Help Understanding Query V$SESSION

Hi,
Below is the query I am executing.
I would like to clearly understand what does it mean?
SQL> select program,machine,prev_sql_id from v$session where module = 'DCShipmentCompleteDaemon' and server = 'NONE';
PROGRAM MACHINE PREV_SQL_ID
[email protected] fc-api-rno1-101.rno1.amazon.com 8733zd08ytmj1
SQL> select sql_text from v$sqlarea where sql_id = '8733zd08ytmj1';
SQL_TEXT
select FCSKU_PROP_XML_ID, FCSKU, FCSKU_MODEL_VERSION, PROPERTY, DATA_SOURCE, XML, XML_CREATION_DATE_UTC, WAREHOUSE_ID, RECONCILIATION_STATUS from FCSKU_PROPERTY_XML where FCSKU = :fcsku and FCSKU_MODEL_VERSION = :fcsku_model_version and PROPERTY = :property_name and RECONCILIATION_STATUS = :recon_status order by XML_CREATION_DATE_UTC desc
Is the query “select FCSKU_PROP_XML_ID….” Shown above being executed by DCShipmentCompleteDaemon ?
Also, another question is how will the module name be registered in a Database or V$SESSION table more appropriately? Can 2 binaries having different names point to same module name?
Thanks,
Raja.

That indicates that the last statement executed by this program in the particular session was the SELECT statement you posted. There is another SQL_ID column in V$SESSION that would tell you the current SQL statement being executed by a session, assuming the session was active.

The module is set by the client application. So it is entirely possible for two different applications to set the same module name, for a program to change the module name repeatedly, etc. You can look at the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package to see how you can set the module and action for a session in your own code, for example.

  • Need some help understanding the way materialized views are applied through

    Hi, I need some help understanding the way materialized views are applied through adpatch.
    In patch 1, we have a mv with build mode immediate. When applying it PTS hang due to pool performance of mv refresh.
    So we provide patch 2, with that mv build mode deferred, hoping it'll go through. But patch 2 hang too on the same mv.
    How does this work? Is that because mv already exists in the database with build immediate, patch 2 will force it to refresh first before changing build mode? How to get over this?
    Thanks,
    Wei

    Hi Hussein,
    Thank you for the response.
    Application release is 11.5.10.
    Patch 1 is MSC11510: 8639586 ASCP ENGINE RUP#38 PATCH FOR 11.5.10 BRANCH
    Patch 2 is MSC11510: 9001833 APCC MSC_PHUB_CUSTOMERS_MV WORKER IS STUCK ON "DB FILE SEQUENTIAL READ" 12 HOURS
    The MV is APPS.MSC_PHUB_CUSTOMERS_MV
    This happens at customer environment but not reproducable in our internal environment, as our testing data is much smaller.
    Taking closer look in the logs, I saw actually when applying both patch 1 and patch 2, MV doesn't exist in the database. So seems my previous assumption is wrong. Still, strange that patch 2 contains only one file which is the MV.xdf, it took 7 hours and finally got killed.

    Hmmm...why does this look familiar?
    F_GET_POD_RECEIVED_DATE (ship_BUY.SHIPMENT_GID)  <= to_char(to_date('31-JUL-2013', 'DD-MON-YYYY'), 'dd-mon-yyyy')
    SHIP_BUY.INSERT_DATE > '1-JAN-2007'
    Like I said in your other thread about this, these two lines need to be fixed and your function needs to be fixed so the return statement doesn't do an implicit date conversion.
    Can't you see what that first line is doing?  You're taking a character string, turning it into a date, then back to a character string.
    If nothing else, these lines should be...
    F_GET_POD_RECEIVED_DATE (ship_BUY.SHIPMENT_GID)  <= to_date('31-JUL-2013', 'DD-MON-YYYY')
    SHIP_BUY.INSERT_DATE > to_date('01-JAN-2007','DD-MON-YYYY')
    (assuming insert_date is a proper date format, fingers crossed)

  • I need help understanding how the Apple components integrate to create a system across all my devices?

