• Passing dynamic parameter to stored procedure from CR formula?

Dear all,
I need to insert in some textboxes the right string based on the desired Language Code.
I crated a stored procedure in my db.
CREATE PROCEDURE MY_GET_TRANSLATION
@TextID nvarchar(8),
@LangCode int
This parameters are used as keys to get the Trans field.
I created a workshop formula: GetTranslation
Please, can someone suggest the correct statement to call my MY_GET_TRANSLATION stored procedure passing parameters?
I would like to call the GetTranslation formula from all my textboxes, passing the specific TextID value
and visualized the right translated string.
For example:
in my TEXT1 textbox, I would like to call the GetTranslation formula passing the parameters
TextID = "T000001"
and
LangCode = 13    (Italian language)
How can pass dynamic parameters to a formula?
How can pass dynamic parameters to a stored procedure from a CR formula?

Dear Jason,
I'm trying to modify a SAP B1 CR marketing report.
This CR marketing document is called by SAP B1 automatically passing the Document Number and Document Type.
The report uses the right SAP B1 tables to read the information of the header and rows of the document.
The language of the document is contained in a field of the header table
{MyMarketingDocTable.LanguageID}
I created a user table named "MyTranslationTable" where I added some strings in different langiages.
For example:
TexiID            TextString              LangID
T00001          Delivery                          8
T00001          Consegna                     13       (Italian translation)
T00002          Invoice                           8
T00002          Fattura                         13       (Italian translation)
In the header of the report I'd like, for example, to visualise the string "Consegna" if my document is a delivery in italian language.
I'd like to implement this method to translate all the textboxes (header, comments, etc.) based on the languageID of my document.
For each textboxes, in the CR designer statically I know what TextID I want to visualized but dinamically I need to pass to my stored procedure the right language. I'd like my report automatically gets the language at run-time. I don't want that when I press the Print-preview button in SAP B1, the report asks to prompt the languageID.
It already read the DocNum and DocType and it already filter the SAP B1 tables basing on the DocNum and DocType of the document. In this way it reads the right row in the SAP B1 table and in this way I can read all the fields of this row (also the languageID of the actual document).

• Passing Parameter to Stored Procedure from Form

Hello All,
I have been stuck while passing a form parameter to a database Procedure.In the query data source arguments I have provided the parameter Value as :parameter.parameter_1...Is it right...
Can somebody throw some more light on this...
Regards,
Kaps

You can pass the parameters from Forms through the Query Data Source Arguments of this block.
There are a little example on http://www.Friedhold-Matz.de/appl_plan.htm.
I used in block B the Query Data Source Arguments property to fill the
procedure input arguments with the :PARAMTER.P_name of this Form.
Hope it helps

• How can i pass the parameter for strored procedure from java

dear all,
I am very new for stored procedure
1. I want to write the strored procedure for insert.
2. How can i pass the parameter for that procedure from java.
if any material available in internet create procedure and call procedure from java , and passing parameter to procedure from java

Hi Ram,
To call the callable statement use the below sample.
stmt = conn.prepareCall("{call <procedure name>(?,?)}");
stmt.setString(1,value);//Input parameter
stmt.registerOutParameter(2,Types.BIGINT);//Output parameter
stmt.execute();
seq = (int)stmt.getLong(2);//Getting the result from the procedure.

• I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/

I am trying to pass the value of a field from the seeded page /oracle/apps/asn/opportunity/webui/OpptyDetPG. The value I want is in the VO oracle.apps.asn.opportunity.server.OpportunityDetailsVO and the field PartyName.
I have created a button on the page whose destination URL is
OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName={#PartyName}
It opens the correct page, but in the URL it shows this
http://aa.com:8005/OA_HTML/OA.jsp?OAFunc=XX_CS_SR_QUERY&CustName=&_ti=1897289736&oapc=177&oas=x5E2TIfP1Y0FykBt1ek4ug..
You can see that &CustName is not getting the proper value. Do I need to do something different?

You cannot call the form with OA.jsp . This is applicable only for OAF based pages registered as a function.
For calling a Form, use the below example:
You have to change the application responsibility key and form function name .
"form:PN:PN:STANDARD:XXPNTLEASE:QUERY_LEASE_ID={@QueryLeaseNumber}"

• Call Stored Procedure from Forms 6i -- Urgent Plz...

