Help!  Where Did My Printing Options Go With My Epson R800?

For some reason, I've lost the Format Settings from my Epson R800 printer (USB) when I open Page Setup. Typically you should get options for "Manual", "Roll Paper-Borderless Banner" and several others in Page Setup. This all started when I did a "Reset Printing System" in Printer Setup Utility. This deleted all the options from my Library>Printers folder. I have copied the folder contents back from a backup with no success. I've also trashed the contents of the Epson folder in the root Library>Printers>Epson folder and the EpsonPrinterDriver.pkg in the Receipts folder, and reinstalled the Epson Printer Software from my Tiger Installation Disk. Repaired permissions, ran a repair on both Disk Utility and DiskWarrior. The right contents appear to be in the appropriate folders, but when I used Printer Setup the only driver that comes up is the generic "Epson SP R800." Clicking More Printers just says that it is unable to turn Apple Talk on - I'm not using it. This has to be a software problem, because I everything works as it should when I start up using an older backup disk. This is driving me nuts! My primary use for the printer is with roll paper, and now I can't access that feature. Does anyone have a fix or suggestion for this problem? Thanks.

Greg, I'm an idiot! Turns out the Print Browser had somehow reset itself to Apple Talk. Clicking More Printers was then giving me the can't turn on Apple Talk message. When I clicked on Print Browser popup there was the Epson USB just as you said it should be. Selecting this put me in business. So simple, and I feel so stupid. Sorry for the bother. Anyway, thanks for the help - much appreciated.

All text prints too small. Settings for font size haven't changed and the emails print out much smaller than the view settings.
I don't see the options for "Rewrap message to fit" or "Keep fonts the same size".
    Suggestions?

I have the same problem. Text and the info with the "To" header all prints very small. I also cannot find the controls described. Just updated to Mavericks, never had problem before this. Same printer, and problem also occurs on another different model printer I tried for a test.

  • Where did the .jpeg option go when saving?

I used to be able to save a .cr2 file that I had edited in the .jpeg format.  For some reason that is no longer offered as an option in the drop down menu  when I use 'save as'.  Where did the .jpeg option go?

It's not there because the CR2 image is using 16-bit color.
    Either:
Change the bit depth in Camera RAW to 8-bit before opening it in the Editor.
In the Editor, use Image...Mode...8 bits/channel.

  • Where did my view, options go on 4.0

i downloaded 4.0 and can not find the tools that were located at the top left of home page like view, history, options and bookmarks where did they go. or can i just get my 3.6 back

By default on Vista the menu bar has been hidden and replaced with the orange Firefox button. You can temporarily display the menus by pressing either Alt or F10. If you permanently want to display the menu bar, after pressing Alt or F10, in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry to select it.

  • Where are the print options, after selecting print it says to select a theme from print options, but no print options appear

On macbook pro - I cannot print from the iphot library as it says I need to select a theme from print options, but the print options will not appear after selecting print

    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • Problem printing in illustrator with my epson r1900

Hi, all. I recently bought an epson r1900. Tried to print out some images and types with my r1900 in either illustrator or photoshop.  The images printed allright, but all my types is getting some "pixelated edges" when its not a stright line...the edges are not smooth at all...no matter when the type is 12pt or 72pt... But on the other hand, when i convert the document to a jpeg and print with "Preview" the problem sloved... it does have a solid edges type... why is that?? i did have lots of experence with my pervious epson 1280,2200,and 2400 but i never got this problem before....can you guys help me with it??
    thanks
    wing

Wingyluk, were you ever able to find a way around this problem? Any driver download or RIP app that works with this printer? I have the same problem. However, I had the same problem a few years back with my older CS3 and older mac and somehow it ended up working (can'y for the life of me remember). Now that I have upgraded I am faced with the problem again.

  • Can't print web sites with the epson printer just installed. It wants to print with the old HP printer

I just installed a new printer, an Epson Stylus NX 420. The old printer is A HP photosmart 4580. I can not print with the new printer. If I want to print an e-mail it keep referring to the old printer.Same thing with an article of the web. I am able to print when I use the internet explorer browser. Please tell me what to do to make this work. Thanks

Tech guy is probably correct. We don't usually see reports about trouble with Epson printers, but ID is not the best behaved application when it comes to printing. The usual workaround is to export to PDF and print that instead.