    I need help understanding how the Apple components connect to create a whole system across all my devices?
    Is there a resource that describes current system and associated functionality?
    For example:
    Buy A, B, C to achieve "X"
    You will need:
    an internet provider which supports <specs>
    add D to achieve "Y"
    You will need:
    an internet provider which supports <specs>
    add "E" to achieve "Z"
    You will need:
    an internet provider which supports <specs>
    For example, I am looking at the Gen 6 Airport extreme.  For intended performance do I need broadband? if so what are the specs, or will basic internet service suffice?  Do I need the internet provider's modem or does the Airport extreme replace that?  And then I think, if I am doing this, I should also look at Apple TV....What do I need and Why?  Then I look at the New Desk top coming out in the fall, and I think well, if I wait and get this, what does this component do for the system, and what becomes redundant? What does this awesome desktop do for my ability to sit and use a new macbook air when I travel  or sit on the couch in my PJs?
    If there was a place that plainly stated "if you buy the new dektop you can configure a system including only these components and achieve <this result> and by adding <additional components> you will achieve this result.
    I have been to the genius store a few times, but I come out of there more confused unless I have SPECIFIC questions or already know what to buy.
    A "System Configuration App" would be a really great sales tool--Just saying.

    I have no idea what "fully optimized" means.
    No Apple device will let you watch broadcast TV. The Apple TV is a good option for watching streaming TV from iTunes, NetFlix and Hulu. If you want to watch from other sources, you may need to look at other devices.
    Any Mac computer or iPad will allow you to surf the web.
    What business software?
    Time Capsule is a good option for back ups.
    Update what across all devices?
    For accessing documents from all devices, a service like Dropbox is your best bet.
    I have no idea what "step as far away from an internet provider as possible" means. If you want Internet access, you need an Internet provider.
    Lighting fast speed for what? Processor? The specs are listed for all devices in the Online Store. Internet? We're back to the service provider.
    Technology changes. The only way to keep pace with it beyond a couple of years is to buy new stuff.
    The bottom line is you need to look at the specs for devices availble and at your budget and decide what best meets your needs. If you are unable to do that on your own, there are lot of technology consultants out there who will, for a fee, look at your exact situation, make recommendations and even handle the purchase and set up. Perhaps that would be the best route for you.
    Best of luck.

  • Import finished with few errors...Help understanding it!

    Hi all,
    Yesterday, I finished to do an import in oracle. I used the impdp command and got few errors after the import was done. Here are some bits from my log. It was very long but I shortened it with the most common errors. I would appreciate your help understanding what does each error mean, and whether there's a solution available.
    Thanks!

    El trabajo "SYS"."SYS_IMPORT_FULL_01" ha terminado con 2249 error(es) en 17:21:02

    Hello people,
    I just run for the second time a full import, and it said it finished correctly.
    The first time I run it, there was a message which said that the import had finished with 2249 errors (I checked my log and not all of them were errors but messages). I checked each single message and only had to solve a couple of things.
    I first created a user in response to an ora-29393: user string does not exist or is not logged on.
    The second thing I did was to run the utlrp.sql file in response to an ORA-39082. I did this according to this blog.
    I know oracle is taking precedence each time I run an import. I don’t know if what I have done is okay or perhaps not all data was imported after all. This is the thread which I posted initially when errors came out.
    Any reply is a supply.
    Thanks loads

  • Help understand how this works

    Hows everyone doing, i need some help understand this. This is my first time using Lulu. From the reviews i'v read about it they tell me this is the #1 place to come to to get my books printed. Here the question,  i have all 3 of my books ready to be uploaded do i just sent that in, then they send me the prints ? or so they self them for me. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but its my first time using this particular site.

    Here's a quick overview:
    You start the new book wizard. Click "Create," pick a book type and size (hardcover, paperback, etc.; 6x9, 8.5 x 11, etc.), and click "Make this book."
    Hint: If you want the widest distribution for your book, pick a size / type that has a green checkmark next to it.
    The wizard will guide you to name your book, apply an ISBN (or get a free one), upload your contents, and upload your cover or design a cover. It will guide you to set pricing and distribution, and many other options.
    When you've done all that, your book will be available to order. You will see two prices: the one you pay, and the one other people pay. The one you pay is the printing cost per book. It may be anywhere from $2.50 to $20.00 or more, depending on options you pick -- probably coser to the low end.
    On that first page, where it says "Create," there is a calculator that will figure roughly what your book will cost (printing costs), so you can plan your options around that calculator.
    So you order as many books as you want, pick shipping, pay with a credit card, and in a few days, the books are on your doorstep.
    I hope that helps.

