Help with an order form

I'm a newbie to javascript and need help with the simplest way to create an order form.  The fields required are Order No., Description, Unit, Price, Quantity and Total.  The user would enter an order number which would automatically complete the Description, Unit and Price fields.  I have 448 products on the order form.
Product used:
Adobe Livecycle Designer ES in Adobe Professional 9

Hi,
There are a few things to consider first:
Where is the data coming from? Will the form connect to a database?
Is the data in an XML file?
Will it be OK to hard wire the data into the form? This is harder to maintain.
448 is a lot of codes for the user to process. Can these be split into groups, so that one dropdown with 10 options, would populate second with say 40 options.
What you are looking for is possible, but will require some scripting to get it to work and will probably require maintenance going forward.
Maybe a bit more info would help,
Niall
Steve has a solution for you ;-)

  • Help with complex Acrobat forms

    Hi Everyone,
    Background: I worked with another developer and completed a form for one of our clients but I need to know if the below change requests are even possible and if so if anyone would like to help with finishing the form. I am definitely willing to pay for an experts services as long as this can be done in a timely manner.
    What the form is - Our client wants a form that has text fields, drop down boxes and pages where images can be placed into the file and arrows drawn on it to point where the images are located on other images (some images are store layout maps). They would like to send this file out to their store managers, have them fill it in and then they would like the completed forms sent back so all of the information that was filled in (names, store names, addresses, square footage, etc) can be gathered into a database or excel file.
    What is completed so far
    - Cascading drop down boxes (user clicks on first drop down and whatever is selected changes the second drop down options, etc)
    - Most of the text fields for information gathering including city, state, store manager etc
    - Metric unit conversion boxes
    - Header text fields (read only) are used on several of the pages and are a combination of choices made in the drop down boxes and text fields.
    - Page footer info including page number
    - The over all layout of the pages is set
    Requested changes/additions
    Major must have:
    - Page Addition - There is a product page in the form (page 10) and the different stores will have a different number of these products to enter into the form so is there a way to add an ADD PAGE button on the page that when pressed will copy the product page to make a new product page? Now the product page has cascading drop down form fields on it so I would want to make sure the form fields are separate iterations of the form fields not just a duplicate of what was on the product page.
    - Footer adjustments - If we can do the above of adding pages then is it possible to at that point adjust the footer to reflect the page number changes? The footer shows the current page number then the form name and date.
    - Gather info - What is the best way to distribute these forms so that when returned completed the information can be gathered? I tried distributing via email which seems to work ok but the files might end up being too large for email so what is the best way to gather the completed info if say the files were ftp'd back?
    Minor:
    There are several minor change requests that I know are doable or that if not possible we can disregard. One that I am not sure about is if the color of the arrows in Acrobat can be changed from the default red?
    At first I was assuming that the Clients that get the forms needed Acrobat Standard or Pro 8 or 9 because I thought that the only way to add images was to use the Touch-Up Tool under advanced tools and right click to Place images. However I am pretty sure that if Reader Rights is enabled that images can be copy pasted into the file too if this is incorrect please let me know.
    If the above is not doable or if there is a better solution other than Acrobat forms to gather client information including allow the client to add images and place arrows then please let me know your thoughts.
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated and again id like to commission this out to anyone who is up for the challenge.
    Thanks in advance
    Jason

    Perhaps a better question is does anyone know a good developer?

  • Need help with Adobe Interactive Form Saving

    Hi Gurus,
    I need your help with Adobe Interactive form saving.
    I have written the code in pre-save event to prompt a message when user didn't enter any value before saving. The form data should not be saved upon clicking save (Just prompt the message and exit form the form). Can u please advice me how to do this.
    Regards,
    Srini

    see the link: http://forms.stefcameron.com/2008/04/
    it says:
    preSave: Failed validations will not prevent the form from being saved however Acrobat/Reader will issue a special warning message, after issuing the validation error message, to inform the user that the validations failed. Iu2019m guessing this is because the user may be saving the form to continue filling it at a later time so the save canu2019t be completely prevented.
    regards,
    BJagdishwar.

  • Help with creating a form, I want to add a check box to enable me to unlock certain fields and deselect the block again

    Help with creating a form, I want to add a check box to enable me to unlock certain fields and deselect the block again

    Look to the right under "More Like This". Your issue has been discussed many many times. The error you are seeing is because you do not have enough free "contiguous" space on your hard drive. Read the other threads that address this issue to find how to solve the issue.
    Or, put "The disk cannot be partitioned because some files cannot be moved" into the search box at the upper right of this page.

