HELP Required in Copying  file on to a shared disk.

Hi all,
I am seriously struggling to copy a file on to a shared disk using java code. It is a web application and i am supposed to move a file from server to a shared folder on some other system. I can ping the system on to which i need to copy the file. I can manually copy the file on to that disk from the server. But i am unable to do it through Java code. It would be very help ful, if some one can help me on this with a piece of code.
I have administrator access on the server on which application is running.
Deepthi.

Can't you mount the remote share into the local filesystem? Say, by mapping a network drive, or using nfs/smbfs filesystem types? Then you should be able to copy the file as if it was local.

  • Help can't copy files just says screen sharing available?????

I can do everything else but for some reason can't copy files. i've noticed that suddenly all computers have screen sharing available. i know its not the clients as it works fine on another mac. but on this one it just fails all the time. i've checked the version and they are both the same 3.2.2 but i am flumuxed. i reinstalled last week and thought it had resolved but then suddenly today it happened again. does anybody know why this is happening?

+Is this the recommended procedure from apple?+
Not really. It's simply common troubleshooting techniques that have been used time and time again by many who've experienced problems generally. Some are recommended by Apple. Search as many of the boards as you can and you'll find these tips/recommendations mentioned countless times as well as many others. Sometimes its not something directly related to ARD that is causing ARD to have a problem.
+did you after some test get to the conclusion that this will solve the problem?+
No testing as such. Sometimes it solves the problems other times it does not. It's offered as something for you try before you contemplate something more drastic such as reinstalling a clean OS followed by a reinstall of ARD. Or ultimately a reformat and reinstall.
I can see from your later post that it's not worked for you. I'm not surprised. Sometimes there are deeper underlying problems that only a reinstall or reformat and reinstall will 'cure' or possibly a solution offered by another poster? What was offered here was only meant as a possibility that might assist. As a computer user - regardless of platform - you should know this?

  • HELP! Cannot copy files off Time Capsule

I have a 1TB Time Capsule (DualBand) that I use like a NAS (network attached storage). Time Machine is disabled, but I manually copy files on the Time Capsule's disk when I want to back them up, and share them with other computers in my house.
I am trying to copy all of the files of the Time Capsule to a 2 TB Firewire 800 drive connected to my MacBook Pro, but I'm having a problem. About half-way through the the copy process (which is estimated to be an over-night ordeal) the Time Capsule is disconnected and I get the error:
+The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data+
+in "" could not be read or written.+
    +(Error code -36)+
Also, the disconnected Time Capsule is still visible in the SHARED portion of my Finder's sidebar, but it is impossible to connect to the disk again, unless I unplug the Time Capsule and power it back up.
Every time I try the process, I receive the same error, and have to restart my Time Capsule again. Could someone please help me get my data off my Time Capsule? I would prefer not to have to resort to ripping it open, so I can put the drive into my USB Toaster.
NOTE: I've tried repairing disk permissions on my MBP and repairing disk on my 2TB external drive. I've found no way to do any of these kinds of things on the Time Capsule's internal disk.

I don't have a direct solution to your disconnection problem, but if your 2 TB drive has a USB port, you may be able to connect it to your Time Capsule and use the "Archive" function (in AirPort Utility's Disks/Disks panel) to copy that data from the Time Capsule disk.

  • How can i copy files from one external hard disk to another using macbook pro with retina display

How can i copy files from one external hard drive to another using macbook pro with retina display?

That's odd - if you open Disk Utility (Applications->Utilities) and select the disk(s), how are they formatted? If you're only going to be used with your Mac, they should be formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)".

  • Cant copy files from a crushed hard disk

    Hello,
I use macbook pro (bought few months ago from the US) with 10.6.3 OS. I had a 500GB hard disk and had MacOS and Windows 7 installed through Parallel's Plesk.
Few days ago, the computer frooze and i had to reboot. Once i reboot, i got the flashing folder with question mark logo. Googled and found out that my hard disk may have crushed. I replaced it with another 500GB hard disk.
    Now this is what happened:
    1. I installed MacOS again on the new hard drive
    2. Got a SATA disk connecter and connected my old drive, MacOS recognized the disk and the two partitions were opened with errors. The main partition where i have all my files were there. I actually was able to get most of my files.
    3. I used migration wizard to move all my settings, applications to the new hard disk but i failed to migration the /users folder. It keeps saying calculating... and never finishes.
    4. I tried to copy files manually but it seems like all files are locked! I could not change the file permissions.
I googled and found out a software called testdisk to repair partitions, followed all steps but failed. I kept getting message that the partiion table is corrupt or resource busy. I run pdisk and get the following error message:
pdisk: No valid block 1 on '/dev/rdisk1'
pdisk: No valid block 1 on '/dev/rdisk0'
Partition map (with 2048 byte blocks) on '/dev/rdisk2'

