Help using test in alround automations PL/SQL Developer

hi sory if this is a bit of a beginer question, Im trying to test the folowing package using the test window in pl/sql developer.
I was expecting to give the test a value for var_detail_id which it askes for so is good :) , and the test to return the value of v_Media_Object_Name. which it dosent.
and i dont know enough to know if there is a fault in the code or a fault in the way i am using the test utility. ive put the select on to a sql worksheet, and it returns a sensable name for the detail_id i give it.
any thoughts on why the test utility dosent return the value of v_Media_Object_Name?
thanks

Your run_report procedure returns nothing to the caller. You must either have an out parameter return the value selected or make it a function that returns the value expected by the caller.
As it is, there is nothing that is returned. So, no client, including PL/SQL Developer, will be able to display any results.

  • Using REF with object table in SQL Developer

    When i create object tables and fill them with data, then in SQL Developer de REF value isn't displayed.
    I did the following:
    CREATE TYPE adres_type AS OBJECT
    (straat VARCHAR2(20)
    ,nummer VARCHAR2(10)
    ,postcode VARCHAR2(6)
    ,plaats VARCHAR2(50));
    CREATE TABLE adressen of adres_type;

    (nr NUMBER
    ,naam VARCHAR2(20)
    ,adres REF adres_type);
    CREATE TABLE locaties OF locatie_type;
    CREATE TABLE locaties OF locatie_type

    insert into locaties values (1,'Directie', (select ref (a) from adressen a where a.plaats = 'Velp'))
    Then in SQL Developer de REF(A) column is empty, while in SQL*Plus it displays the REF value:
    In SQL Developer: SELECT a.*, REF(a) FROM adressen a;
    STRAAT NUMMER POSTCODE PLAATS REF(A)
    Arnhemsestraatweg 33 6881ND Velp

    Is this a bug or is there another reason why the ID doesnt display in SQL Developer.

  • Help with Test Server & Binding Recordset ASP-SQL

    Using CS 3.3/DW. Behavior is the same on two different
    machines. One is Vista Home Premium SP1 IIS 7 with 6 compatability,
    other is XP SP 3 IIS 5.1, both have IE 7 and full SQL 2005 with
    SP's.
    Haven't gotten very far away from static page yet, because I
    can't test. Have scoured forums and even talked to Adobe who
    recreated the problem then told me that they hadn't done sufficient
    testing to SQL 2005 prior to release, were supposed to call me
    back, did once, supposed to call back again and haven't (3 days).
    So I'm turning to the community for help, please.
    Set up test server in folder 'TServer' under
    C:\inetpub\wwwroot. Built a 'Hello World' ASP/VB Script page with
    no data attached, tests fine, puts in the appropriate folder and
    says "Hello World" in browser like a good little box should! Have
    built many DSN's, they tested during the building fine, I've tried
    various versions of ODBC and OLE DB, including but not limited to
    Native SQL Client, which is my preference and have been quite
    successful setting up the DSN's...they add to the ASP page/Site
    (it's greyed out unless you have an open ASP page) fine. Test at
    that point works fine. As soon as I bind a Recordset (whether I
    have dropped data on the page or not...same 'Hello World' page with
    Recordset info near the top of the code) and test, I error out.
    Any thoughts? I'm sure you'll need more info...I've tried to
    put as much as I can for starters. Thanks in advance.

  • Mining Models used in SQL Developer 3.0 and models created PL/SQL scripts

    Hi,
    Pardon my ignorance if some of my questions are very basic. I am just gaining understanding about building/using mining models.
    I installed sql developer and went thru some OBE exercises to build models ( classification models)
    While building workflows the exercise required to supply data for the pre built models ( the four models pre-created). The question is - is this exercise is about building models or using models ?
    How those pre-built models were created? Are these models are restricted in their usage. or are they generic models that they can be applied for solving similar problems?
    What type of models can be used in workflows?
    I am also seeing some smaples of pl/sql scripts used in creating some models. Is it correect to assume they are created using PL/SQL APIs ( DBMS_DATA_MINING, DBMS_DATA_MINING_TRANSFORM etc).
    What is the differrence between these two model building process ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The OBE exercises show you both how to build models and then to apply (Score) new data using the built models.
    A model is always built using some form of input data, so it is built specifically with that form of data in mind.
    It is not a generic model at all.
    When you apply a model you provide data in the same format as the original data.
    In the case of a Classification or Regression model, you are applying the model to generate a prediction on new data that conforms with the build data provided to the model.
    The online help provides details on all the models that are available.
    Data Miner uses the data mining pl/sql packages (package name DBMS_DATA_MINING) to create and test models.
    There are also sql data mining prediction functions as well.
    Thanks, Mark

  • Oracle SQL Developer issue when using VPN (Cisco)

