Help on missing podcasts...

Hi
i recently bought a new 30gb ipod video, and downloaded several podcasts on the itunes music store. I updated my ipod on itunes, and found all of these podcasts on the ipod. however, the second time i updated my ipod, only a few of these podcasts were on my ipod. i dont understand why they suddenly dissapeared from my ipod, and some remained. also, in my library, i have 90 podcasts, or so it says at the bottom of the screen when i have clicked on the podcast button, but next to the button on the left hand side of the screen there is a number 64...i am very confused about this whole thing, and would appreciate help or just a explanation!!
thankyou very much...

Hi, I too am a new user of all this, I think I've got this one sorted now though.
1. (in iTunes 7.0) I think the reason you can't see all your podcasts is that you need to view all the episodes for each podcast. To see all episodes from the podcast select the podcast in question, then got to >File > Show current podcast. This will then show all of the episodes to that podcast.
2. (Your iPod)YOur iPod can manage the podcasts and automatically delete podcasts you have downloaded. If you want to keep all podcasts (in Itunes with your Ipod connected) got to the ipod settings > Podcasts and select the option that best suits you.
3. Podcasts: An additional features is that you can choose how each podcast behaves. i.e. you may want some podcasts to use once or keep forever! Do do this select the podcast in question, right click on it and chosse, 'do not auto delete' or 'allow auto delete'. I think the reason you and I have issues is that they defualt to 'allow auto delete'.
Hope that helps, took me ages to figure it out!

  • Missing podcasts and Vista

I am having the same problem that others have experienced with iTunes in that podcasts that I have sucessfully downloaded subsequently disappear the next time I start iTunes.
I have seen the solution for an XP system, but Vista saves the user info in a slightly different way. Does anyone know which folders to delete under Vista?
Plus, is there a fix coming anytime soon? This is getting frustrating to the point that I am ready to junk iTunes and find another program to manage and move my podcasts.
I would say that about 20% of my podcasts are being affected by this problem. What really angers me is that I have been unable to find a way to redownload or fix short of having to go into the iTunes store and find the missing podcast.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    @King_Penguin thanks for your help
    See below some additional info:
    I have 3 Macs:
    1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.9.1
    1 X MBPr 2012 (OS X 10.8.5)
    1 X iMac 2009 (OS X 10.8.5)
    1) All 3 Macs have access to same accounts and have same apps in iTunes.
    2) Problem is only found on both MBPr's 2012 with one NL and 1 US account. With one NL account (inactive) I have no issue on all three.
FYI I have multiple iTunes accounts: 2 for the Netherlands and 1 for US.
I also tried this after deleting the only 2 apps I got from the US iTunes Store but that did not solve my issue.
I think the matter is related to my iTunes account(s) and NOT to a computer (prefs file)

  • Installer help application missing

    Hi,
I just got a mini mac, and I re-install everything, updates new OS to 10.5.6 from apple and everything works fine.
However, when I tried to install the "Stuffit Expander 2009", I got the error message saying "Missing Critical Component. Installer help application missing."
Could somebody help me? I am new to MAC.....
    I'd really appreciate the help.
    Thanks

I just got the same message. I downloaded an Expander 2009 .dmg from VersionTracker.com and it installed just fine - give that a shot.

  • ITunes 8 -  podcast count includes missing podcast episodes

In iTunes 8 (under podcasts tab) most of my podcasts seem to have disappeared, but they are still included in the episode count for each show. For example, iTunes says I have 20 episodes of MacBreak Weekly, and 3 not-listened to, but only one episode displays when I click the icon to open MacBreak Weekly. The counts are probably about correct for the number of podcasts I previously had, but where are all the missing podcast episodes, and why are they counted if they are not there? I couldn't find anyone else posting this problem.
    Any ideas?

I am also having the same issue. The count shows what I expect it to show, but the list is missing podcasts. If I dig into the file system, the Podcasts are there, but no matter what, I can not get them to show in Itunes8

  • Help! My Podcasts is not ablte to listen but to order?!

    Hi,
can someone help? My Podcast "protraxx by phonogen" dosn't work properly anymore.
    http://phonogen.com/podcast/itunes.xml
It is not possible to listen the podcast but to order! Since I had problems to order the podcast on iphone and ipad, I decide to change the original audio-file names without "spaces" (ProTraxxPodcastVol.1).
After this action, the podcast was not audibly on iTunes, nether on desktop, nor on ipad or iphone anymore. I also find out that the sequence of Podcast is wrong (Vol.1 ist Episode 4). So I changed the release-date and send a ping to push the server - nothing happend! What can I do? I'm despaired...
    Kind regards
    Rino

if i check the page on that url, there is still all the old information about the episodes
    http://phonogen.com/contact/podcast/ProTraxxPodCastVol.1.mp3
    instead of
    http://phonogen.com/communication/podcast/ProTraxxPodCastVol1.mp3
so i think we'll have to wait till apple updates their own (chached) content
looking at the logfiles, i got one entry that could lead to apples crawler

  • Using RHelp 9 - Compiled Help system missing book images on left pane? Any ideas on how to correct?