Anybody has an idea how i get my /user folder contents as i have all my mails, saved passwords, application settings gone! A big headache to manually fix them all?
    Farshid

Googled and found out that my hard disk may have crushed. I replaced it with another 500GB hard disk.
If this drive physically died, then it would have been covered under the warranty, since the machine is only a few months old. However, that does not sound like what happened.
If you're able to mount this drive, then it wasn't physically damaged and did not need to be replaced. In the future, you need to verify that the disk is dead before spending the money on replacing it!
In order to repair the drive, you can try Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder in your Applications folder. If Disk Utility is unable to repair it, try [DiskWarrior|http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html] or [TechTool Pro|http://www.micromat.com>. I'm not sure what this "testdisk" software is, I've never heard of it.
If these three utilities are not able to repair the drive, there's no repairing it. Your only choice will be to use a data recovery tool, like [Data Rescue|http://www.prosofteng.com> or [File Salvage|http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1]. If those don't work, you'll have to pay the big money for a data recovery service.
Of course, all this could have been easily avoided. You MUST have backups of any data you don't want to lose! If you had a backup, you could have simply erased the hard drive and restored from the backup. For the future, see my [Mac Backup Guide|http://www.reedcorner.net/thomas/guides/backups> for assistance getting started with backups.

  • Can't see files on airport extreme shared disk

I have a airport extreme and had a external harddrive connected via usb, formated fat32. I was able to see and use all files on it within my network via imac or xp,vista and win 7. I decided to buy a wd mybook with larger drive to give myself more storage. When I received the my book, out of the box it was formatted fat32. so I attached it to my vista machine via usb and copied the files I had on the airport shared disk to it. now, when I hook up the mybook to my airport and connect to it from any machine on my network I can't see my files. I can connect to fine but, its like they are hidden. I can tell they are there because of how much space is used up on the drive.

I have seen others have issues with those mybook drives, and I think they have s0me sort of DRM built in. What type of files are these?

  • Time Capsule: Files lost after Secure Shared Disk: with accounts

I Changed the Disks: Secure Shared Disk option to 'with accounts' on my Time Capsule and now all files are invisible. It looks the files must be still on the disks because of the amount of free/used bytes used that is displayed.
How can I restore the 'old' files?

Restore the old files by removing the accounts.. ie press and hold reset.. once you go back to a reset all files are available again anyway so the security is illusionary.
If you want to secure files encrypt them.
BTW the old airport utility would have warned you that what you were doing will stop access to your files.
Of course the latest toyland utility probably showed you nothing.
Never start accounts with files on the TC.. you should offload them.. create accounts then load them back.. to the illusion of security at least.

  • Help required - transfering music files

    Can anyone help?
I had about 1000 songs on my laptop which I put onto my ipod - the transfer method was via real player. The transfer appeared succesful and the music is on my ipod.
However I cant play it - and now I've deleted it from my hard drive.....the music only exists in a kind of invisible iPOD file.
I need to take the music off my ipod (I can play it on my computer when my iPOD is connected) and put them back onto my hard drive and this time use iTUNES to transfer my music......*but is there anyway of putting my music back onto my hard drive?*

*is there anyway of putting my music back onto my hard drive?*
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only

    YamiPod Mac and Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • New air, copying files from desktop to hard disk requires authentication

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I learned today that Lion requires you give read and write permissions to "everyone" on the hard disk otherwise you have to authenticate every time you try to copy a file from the desktop to the hard disk.

As is you can only copy from an NTFS drive. You cannot write to one from OS X without third-party support such as NTFS 12.0.39.