  • PLEASE help with server-side form validation using PHP!!!

    I feel like im going round and round in circles with this, after looking into all sorts of server-side advice i've come to the conclusion that i want to validate my form using server-side validation with PHP.
    So my form has several drop down menu's and  textareas  (not all of them need validation). For the part of my form i would like to validate, all i want is the drop downs to have to be changed/selected. So just a simple message like "You must select an option" if customers haven't done so. For the textareas, they just need to be filled out, so a message like "Information required" to come up if customers haven't done so.
    I believe i need to create a PHP page say for example 'error.php' place  the validation code in there and set this part of the the form to -
    <form name="product"form action="error.php" method="post" class="product_form">
    BUT im getting really confused with creating the code for the error.php. Please please can anyone help me with this!!!???
    Here are the drop down menu's i need validation on, error message being "You must select an option",
    "figurine"
    "engraving"
    "font"
    and here are the textareas that need validating, error message "Information required",
    "test"
    "Name"
    "house"
    "line_1"
    "line_2"
    "county"
    "postcode"
    "tel"

    Great thats good enough for me. In that case, would you please be able to help me create the javascript for the above validation?? If you could just help me create it for this page i can amend it for all the other pages. I'd really really appreciate it!!!
    Can you follow the below example?? Obviously AFTER validation has been successful you need to collect the information from the form and send it to the recipient email address...that's where you can use php. I'll check back tomorrow and see how you are doing.

  • Really need help with basic static forms?!?!

    I was thrown into creating forms for our Business Managers and I am not a developer in any way!  I am a Recruiter, but somewhat tech savvy (or at least I thought I was).
    I am trying to create basic static forms.  I started by using Adobe Professional and them moved to LiveCycle Designer because of what I thought were better "editable" options when creating the form.  I want to be able to send my manager's forms via e-mail (PDF), they can enter the requesting information in the fields, save a copy for themselves, print, and e-mail to me.  We are not using any of the Adobe Server things, I don't want them to submit via an e-mail button on the form.  We are a non-profit organization and my managers are using all different versions of reader.
    I am getting extremely frustrated because in testing the form everything seems to be working properly including tab order, print, save and everything I want it to do.  Then, I send them out for my managers to use, for some Manager's they work great, no problems at all!  But then, I keep getting these weird issues from different Managers with the same form.  For one of them, what they typed in the field, now looks like it's behind the text box, like when you select Highlight all, you can see what he typed, but then if you click into the text box, you can see what he typed. Another Manager said, two (crucial) fields would not show the text entered when she tries to save or print, but on screen you can see it????
    So after the rambling, I guess my questions are: should I be using Live Cycle to create such basic forms or should I be using Adobe?  Can anyone recommend a good "FOR DUMMIES" book that will help me figure out what I am doing wrong, and not explain in "IT" language?
    This is really getting embarrassing!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

    1. Make sure to set the PDF target version. Goto File -> Form Properties (see the first screenshot attached)
         Find out the minimum Reader version used in your organization and set this value accordingly. If you are not sure, select the least recent version.
    2. two (crucial) fields would not show the text entered when she tries to save or print, but on screen you can see it
         This may be due to the visibility settings of the fields. Just make sure that you have selected visible instead of visible (screen only)
         See the second screenshot attached
    Hope this may help you.

  • Problem with Purchase Order Form - SAPscript

    I have a custom purchase order form (Z_MEDRUCK) created using SAPscript. The address paragraph looks like this:
    ADDRESS PARAGRAPH AS
       TITLE        &LFA1-ANRED&
       NAME         &LFA1-NAME1&, &LFA1-NAME2&
       STREET       &LFA1-STRAS&
       LOCATION     &STR_SUPPL1&
       POBOX        &LFA1-PFACH& CODE &LFA1-PSTL2&
       CITY         &LFA1-ORT01&, &LFA1-ORT02&
       POSTCODE     &LFA1-PSTLZ&
       COUNTRY      &LFA1-LAND1&
       REGION       &LFA1-REGIO&
       FROMCOUNTRY  &T001-LAND1&
    ENDADDRESS
    When the Purchase Order Form is printed, if a POBOX exists, it is used instead of the STREET.  I did not write the SAPscript or any code involved with it.  I would like the POBOX to only be used if a STREET does not exist.
    Where would the logic to use POBOX exist?  I have stepped through ME_PRINT_PO and have found nothing. Any ideas?
    Thank You.

