDIF is configured for 96kHz output and most probably these very old speakers do not support more than 48kHz.
PS: The instruction I posted above, are based on an Audigy 2 ZS setup, so the naming of the settings and access programs could be different on the SE, but nevertheless present.

IBot - How to impersonate as multiple users

Experts,
Below is my requirement.
I would like to run an iBot when ETL finishes loading the data. This iBot should seed the cache for say 5 users.I have 2 dashboards and multiple pages within a dashboard.
I know by selecting the checkbox for seeding in Destination tab, I can seed the cache.
How can i seed it for 5 users and for all my dashboards?

The ibot will run 5 times on behalf of your users. Do you want to send a different dashboard to each user or something ? I was under the impression you want to send the same dashboard to each user?
EDIT - Looking at your OP, you want to seed the cache, the ibots will do this. When the user comes to view the dashboard in OBIEE, the dashboard will fire all queries, if cache is available it will hit the cache automatically.
My last comments where geared towards sending the dashboards as a content, ie PDF or similar, this isnt what you where asking so sorry for the confusion

Ibots still sending the old email list

Hi,
I am using the SA System subject area for delivers and configured the ibots using the conditional request. Here are the steps which I followed
1.Configured one iibot first time, conditional request provides 3 email IDs with 3 different logons and all 3 email accounts were getting the emails. Which is perfectly ok.
2. I went into the DB SA_SYSTEM table and modified one of the email address for one of the logon out of 3 logon.
3. I ran the same ibot again and I am still getting the emails to the same old email account which were configured in step1 not as per step 2 changes.
Has anyone faced this kind of issue. Please help, why ibots are not responding to the changed email addresses.
Note:- I have already disabled the table level caching for SA System subject area.

In job manager i just see the ibots status as completed. There is no other detail. Any idea where to trace the ibots in details.

Duplicate emails are coming through Ibots. Can you any help how to resolve

One of our user is receving Duplicate emails through Ibots for scheduled reports.
I am not fully aware of Ibots. Can any one help me how to resolve this.

I'd imagine that email address is being picked up twice, be it as a delivery profile against two different users, or the ibot is being sent to a group they belong to AND them directly (or two groups they belong to).

Error While saving a iBot

Hi All ,
I am getting the below error while saving a iBot.
Oracle BI Scheduler Error: [nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: S1C00 code: 106 message: [Microsoft][ODBC Excel Driver]Optional feature not implemented . at stage of execute transaction command with data source: Procurement_Demo
I am using xls as a datasource to create Repository. I have created scheduler tables for iBot in the same datasource.
Can i not use XLS as a datasource for iBot?
If i can use , what is the solution of this problem.

Hi Vivek,
Please close your SharePoint Designer application, clear/delete the cached files and folders under the following directories from your server installed SharePoint Designer, then check results again.

Error while saving Ibot

Hi im using siebel analytcis.
I have created those tables required for configuring the scheduler in the database, i am able to start my scheduler services also.
But when i try to save an ibot, the following error comes:
Siebel iBots Server Error: [nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: S1000 code: 1456 message: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-01456: may not perform insert/delete/update operation inside a READ ONLY transaction . [nQSError: 16015] SQL statement execution failed. at stage of execute transaction command with data source:

OBI EE Delivers - iBot running..never ends

Hi all,
I installed OBI EE and followed all of the instructions to set up Scheduler, Job Manager and so on.
I was able to submit an iBOT "immediately", setting as destination DASHBOARD,
but in Job Manager the submitted iBOT remains "running" forever,
therefore the "Alerts" link never appears in the dashboard.
I also looked at the database sessions, but I cannot see any active session related to the iBOT.
I even gave DBA privilege to the S_NQ_SCHED database user,
but it seems to be useless.
I also started the Oracle Job Scheduler service (my pc o.s. is Windows XP)
but it does not help.
Any clue ?

I look at 'My Account' for my Dummy obi ee user and I see 3 System Emails listed.
But when I view them they all have the same email address.
But in the SA_SYSTEM_USER table I have 3 completely different email address/records.
Again, I will state, in the SA_SYSTEMS Table I have 3 completely different emails!!!
This was my insert statement:

To my understanding, and this is what I would like assistance with. Is if I have 3 DIFFERENT emails address in the SA SYSTEM table, shouldn't the 3 different emails be listed in the DOVICO_GROUP2's "My Account" ?
Instead, I get 3 emails listed, but when I view them they are the same one.
Again, assistance would be appreciated.

