Help - Oracle SQL Plus manipulation using JAVA

Hi ,
I want to invoke SQL*Plus from my Java program as well want to write some queries in the same PROCess. I am able to invoke SQL Plus and login into SQL Plus, but i don't know how to proceed further and write queries etc in the same script. My code is as follows:
import java.util.*;
import java.io.*;
public class ExecuteSql
public static void main(String args[])
     String[] RunCommand = {"plus33w" , "username/password@dbaseregion" };
try
Runtime rt = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process proc = rt.exec(RunCommand);
     int exitVal = proc.waitFor();
System.out.println("Process exitValue: " + exitVal);
} catch (Throwable t)
t.printStackTrace();
}

    Hello all
    I just wanna ask if where i can download Oracle SQL*Plus help related like word help.?
    ty

    <p>You can access SQL*Plus help from the command line in a SQL*Plus session by typing 'help index'. If you want more information than that, take a look at the SQL*Plus Quick Reference located <b>here</b> or the SQL*Plus User's Guide and Reference located <b>here</b>. These docs are all for Oracle 10g. Other version documentation can be found <b>here</b>.</p>

  • Oracle SQL*PLUS has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry

    I have installed oracle10g release2(10.2.0.1.0) in my system
    my porblem when i am trying to issue command
    SQL> commit;
    Commit complete.
    SQL> cl scr;
    then it is show below mentioned error
    Oracle SQL*PLUS has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
    Please can anybody help for me.
    with regards,
    srinivas.

    When working with mixed environments you should make sure the path environment variable is consistent with the executables you are currently running, and try not to mix them, i.e. if you are working with the sqlplus from 9i, make sure you execute the sqlplus.exe file from the 9i oracle home and temporarily by means of a batch file put your Oracle Home 9i executables prior to those of 10g , and the other way around, when executing from the 10g make sure all executables and paths are consistent. It should be easier since when installing oracle, oracle configures the PATH environment variable so it can be seen first in the path environment variable.
    In your case you are using two compatible versions, but if the dll's get mixed there could be unexpected results.

  • NullPointerException at oracle.sql.BLOB.createTemporary(BLOB.java:590)

    Hi,
    I seldom use the BLOB. Here is the coding that creates a BLOB.
    private  BLOB getBlob(byte[] str, Connection con) throws SQLException, IOException {
      BLOB blob = BLOB.createTemporary(con, true, BLOB.DURATION_SESSION);
      blob.open(BLOB.MODE_READWRITE);
      OutputStream writer = blob.getBinaryOutputStream();
      writer.write(str);
      writer.flush();
      writer.close();
      blob.close();
      return blob;
    After inserting this BLOB into database table via ojdbc, BLOB.freeTemporary() is called.
         BLOB blob = getBlob(compressedClaim,connStore);
         rsImagePstmt.setObject(4,blob);
         rsImagePstmt.executeUpdate();
         BLOB.freeTemporary( blob );
    Sometimes it's running ok and finished properly. Sometimes I got the following exception after running 2.5 hours.
    Thanks a lot for any suggestion and help.  We use oracle 10.2 and java1.4 library here.

    Hi!
    It seems you can do this:
              try {
                   conn = new OracleDriver().defaultConnection();                graphblob = oracle.sql.BLOB.createTemporary(conn, false,oracle.sql.BLOB.DURATION_CALL); // must init
                   System.out.println("Blob is init");
              } catch ( java.sql.SQLException sEx ) {
                   throw new RuntimeException ("No connection", sEx);

  • Need help with SQL*PLUS!

    I have just downloaded Oracle SQL*PLUS 9.2.0.1.0, but I am not able to use it because I do not know the "password", "user name" and "host string". Can anybody please help me with this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Flo

    The username & password are your database username & password. If you don't know these, you'll have to contact your DBA to find out.
    The host string is the alias you used when you configured TNS on your machine. Most commonly, this is done by editing the tnsnames.ora file or by using Net8 Easy Config.

    Cold u plz help me to fix this problem........

    Hi
    I have install Oracle 9i Enterprise Edition on
    Windows XP. Then I have created a database call
    "itcmdb". Then to login to SQL Plus in graphical mode
    I have enter
    User Name: sys as sysdba
    Password : password
    Host String : itcmdb
    Then I have got an error:
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Feb

    SP2-0306: Invalid option.
    Usage: CONN[ECT] [logon] [AS {SYSDBA|SYSOPER}]
    where <logon> ::=
    <username>[<password>][@<connect_string>] | /
    so I try to log into SQL Plus by using command
    prompt. So i enter following command in the command
    prompt.
    D:\>SQLPLUS /NOLOG
    SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Fri Feb
    17 16:50:34 2006

    rights reserved.
    SQL> connect sys/password@itcmdb as sysdba
    Connected.
    SQL>
    the it was connected without any problem. Then i
    check "C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\tnsnames.ora".
    So it was contain following information.
    ITCMDB =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Rasika)(PORT
    )(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME=itcmdb)
    Then i check
    "C:\oracle\ora92\network\admin\listener.ora". so it
    was contains following information.
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC0))
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST =
    )(HOST = rasika)(PORT = 1521))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =

    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora92)

    (SID_DESC =
    (GLOBAL_DBNAME = ITCMDB)
    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oracle\ora92)
    (SID_NAME = ITCMDB)
    Cold u plz help me to fix this problem........on the sqlplusw gui you can not pass sys as sysdba as this option is available in OEM or other FRONTEND tools, wherein they inherently implement connect command.
    Hope this helps !

