Help regarding Tomcat - execution of my application

Hi All,
I have developed an Online Banking system. But its giving an error when I am trying to execute it.
Package name is 'com'.
I have placed the code in the following manner.
Apache Tomcat 4.0->webapps->com->WEB-INF->java->com
1st com folder is tha main folder, this com has folder html, jsp and WEB-INF.
html folder has .html files, jsp folder has .jsp files.
WEB-INF has 1 folder java and web.xml file.
java folder has a folder com, this com has .class files and in the java folders there are .java files.
When I try to execute a functonality AddCustomer its giving an error :
'error in compiling AddCustomer.jsp , package com does not exist'
Please help in this regard. What might be the reason for error.

Apache Tomcat 4.0->webapps->com->WEB-INF->java->comLooks like you have 'java' directory under WEB-INF and you have kept you classes in 'java' directory.
You must place your classes in WEB-INF/classes directory. If you have a class LoginHelper in package com.onlinebank then the structure will look like:
Apache Tomcat 4.0->webapps->com->WEB-INF->classes->com->onlinebank->LoginHelper.
Though 'com' is a valid root directory name of any web application, but I suggest you give an appropriate name of your online banking web application.

You can check the mode in which you are reading the file
from application server that is
Open Dataset in Binary or Text Mode.

Snooker Scoreboard Application
This assignment is designed to consolidate the knowledge of the Java programming language you have gained in the first half of the course and to develop your skills in using basic Java input/output facilities, designing graphical user interfaces and implementing client-server systems.
The Application (70 marks)
You will develop a client/server based scoreboard application which will present and log the activity of a snooker match which may comprise a maximum of 15 frames. Your application must be capable of performing the following functions:
(a) Displaying the current score of each player for the current frame.
(b) Displaying the break for the player currently at the table.
(c) Displaying a record of the sequence of balls potted with their values during each break for each player during the current frame.
(d) Logging, and ultimately storing on a floppy disc in drive A, a record of the sequence of events occurring during a frame. This would include: fouls committed, balls potted with their values and which player potted them for each frame completed. This is intended to provide the definitive record for the frame. Note that, with the exception of player names, match identification and the date, no other information (such as the frame score) should be stored on disc.
(e) Recalling a frame's record from disc. The application must be able to process the data recalled from disc for any chosen frame and provide the following information:
i) the frame score and the highest break for each player,
ii) the number of points conceded as fouls by each player,
iii) the number of times each player visited the table,
vi) the number of times each colour ball (not reds or free balls) was
v) potted in the frame as a whole by each player.
The application must be developed as a client/server system using the loopback address so the client and the server can be run on the same computer.
The client will include the graphical User Interface (GUI) which will facilitate the entry of player names, a method of scoring, a method of displaying all required information and interaction with the server to allow data to be sent to it and recalled from it. See above for detailed requirements.
The server must facilitate the storage to and retrieval from floppy disc of match data and interaction with the client. The server need only be capable of interacting with a single client.
The Application (continued)
In addition to your report (see next page), you must submit a 3.5 inch virus checked floppy disc (CD's are NOT acceptable) which must contain four folders, described below, and nothing else.
Folder 1: The clientSource folder. Must contain all client source files and nothing else.
Folder 2: The clientClass folder. Must contain all client class files and nothing else.
Folder 3: The serverSource folder. Must contain all server source files and nothing else.
Folder 4: The serverClass folder. Must contain all server class files and nothing else.
Any number of client classes may be developed, but the class containing the client's main method must be called client. Any number of server classes may be developed, but the class containing the server's main method must be called server.
All applications must be executable directly from the command prompt window, without the use of an additional Integrated Development Environment such as Eclipse or JBuilder. You must clearly identify which version of Java you have used to develop your application.
Note that it will not be possible for you to include class files corresponding to source files which do not compile correctly. You must, however, include all of your source files in the appropriate folder regardless of whether or not they compile.
You should place the floppy disc in a small envelope and tape it to the front sheet of your report so that no text on the front sheet is obscured. Do not apply tape to the disc itself.
Report Submission Details (30 marks)
Your report must contain the following elements:
(a) a well commented source listing of the application source code (whether functional
or not). Note that sections of code which do not function correctly should be clearly identified by the words "NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL" and accompanied by a brief hand written explanation of the problem.
(b) a maximum of four screen shots showing the application in action
(c) a conclusion, with clearly marked sub-headings, which must include:
i) a clear statement of the extent of the application's functionality,
ii) a brief explanation of how to use your version of the application,
iii) a description of how you have made the application robust,
iv) any other commentary that you feel is relevant.
Your report must be presented on A4 sheets of paper which must be stapled together at the top left corner to allow access to all of the report�s contents without removing the staple.
If your report is too thick to be secured using a staple, punch a hole in the top left corner and bind the pages together with a treasury tag.
Your report must not be submitted in any type of cover or folder.
Your name, my name and the module number must be clearly displayed on the front sheet of your submission.
No other information, designs or motifs should appear on the front sheet.
Note that all the pages of this assignment must be submitted with your report and must immediately follow the front sheet.
Your report must NOT be submitted electronically and must NOT be included on your floppy disc.

