HELP! OSB 11g binary-content

I want to make this simple. I have poked around in the very verbose documentation and just want what must be an easy question so forgive me. I have the following scenario:
I have a proxy service that includes a java callout. The java callout executes queries (using java as it allows a dynamic means to add additional queries as necessary without any mods). The query takes the resultset and GZIPS it and passes the compressed data as a byte array.
The proxy then routes to a business service that makes a rest call to an external site passing the byte array to that url but not as a query parm just streamed there. The url uses the PoST method and the business service is an XML service and I have tried a Messaging Service also.
I have tried assigning the variable that contains the binary-content ref (the variable that the byte array is assigned to out of the java callout), to the $body (I have since found out that is not right). My last try is to do nothing and I get a response that the data is not GZIP format, but I am wondering if that is because I am not really passing the data as I should...
So...to make this easy...what, if any assign, replace, insert etc should I make with the byte array binary content variable that will be used by the business service to pass the data along? When tracing is on I see that the variable containing the byte array is set as expected with something like 'con:binary-content ref=.......'.
Any help is appreciated.
Al

... creates the binary-content attribute with a reference to the actual dataTo retrieve the actual binary content from the reference you have to assign it to another variable...
Create a new variable $binary (can be "any xml" type) and do an assign like this
Expression: $your_variable/ctx:binary-content
Variable: $binary
You then assign this $binary to the body of the business service as I mentioned on the other post...
Please let me know if this was helpful...

Vlad

  • OSB 11g help

    hello evey one,
    i have the following question which is very very important to continue my work with OSB 11g.
    i have developed two web services the first takes data from table X and the other one is insert that data to Table Y, and i created a OSB configuration project and OSB project and for now every thing is fine since i can call both web Services useing proxy service from web service client tool.
    what i need is how can i set the OSB to call web service 1 automatically every 1 hour, 1 minute its does matter, and send the data to web service two to be inserted???????
    please help!!!!!

    I suppose you are after a timer transport in OSB here..Please take a look at this article which explains a reference implementation using the weblogic timer service:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/jamesbayer/2007/11/weblogic_scheduling_a_polling.html
    There are some concrete viewpoints that a service bus is not the right place to put in timer facility.. See the discussion at this thread within this forum:

  • Dynamic Setting of URL in Proxy for binary content in OSB

    I have three external links (to three different images) and external applications change them quite frequently.
    I want to build a proxy service where I should get the dynamic URL as parameter and this proxy should hit that URL to get the images. This proxy service should return these images as binary content.
    So this proxy service will be a routing service for different images coming from external web applications. I would like to know how can I get the content from a dynamic URL (not a fixed one)?
    I cannot use business service because I have to set the URL at run time.
    I will appreciate a prompt response.
    Thanks

    Use BS and in the request action use a Routing Options action http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/doc.1111/e15866/ui_ref.htm#i1290930
    Routing option allows you to change the URI of BS as per your runtime need.

  • How to do service callout with the incoming JMS message in OSB 11g

    Hello All,
    I have a specific requirement for which I am creating a kind of POC where I need some help in OSB, however am new to OSB.
    My Environment:
    1> I have a request queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFReq_WS
    2> I have a response queue (deployed on a WLS domain) - WFRes_WS
    3> I have created a ProxyService (request/response type) in OSB 11g which is simply mapping the incoming message in WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS
    4> I have a WebService (it is currently a simple hello WebService for testing) which takes a string and returns the same string with an added 'Hi' in front of it (e.g. If you send Jack, it will return 'Hi Jack')
    My Requirement:
    1> I have to do some mechanism in OSB, by which while mapping the message from WFReq_WS to WFRes_WS (through the proxy service I have), it will pick the JMS message (which will be a string/text) and will make a service callout to the Webservice I mentioned using the message as the input parameter of the WebService.
    2>Now when the response of the WebService will come, OSB should send this response as the message in the response queue (WFRes_WS) I mentioned above.
    To simplify the requirement using an example:
    A> I will send a text/String message (say Jack) to the request queue (WFReq_WS)
    B> OSB should pick the message (Jack) and make a service callout to the webservice
    C> webservice will return 'Hi Jack'
    D> OSB should send this to the response queue (WFRes_WS)
    I know the above might look very basic question to the PROs, but please elaborate (step by step) what need to be done, since I do not know OSB.
    Thanks a lot for your help !

