I responded to your previous post. Look in ORACLE_HOME/bin for
    orapwd. Run this.

    My password file is /opt/ora9/product/9.2/dbs/orapwmydb
How can I use my orapwmydb file?

    Hi Marco,
as far as I know, you have to use the REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = SHARED option in your init...ora file.
In this case you have one password file for one or more databases. It can only have the entries for SYS and INTERAL.
I'm sorry to cannot answer your question of having different password files for different databases %-)

  • Ora-01990 error in opening the password file

    Hi,
I created a password file by using orapwd utility. Then later on I modified the remote_login_passwordfile in the spfile by giving the command:
    sql> alter system set remote_login_passwordfile=exclusive
    scope=spfile.
Then it is altered. Later on I shutdown the database and When I was trying to connect to the databse again, I am getting the following errors.
ORA-01990 error openeing the passowrd file.
ORA-27037 unable to obtain file status
linux error:2 no such file or directory.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
I tried that also.It is giving ora-32001 write to spfile requested but no spfile specified at startup.
First Manually I deleted the password file and I set the remote_login_passwordfile=none in the parameter file and again I started the instance just by giving
    sql>startup open pfile='OraHome1/dbs/initRADHI.ora'
then I tried to modify the the Remote_Login_PASSWORDFILE thru alter system set command.then it is giving the above error. then I again shutdown the DB and again I started without specifying the parameter file or spfile just saying sql>startup. Then also it is not taking the SPFILE to startup. why is so? Then also same error I am getting?
ora-32001 write to spfile requested but no spfile at startup. can anyone of you help me.
    Thanks,
    Have a nice day.

  • Configuration assistant error OPW-000001 cannot open password file

Installing on RH9. The install gives a fail message on the configuration assistant portion. When I run dbca from the command line I get the error
    OPW-000001 cannot open password file
The password file for the new database exists with the the permissions, owner and group:
-rwSr----- oracle oinstall filename (highlighted in red)
I have tried running dbca as root and oracle but get the same error.

Does the user have appropriate operating system privileges?

    So what can i do?????
I use Oracle 10.2.0 on Suse Linux 9.2
I'm very happy about Ideas and helpfull advices.
    Thanks a lot regards Julius

    Hallo Barbara,
thanks a lot for your help!!!
I've noticed that it is necessary to create the user textuser as ctxsys. So i've done like you recommended but unfortunately the result is the same.....
I added an utl_file Path to my SPFILE. (utl_file_dir= /home/oracle/mydocs) as you can see below. (is it necessary to something else to the spfile which i haven't noticed at all???
After that i tried to set up all by using sqlplus for having the possibility to show the results.
Below you can see the statements, the connect-Changes (ctxsys/textuser)
    and the echo .
Do you or somebody else have an idea what i can do additionally to get this working???
Thanks a lot and regards Julius

  • Could not open location 'file:///home/geoff'

I'm using Gnome and after the last update today ( I always do pacman -Syu everyday and accept whatever it gives me in my noobidity ):(
Now I find that when I go to Places--Home Folder and Places--Desktop I get this message.
Could not open location 'file:///home/geoff'  (or 'file:///home/geoff/Desktop')
There was an error launching the default action command associated with this location
Have I done something stupid in accepting all updates without question? Or is it something else?
Can you put me on the right learning curve and fix this.
    Thanks

I think that the latest udev upgrade has caused the problem. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I did the same upgrade on my laptop and got the same fault.
Apart from the faults in my previous message if I open a terminal over any page I'm looking at, like this for instance, it will not stay "above" the page when the box "only on this workspace" is checked. I have to check "always on top" to make it stay so I can cut and paste things.
When the terminal is minimized in the bottom panel and I click on it, it comes up but the moment I move the mouse pointer to the terminal screen it disappears back to being minimized.
I've never had this weird behavior before.
    Hoping someone can help
    thanks

Step 3 : Create password file for new database

    And in step 3,
    i get the following error..
    C:\Windows\System32>orapwd file=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle

Kindly help me to resolve this.
    Thanks in Advance!
AnithaI'll make couple of off the cuff observations in no particular order.
    1) ORACLE XE only allows a single instance per system.
I suspect that you are attempting manual DB creation since dbca is NOT provided with XE.
why do you not use dbca to make the new DB?
    2) typically the password file resides in $ORACLE_HOME\dbs
    3) Oracle password file is NOT required to exist.
    4) does OS user invoking orapwd has necessary OS permissions to actually create the file?

Is is still a not enough space problem? i think you have specified 1050m for users01.dbf file, your file system /sisdev04 has something like
1.5gb of free space. it failed because of lack of free space. may be you can reduce your datafile size or try to
    create in another filesystem.

  • Error opening fla file.

    Hi,
I am a relative newcomer to the world of Flash, so I apologize if this issue is a bit mindless for the veterans.
I am working with Flash CS6 on a Macbook Pro and recently encountered a problem when trying to open a file. An error message pops up, saying 'there was an error opening the file...'. No further details are available.
Looking at the file information, there is still data there, as the size is about 300MB.
I've tried some amateur sleuthing online for a solution, mostly involving changing the .fla extentsion to .rar and repairing the file that way, but nothing I have tried has resolved the issue.
Am I essentially out of luck, or is there a reliable solution for this kind of problem?
    Thanks for any help!
    Boots

Wow, thanks for such a quick reply, kglad.
I had actually previously zipped and unzipped the file and ended up with a folder full of stuff that I didn't know what to do with. Again, this is where my amateur understanding comes into play.
In the unzipped folder, there are 'bin', 'library' and 'meta-inf' folders, as well as a 'DOMDocument.xml' file, a 'MobileSettings.xml' file, a 'PublishSettings.xml' file and finally a file called 'mimetype'.
Should I be encouraged by this?
I'm pretty clueless at this point about how I might proceed from here. I see that the 'library' folder contains all the sound files for the project (it's a soundboard), but is there a way to go from this point to recovering the project as it was before this issue came up? Or am I stuck with starting the project all over gain?
    Thanks again for the help!

  • Open dataset fails...says "error opening input file"

    Hi,
I am trying to open a file in my BDC program and get the following error "error opening input file". Its a text file with continuous data. No delimiters and hence character count will be used to parse the data.
I am using the following statement to open it..
OPEN DATASET p_file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
    but sy-subrc is set to 8 !!
what could be the problem ??
    thanks

This is pretty confusing !!I would explain to you my exact issue !!
I have a program in which there is no GUI_UPLOAD call but just a direct open dataset statement !!
This program runs fine for my collegue who has the file in a server (not the application server). She gives the full path name as
    servername\foldername\filename.
I tried doing the same but as I did not have access to that server, it failed. So I received that file from her and stored it in my local system. So on program execution, i gave the path as c:\filename and I got the error message "Error opening the file"
    Find below some code extracts..
    PARAMETERS : p_sname TYPE d0100_mapn ,
                 p_file(136) TYPE c ,
    FORM open_file .
    *open file in textmode
OPEN DATASET p_file FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
      IF  sy-subrc = 0.
        DO.
Read the file data and tranfer to workarea to internal table
          READ DATASET p_file  INTO  x_legacy_rec.
Please help in debugging this issue !!
    thanks
