Help Tracing In CS4

I'm not familiar with the tracing option, and what I am doing it not working based on online tutorials.
I placed a jpg or tiff image in CS4. It's a loose line art sketch done in Photoshop with a pen and tablet. (sketch is a greyish hue not black)
In CS4 I selected the image, then go into Live Trace Options.  I choose Black and White. Fills, Strokes, Preview and ignore White Spaces.  I then apply the trace.
The image just turns into white nothingness with a bounding box. When I look under "Outline" view there is nothing there either.
What steps am I missing? Thxs

vector tracing will only be as good as the original
Of course.
Manual tracing with the Pen tool is by far your best bet, even though it will take some time.
That way you can position the anchors optimally.
And use fills, not strokes, for jobs like yours.
Any kind of automatic tracing will invariably put the anchors in more or less wrong places.