    Your example points A and D are easily done by having a "Proxy Service" which has the following details:
    Service Type = Messaging Service
    Request and Response type = Text
    Protocol = jms
    Endpoint URI = your request queue (format like 'jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueJNDIName')
    Checkmark "response" so that the proxy service automatically delivers the response to another queue - your response queue
    Response URI = jms://localhost:7013/weblogic.jms.XAConnectionFactory/QueueResponse
    Now since your "Hello" webservice is (probably) a SOAP xml service you need to "convert" your text based JMS message to xml before sending it on to the "Hello" service.
    Your JMS proxy can do that by just doing a "Assign <whom>{$body/text()}</whom>" to a variable (lets call it 'reqHello')
    Now your JMS proxy should actually call the Hello service and since your JMS proxy is text and the Hello service is SOAP you cannot just "pass" on to the Hello service in a "Route to". Instead you can do a Service Callout where you can specify your "reqHello" variable as payload and a "respHello" as response variable.
    Now you have the "<whom>Hi jack</whom>" in the response variable and since the JMS response needs to be text format you can "extract" the text value into the body variable of the JMS proxy (use "replace /* in body with $respHello/text()" - replace node contents)
    The actual Hello service is a simple "SOAP" based Proxy Service. Add a pipeline and add a stage in the reponse pipeline. Do a ...
    Assign fn:concat("Hi ",$body/whom/text()) to $whomVar
    Replace whom in body with $whomVar (replace node contents)

    The following document lists the supported data types for SQL Server stored procedures and functions... NVARCHAR is not in the list... :-(

  • How to Handle Multiple Thread in JAVA Callout with OSB 11g

    Hi Team,
    With My OSB 11g, I want create a static Thread when Java callout.
    Java code as below.

                        thread.setDaemon(true);
                        thread.start();
    When this class was first called in OSB, the thread start run. while when I redeploy it, the old Thread is still running, if call the class again, it will create a new Thread. The two threads will run at the same time.
    Any body know how do configure it, so that there is only one static Thread in the Weblogic JVM.

  • Binary content in XML document

    Hi all,
    I'm currently facing a problem regarding XML and binary content. What I need to do is basically send an XML-RPC message to invoke a method that has a parameter which accepts a file. I'm not sure how to include binary content in an XML document. Other than that, does anybody know if I can use some sort of common multipart request class to accept the XML-RPC calls from the client? In the end I should have a servlet that takes care of transferring the request (XML-RPC with file) to the apropriate service and construct and send a response...

    How does the aproach of establishing a momentary peer-to-peer connection for a file transfer compare with HTTP uploads? Does it work just about the same way?
    Basically, this means I would need to build a client program that first opens a server socket for the actual file transfer, then sends a message to the application server that it wishes to upload a file and then accepts a connection from that application server to transmit the file...
    Sure. ;-) However, if you're asking where you might find such an animal then I can't help you...
    Apparently I don't need such a class anyway, if I use common XML-RPC messages and transfer binary content in another way... ;)

  • How to load binary content of a .class file?

