Help on parsing and storing XML file

Hi :
I have a huge file with a format similar to this.
<EmployeeDB>
<employee>
<name>Steve</name>
<salary>20000</salary>
<address>898 nobel drive</address>
<city>san diego</city>
</employee>
<employee>
<name>Ray</name>
<salary>20000</salary>
<address>898 nobel drive</address>
<city>san diego</city>
</employee>
<employee>
<name>Prag</name>
<salary>20000</salary>
<address>898 nobel drive</address>
<city>san diego</city>
</employee>
</EmployeeDB>
I have a table in my database with 2 columns one is a nsystem generated id and another column is of xmlType.
What I want to do is store each employee's XML as a seperate record.
For example: My table data should look like this
EmployeeID(Number) EmployeeXML (XMLType)
1 <employee>
<name>Steve</name>
<salary>20000</salary>
<address>898 nobel drive</address>
<city>san diego</city>
</employee>
2 <employee>
<name>Ray</name>
<salary>20000</salary>
<address>898 nobel drive</address>
<city>san diego</city>
</employee>
What I need is a code to take the document and insert the records as above.
Please send me the code if you have to [email protected]

Yes, I am using oralce 9i release 2

    Hello myself,
    nobody has answered my question, so now I answer myself!!
    The wrong part is to read the file with "open dataset" and to create the inputstream with
    p_istream = p_streamfactory->create_istream_itable(
    table = g_xml_table
    size = g_xml_size ).
    Better ist to create the inputstream with
    p_istream = p_streamfactory->create_istream_uri(
    .......................PUBLIC_ID = ''
    .......................SYSTEM_ID = '
    applserver\I$\TEMP\Datei.XML' ).
    In this way no space is needed for the file.
    Best regards,
    Thomas

  • Tree component and loading xml files into text field

    Hello and thank you for taking the time to read my issue....
    I am making a simple self help application.  I have a tree component that loads the different catagories and topics for my help app dynamically via an xml file...no issues there.
    I then want it so that when the user cliecks on the actual topic that the TextArea component will load the info from another xml file using the name of the topic as the name of the xml file to make it that much easier for anyone to maintain this program.
    So far the code i have is this.
    myTreeListener.change = function(eventObject)
        var theSelectedNode = eventObject.target.selectedNode;
        var theSelectedNodeLabel = theSelectedNode.attributes.label;
        topicTextArea.text +=
    I am a little fuzzy when it comes to loading the xml file in.  Should i be loading html instead of xml is my other question as well?
    Thanks in advance for your help
    FG

    Check out the Oracle XDB Developer's Guide, Chapter 3. There is an example of using BFileName function to load the xml files from a directory object created using create or replace directory. It works really well.

  • Non-blocking parsing of multiple xml files

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to parse multiple huge XML files concurrently for a query system over multiple xml streaming systems.
    For each huge xml file, I read them into the memory gradually (the new data would cover the old data in the buffer if the buffer is full). Two questions here:
    1. Do I have to set up a socket and write the buffered data to the socket in order to simuate that the parser can parse infinitely? It sounds not good to use socket across two threads just for the "infinite" nature.
    2. I want to simulate concurrently parsing multiple streams. A straightforward way is to have each parser sit in a thread. Is there any otherway that I can put all parsers in one thread and alternately call them? This requires that each individual parser could parse whatever they have seen so far rather and resume when they are called again.
    I'm curiously awaiting for your answers.
    thanks a lot,
    hong

    just taking a guess: create your own reader by extending java.io.Reader ; and let this reader taking care of fetching the data that the parser will use.

  • JAXB parsing an incomplete xml file

    hi folks,
    i am trying to parse a incomplete xml file (e.g some attribute and child elements are missing) in order to complete it via jaxb. however, parsing throws a SAXParseException (premature end of file), which interally is marked as unrecoverable, and a unmarshaller isn't capable of returning a result. not even the objects created so far.
    so my question is if there a way of getting the (incomplete) object tree no matter if the parsing was successfully or not. (i am aware of the fact, that this object tree might be invalid)
    cheer, johannes

    Thanks, works like a charm :)
    Another question.
    I have an index.jsp page with an HTML form (a simple "search" form, made of a text area and a submit button). Now, what I want to do is passing the parameter to two distinct servlets, each one dealing with a web service (one with ebay, the other one with last.fm).
    Unfortunately, in the action tag of the form only one value can be specified.
    Any suggestions?