  • Archive & Install, Where did my printer settings go?

I just upgraded to Leopard from Jaguar on my PowerPC G4, by way of Archive & Installing. On top of my printer settings being reset to defaults, my RIP software (FastRip Pro) doesn't work with Leopard yet. Did I lose all of my previous RIP/printer settings? If not, where would they be in the previous systems folder?
I'm thinking about going back to Jaguar until the new RIP software is released..
If I do downgrade, will I lose my previous system folder?
    Any advice appreciated...
    Thanks

    Glad to help.
I suspect your settings are in the folder named "Previous System" but Leopard simply did not migrate it. That's why I think a clone would be perfect. Unfortunately you did not clone Panther, so your only hope os that the settings are in that folder I mentioned.
Download a copy of CarbonCopy Cloner - it's free:
    http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
Then get an external Firewire drive like a LaCie. I have their 500GB quadro. Then using DU on Leopard, partition it so that your MBP files will fit in the smaller partition when you clone it.
The other partition is perfect for TimeMachine - that's the way I use it.
Now, using CarbonCopy, you clone your Leopard onto the smaller partition on the external drive. Takes anywhere from 1/2 hour to an hour. The LaCie has FW800 on it which makes things fly.
After you have cloned your MBP, restart it holding down the Option button and the external clone should show up as a bootable system. Select it and boot into it just to be sure.
Once you have your Leopard preserved, then you can erase your internal drive using the disk utility on the Leopard DVD (boot into the DVD by holding down the "C" key when starting up.
Erase your internal drive including the free space and then shutdown. Startup with your original Panther CD and install it. You should be asked to migrate, but I don't know if Panther will see the Leopard archive. No problem yet.
After you get Panther running again, use Finder to look into the archived folder on the Leopard clone and see if you can find your old stuff.
Seriously, by the time you do all this, it might be that your new software will be available. But still, it's a great learning experience and as long as you have that clone, you have not lost anything except what was not installed when you installed Leopard.

OK. I Have no idea where my COPY option went when i right click. Nor where to find it! And since i don't know where it is or how to get it back, i have no way of copy and pasting things withing web pages and programs when i want to quote somebody with out the hassle of typing it down my self on word pad. Sometimes ( and i don't know why) it does come up.....but i don't know what i do for it to come back it just randomly does it. ONE thing i did notice is that when the copy option comes up again its mostly when i have a lot of words highlighted. Any help would be amazing and appreciated! Thank yoU!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • HP 8750, where did my printer ink settings go?

When I used to print in photoshop I had the option to specify paper type (satin, gloss, etc), installed ink cartridges, etc. Now I have no such options. I can print but I don't think I am getting the full color gaumet of my choice of installed carts. I tried to re-install with the HP drivers but the install hangs. I also tried to delete and add back the printer in Leopard but still I have no such settings. Has anyone been able to work through this?

  • Help -- where did Express Setup Assistant go?

hello, i am a new user to Airport Express. I had all my setting on an "old" computer -- Airport worked great. Just got a new laptop (using Windows Vista) and was trying to put all the admin utitities on my new computer. i have seemed to misplace the install disk that came with the Airport. on my old computer, i used the "airport setup assistant" often, and found it much easier then the airport admin utility. when i went on line, i found Airport Support, 4.2 for windows on the apple website. Downloaded and installed -- but it did not include the setup assistant program. Is there any help out there to know where i might be able to find the assistant and download it? i cant find it anywhere on the Apple website. Thanks for your help...this fourm is awesome...
    Matt

I didn't upgrade to Vista, but did need to re-download the same app. Took a bit to find. I also like the Express Assistant Utility. Download the Airport 4.1 for windows (Nov 2004) and execute. The Express Assistant is part of the package.

