Help !! PHP or AS to PDF Printing

Looking for some info on the what the PHP or AS coding would
be to create what the industry is calling an "Flyer Machine". I
have a client that really wants this. Essentially the PHP or AS
references images on a server and allows for automatic printing to
a PDF document. An example of what I'm talking about is at the
below link.
Any info or ideas would be helpful, im an intermediate
developer, take that in to account, I know a lot of you guys on
this forum are great. Help.

If I understood you well
in case you want the user to print it over his machine as pdf
the user should have Adobe PDF driver for printing
just you need to under print method inside flash (clear
examples available in flash help for print method)
but if you want to print over the server it self...in this
case you have more work to do which I cant explain it all here
1- first you need to tranfer the the bitmap from flash to Php
-----------> the result will be jpg stream or file on the server
2- you need some third party class like JPG2PDF (google it)
to generate pdf from jpg

Help: How to crop (to PDF print) a full bleed document?

I have a document which is sized for full bleed printing. I would also like to make PDF prints of this document, but if I simply print, then everything will be off by a little. Is there a non-destructive way to 'crop' the document back to the paper size?

Do Save a copy, PDF, and in the Marks and Bleeds section, uncheck the printers marks, uncheck Use Document Bleed.

HELP - How can I default PDF printing to use Custom Scale 97%?

We just upgraded an old computer to new hardware. The old machine automatically defaulted all PDFs to print to Custom Scale 97%. Because of our letterhead it's critical that this value remain defaulted to prevent wasting large amounts of stock. How can we default this setting again in Reader XI?

As an update, I got this working on my local machine. Unfortunately it isn't taking on the print machine yet. I made the following registry changes:
bprintExpandToFit (1)
bprintSetPageSize (97)
bprintScaling (2)
Locally it works using version 11.0.06. The print machine keeps re-setting the registry values however.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

[Acrobat 8.x] PDF Printer not working

Hi there,
I just migrated from Windows XP SP3 to Windows 7. After having installed Acrobat (as part of CS3), I quickly came across the following nasty problem. The PDF Printer worked about once. After that, it became defunct. When starting a print job with PDF Printer, the entire application hangs. For some reason, there is considerable hard drive activity after that, but the application that has issued the print command does not recover (I waited for several minutes).
I have tried the following solution:
(1) Auto-Update updated my Acrobat version to 8.1.3
(2) "Repair Acrobat Installation" from Acrobat Help Menu
(3) Manually reinstalled PDF Printer
(4) Removed all PDF Ports and recovered via "Repair Acrobat Installation"
=> no effect, the problem remains.
I would be very greatful for any suggestions. This problem is driving me nuts! The PDF printer is an important component that just has to work.

The upgrade to 8.1.6 did solve the problem. Acrobat still works poorly, but at least the PDF Maker works quite fine.
Nevertheless, it's really too bad that Adobe requires you to purchase a full (and considerably expensive) upgrade for Win7 support. Adobe 8 is not that old so that it would require updating.

I am missing PDF Printer (PDFMaker), have reinstalled Adobe Professional and even did a repair making sure I added the PDFMaker options - it still will not add the PDF Printer (PDFMaker) option - which is necessar to use with our document comparison softw

Please help me add back the PDF Printer - I am missing the PDF Printer (PDFMaker) and have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Professional 10, I have tried repairing it and made sure the options for PDFMaker are selected, to no avail. I need the PDF Printer to use with our document comparison product, using the add printer options and adding the Adobe converters doesn't fix this issue either, it just adds an option to convert documents to PDF to a local folder which doesn't fix the issue.
I have a contract for Adobe Support but cannot reach a technician by 1-800 number, does anyone (1) have a solution to this problem? and (2) a telephone number for which I can call for assistance?

Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro PC with Windows 7 - error mess "Adobe PDF Printer - not available" Help?

Just loaded my old Acrobat 7.0 Professional on new PC with Windows 7 - Error message "Adobe PDF Priner not available. Therefore do not have option of Adobe printer when using Word.
Any ideas as to what - if anythjing I can do?

Technically acrobat 7 not not designed for windows 7 OS. You can try to install the pdf printer manually but it's not guaranteed :
Click the Windows "Start" menu, select "Control Panel," choose "Hardware and Sound," click the "Add a Printer" link under Devices and Printers.
Click "Next" and select "Local Printer Attached to This Computer."
Remove the check from "Automatically Detect and Install My Plug and Play Printer" and click "Next."
Select "My Documents\\*.pdf (Adobe PDF)" in the port selection drop-down menu and click "Next."
Select the "Have Disk" option and click the "Browse" button to open a dialog box.
Select the "AdobePDF.inf" file located in the AdobePDF folder in your Program Files directory under "Adobe" | "Acrobat 9.0" | "Acrobat" | "Xtras."
Select the first item on the list of Adobe PDF Converter options and click "Next."
Type "Adobe PDF" in the field for a printer name and click "Next."
Wait for two minutes for the system to process the drivers and click "Finish" to close the Add a Printer wizard.