    Hello everyone,
    I want to load the binary content of a .class file in a dynamic approach. In more detail, I want it to work in the following approach. When given the name of a class, I can retrieve the binary content of the .class file. I have written the following sample but it does not work. Can anyone help to find what is wrong with my sample? How to achieve my goal?
    String className = this.getClass().getName();
    InputStream inputStream = this.getClass().getResourceAsStream (className);When executing the above code, the inputStream is always returned as "null".
    Thanks in advance,
    George

    Thanks ruthf104,
    I haven't tested this, but I think you will need to
    transform the class name
    "test.Foo"
    into the resource path
    "/test/Foo.class"
    ie change '.' to '/', append '/' at the beginning
    and ".class" at the end.
    See the following paragraph from the
    Class.getResourceAsStream specification:
    "This method delegates the call to its class loader,
    , after making these changes to the resource name: if
    the resource name starts with "/", it is unchanged;
    otherwise, the package name is prepended to the
    resource name after converting "." to "/". If this
    object was loaded by the bootstrap loader, the call
    is delegated to
    ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream."
    By these rules, the method will not be able to
    automatically transform the class name into a
    resource path for you (it doesn't append the
    ".class"), so you'll have to do it yourself.I have verified that your approach is working!
    regards,
    George

  • New How-To: Exchanging Binary Content Using MTOM

    Hello,
    One of the new features of the OracleAS Web Services (10.1.3.1) is the support of Message Transmission and Optimization Mechanism (MTOM) to exchange binary content using SOAP Web Services.
    This is documented in the following how to:

    Tugdual Grall

    hi All,
    I m stuck in a similar kind of issue, in my case content selectors is used but after that i need to perform some filteration and sorting to select the necessary node, at the last i end up with a node object or a input stream and then how to render this to the screen is issue (node has a binary property with html file)
    I have tries the the option discussed in this thread but it didnt worked, as most of them are aroung jsp tags.
    Brad
    <%@ taglib uri="http://www.bea.com/servers/portal/tags/content" prefix="cm"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://www.bea.com/servers/content/ui/jsp/templates" prefix="templates"%>
    <cm:getNode id="node" path="/path/to/node"/>
    ${templates:getFileContents(node)}
    this looks simple but not working, difference is, in place of "<cm:getNode id="node" path="/path/to/node"/>" i have node object.
    Code snippet
    <pz:contentSelector rule="ContentDisplaySelector" versionedContent="true" id="nodes"/>
    <%
    InputStream in =null;
    if(nodes.length>1)
         ArrayList<Version> nodeArrayList = new ArrayList<Version>();
         for(int i=0;i<nodes.length;i++)
              if(null != nodes[i] && Workflow.PUBLISHED == nodes.getStatus())
              nodeArrayList.add(nodes[i]);
    //sorts as per start date and end date
         Collections.sort(nodeArrayList,new VersionedNodeComparator());
         IVersionManager versionManager = ContentManagerFactory.getVersionManager();
         ContentContext contentContext = new ContentContext();
    //how can i use this input stream to render the html output
         in = versionManager.getStream(contentContext,nodeArrayList.get(nodeArrayList.size()-1).getNodeId(),nodeArrayList.get(nodeArrayList.size()-1).getProperty("file").getId());
    %>
    ${templates:getFileContents(<%nodeArrayList.get(nodeArrayList.size()-1)%>)}
    i m also looking for a tag based solution.
    please help with ur suggestions.

  • Deployment issue with SOA - OSB 11g  environment

    Hi,
    We have Dev Environment configured with SOA 11g (11.1.1.4) and OSB 11g (11.1.1.4) on a single weblogic domain. Developed SOA composite app and deployed to the SOA Server. We are exposing our SOA Composite thru OSB ( created osb proxy and business services and accessed soa composite from the client. It s working fine ) layer for the client to access it. The issue here is while deploying it to the production environment (configured OSB and SOA in two separate WL domain) located offshore.
    What i saw from the soa doc is that we need to deploy SOA composite to the SOA Server and OSB Configuration to the OSB Server.
    but the offshore person is asking us to deploy both SOA composite & osb to the same OSB Server as an .ear file.
    Is it possible to deploy both SOA composite & osb to the same osb server ? is there any document on project that involve both soa and osb.
    please guide me how to do the deployment
    I appreciate all your help.
    thanks
    sumesh.j

    I am wondering if could able to solve the problem of deploying both SOA composite & osb to the same osb server. Even I am facing the same problem....
    If you could able to solve the problem then please let us know the steps that you have followed to solve the same.