  • Help understanding simple query trace with 35,000 "query subcube" events

    No matter WHAT query I issue against my cube, I'm finding thousands of query subcube events against an unexpected , I assume it's a partition.
    Even for the simplest possible query SELECT FROM <CUBE>, which for this cube would return the measure [MRN Distinct Count], a trace reveals 35,000 query subcube events against a partition (?) called "<server>.Medical Home.MedHome.Lab Orders
    With Results" which is NOT the partition that holds that [MRN Distinct Count] measure.
    I can't figure out why this object is being queried so many times for queries completely unrelated to it.  I believe this performance degradation is somewhat new...so I have been trying to think of what may have been added to the cube recently.
    I recently added KPIs and calculated sets & members that DO draw from that Lab Orders With Results object...would calculated members or KPI's cause this kind of problem? I thought that they were all pre-calculated @ processing?

    RedBirdRising - my cube had several dynamic calculated sets in it.  As I recall several of those sets included slices on that one particular dimension that was being queried so many times. For me it was sets that compiled populations of people
    with particular lab result values, so that lab result partition was queried thousands of times for ANY query, even simple ones like SELECT FROM [CUBE].
    To be precise, I actually had calculated sets interacting with calculated measures - for example, one of the offending calculated sets was really this series of calculations:
    -CALC SET 1: define calculated set of diabetic patients
    -CALC MEASURE 1: define calculated measure for most recent lab test result of a particular lab test - which included a slice on the dimension I found being queried thousands of times.
    -DYNAMIC calculated set: FILTER(CALC SET1, CALC MEASURE 1 <= x)
    So as soon as I switched that dynamic set to a STATIC set my queries began executing in a reasonable amount of time and those query subcube events were no longer issued in the thousands.  I feel like i've heard that FILTER performs poorly but didn't
    know of any alternatives to achieve what we needed.
    hope this helps...I can't say I know for sure what unforseen impact(s) switching to static sets has had yet.  Dynamic seemed like the way to go but the performance hit was just too drastic.

    In Oracle, and is a higher precedence operator than or, so without parens, your first query is equivalent to:
    SELECT TECHNICAL_SERVICE, LOGICAL_NAME, COUNT("NUMBER"),
           ROUND(AVG(CLOSE_TIME-OPEN_TIME),2) as time
    from SMINCREQ
    where TECHNICAL_SERVICE = 'CLIENT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION' or
          (TECHNICAL_SERVICE='REIMAGE' and
           open_time > '7/1/2011')
    GROUP BY (TECHNICAL_SERVICE,LOGICAL_NAME)
    ORDER BY TIME DESCThat is, find rows where technical_service is CLIENT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION regardless of open_time or
    technical_service is REIMAGE and open_time is after 7/1/2011.
    Your second query is asking for rows where technical_service is either CLIENT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION or REIMAGE and open_time is after 7/1/2011.
    Your third query is looking technical_service CLIENT SOFTWARE INSTALLATION and logical_name BLANK (blank) and open_time after 7/1/2011. It sould be written without parens at all.
    You fourth query is the same as your second with an extra (redundant) set of parens.
    Another issue that may be causing you problems is the use of a string in the comparision to open_time. If that column is defined as a date in the table, then you should really be using to_date('7/1/2011', 'dd-mm-yyyy') for the literal to avoid implicit data type conversions. If it is actually a varchar2, then you are in for a lot of trouble, unless it is very consistenly formatted.