Pdf printing in Preview... (Help)

Hi,
I have a networked PS printer / Copier (Imagistics) that runs a Fiery print server. I cannot print PDFs in Preview.
I have a 16.9MB PDF that sits in my print queue and never begins to print. The queue stays open, and ends up consuming the 512MB of RAM and 5 GB of HD space on the printer... which then prevents the copier from printing at all from any computer.
If I let it sit for about 5 - 10 min. and then manually delete the print job in Printer Setup, I can get like 7 - 10 pages to print... but when I need 250 copies, that is not an option .
I can print in Keynote, Pages, Office, Camino, Safari... You name it I can print from it. It is specifically tied to Preview and PDF printing.
I copied the PDF over to a PC and it prints fine in Adobe Reader.
I have checked permissions and the disk for errors... there aren't any .
I have also reinstalled the print drivers, and, just as a side note, my other MBP doesn't exhibit this issue.
Any ideas on where to continue from here?

Adobe Reader does not work. I get the standard print dialog, but once I hit print it beachballs. The print progress dialog from printer setup doesn't even come up.
I've now tried it with the standard EFI x3e 22c-km ps v2.0 drivers that come with OS X and with the ones I can download from imagistic's (the printer brand) website. They are both the same version.
I ran a cupstestPPD command from the CLI and this is what I got... from the standard OSX driver:

The last time I tried to print our newsletter, I was running 10.4.9... I am now running 10.4.10.
This is my only 11x17 printer, and our PC's colormatching stinks. I can print from it, but if I do I will probably need to go to greyscale.

Weird Errors in PDF Printing! Please help!

I am facing two different problems in PDF printing. Any suggestions would be welcome. I would really be glad to understand what is going wrong.
Problem 1:
I have a page with 2 report regions, each with its own header. My PDF report was working fine till the necessity arised for providing a page break.
Examples for the problem occuring are:
1) The 2nd report's heading would be printed in 1st page and data in 2nd page.
2) The 2nd table's column heading (that are printed in 2 lines) would be displayed with first line in 1st page end and 2nd line in 2nd page start.
In order to avoid this I had to provide a page break. An RTF page break was of no use, because if the 1st report had no data then the entire page would have only "No Data Found". I do not want this to happen. Hence I tried giving the "<?split-by-page-break:?>" before the <?end if?>.
I designed RTF as shown below:

When I upload this and run my page, I get the "Adobe reader could not open file because it is not supported type, it has been damaged. Eg it was sent as email attachment and wasnt correctly decoded error".
I already know this error occurs when there is a "No Data Found" in the report. I hence handled it using the 1st if condition and report was working till i had to change it to include the page break.
And the best part is for the same data, the PDF runs correctly when using BI Publisher Desktop.
Anyone know what I am doing wrong or what is happening here?
Problem 2:
Whenever I change my RTF and upload it and run my application, my PDF output behaves in a very weird manner. After repeated tries of loading the same RTF, I finally get proper output. Once I get the output, it does not fail until I make changes to RTF and load again.
An example of weird output is: My first report data gets printed under 2nd report heading and vice versa. Also all the column data do not get printed. Only 1 or 2 columns data is printed.
Here also, for the same data, the PDF runs correctly when using BI Publisher Desktop.
Can anyone tell me what is going on??

Hi All,
On further observation (for Problem 2), I found that once I upload the changed RTF and wait for a long time before running the application (sometimes 2-3 hours), I get proper results. The problem itself does not occur always.
Is there any session/cache issue here? Clearing my desktop, browser cache does not help. So is there any other APEX cache (server side cache) that I would need to refresh, every time I change RTF? Or the BI publisher that is being used is not getting refreshed?
Can anyone shed any light on this issue please?
Regarding problem 1, I have implemented the page break differently using an outer table for each report and setting the table properties. Hence this is not an issue now.

If it is Win 7 or later, the Adobe PDF printer for AA 7 will not install and AcroTray will not function. You will have to install a PS driver from Adobe or maybe an HP color PS printer driver. Then edit the driver properties and change the name to Adobe PDF and the port to FILE. You will always have to do an extra step in creating PDFs by opening the file that is created in Distiller to get the PDF.
If you are talking about Win 8, you may not be successful at all. If you got Acrobat and Distiller to install, then there is a chance.

If I understand you correctly your PDF viewer is not giving you the options you posted above. Click on View and ensure that both Read Mode and Full Screen Mode are unchecked. This should get your options back if you are experiencing that I am thinking you are. If this does not work if you could elaborate a bit on your issue I will try to assist.

PDF Printing Help Needed

I have a Windows pc only for 1 thing - printing pdfs. My problem is that Windows printer drivers allow me to have auto select paper size/tray depending on if the pdf page is standard or legal. I have not yet found anyway to do this through the mac.
I have a Brother HD-5370 laser printer and need some assistance with the paper auto select. If any one has any suggestions or an actual fix, I am all eras.