    After the word ADDRESS, add DELIVERY.  This should make a physical street address take priority.

  • Need help with receiving offline form in GP

    I'm new to GP and interactive forms on EP 7.0 SP15 and running into a problem with submitting an offline form and GP starting the process.   The examples were followed on how to set up the callable object with an interactive form.  I've got the form set up to be used as a standalone interactive form and starting a process upon completion.  I've selected the process which is active and completed the mapping.  Went through the steps to manage impersonalized interactive forms.  Downloaded the form, entered data and submit.  Get the message back that it was received successfully.  Went back and checked manage impersonalized... and can see that the form was returned.  Go back to Runtime and can't find the process listed anywhere.  Where is it going?  Is there a way to track it down?  Looked at Maintain queues and checked each queue, can't find anything with a timestamp around the time the last form was submitted.  Any ideas on how to figure this out would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Kathy

    Thanks for the reply! I was able to reset the field calculation order
    but have one field that is not populating right away and I have
    changed it's order everywhere?

  • Need help with Automatic Generating Form Numbers

    Hello,
    I am new to all this and have found myself stuck trying to figure out how to have my forms automatiacally generate a new number each time it is used. I tried looking through similar posts but do not understand the directions given there. If someone could help me figure this out I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

    Before opening my forms for responses I am creating a column with my starting form number - 1.  in the cell above(first response) I am setting an equation =B2 +1.  All incoming responses automatically generate an ID number within my responses table.  The form itself will not present the number, but if you were looking for an easy way to track responses w/ an ID it has worked well for me so far.

  • LSMW - Need help with Sales Order (Modification VA01)

    Hi,
    I need help with an LSMW for Sales Order (VA01).
    I need to do the following:
    1. Copy the Standard Sales Order LSMW
    2. They (users) would like to be able to pick the batch (lot) from the sales order.
    3. Also, they would like to have functionality, where from the list of Sales Order numbers, they would be able to switch one part number for another.
    Please help with the above 3 needs.
    Thanks,
    Laura

    Hi
    Run transaction SE38, insert your program (RVINVB10), select DOCUMENTATION option and press display
    Just only you need to consider the BDC program needs to read afile with all informations to create a sales order, so you have to create a program to prepare a file arraged as RVINVB10 needs, the documentaion explains how the file has to be created.

  • Need help with PHP contact form

    Hi guys,
    I've made a PHP contact form for my site and need help with a couple of things:
    The form action links an external PHP script (scripts/contact-form-script.php) but is there a way I can have it so the PHP script for the form is contained within the same PHP file as my contact form (contact.php)?
    I tried just putting the form code at the top of contact.php but the browser automatically reads the anti-spam re-direct, so maybe that needs revising too?
    The second thing is, how can I make the Name, Email and Message fields mandatory? So if a user tries to submit the form and hasn't filled in one of the required fields and clicks submit, contact.php reloads with a message at the top of the form saying something like 'Complete the required fields' and highlights the relevant field with a red border?
    Here's the code for contact.php:
    <form action="http://www.mydomain.com/scripts/contact-form-script.php" method="post" name="contact" id="contact">
    <p><strong>Name:*</strong><br />
    <input name="name" type="text" class="ctextField" /></p>

  • Need help with hiding a form td

    I am trying to set something up where I import a csv file
    with only a bunch of ID numbers. From those numbers I query and get
    the persons name and all that. For each record I want to show a
    <select> drop down menu to choose some options. Everything
    seems to be working fine right now but if I have invalid ID numbers
    it still displays a drop down menu.
    So say I have 13 ID numbers in the csv file and 2 of them are
    invalid. It displays a form select drop down box for all 13. I want
    to hide this somehow if the numbers are invalid. Here is my code:
    <cfloop index="index" list="#csvfile#"
    delimiters="#chr(10)##chr(13)#">
    <cfset list = #listgetAt('#index#',1, ',')#>
    <cfoutput>
    <cfquery name="a" datasource="a">
    SELECT S1.Name, S1.Cardnumber
    FROM IDs S1
    WHERE S1.CardNumber = ('#list#')
    </cfquery>
    </cfoutput>
    <cfif #a.recordcount# lt 1>
    <cfoutput>Invalid ID: #list#</cfoutput>
    </cfif>
    <cfquery name="b" datasource="a">
    select Level
    from IDsAccLevels
    where ID = '#userid#'
    ORDER BY Level
    </cfquery>
    Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
    <cfoutput query="a">
    <tr>
    <td align = "left" style="PADDING-LEFT:
    5px">#CardNumber#</td>
    <td style="PADDING-LEFT: 5px">#Name#</td>
    </cfoutput>
    <form name="test" method="post" action="schedule.cfm"
    target="_self" ID="testrow">
    <td height=21 class="pad5">
    <select name="bldgarea">
    <cfoutput query="b">
    <option value="#Level#">
    #Level# </option>
    </cfoutput>
    </cfif>
    </cfloop>
    </select>
    </form>
    </td>
    </td>