  • Help with query rewrite and materialized views

    Hello everybody,
    I'm currently learning how to use Oracle (10G Enterprise) and in particular, Materialized Views.
    I seem to have a problem making the optimizer use a materialized view. I have already set the OPTIMIZER_MODE, QUERY_REWRITE_ENABLED and QUERY_REWRITE_INTEGRITY as needed.
    I need to create a materialized view for the following query:
    Q1:
    SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER E, PART WHERE PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY and (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'')
    and PS_SUPPCOST =
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY)'
    I created it using the following code:
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW mv_q1
    ENABLE QUERY REWRITE
    AS SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER E JOIN PART ON (PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY)
    WHERE lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE '_o_a%' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE '_o_u%'
    and PS_SUPPCOST=
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY);
    I have created the statistics using:
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres',' mv_q1');
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres','PARTSUPPLIER');
    execute dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('frandres','PART');
    Both partsupplier and part are tables and not views.
    When executing Q1, the plan does not use the materialized view. Furthermore, when using explain rewrite:
    DECLARE
    qrytxt VARCHAR2(3000) := 'SELECT PS_SUPPKEY, PS_PARTKEY, PS_SUPPCOST
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER E, PART WHERE PS_PARTKEY=P_PARTKEY and (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'')
    and PS_SUPPCOST =
    (SELECT min( PS_SUPPCOST)
    FROM PARTSUPPLIER I
    WHERE E.PS_PARTKEY=I.PS_PARTKEY)';
    BEGIN
    dbms_mview.EXPLAIN_REWRITE
    (qrytxt,'MV_Q1','MV_Q1');
    END;
    I get the following message:
    MESSAGE
    QSM-01150: query did not rewrite
    QSM-01263: query rewrite not possible when query references a dictionary table o
    r view
    QSM-01219: no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
    What I can't understand is why it says I am referencing the dictionary or a view?
    If I remove the (lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_a\%'' or lower(P_COMMENT) LIKE ''_o_u\%'') condition to the query (using the same materialized view), I get the following message from EXPLAIN_REWRITE:
    MESSAGE
    QSM-01150: query did not rewrite
    QSM-01219: no suitable materialized view found to rewrite this query
    Which is reasonable.
    I don't know if the like condition is messing up my materialized view. Can anyone please help?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Bingo!
    The 10.2.0.3 patch set is supposed to fix this ( [List of bugs fixed (MVs)|http://www.dbatools.net/doc/bug10203.html#MVIEW] )
    In particular:
    5052568      Query rewrite does not work for SQL with LIKE clause.
    Thank you very much for your message!
    The downside is that I'm only using Oracle for educational purposes and consequently have no Metalink id, so I can't install the patch. Thanks a lot though!

INDEX UNIQUE SCAN CAT_TYPE_CODE_UK 3/3 [+]   [+]   The NESTED LOOPS operation (ID #11) has two children, ID #12 sometimes called the driving source, and ID #14 the inner loop. ID #14 is executed once for each row returned by ID #12. The results of ID #11 are then fed to ID #10 which performs an INDEX RANGE SCAN.

  • Help SQL Query (Not working as it should)

    Hello everybody,
    I'm using JDeveloper 12.1.2.0.0 . I'm doing a bidirectional comunication using 3 tables, with bindings between them (and using HR schema).
    In my example, i have something like:
    Departments, Employees and SalaryByJobs (i created this table where it shows the departmentd id, employee id, job, salary).
    Whenever i click on one OR more departments, the employees table update by putting on the table, the employees that belong to the selected department and the salaryByjob put the jobs by employees selected on the employees table.
    So it's something like this:
    Departments selected -> employees selected -> salarybyjbobs of those employees.
    My Employees query (in the view) has the following code:
    SELECT Employees.COMMISSION_PCT,
           Employees.DEPARTMENT_ID,
           Employees.EMAIL,
           Employees.EMPLOYEE_ID,
           Employees.FIRST_NAME,
           Employees.HIRE_DATE,
           Employees.JOB_ID,
           Employees.LAST_NAME,
           Employees.MANAGER_ID,
           Employees.PHONE_NUMBER,
           Employees.SALARY
    FROM  EMPLOYEES Employees
    WHERE ( DEPARTMENT_ID IN (select * from THE(select cast( in_list(:variavel3) as mytableType ) from dual ) a))
    Since i use bindings, the employees table don't show anything in the beginning, so i added this parte to my employees query: OR nvl(:variavel3,0) = 0
    But now, whenever i try to select more than one row, it gives me invalid numbers and i don't understand why..
    It's only more one line of code and it's not in the bean.
    Can anyone help me?
    Ps - The bean goes department by department, appends the departments with "," and for each department, gets the employees that belongs to them.
    My best regards,
    Frederico Barracha.

    The expression NVL(:variavel3,0)=0 is not correct. The datatype of the return value of the NVL function is considered equal to the datatype of the 1st argument (i.e to the datatype of the bind variable :variavel3). You said that this variable contained a comma-separated list of IDs, so the variable's datatype is VARCHAR2. As far as you are comparing the NVL-expression to a number, you get "Invalid number" exception, because Oracle is expecting a numeric datatype at the left side of the comparison operator.
    In order to avoid the "Invalid number" exception you can modify the expression using one of the following options:
    :variavel3 IS NULL
    NVL( :variavel3, '*' ) = '*'
    NVL( :variavel3, '0' ) = '0'
    The 1st option if the simplest and the most clear one.