  • New to Mac - Need help - Want to share Printer and Internet with PC

Looking for help in setting up to share my Windows Compaq PC printer and files and internet with my MAC Mini. They sit right next to each other, my PC does not have wireless ability. What equipment and what steps do I need to take to make this happen? I am looking for the cheapest way possible.
    Thanks

To share the internet you are going to need the means the connect both the Mac and PC to your internet connection. A router would be the simplest - connect your broadband modem to the router and the computers to the router. Routers are quite inexpensive these days and it is also needed to share a printer with both computers.
This leads us to the printer. Before you think about sharing the printer with the Mac you'll first need to determine the printer has drivers for OS X. If not, there's no easy way to seamlessly print from the Mac to your printer. Note I say seamless. Since all Mac applications can print a PDF file you can print the PDF, transfer the file to your PC, and then print the PDF in Windows.

  • Where did the delete option go in Version 7.0

I listen to a LOT of podcasts and when I was through with each episode I could easily delete them from the library in previous iTunes versions. In the new version I can only select the podcast subscription for deletion and it wants to delete all the episodes associated with that particular subscription in the library.
The only place I've been able to find the listing of what's been added after downloading is under "recently added". This is actually where I want to delete the individual files that I've listened to. Not the entire subscription under the library.
My question is this. My "recently added" files are really starting to mount up even though I've listened to most of them. How do I delete these files one by one?

    It's now in two places:
    Clear History:
Clears the list of webpages you viewed. Also empties caches, removes website icons, and clears the list of recent searches. Website icons are small graphics that help identify sites on the Internet. You see them in the address and search field, the bookmarks list, and other places. You can see your recent searches by clicking the magnifying glass at the left end of the address and search field when it’s empty.
    Also:
In Developer Menu pull down > Empty Caches.
    Crazy, I know.
There is some question about which "Caches" the developers menu clears.  Stay tuned.

  • Help, where did my MBA 250 GB SSD disk space go?

I can't account for 123 GB of my MBA 13's 250 GB SSD.  A check of the SSD using "Get Info" shows 243GB used.  The folders using space on the SSD add up to 120GB being used (as indicated by "Get Info" for each folder).  When I look at the details about the SSD using "About this Mac" it states that I have two partitions on the SSD.  Is it possible that I have a partition that takes up hard disk space but is not viewable in Finder?  I keep running into low hard disk space warnings and can't see why when with the applications, music, pictures, movies, documents and system files on my computer only add up to 120GB.  Very frustrated...looking for any help I can get.  Thanks.

OK, this is helpful. From the DU info you have a 250 GB SSD that is fully partitioned and formatted as Macintosh HD. If you select the drive on the Desktop then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window, what is reported in the upper pane for the drive's capacity, used, and available space?
Do you use Time Machine at all? If not, open TM preferences and see if TM is turned ON. TM is supposed to do snapshot backups on the startup drive when turned on but when no backup drive is connected.
As for the About This Mac display it is not very useful. Other simply refers to anything not in the other categories and may consist of data, logs ,temporary files, cache files, etc. What is relevant is only what is displayed by the Get Info report for the drive.
It would appear there is about 8.7 GBs of free space on the drive. There is also a reserved amount of space equal to the amount of RAM you have. This is used for the sleep image made when you put the computer to sleep. The Recovery HD uses about 650 MBs of space.
I would suggest you get an external drive that is at least the same size as the SSD. Clone the SSD to the external drive using Disk Utility's Restore feature:
Clone Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue button.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Then boot from the clone using OPTION boot. Use DU to erase the SSD then restore the clone to the SSD. After that erase the external drive. Copy all the data in your Home folder to the external drive and erase the same from the SSD. This will free up a considerable amount of space on the SSD giving you a bit more leeway. For OS X to run optimally you need to maintain a certain amount of free space - at least 12 GBs or 10% of the startup drive's capacity, whichever is greater.
Overall I would suggest an external drive of 1 TB. Partition it as follows:
500 GBs for Time Machine backup.
250 GBs for additional storage use.
250 GBs for a bootable clone of the SSD.
This will allow you to put your photos, iTunes library, and movie files onto the external drive so you can remove them from the SSD to free up the space they now take up.
The MBA is not a choice for the home desktop computer. So you need to manage the space usage on the SSD. I keep just a trimmed down installation on my laptops. They are treated as the "travel" computer so I only put on them what is minimally needed for the travel. I use a 60 GB SSD but have more than enough free space for travel needs. If I need more space then I use a 500 GB HDD that has all the space I would likely need.