  • Basic help required for multiple files to be opened from Bridge to PS

    Hi
I am attempting to shave off a few hours from my workflow and because I'm new to Bridge I'm unsure how to do this. I'm pretty sure anyone out there with a small working knowledge of Bridge or CS3 could help me.
I am attempting to open three instances of the same RAW file into CS3 from Bridge. The three instances, although the same image, need to go through CameraRaw and change the exposure. One normally exposed, one +2 exposure and one -2 exposure. As you may have worked out I am attempting a pseudo-hdr effect with the one RAW file.
How do I, with just one click, open the file three times, change the exposure each time, and then save the differently exposed files as tiffs?
If it's ImageProcessor that I need to use then I'll admit I can't quite work out the rules for doing this!
    Any help gratefully received.

  • Help required with text file handling in GPIB

Hi attached is my vi for GPIB communication with Aginelt Network Analyzer in Labview 8.
I'm saving the data of network analyser into text file(appending all the data). I wish to make some changes into it. As can be seen there is a input which asks for number of points/segments. Supposed I give that input as 201 points(it can be 401,801,1601,51,etc.) than after every 201 points data should get appended into a new coloumn and not into 202 row. Seperate coloumn should start for the whole set of 201 points, where as currently what is happening is all the data is getting appended one below the other.
    Can anyone help around,

  • Help required with downloading files from inside WEB-INF folder

I am working on a web application and I have an upload script which uploads different files to a foler called 'uploads' . To stop users from accessing the folder content I have put it in the /WEB-INF/.
In my JSP file, I used to link to the uploaded files like this before for users to download them :
    if(filesListIterator.hasNext()
    files = (FilesBean)filesListIterator.next();
    <tr><td><a target="_new" href="<%=files.getFileName()%>">"<%=files.getFileName()%></a></td></tr>
}I need to know how to alter the above link to make it access/download files from the /WEB-INF/uploads/ while still restricting direct access to the files.
    Thanks

Anything under WEB-INF is not directly accessible via the browser/ client. You could try defining the JSP/ Servlet inside web.xml deployment descriptor and see if you can access the file from there.
I think a better way to accomplish this would be to keep the file outside WEB-INF , and use other techniques to protect the folder that contains the file - for example password-protection, or defining a .htaccess file and serving a 403 Forbidden error.

  • How to Copy Files from Corrupt Time Machine Disk

Following a series of power outages, my TM disk became corrupted. When I tried to repair with disk utility, I got the message: Unable to repair, copy as many files as you can and then reformat the disk.
My question: Is there any way to capture all/part of my TM backups (they contain a history going back many months that I'd prefer not to lose)? Though I can dig in and get individual files, when trying for anything larger (like the series of backups), they are unable to copy with the files/folders being locked/read only.
Any help would be appreciated. I'll move to a 2 drive backup system after this!
    Thanks

TM performs a backup in a rather unusual manner. An initial backup stores all the files in a disc image file. It then creates a special type of alias for each file. When you look through a TM backup you are looking at the aliases, not the files themselves.
If the drive's directory is the only thing corrupted and Disk Utility cannot repair it, then I suggest trying Disk Warrior that can repair many directory problems that Disk Utility cannot.
Otherwise, you will need to go through the backup with the TM application and attempt to restore the good files to another hard drive. Also,
See User Tips for Time Machine for help with TM problems. Also you can select Mac Help from the Finder's Help menu and search for "time machine" to locate articles on how to use TM. See also Mac 101- Time Machine.

  • AirPort Disk Access Existing files when changing Secure Shared Disks with Accounts

    Hey, community;
I have a 1TB Disk which I was using on my Mac, then upon aquisition of an AirPort Extreme Base Station, plugged it into there. File sharing was fine when set to "AirPort Password" for Security settings, but when I changed to "Accounts" and set up accounts, the existing paritions were there... they just couldn't be accessed.
Tried finding the solution online, to no avail.
Just writing to say I've solved this! Once you set the Security type to "Accounts," folders now appear on your USB Drive, one for each user you set up, as well as a "Shared" folder.
I just dumped the existing contents of the drive into the "Shared" folder, and now everyone can access those original files.
I hope this helps someone out.

Restore the old files by removing the accounts.. ie press and hold reset.. once you go back to a reset all files are available again anyway so the security is illusionary.