Using RHelp 9 - Compiled Help system missing book images on left pane? Any ideas on how to correct?

    Hi there
Colum seems to be making an assumption that you are producing Microsoft HTML Help, as the option he mentions only applies to the world of compiled CHM files.
But this question was posted in the WebHelp forum category, so one might assume that you are producing WebHelp output.
So the question we ask here is this:
What *IS* the output type you are creating? WebHelp? Microsoft HTML Help? FlashHelp?
    Cheers... Rick

  • Missing Podcasts...PLEASE HELP!

Lately I have been noticing that in iTunes my Podcasts have not been updating. However, when I go to the individual pages for each Podcasts it shows DOZENS of new Podcasts available. Why am I no longer getting updated on new Podcasts? Also, on the rare occasions that new Podcasts HAVE shown up on iTunes there is only a title and description but no link to download. PLEASE HELP!

If the button to download is missing, try a Repair of iTunes.
This is done by downloading iTunes again (do not uninstall your current iTunes), and then running the install. At some stage you should see a message asking if you wish to Repair iTunes. Use that.
That should sort out the missing buttons. Perhaps it will sort out the lack of automatic downloads, but check the Podcast Settings to make sure that iTunes is still set to download new episodes of Podcasts you are subscribed to.

  • Need help getting my podcast to itunes.

The problem I'm having is everytime I try to add it to itunes music store it says "Error parsing feed: Invalid XML" now I'm new to all this and I'm really not sure what I need to do to fix the XML to get it to work. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

  • Missing podcast files in iTunes

I probably didn't do this right, but I changed a video file into a podcast by right clicking and choosing info and changing the media kind to podcast (from movie). It does not show up and is completely missing now in itunes including trying to re-import the file. I tried it again with a different video file - same results - poof.
    1) How do I change it back when it is missing?
    2) How do I get it to show as an podcast if I so choose?
    I appreciate the help everyone
    Ken

Ive never done this with a movie file, but with an audio file what you get is a podcast with an empty title, which when you click the disclosure triangle show the file as an episode within it. You can't get it to show directly in the podcast list, because a podcast is defined by its feed, which in this case doesn't exist.
If you're not seeing why it's displayed in this way I can't answer that; your best bet would be to use Spotllght to see whether you can find the actual file.

  • Missing Podcast length/time

When looking at my podcast in the iTunes app on my iPhone the length/time of the episode is missing next to the title. On other podcast it is listed like this: (54:08) next to the title. Any clue why this is missing from mine?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks,
    TJ

There must be a place in Feedburner where you can enter the duration - since it's working for an earlier episode you evidently did it them: I don't know how exactly you would do it there, so I can only suggest looking around for it or checking their Help (they also have a Forum in Google Groups).

  • Missing Podcast on iTunes

Everytime I plug my iPod in, all my music, playlists, and podcasts are missing and I have to redo everything. And it also says that my iPod is synched to another computer and it isn't. HELP!!!!!

Thank you Roger!  Please forgive my ignorance, but when you say "podcast creation program"... Are you referring to the host website that I use for my podcast?  I upload each episode to Podbean. Then iTunes grabs it from there.
From the way you described it, I bet that is what is happening. How would I go about changing the setting to increase the number of podcasts allowed? Would I do that on podbean or iTunes?
Here is the link to my podcast on iTunes:

  • Missing podcasts

I had to reset my iPod because I wasn't seeing the screen even though the sone was playing. However most of my podcast episodes are missing from the iPod and cannot sync them on again, even though they are on the computer. HELP!!!

    Hello minaharker,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you doubled check your sync settings for Podcasts from under the Podcasts tab for your iPod in iTunes? Make sure you have it set to "Sync All Unwatched Episodes" or something similar. If that is already the case, try removing the tick mark next to "Sync Podcasts" at the top of this tab and hit Apply. Once it has finished with the changes, reapply the tick mark and again hit Apply to resync the podcasts back to your iPod. Any luck there?

  • Add Missing Podcast Episodes to Podcast Section

The podcast I listen to the most decided to cut its feed down to 20 shows, so now that I changed my hard-drive and didn't back up the podcast folder, I only have the last 20 shows, out of 200.
I found a server that had backups of the podcast, and I manually downloaded each one (1 to 180). Now I'd like to add those missing shows to my podcast folder, but I can't. iTunes adds them to my Library?
Is there any easy way to solve this problem?

I have a similar problem, for some reason one specific podcast from a subscribed series I get has moved into the standard library. How would I change it back. Is it something to do with ID3 tags? Please help!