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
We are willing to help however we need you to complete your Public Profile (look to your right) so we can tell what computer you have, the version of OS X, how much RAM etc. Also letting us know where you are located could help in future posts.
Most printing issues are handled in the Printing forums. Each version of OS X has it's own printing forum. For example if you use Snow Leopard (10.6) then that forum is located at:

However let me try and take a stab at your problem. I am guessing you are using Preview to print the PDFs so let's start there. When you print (Command-P) the printing box will appear, look under the Orientation and right below that it will probably default to Preview. Click that radio and choose paper handling to see if your printer offers more choices. You can also run Software Update to see if you have the most up-to-date drivers and retry.

Help with PDF Printer Driver Issues?

My pdf printer driver is no longer working - I have CS3. It actually doesn't work in any CS3 program. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the entire suite, and it will just put in a (copy) which also doesn't work. I CAN save as pdf, but I can't print to pdf in any design program. And of course it's all been working perfectly up until now, and I've tried going in through control panel, etc. Usually it just says "Unable to print Illustration" in Illustrator, but I saw one message flash that talked about print spooling - couldn't read it all before it was gone.
Has anyone else seen this issue? Any idea what to do? I desperately need to print to pdf.

Hi Mike,
I didn't try uninstalling the printer from the fax/print area, so will do that. I have uninstalled all CS3 componants and reinstalled, however, with no improvement. I'll take all the pdf printer/copies out first and try it again. Is there a better place that you know of to download the printer driver separately? I'm not finding that on Adobe by itself. I've just been reinstalling the whole program. (I'm on PC by the way).

Acrobat Help | Basic PDF printing tasks

The idea of re-sorting multiple pages so they appear in the correct order when printed on saddle-stitched or stapled pager is called imposition. Neither Adobe Reader nor Adobe Acrobat will do it for you automatically.
Often if your printer has double-sided capability the manufacturer's driver software will have an option that handles imposition for you. If so it can be accessed through the Advanced button on the print dialog and that would work in both Reader and Acrobat just the same.
Failing that, using Acrobat there are two options - either rearrange the pages by hand (drag and drop in the page navigation sidebar) or use a plugin such as Quite Imposing that will also handle things like margin adjustments and rotating pages to fit portrait<>landscape etc.

HELP! Why can't I print PDFs from my applications?

For over a year I've used Adobe Pro to "print" PDFs from AutoCAD LT (a drafting program). This allows me to perform design/drafting services for long distance clients and email them PDF "prints" of drawings for them to review, print, and use. It has worked beautifully...until this week. Now whenever I go to print a PDF from AutoCAD (or even other Windows applicacations like Word) it gives me an error telling me to change the Advanced printer preferences to "print directly to printer". When I go into the Adobe printer preferences and select this option. and return to print the PDF, selecting the print command causes AutoCAD to hang indefinitely and eventually crash when I try to cancel the print command. This behavor is the same inside other Windows applications like Word. So I've concluded that the issue is inside Adobe or my computer's Adobe "printer" settings. I've spent 5-6 hours unistalling a reinstalling Adobe several times in hopes to get back to whatever settings that worked before...to no success.
The last piece to the puzzles is that I was on vacation last week. Instead of the desktop computer in my office that I typically use, I took my old laptop. I only have one license of Adobe Pro. Even though I hadn't used it for months on the laptop, it worked fine creating PDFs from AutoCAD. My question is: did using Adobe on my laptop deactivate the Adobe loaded on my desktop? And if so, why hasn't deactivating and uninstalling the Adobe Pro on my laptop, and unistalling/reinstalling/activating the Adobe Pro on my desktop, fixed the problem?
I'm at my wits' end...any feedback/advice would be much appreciated!

In WORD (Sorry I don't have Autocad), can you go to the FILE>Print and print to the Adobe PDF printer with no problem? If not, can you select print-to-file and then open the file in Distiller to complete the conversion? If the latter works, it sounds like you may have disabled AcroTray, a necessary part of the printing process.

PDF Print from joomla

Hello everybody
I am newbie and dont know much about PHP coding.
Now i have a design for a Calender and I am using joomla for my website. In joomla i have a component names Eventlist.
So what i want to do is, to print all the events of everyday as PDF on my Design.
Can anyone help me or explain me what to do.
Is it possible to install Acrobat on my website?

I ran into a similar situation recently and found one cheap (smells a bit like a hack) option to give the illusion of direct printing. If you embed Acrobat Reader as an object in your page then you can give it a width and height of 0, effectively hiding it. Then use the print() function to make it print from your own button in the page. Something like this:

<PARAM NAME="SRC" VALUE="/servlet/MyServlet">
</OBJECT>
Then a button on the same page can make the pdf print.
<BUTTON name='printButton' onClick='MYPDF.print()'>Print</BUTTON>
Your confused users still have to choose that button however -- I don't think you can override the behaviour of the browser's print button.
I've heard of some plug-in called ActivePDF that might also help you but I don't know much about it (do a search).