    All,
    We've got a somewhat obscure issue with SQL Developer connectivity to our databases from a remote employee's laptop.
    The database is hosted inside our firewall and when the employee tries to connect to the database he receives the following error:
    +"Error Encountered: An error was encountered performing the requested operation: The network adaptor could not establish the connection. Vendor Code 20"+
    I believe I may have seen the following error at one point as well...
    Status : Failure -Test failed: IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
    Note: He gets this error when logged into our VPN & while he can connect via SQL*Plus to that same database. He gets the error regardless if he uses the tnsnames entry option in SQL Developer or if he is using the "Basic" connection type.
    What's interesting is that if he disconnects from the VPN, turns off his wireless connectivity and then hard-wires into our network he can connect, no issue.
    The strangest part for me is that while he can not connect to the database via SQL Developer, he can connect via SQL*Plus. He can ping the source IP address fine, he can tnsping the database no problem, he can connect via SQL*Plus, he just can't connect via SQL*Developer. Since SQL*Plus and tnsping are working, I know he can access the db server via port 1521, so I don't think it's a port issue.
    Another strange thing: When he connects to our network via an "old" VPN (open VPN) he has no issues.
    His machine is Windoz 64 bit (HP laptop) and he's using the latest version of SQL Developer and a newer JVM.
    Also interesting: I also have a Windoz 64 bit laptop (Lenovo) and I do not have the same issues as he does. I however am running an older version of SQL Developer and probably an older JVM.
    I dug around a bit, seems like perhaps this has something to do with IPv6? No idea what to do next except have my network guy look at firewall logs to try to capture where the connectivity is being dropped.
    Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. I've tried all kinds of things (giving him my tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora file, manually editing those files, tried IP addresses instead of host names, tried host names with the .doman.org extensions, etc.).
    Again, any suggestions would be appreciated and thank you very much.

    Since SQLPlus is installed and works fine you could try to set
    Tools -> Preferences -> Database -> Advanced -> Use OCI/Thick driverThis should enable SQLDeveloper to use the same oracle client SQLPlus is using to connect to the database.
    Mind that by setting this option you need to have an 11g client (or instant client) installed that matches the ojdbc6.jar version used by SQLDeveloper, so if you are using an older client this may not be a usable solution.

  • Sql developer closes when testing connection

    I have windows 7 64 bit, but, also have ms office 32 bit, so, do need the 32 bit drivers.
    If my path starts with the location of the 32 bit drivers and I test my oracle connection in sql developer with the oci thick driver checked, I get the error stating can't use the 32 bit drivers with a 64 bit machine (Status : Failure -Test failed: C:\app\32BitDrivers\product\11.2.0\client_3\ocijdbc11.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform).
    If the thick driver is unchecked, I get:
    Status : Failure -Test failed: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
    I believe this is due to this database being set up to use something like a name validation server(?), because I can connect to another database that does not have that special authentication.
    If I have the path set to the 64 bit driver, sql developer will close when I try to test the connection with either the oci thick driver checked or un-checked (and testing either of the 2 databases).
    any ideas?

    sqlplus does connect to both databases
    Happen to have toad and was finally able to get it to connect to both databases.
    oh, btw, is the 32 bit driver sqora32.dll?
    what would the 64 bit driver be named?

    So, checking what java is running:
    C:\>java -version
    java version "1.7.0_21"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_21-b11)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.21-b01, mixed mode)
    However, I have C:\oracle\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper\bin\sqldeveloper.conf showing
    SetJavaHome C:\oracle\sqldeveloper\jdk1.6.0_45
    Also, I thought that the loading 32 bit on 64 bit system message meant that sql developer was 64 bit. Does it matter is sql dev is 64 or 32 bit and how do I tell which it is?
    Also, there is a log file that shows up in the sql dev bin folder that matches the time when the program closes, like hs_err_pid12380.log. It's showing:
    # A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
    # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x000000006d9fd904, pid=13208, tid=8988
    # JRE version: 6.0_45-b06
    # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (20.45-b01 mixed mode windows-amd64 compressed oops)
    # Problematic frame:
    # V [jvm.dll+0x11d904]
    So, appears that it is using the version specified in the .conf file. However, not seeing useful info in the log file, probably cause there's so much there.
    thanks
    When I try to get it to use the 64 bit driver, sql developer just closes. So, not sure if I'm actually pointing to the right location or what.

  • Can I use Oracle SQL Developer to "Move" data?

