Help on perplexing PS issue (side-by-side images)

Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed. Ditto with the second image. This has worked great for me.
Until tonight. Same routine. Except when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas.
This is driving me nuts. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or if inadvertently hit some setting? BTW, when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.
I'm on CS5 (mac)
Thanks!

It seems way too obvious, but what are the pixel dimensions of the the two images?  If I have two portrait mode images, for instance, I open both, and check their pixel size.  Then the larger is downsized to the exact same height as the smaller, and the smaller image's Canvas size increased to the exact pixel width of the larger's.  That way I know that the two will fit perfectly on one canvas.
Or I just use Picture package and save myself a heap of time!
BTW  I have Picture Package in CS5, but not CS6.  Can it still be DL'd as an xtra?
Ahhh...  Check this thread

  • HELP! PDF Form Issues on Windows Side

    Hello -
I have a fillable PDF form that I created using Acrobat 9.0 Pro.  It works great on the Mac side using Reader.  However, when I view on the Windows side (I use a parallel system) it displays but it then freezes when I try to fill in the required form field.  I then have to hit Control Alt Delete to get out of it.  I use Acrobat X (10.1.3) Reader on the Mac and PC side.
I have checked my security settings and everything looks fine and available for users to fill it out.
Does anyone have any idea what might be going on?
    Thanks!!!

I have Acrobat reader XI. It is local PDFs from scanning images and faxes. It is not color or anything.

  • Macbookpro noise issue on right side with heat

Hi, my 2014 macbook pro ratina display,13 inch, just finished a years warranty period, and suddenly from right side of the laptop, a noise starts (like a modem connecting or something burning kind a noise) with upper right corner more heated then the rest of the laptop, Can someone help out with the issue ?

Aha. I think I was thinking of the 15 inch. Thanks for the heads up.
It is not that simple.  The late 2012 13" retina MBPs and the early 2013 13" retina MBPs have two fans installed. Starting with the late 2013 13" MBPs, only one fan was installed.

  • HELP!!! new iMac. screen shifts side to side and i can't use mouse when this happens.

i bought this imac back in january and have had nothing but problems since then with it. first my OS (lion 10.7.4) crashed or some **** where i got extremely slow and would give me the colored wheel of death so i take it to worst but where i bought it and they say its a corupt hard drive so its sent out. get it back, they say it whats the os system so they re-boot the os on to it. mean while i was having the same problem ive have from the beginning which was the screen would shake side to side when ever i would be doing something and the mouse locks up and i would have to wait for it to stop. this is VERY ANOYING!!! i took it to apple and they ran a series of stress tests on it and they couldnt even get it to produce it once while they had it. so now its STILL doing it!  can anyone please help me. im ready to go to apple and demand a new computer or punch someone in the face...

    I'm speaking from experience.
You're using a wireless Magic Mouse right?  Yeah, thought so.
I first noticed the problem on Lion (10.7.5) but that was also the time my Mighty Mouse or whatever that thing was called crapped out and I upgraded to the Magic Mouse.  I always thought the problem was with the OS.  My system is not supported by Mountain Lion (late 2006 model, the white one) so I did a system reinstall and stil had the issue.  Being stupid, I still attributed it to the OS but had my doubts about the mouse with all the silly swipes here and there and everywhere.  Until today.  I said enough of this garbage and switched off the mouse and plugged in a beat up wired Logitech.  Going on 4 hours now and not one screen shake.
The "iMac screen shake".  Not very well documented.  But **** if that isn't one frustrating mofo.  Seriously, how did I use this thing for many moons with the screen shaking every 3-5 minutes.  ***??   And by the way, to stop the screen from shaking while it's doing it, madly swipe back and forth on the magic mouse shell to take control back.  Man, I'm getting upset just thinking about this problem.  And the waste of $70 for the mouse.
And for what it's worth, I bought an iMac (2010) for my folks and I've noticed the problem on their machine too.  Yep, Magic Mouse.

I have also an iPod Touch and when both are side by side, the iPod wifi signal is excellent and the iPhone wifi signal is very poor??!!! Hardware issue? or software issue? I was hoping it is just a software issue, but...
Saw may web sites discussing this same issue; many discussions point to hardware problems but there is no official word from Apple about it, which is disapointing !??  Few discussions point to software problem with solutions based on try and error, and they don't seem to work.

  • IS there a way to fix the issue with text list boxes where they shift (empty space is smaller than the text size) when two text lsit boxes are side by side?

Currently I have a webpage I designed for a company where I have multiple text list boxes side by side for the purpose of displaying data in each one based on a category in the database. So a text list box for the primary key, name, serial number, etc. I have to use Firefox as it typically works best for printing and functionality for the page. The single issue we are having is that in Firefox if the field is null as far as text the text are shrinks meaning all the data in that list box shifts up and is no longer in line with its congruent data in the other text list boxes. In other browsers that's not a problem and everything stays lined up regardless of whether there's text in the box or not.
Unfortunately I cannot provide a link but if contacted I will provide screen shots.

  • Side by Side Configuration ERROR - PLEASE HELP

I have Lightroom 3.0 installed on my external hard drive which I access always on the same USB port on my laptop.  After 30 hours of editing I unplugged the device thinking it was safe.  My laptop got hit by a virus that just messed my entire laptop up causing me to take it to best buy where they supposedly wiped my laptop and then reloaded it with a new OS.  One that looks totally different to me but I did not think this was going to affect my L3 on my external harddrive.   I plugged in my device to the laptop and get hit with this error when I click on it:
    e:\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom3/lightroom.exe
The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect.  Please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.
    Please help................

    Hi,
I'm not sure what the problem is, but I can give you some basic suggestions about what you could do.
First of all, check if there are more detailed error messages available in the defaultTrace.trc file. You can open the file using LogViewer service in Visual Administrator.
Also, check the settings for Database URL, and make sure you have set the SQL Engine option in the Additional tab to "Native SQL".
    Best regards,

  • Issues installing full version of 5 side by side with 4?

To avoid potential issues, I'd like to install the full version of Captivate 5 side by side with Captivate 4,
This allows me to avoid upgrading existing courses written in 4, when changes need to be made.
New courses will be created in 5.
Are there any issues getting both to work side by side?
In other programs, I've encoutered errors when different versions of the same program are installed
due to shared code or interactions with other progs.  One or the other suffers. Will I encounter similiar issues?
( I'm aware that once a captivate file is in 5 format, it can't be openned in 4.)
    Thanks for your reply
    -Joan

    Hi Joan,
I have both Captivate 4 and Captivate 5 installed on my laptop(XP SP3) and they both seem to work without any issues. So i would say go ahead ....