  • OSB 11g + DB adapter - best practices

    Hello All,
    I am creating some data services using OSB 11g+Db adapter to perform operations (Sel,Ins,Upd) from two databases. Most of them are simple queries, however some include complex db operations
    1. If I have two separate datasources for databases, are there any option to handle global xa tansaction using OSB service.
    2. Couple of interfaces consist large payload (Say xml with 5000 elements -- approx 500kb - 1MB) to be inserted to db. Are there performance tuning tips for these kind of operations.
    Please let me know your thoughts on this - any docs/blog also will help.
    Thanks,
    ARPL

    The below URL will help you to have DBAdapter in OSB.
    Guido Schmutz, has provided step-by-step tutorial and video tutorial as well.
    http://guidoschmutz.wordpress.com/2010/08/08/oracle-service-bus-11g-and-db-adapter-a-different-more-integrated-approach/
    http://guidoschmutz.wordpress.com/2010/08/08/oracle-service-bus-11g-and-db-adapter-a-more-integrated-approach-the-video-tutorial/
    If you are going to use Sel, Update and Insert to a single table or multiple tables then i would say, try to keep it with in single adapter wsdl with multiple operations, this will help you to have good performance.
    Otherwise you can keep all those in a procedure and call the required function but in that case you have to have 3 DBAdapters.
    To answer your question,
    1. Enable both the datasources as XA enabled. As per 11g, you will be building in Jdeveloper (DBAdapter) and use it inside OSB.
    2. You have to control that on multiple levels like jvm memory allocation, datasource threads allocation, timeout seeting on datasource and releasing dead connections.
    Thanks,
    Vijay

  • OSB 11G xsl/xquery question in Proxy

    OSB 11G
    In Proxy, I have to invoke a business service which has 3 operations
    I need to use response of first 2 operations,as request to third operation along with some input xml to OSB Proxy.
    customer, group, severity are hard coded.(which will be input to OSB)
    How do I add/insert response from op1 after <string>customer</string> ??
    and response from op2 after <string>group</string> . ??
    <InvokecreateRequest_InputVariable>
    <part name="parameters" >
    <createRequest>
    <sid>1959439747</sid> // is resp from operation1, which is request to operations3

    </attributes>
    </createRequest>
    </part>
    </InvokecreateRequest_InputVariable>
    Also, should I use assign or insert in Proxy ??

    Not sure exactly what you need, but here is a basic layout of what you need to do.
    Make a service callout to the first operation and save the response in a variable, for ex $resOne
    Then make a service callout to the second operation ans save the response in a variable for ex $resTwo.
    Now use a replace or assign action to create the request for the third operation:
    If you are using a Route action on Route node to call the third operation, you should use a replace action and replace the contents of $body with the XML content as needed. If you are going to use another service callout, then you should use an assign to create a request variable.
    In either case, this is what your XQuery should look like:
    <InvokecreateRequest_InputVariable>
    <part name="parameters" >
    <createRequest>
    <sid>{$resOne/ns:ElementName/ns:SID/text()}</sid>     // Here you will populate value from $resOne using a correct XPath
    <creatorHandle/>
    <attrVals>
    <string>customer</string>
    <string>cnt:08DF89FC07516A41B228587DBE75B6A7</string>
    {$resOne}    // here you are inserting the complete response from Operation one
    <string>group</string>
    {{$resTwo}    // here you are inserting the complete response from Operation Two, You can choose to populate these values separately inside variables like for SID above.
    <string>B79AAF63D870F845980A</string>
    <string>severity</string>
    <string>2</string> //input to OSB
    </attrVals>
    <propertyValues>
    <string/>
    </propertyValues>
    <template/>
    <attributes>
    <string>persistent_id</string>
    </attributes>
    </createRequest>
    </part>
    </InvokecreateRequest_InputVariable>