    Hello,
    I'm new to Oracle and I'm trying to use Oracle SQL Developer to export data from one table (on server A) to another table (on sever B). I'm able to create a .ldr file but I don't know how to use the .ldr file in Oracle SQL Developer? I would appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The name of tables are different ?
    If I understood then try this below:
    e.g:
    C:\> exp user/password@connectionA file=maytable.dmp tables=SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43
    C:\> imp user/password@connectionB file=mytable.dmp full=y
    After this import, then you can:
    [pre]
    C:\>sqlplus user/password@connectionB
    SQL> insert into SAFETYUSER_TBL_0022_44
         select * from SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;
    SQL> drop table SAFETYADMIN_TBL_0022_43;Feedback if this is not that you want.
    Cheers

  • Migration MSSQL to Oracle 9i using SQL Developer

    I am trying to completely move our application from Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Database to Oracle 9i. I am doing it using the latest version of Oracle SQL Developer (1.5)
    When I right click my MSSQL server db and click "Capture Microsoft SQL server", it just shows a dialog with "Close" enabled.
    The migration Log has the following messages:

    continuously..
    I have also tried this by creating SQLDevloper.cmd file in root directory but the problem is same ?
    Please help me to remove this error ?
    Thanks in advance
    Moris

    Hi Moris,
    Im would have been certain that the SQLDeveloper.cmd trick would resolve this issues.
    http://dermotoneill.blogspot.com/2008/05/protocol-violation-capturing-issues.html
    Have you run the SQLDeveloper.cmd file ? This will run SQL Developer for you.
    Does the SQLDeveloper.cmd file contain the following 2 lines?
    SET ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
    start sqldeveloper.exe
    Is the SQLDeveloper.cmd file at the root directory. Mine looks like this
    E:\SQLDeveloper_Releases\sqldev15\sqldeveloper\sqldeveloper.cmd
    Its the same directory as the sqdeveloper.exe.
    I hope this solves your issue.
    You may want to update to SQL Developer 1.5.1 as it resolves this issue, with no need for a SQLDeveloper.cmd file and has a good few fixes for the migration tools.

    Dermot

  • Error in Migration Repository using Sql*Developer Migration Workbench

    To migrate a MS access mdb database to Oracle using Sql*Developer Migration Workbench, I try to create first the the Migration Repository in SQL*Developer.
    The repository is created, but under PACKAGES I could see that package MD_META has been compiled with errors.
    PACKAGE BODY AO_PERSONAL.MD_META@DMCAPX (AO_PERSONAL):
    Error(27,2): PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    Error(30,23): PL/SQL: ORA-00904: : ungültiger Bezeichner
    Well, when I ignore this and continue with the next step of the migration process "Capture Microsoft Access Exported XML file" to create the Captured Model, I get the following error message:
    ORA-04063: package body "AO_PERSONAL.MD_META" enthält Fehler ORA-06508: PL/SQL: aufgerufene Programmeinheit : "AO_PERSONAL.MD_META" konnte nicht gefunden werden ORA-06512: in "AO_PERSONAL.MD_PROJECTS_TRG", Zeile 3 ORA-04088: Fehler bei der Ausführung von Trigger 'AO_PERSONAL.MD_PROJECTS_TRG'
    Target database RDBMS is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0. So the proposal of note 427916.1 to create the Repository in a 10.2 RDBMS does not solve the problem.
    I even tried to use the Quick Migrate feature in SQL*Developer, but got the same error message.

    "inserted value too large for column"
    Is there a LOGON trigger on the database or user ?
    I'd be surprised at SQL Developer trying to insert data into anything on connect.
    I'd suspect code being executed by the database, maybe using a MODULE or PROGRAM from v$session or USERENV / SYS_CONTEXT.

  • BUG in Oracle SQL Developer 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" with comments?

    I'm newbie on oracle, but I think that I found out a bug in Oracle SQL Developer version 3.0.04 on the "generating DLL" tool using "comments".
    I will describe the steps that I gave:
    I created a view, but after I test it I had to change my “where” condition, so I comment the old code and then I wrote the new “where” condition below. After I done that I tried to look at the sql code of my view using “generating DLL” tool, but oracle sql developer only shown me half of the code, a lot of code were missing. Then I began with some test trying to understand what happen and I notice that if I put an invalid sql code in my comment the generating DLL start working with no problems, for example(pseudo-code):
    (COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" don't work:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where time_stamp = (select max(time_stamp) from .....)
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
    Generating DLL returns this(when the error occurs):
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    (COMMENT WITH VALID SQL CODE the "Generating SQL" work with no problems:)
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW <user>.<view_name> ( <column1>,<column2> )
    AS
    SELECT column1, column2
    FROM table1
    INNER JOIN
    (SELECT
    FROM table2
    INNER JOIN .....
    INNER JOIN ....
    --where
    WHERE time_stamp >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ) t1 ON t1.ID = ....
    AND ..... >= TRUNC(sysdate)
    ORDER BY ....
    I believe that "Generating DLL" tool have some problem with the comments, I also used /*...*/ to comment but the problem is still active.
    I notice as well that if I started to add some more comments along the code, the conditions migth change, so I think the problem is related with "comments" code.
    Would you mind telling me if this is a real bug or if I'm doing anything wrong.
    Thank you in advance,
    Rodrigo Campos
    Edited by: 894886 on 3/Nov/2011 5:29

    Hi Rodrigo,
    Thank you for reporting this. The only bug I see currently logged on a comment affecting the generated View DDL involves ending the last line of the definition with a comment, which treats the ending semi-colon (even if on a different line) as part of the comment. That is actually related to a low-priority bug against an Oracle database API.
    Unfortunately, your pseudo-code is a bit complex. Trying a few quick, simpler tests against the standard HR schema did not reproduce the issue. I tried INNER JOIN, and nested SELECTs. It would help greatly if you could provide a test case compilable against one of the standard schema, like HR or SCOTT.