    No. You are looping through a list, and running individual

  • Need help with creating custom form

    hi all,
    i'm working on creating a new form. it has 2 blocks for 2 tables. headers and lines tables. the headers table mostly have columns that are id's from other tables. i.e. customer_id, location_id etc.. in my screen, obviously i would not show the id's. i'll display the descriptions / names of the id's instead like customer_name for customer_id... but in order to do this i created a table that joins more than 2 tables. so in the block query data source name, i enter the name of this view.. then i add a ON-INSERT, ON-UPDATE, ON-DELETE triggers at block level and i call the corresponding package which does the insert, update and delete. i'm able to insert but update and delete causes a problem. "ORA-01445: cannot select ROWID from, or sample, a join.. ".. i'm thinking the reason is that when the form does an update or delete, it locks the record which causes the error.. also the reason i need the view is because i need to be able to query the customer_name in the screen instead of the customer_id... what i can't figure out is how i can make this work... or a work-around may be...
    can anyone help.
    thanks

    You're right that the form is locking the record so you just need to control how it locks the record with an on-lock trigger. From the Oracle Applications Developer's Guide:
    page 3-9:
    When basing a block on a view, you must code ON–INSERT, ON–UPDATE, ON–DELETE, and ON–LOCK triggers to insert, update, delete, and lock the root table instead of the view.
    Most of the on-lock triggers I have written follow this template:
    <pre>     SELECT     field1, field2, field3
         INTO     :block.field3, :block.field2, :block.field3
         FROM     view
         WHERE     rowid = :block.row_id
         FOR UPDATE OF field1, field2, field3;</pre>
    I think once you've added this trigger, your form will work the way you want it.hi,
    i tried your suggestion but still get the same error.. anyways, here are the details of what i have so far.

  • Help with Acrobat 9 Forms

    Using XP and Acrobat 9 Standard:
    I have three questions about working with forms that I don't find answered anywhere.
    1. Can I edit the info in the Document Message Bar? If so how?
    2. Can I join form fields? I want to combine a short text field on one line with a longer text field on the next line so that the info will wrap to the 2nd line. For instance, there is a short question with the rest that line being blank. Then the next line is across the whole page. I want the top line to continue onto the 2nd line. I understand checking the multi-line option in preferences for a form field that is deep enough to hold several lines, but I want that short line to be included also.
    One of my problems may be that I need to have the form available with hard lines for hand completion and also available for those who want to complete it online.
    3. Once I make a form that can be completed online, do I have to 'distribute' it? I just want to upload it to a website so members can download, complete and email as an attachment. Do I have to do anything special to accomplish this?
    Thanks for your help.
    KW

    Thank you George.
    Let me explain a little. I do the computer work for a 501c3 charitable organization with only about 200 members. The completed forms will normally not be coming back to the computer that creates the form, but to the member who is collecting the data. There would be no security concerns with the data. Our website only has one public page and everything else is available in a 'members only' section.
    1. I want to give instructions in the Doc Msg Bar as to where to return the form. Our forms go to the people who hold different positions and jobs during the year. I may even need to tell them how to save, complete and then attach to an email at the correct address.
    2. I will redesign. We were hoping to use one form for both the hard copy, hand complete version and the online complete version.
    3. Our membership consists of middle aged women and I would bet that no more than one or two have anything but Reader. We do have them used to using Reader for our Newsletters and other forms. But we are just now trying to use forms that can be completed and emailed back. I've not given usage rights yet, but will do that if I can figure it out. I'm assuming I can find out how to do that and exactly what it means in 'help'.
    Thanks for your quick response.