Student Report Structure
     1. Write and submit an original report relating to the design of your Java application.
     2. Provide a printed report. Your mark will primarily be obtained from your printed report.
     3. The contents of the report must be completely original, this includes text, diagrams and any simple examples.
     4. Students are required to submit a disk with their JBuilder Java Projects.
     5. Students must put their disk in an envelope and attach it their report.
     6. If the disk is directly sellotaped to the report their project code will be allocated a mark of 0.
     7. The report submitted must not exceed the page count excluding the front sheet and index.
     8. Students should print on just one side of the paper.
     9. Staple your report at the top left hand corner.
     10. Do not use plastic folders or envelopes that must be taken apart and reassembled.
     11. Required font type Arial or Times Roman and size 12.
     12. To obtain high marks students must present work that has a high technical content with clear diagrams and a good standard of original English (your own work), that is not taken from standard textbooks, papers or websites.

There should be a number of BRF+ tutorials available in SCN which discuss the FDT APIs. You can have a look at them to get an idea of the various APIs available and their uses.
For your usecase, you should do the following.
        lo_fdt_function         TYPE REF TO if_fdt_function,
        lo_fdt_result           TYPE REF TO if_fdt_result,
* Get function handle
      CALL METHOD lo_fdt_factory->get_function
        EXPORTING
          iv_id       = lv_function_id
        RECEIVING
          ro_function = lo_fdt_function.
where lv_function_id is the GUID of the BRF+ function . You can either make it a constant , or you can use a FDT API to get the function GUID from the BRF+ application name and function name.
*   Set function context
    TRY.
        CALL METHOD lo_fdt_context->set_value
          EXPORTING
            iv_id    =
            ia_value =
This is one way to set the input context ( pass the input to the BRF+ function to process ). There are other ways to do this as well. Which one you use would depend on the kind of input you want to pass.

Another direct way of doing it would be to use the method PROCESS of the class CL_FDT_FUNCTION_PROCESS.
I have not gone into much explaination here , but it should provide you an idea of how you can go about it.Read the SCN docs on the APIs to get a better idea , or better still if you can get hold of a copy of the BRF+ book by Carsten Ziegler , you will get an end to end explaination of all BRF+ APIs in it.

Immediate HELP in Tomcat 5 to Postgresql 7.4 database connectivity problem

Hi,
I failed to connect Tomcat 5.0.24 with Postgresql
7.4.2. The files created by me and the changes i had
made in the existing files are rates.jsp,
conversionDAO.java, web.xml and server.xml. The error
message on the top of the rest of it was "The value of
useBean class attribute converter.conversionDAO is
invalid". So far I found out that the coding for
database connectivity purpose in conversionDAO.java
cause the error. Another thing is Postgresql jdbc
driver is required to set in the CLASSPATH for the
java file to access the Postgresql database. I don't
know where should I put it in Tomcat for web
application. Anyway, I put it in
$CATALINA_HOME/shared/lib according the book i
refered. I do the database connectivity coding refer
to the Tomcat Kick Start book from Sams Publishing.

Hi experts - cannot run HTTPS on tomcat as a service application

I have configured HTTPS on my tomcat 4.1 web server.
Now, when I run Tomcat as a console application it works fine and there is no problem. But When I run Tomcat as a service application, the server starts as a service properly but when I try to access the pages it says that "The Page Cannot Be Displayed"
The configuration for HTTPS in conf/server.xml file is like this:

Yes, though it is hard to predict by how much. When debugging is
enabled, after each node on the diagram there will be a small amount of
compiled code to test if the VI has a probe, a breakpoint, execution
hiliting, or the pause button is pressed. The code is quite small,
about two or three instructions, but if you have twenty nodes in a loop
and the nodes are doing simple math, these instructions could be 25%
overhead. For more complex nodes or datatypes, these instructions turn
into a fraction of a percent.
Turn it off and measure. If you have other performance problems, read
the documentation on the profiler and use it to help you find yo

I need some help regarding the processing of an IMAP attachment , It is a basic IOStream related question I guess.
I have some attachment to a mail , I try to fetch it using javamail and read the content and write it to a file , I was able to do it successfully when I was using stream.read( tempBuffer) function but when I started using stream.read( tempBuffer, 0, m_maxDataSize ); it is giving me following exception

I know this is a bit late but I came accross this thread trying to resolve this same problem and came up with a solution that worked for me, so thought I would share it here too. I hope it helps someone else.
I just resolved this on Win Vista (should apply equally for Win7 too). Please uninstall iTunes before proceeding though. I'll walk you through the process I followed, if you like you can jump straight to the Solution section.
Problems:
The initial error during the installation of iTunes was:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken='1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",processorarchitecture="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT:0x8007054F
The error (after installing iTunes) when trying to run iTunes was:
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes. Please uninstall iTunes, then install iTunes again. Error 2 (Windows error 2).
After trying various fixes around the forums I came across this MSKB article, which relates to the first installation error:

This lead me to trying to install MS Visual C++ but I received the following error trying to install that:

Note: The installation of VC++ rolls back when it fails.

Note: Please backup your registry first (see the above MSKB article for instructions).
I opened the registry and (as instructed in the MSKB article) deleted the following keys:

NextQueueEntryIndex
AdvancedInstallersNeedResolving
Reboot and reinstall iTunes.