  • Create trigger not audited when run from sql developer Version 3.2.20.09

    Creating or editing a trigger is not being stored in the audit table when run from sql developer.

    create table testuser.testtab(t1 number);

    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER testuser.testtab_bi_trg BEFORE

    begin
      null;
    end;
    Select Count(*) From Dba_Audit_Trail  Where Owner='TESTUSER';
    drop user testuser cascade;
    If I run the script from sql developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does not get audited.
    If I run the script from sql plus or All Arround Automations PL/SQL Developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does get audited.
    If I edit the trigger from sql developer the CREATE TRIGGER statement does not get audited.

    https://forums.oracle.com/community/developer/english/oracle_database/general_questions
    Yes - and it works just fine once you ENABLE AUDITING. Your scripIt  does NOT include the statements or code used to ENABLE auditing and, specifically, enable auditing for triggers.
    Auditing doesn't just 'happen'; you have to enable it and you have to specify any non-default auditing that you want to perform.
    Have you read any of the extensive documentation about auditing to learn how to use it?
    See the Database Security Guide
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e16543/auditing.htm
    Also see 'Auditing Functions, Procedures, Packages, and Triggers
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/network.112/e16543/auditing.htm#BCGBEAGC
    And see the AUDIT statement in the SQL language doc for how to specify auditing of specific operations.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e26088/statements_4007.htm

  • SQL Developer Hangs when connecting for Remote Debug

    Hello,
    I've been trying to use the Remote Debug feature of SQL Developer. We are writing a Web Application that connects to Oracle and I would like to debug a package function on the database server (which is not the same machine as my SQL Developer client).
    To test my configuration, I tried connecting on SQLPlus creating a connection (by calling exec dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', 'xxxxx'); ) and calling a function which had a breakpoint and the debugging started immediately on SQL Developer. Then I tried putting the dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', 'xxxxx'); call inside the stored procedure I was debugging (prior to the line with the breakpoint) and it connected and got to the breakpoint successfully as well. So I'm pretty sure my firewall / user privileges are set up correctly.
    So I modified the function that my web application eventually calls to create the connection (in order to remain in the same session) but whenever it gets to the connect_tcp line SQL Developer hangs and I'm unable to debug. I've realized that it only hangs if I have a breakpoint there. If I don't have a breakpoint then it creates a connection just fine. Of course without a breakpoint it's a bit difficult to debug isn't it? :)
    My Sql Developer version is 3.0 and I'm connecting to Oracle 11.1.0 Below you can find a dump when running SqlDeveloper with console. My OS is windows XP and my Oracle instance is running on Linux.
    I appreciate any help you can provide.

    What I mean is that I put the connect_tcp command inside the package function I want to debug in order to ensure it's going to remain in the same session. e.g.:
    Function GetValue Return Varchar2 Is
    Begin
    dbms_debug_jdwp.connect_tcp('xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx', '25255');
    return 'My Value';
    End;
    I'm afraid I cannot post our code which causes this problem due to our information security policies and simple console and web applications failed to replicate the problem. The function creates a connection to Oracle SQL Developer (which can be seen in the environment with the small ladybug icon) if no breakpoints are set which obviously doesn't allow breaking into the function. However if a breakpoint is also specified in the Return line the connection seems to freeze Oracle SQL Developer. No ladybug icon is shown and no Remote Debug Session seems to open.

  • Thank You SQL Developer Team

    I would like to take a minute to say "Thank You" to everyone who are working on SQL Developer. I use SQL Developer regularly to quickly view database objects and table data.
    Since the release of APEX 3.0.1 and SQLDeveloper 1.2, I have been using SQL Developer to move my APEX applications between Development, Test, QA, and Production instances - works like a champ! I have the development pages and administrative pages disabled in Test, QA and Prod, so SQL Developer (in my opinion) has helped plug a security risk in my APEX applications.
    I know developers - and project managers - don't get to hear much praise for what they do. Seems like it is too easy for users to point out flaws in applications. But, if users find flaws in applications, they must be using it...
    Thanks again for everything you do.
    Dan

    So did I (for about 50K).
    At the end I managed to export in Text format, then opened that with Excel.
    Hope that works for you,