Dear All,
I am first writing a stored procedure as:-
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION
good_hire
(birthdate_in IN DATE,
reqsal_in IN NUMBER)
RETURN BOOLEAN
IS
too_young BOOLEAN :=
ADD_MONTHS
(SYSDATE, -216) >
birthdate_in;
too_expensive BOOLEAN :=
reqsal_in > fin.dept_bal;
BEGIN
RETURN NOT (too_young
OR too_expensive);
END;
Now in my forms also i have the same function,which i defined in in my program unit i.e., with the same name good_hire,but with different parameters.
If I want to call this stored procedure(good_hire)in my form
I am writing this code in the pre-Insert trigger.
IF good_hire
(:newemp.birthdate,
:newemp.proposed_sal)
THEN
SELECT empseq.NEXTVAL
INTO :newemp.empno
FROM dual;
ELSE
RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
END IF;
Notice that i am sending bind variables from my form to the
stored procedure. Now my question :
1) Can i pass bind variables to the stored procedures from
forms or is there any other way i can access the
stored roceures from forms(Expecting a detailed answer) and
from which triggers can I access the stored procedures(like pre-
Insert here)?
2) If at all I have the same parameters in my program unit
function and with the same name good_hire, I know that the code
in the pre-Insert trigger will call only the function in my
program unit and not the stored procedure, but if I like to
call my stored procedure instead of the local function good_hire
then what should I do?
2)As I said before if i have different parameters, for the
stored procedure good_hire and local function good_hire and If
I call good_hire from my pre-insert trigger .. Is it that the
Forms will decide and call the Local function or stored
procedure depending on the parameter list?
I hope all my points are very clear.
I am expecting the best and detailed answer for my
Queries, I also hope these Quests will clear the doubts of many
members in our esteemed group.
Thnx in Advance...
Regards
siree....

Dear Siree,
Oh!! how many Questions? Each how much big??
Ok First of all the answer to your first question.
You can use the Stored procedures in the same way as the Forms procedures. You can pass bind variables to the stored procedures as well. You can also use the stored procedures in any triggers, I think there are no restrictions for that. The only thing is you should be connected to database while compiling the trigger where you are calling the stored procedure.
Answer to your second question.
You cannot direct Forms (I don't know about version 10g), untill 9i, you cannot tell forms to take the stored procedure and leave the local procedure. It will always take the local procedure, once a procedure is called. If not found locally then only it will go for the Stored procedures.
For your third question.
As I told you b4 forms searches for the procedure being called locally first, if locally present, does not go to the stored procedure. If declared by different paramaters in the stored procedure and it is called, then it will throw error (as it first searches for the name locally and if found will take up the one present locally and since that procedure is with different parameter, will throw up error). It is after all a stupid machine and can't think like us.

• Calling a COBOL stored proc from Java Servlet

I am trying to call a COBOL stored proc from a Java Servlet. The stored proc is stored on a DB2 database. I need to send 6 inputs to the COBOL stored proc and the output will be the return code of the stored proc. I'm not sure if I'm going about this the right way. This is how my code looks...
public int callStoredProc(CallableStatement cstmt,
Connection con,
String sYear,
String sReportNbr,
String sSystemCode,
String sUserId,
String sModuleNbr,
String sFormId){
int iParm1 = 0;
try{
Class.forName ("sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver");
catch(ClassNotFoundException ex){
System.out.println("Failed to locate database driver: "
+ ex.toString());
return iParm1;
try{
cstmt = con.prepareCall("{? = CALL MKTPZ90C
cstmt.registerOutParameter(1, Types.INTEGER);
cstmt.setString(2, sYear);
cstmt.setString(3, sReportNbr);
cstmt.setString(4, sSystemCode);
cstmt.setString(5, sUserId);
cstmt.setString(6, sModuleNbr);
cstmt.setString(7, sFormId);
cstmt.execute();
iParm1 = cstmt.getInt(1);
CloseSQLStatement(cstmt);
catch(SQLException ex) {
CloseSQLStatement(cstmt);
System.out.println("SQL exception occurred:" +
ex.toString());
return iParm1;
return iParm1;
Could someone tell me if this is the right way to go about doing this?
Thanks!!!!!!

I didn't see the code where you create the database connection (variable "con"). However, the answer to your question "Is this the right way...", for me, is "Anything that works is the right way." So try it. That's a first approximation, but once you have something that works you can start on improving it, if that becomes necessary.

• Call stored proc from inside sp

I am trying to call a stored proc from inside a stored proc and the stored proc needs to return a ref_cursor. I am trying to loop over the returned ref_cursor, but my problem is that when I compile the sp it says the ref_cursor is not a procedure or is undefined. Can anyone please tell me why I am getting this error? Refer to the code below!
create or replace
PROCEDURE TCS_GetPartReferenceData
contracts IN VARCHAR2
, showInWork IN INTEGER
, userClock IN VARCHAR2
, intMaxResults IN INTEGER
, ret_cursor OUT SYS_REFCURSOR
) AS
p_cursor SYS_REFCURSOR;
BEGIN
TCS_GETDRNSFORCONTRACTS(contracts
, showinwork
, userClock
, intmaxresults
, p_cursor);
for r in p_cursor loop
dbms_output.put_line(r.puid);
end loop;
END TCS_GetPartReferenceData;

Probably you want sth. like
CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE tcs_getpartreferencedata (contracts IN VARCHAR2,
showinwork      IN     INTEGER,
userclock       IN     VARCHAR2,

BEGIN
tcs_getdrnsforcontracts (contracts,

END tcs_getpartreferencedata;
var cur refcursor
exec tcs_getpartreferencedata(contracts_value,showinwork_value,userclock_value,intmaxresults_value, :cur)
print curfill in appropriate values for the parameters _value ....