One ibot for multiple reports (or all reports in one topic/folder)

Thanks for that. I wonder how to prove that the caching worked or that is has been done.
I noticed the .TBL files in the cache directory but that does not tell me much. Using OBI Administration and looking at the cache on the physical layer
did not help me either understand how all reports in my dashboard are now cached by running the ibot at midnight.
Out of the BI Answers, Delivers and Dashboards manual:
"NOTE: The Oracle BI Server maintains its own cache. This cache is separate from the Oracle BI
Presentation Services cache.
When you select a specific dashboard or request, Oracle BI Presentation Services checks its cache
to determine if the identical results have recently been requested. If so, Oracle BI Presentation
Services returns the most recent results, thereby avoiding unnecessary processing by the Oracle BI
Server and the back-end database. If not, the request is issued to the Oracle BI Server for
processing."
So basically I want to know how I can see that BI Presentations Services has
really cached the reports in my dashboard i.e. if my ibot works

Format of CSV file generated through iBot

What is the default format of csv file generated through iBot (UNICODE / UTF) ?
How can we configure a single iBot to generate CSVs, for example, in UTF format instead of UNICODE (assuming UNICODE is default).

Currently the CSV format in Agents always delivers the report results in tab delimited CSV. Is there a setting that can make the report result in a comma delimited CSV format when the reports are setup via Agents/iBots?
Fix
There is no setting that would make CSV output from an iBot be comma delimited as opposed to the tab delimited output from the web UI.
There is an enhancement request for this functionality. for more information, see bug 13802667 - COMMA DELIMITED CSV FORMAT FOR AGENTS/IBOTS has been logged to include this feature in future release.
As a work-around, you can to run a custom script from an Agent to convert tabs to commas. See chapter 4 (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e18562/schedjobscripts.htm#BABGFBBD) of Oracle® Fusion Middleware Scheduling Jobs Guide for Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition 11g Release 1 (11.1.1) Part Number E18562-01 for more information on writing custom scripts.

Could you Clear the browser cache and re-load the page or log in to OBIEE.
if its not working then try to Re-deploy the Analytics Application, using the file $Middleware_Home\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\jee\analytics.ear

Regarding ibot implementation in obiee 11g

i followed some links to configure ibots .
when i run it i get the error shown below.
AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
Invalid subscribers skipped: weblogic AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
Device (dashboard) is not set in (weblogic) delivery profile.
AgentID: /users/weblogic/test_ibot
[nQSError: 75005] Failed to send AUTH command. 5.7.3 Authentication unsuccessful.
please help me to solve this problem.

Userid and password that we use to connect to the SMTP server - in short ex- Microsoft Outlook
You may check this with your admin - if uid and pwd is really required to connect to your smtp - if not then like i said earlier- just follow the 2nd step from that blog.
Whenever you do a change in em - restart the BI services and test.

but they want conditional ibot .
i have seen it but not able to understand since they want condition on the value of rows not on count of rows.
please help me how to create it.

Hi,
First about the functionality of the conditional request: On the conditional request tab of the iBot you can read:
Select a request which will trigger the current iBot. This request may be refined further by creating subquery filters. The iBot is considered triggered if the conditional request returns one or more rows
This means that the delivery content of the iBot will only be sent when the conditional request returns one or more rows.
Ex:-
scheduling the iBot: you can set the recurrence of the iBot to Monthly. This means that every month the iBot will be run.
So, what if you use a conditional request in your Monthly iBot? Every month it will first run the conditional request, when this conditional request will return rows, the iBot will be triggered and will sent the delivery content of the iBot, otherwise the delivery content won't be sent.
To make it more clear: this doesn't mean that once the conditional request is met, the iBot will be run monthly forever, but every month the results of the conditional request will be checked.

Error while running saschinvoke program for running the ibots created.

I am here trying to run the script with Oracle unix user with which the OBIEE has been installed on linux server. I had checked that, all the files and script has necessary permissions, but missing some authentication. For further information, my instanceconfig.xml file has the following contents... ( where cryptools has run and passphare is mentioned in the instanceconfig.xml file)