  • E26 253 Error while checking in and storing: \\sapserver\file.tif

    Hi Experts,
    I have now been fighting with this problem for a couple of weeks, and not been able to solve the issue.
    My problem is to upload/check-in documents from the application serve in background.
    I have a program to create DIF and attach files using BAPI_DOCUMENT_CREATE2.
    When I'm running the program in foreground there is no problem.
    When I run it in background I get the error message E26 254 Error while checking in and storing:
    sapserver\file.tif
    I have checked that the background process can see the document on the server and that is OK, so the problem must be within the actual storing of the document in DMS in the BAPI.
    Any input to how I can solve this issue is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

    Hi All,
    We have now done some testing.
    We got it to work on one of our systems but not on the other
    I ran report RSCMST on both systems with the same backend directory. (A directory on the application server of the one that fails).
    Running this report I get this result on the system that does not work.

  • Changing the directory Structure of Jsp and web.xml files

    Hi,
    I am using the JDeveloper 11g preview. Can any one tell me how to change the Jsp and web.xml files ( not in WEB-INF directory of the application) to another directory.
    Thanks in Advance
    Gopal

    Hi Frank,
    Is it possible for me to change the folder structure which JDeveloper is providing for web project?
    By default JDeveloper is giving the following folder structure.
    In the project's root folder there is a public_html and src folder along with .jpr file.
    In public_html folder thre is an WEB-INF folder and a jsp file
    In WEB-INF folder there is an classes folder along with web.xml file.
    I need to have the following folder structure :
    The WEB-INF folder should be in root folder of project not in public_html folder
    src folder must be in WEB-INF folder.
    Thanks in Advance

  • Help -- Who has experience with ant and build.xml files ?

    Hi,
    I think my build.xml file is missing setting a classpath I need, but I have never played around with a build.xml file. Could someone help ?
    Thank you.
    Grazia

    A lot of people here use ant. But not all of us can read your mind, and those of us that can are sadistic bastards that like to force people to provide details of their problems just for the hell of it.
    So please do the following:
    * Go through an ant tutorial or other introductory docs, doing an example or two if present.
    * Set up your build.xml according to what you've learned.
    * If it still doesn't work, post the relevant portions of it (hopefully you'll have a small, representative sample that reproduces the problem), along with your relevant directory and file structure, the command you're running, and what error messages you're getting.

  • Trying to parse a huge XML file

    I'm trying to parse a large (~200 Meg) XML file. I get out of memory errors with DOM, and so far using SAX has been a huge disaster. My program has to run on IE and Netscape as an applet. I've run into a HUGE amount of errors. While I have been doing Java programming for about 2 years, this is the first time I've ever worked with XML. The error I am currently getting is an abstract method error associated with the following code :
    SAXParserFactory spf = new
                             com.sun.xml.parser.SAXParserFactoryImpl();
                   spf.setValidating(false);
                   try {
                   out.write("Gets past SAXParserFactory creation");
                   out.flush();
                        catch (Exception e) {}
                   xmlReader = null;
                   try {
                             // Create a JAXP SAXParser
                             saxParser = spf.newSAXParser();
                             // Get the encapsulated SAX XMLReader
                             out.write("gets to assigning an XMLReader");
    ***THIS LINE OF CODE ***                         xmlReader = saxParser.getXMLReader();
                             out.write("gets past assigning an XMLReader");
                             out.flush();
    I've run out of ideas and would greatly appreciate any help anyone could offer on this most frustrating problem.

    With XML, we don't have to check each line of the file, only the data in those tags of each element that we are searching on.That's true, once you have read the entire XML and parsed it. Reading the entire XML would of course take much longer than reading the text file it was generated from, so you would want to pre-parse it into a DOM and store that somehow. But then to do a search you'd have to load that DOM, which is in turn much larger than the XML it was generated from...
    What you describe sounds to me a lot like a database application. Of course I don't know anything about the specifics of what you are doing with the text, but storing it in a database with indexes that support the searches seems to me like a better approach. Of course you then have the challenge of distributing the database and its supporting software in a form that doesn't require installation. But I'd respectfully suggest that banning any installation at all is a bit extreme. After all, where I live you can buy an encyclopedia on a CD, from a gas station, for $10. And when you load the CD, it runs through an installation procedure. No big deal these days.