• Can we call a Java Stored Proc from a PL/SQL stored Proc?

Hello!
Do you know how to call a Java Stored Proc from a PL/SQL stored Proc? is it possible? Could you give me an exemple?
If yes, in that java stored proc, can we do a call to an EJB running in a remote iAS ?
Thank you!

For the java stored proc called from pl/sql, the example above that uses dynamic sql should word :
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE MyPackage AS
TYPE Ref_Cursor_t IS REF CURSOR;
FUNCTION get_good_ids RETURN VARCHAR2 ;
FUNCTION get_plsql_table_A RETURN Ref_Cursor_t;
END MyPackage;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY MyPackage AS
FUNCTION get_good_ids RETURN VARCHAR2
AS LANGUAGE JAVA
NAME 'MyServer.getGoodIds() return java.lang.String';
FUNCTION get_plsql_table_A RETURN Ref_Cursor_t
IS table_cursor Ref_Cursor_t;
good_ids VARCHAR2(100);
BEGIN
good_ids := get_good_ids();
OPEN table_cursor FOR 'SELECT id, name FROM TableA WHERE id IN ( ' | | good_ids | | ')';
RETURN table_cursor;
END;
END MyPackage;

public static String getGoodIds() throws SQLException {
return "1, 3, 6 ";

• Calling Stored procedure from Forms 6i

Dear all,
I have a stored procedure having INand INOUT parameters. I need to call it from Forms 6i triggers. Will you please tell me the syntax for calling stored procedure and stored function from Forms 6i and report 6i.
Saibaldas
[email protected]

Just the same as for a local procedure, the only restrictions concern package public variables which are not visible from client side PL/SQL, and you probly want to keep the interfaces simple as client side PL/SQL (e.g. the Forms and Reports engines) don't support the same range of datatypes that the database does.

• Can i call stored proc from VOImpl, not from AM?

Hi,
i know how to invoke proc from bb defined in AM...
in VOImpl i have a method getSelectedRows()
which gets me rows selected in table by user.
how can i invoke stored proc from there?
Edited by: grodno on Jan 31, 2013 3:35 AM

Hi,
its exactly the same code. The only missing link you have is the access to the transaction. In a Viewimpl file just call this.getApplicationModule() to get access to an application module.
The method can also be exposed on a client interface (same as for AM)

• Unable to pass the values to stored proc using presentation variable in OBI

Hi All,
Need your help regarding in resolving an issue in OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
There is an OBIEE requirement whereby two prompts need to be defined.
1.     Textbox prompt
2.     Drop-down prompt
The dropdown values should be populated using textbox prompt. So, we have used presentation variable in textbox prompt and passing the same to select query of drop-down.
Until this step, the report works just fine.
Now, the value in both textbox and drop-down needs to be passed to stored proc.
While trying to pass the values by using the presentation variable, the following error comes-up saying
Session variable has no value definition.
Note:Although the corresponding session variable has been set to default value,still the error appears.
Please advise.
Regards,
Prasad

"Session variable has no value definition" I'm assuming typo error and it should be presentation variable.
Set default value for presentation variable that may work

• Passing array args into stored procs

Hi,
we are trying to use TopLink to perform the mapping of a pretty large schema (200+ tables). For the purpose UI presentation we only need a few different view types, not the full information in the schema, so we want to provide specific "view objects" mapped to the DB that can be batch read by their ids.
Defining views in the DB and mapping these to objects with TopLink doesn't work well because the views require joins and the tables are pretty large (the WHERE IN on the ids of the rows to read from the view is only applied after the entire view is instantiated).
Alternatively, we are trying to use stored procedures that take a VARRAY or TABLE OF INTEGER as input arg and return respective cursors. However, we couldn't figure out how to pass array infos into a stored proc using TopLink. Any suggestions?
Thx,
Olaf

I believe when you're doing it with an insert, you're saying "execute this insert statement a bunch of times, here's all the values in advance", which is different than passing an array to a stored procedure where you want it to execute once.
Oracle's ODBC driver doesnt support Associative Arrays (aka index-by tables).
Hope it helps,
Greg

• URGENT: CLOB as output parameter for stored proc

HELP
I am unable to execute a stored procedure which has a CLOB defined as an output parameter from my Java code. It executes just fine from the SQL Plus promt.
When I try to run it through JDBC I get a PLS-00306 error.
I am using the Thin JDBC driver. When I try to compile using the OCI driver, I get class not found compile errors trying to import oracle.sql.*.
Thanks!
Donna J. Polk

The oracle.sql.* classes are part of the Oracle JDBC Driver.
Update your CLASSPATH variable to include $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/classes12_01.zip for JDK 1.2 or $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/classes111.zip for JDK 1.1.x