  • Oracle SQL*PLUS Log-In Problems

    I installed Oracle 9i Standard Edition yesterday and I logged in fine with my sys and system username and password in Oracle SQL*PLUS.
    Today when I type in the same username/password, it doesn't let me access the software and gives me "error 01033: Oracle initialization or shutdown in progress" and shuts down in three tries...
    I am not sure why so...any help?

    Like the error message says, the Oracle initialization is in progress. That means that it can't log you in because it is still busy starting up. If you try to logon three times before it is done starting up, it will exit the logon screen. Try waiting a while, perhaps a few minutes, before you try to logon. The slower your system is, the longer it may take to start up. For example, if you are using Windows on a PC, every time you start your computer, it starts your Oracle database along with everything else that is started automatically and, if you have a lot of stuff that loads on startup, it may take several minutes.

  • Running a SQL*Plus command from Java

    I have a requirement to run SQL* Plus commands from Java. The results as they would appear in SQL*Plus window or spool file should be captured and stored in a table.
    For example,
    SQL> select * from dual;
    D
    X
    1 row selected;
    SQL>
    All the lines above should be stored for later use.
    Could any one give pointers?
    Thanks,
    Ravi

  • SQL * Plus commands using JDBC

    Hi,
    Is it possible to run SQL * Plus commands using JDBC?
    Like Describe mytable , @mysql.sql etc....
    Pl. let me know any hints or way to handle it..
    Regards,

    like masuda1967 said, and you have MetaData objects for ResultSets as well.
    @something.sql you can call using CallableStatement objects, look it up in jdbc docs....

  • HOW TO START MAKING DATABASE USING ORACLE SQL PLUS in 10g?

    how will i create database using sql plus?
    does the code of sql applicable to it..?
    do i have to use the "create db <database name>", use and " create table also,.."
    pls help me..
    thanks

    At dos prompt :
    C:\>set ORACLE_SID=<your SID>
    C:\>sqlplus / as sysdba
    you get connected as sys user. Don't use this connection to create your own objects, create users instead.... but it would be useful to read some documentation, for example Starting SQL*Plus and manuals mentioned there.

  • Need help in sql plus

    i install in my computer the oracle9i
    my problem is that : i can login to sql plus
    althoge i was tring all the passwords that i know
    scott/tiger
    sys/change_on_install
    system/manager and the result is allways the same
    ora-12560 error
    how can i solve that problem?
    did i missed somthing during the installation?

    Thank you to EVERYONE!!
    I have been searching every possible forum to find out how to install/run SQL *Plus on a home computer without a server/network to work within.  As most just learning, I could not figure out how to get past the SQL Plus Username/Password/Host String logon.
    After much trial and error, I got through and I hope this helps a lot of people just starting out.
    I used 'SYSTEM' as my username and my password created on install.
    When installing I created a database and fixed the password so my default password was the password I created on install.
    As long as I had those two fields filled in, I could leave the Host String blank and I could still get into the SQL Plus workspace.
    Since I also created a database on install, I found that I could also use the name I gave the installed database (I didn't leave the default database name so I do not remember what the default name was, but I think the default password was 'manager' for those who were not tempted to change it).
    Worst case scenario if you forgot your database name given during install, you can do a search for all of your .ora files (usually in the drive you installed Oracle on). Open the tnsnames.ora file in Notepad and you can see which database names are available on your system. The path to my file was:
    D:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
    You want the SERVICE_NAME = 'databasename'
    I hope this reduced someone's stress...and thanks for all the helpful hints on these threads...they led me to the final outcome!!
    In the end, I tried a lot of other combinations for the username/host strings with plenty of errors. You would think this information would be on page one of every Oracle install!! Or maybe it is and I am just a bit slow. : )
    Thanks again to all that posted with this initial question (years ago)...

  • Oracle SQL Developer installation and Java

    I finished installing Oracle Client without problems. Opened up SQL Developer for the first time and he asks me for the full Java.exe pathname.
    That's fine, but when I input the java.exe I just get asked again, no errors. Repeat until infinity.
    I installed the newest Java SDK and tried both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (jdk 7u4). I even tried installing Oracle Client version 11.1.0 AND 11.2.0 to see if that make any difference, but it's all the same.
    I have uploaded a screenshot if that helps: http://i50.tinypic.com/mjtqte.jpg
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Gunnar Óskarsson

    Hi Gunnar.
    Documentation:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E25259_01/doc.31/e26419/install.htm#sthref8
    Ideas:
    -Do not use java7
    -Use JDK not JRE
    -On widows there is a version of SQLDeveloper including java 6 jdk
    -Instant client is not required - but if you want to use it use at least 11.2.0.2
    -Updated SetJavaHome in sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf to point to the JDK
    -There is some confusion over 32bit and 64bit Operating System, java and SQLDeveloper, you can search the forum for details, eg: thread title: "Unable to start Oracle SQL Developer"
