Help with bash function(set background=dark/light in vimrc)
I couldn't find any gvimrc files so I guess it uses the regular one. And since I work pretty much in X too I thought it would be nice with a function that sets background=light if I'm in X an background=dark if not. Is that possible?

vimrc configuration is not the same as bash.
You probably want something like this in your ~/.vimrc:

$FILE is obviously the archive name and is $1 the first argument.
$* would be the rest of the arguments (only so after the shift command.
So, archive archive_name list of files to be archived.

Help with Sort function in Terminal
Hello all... this is my first post on here as I'm having some trouble with some Termianl commands. I'm trying to learn Terminal at the moment as it is but I would appreciate some help with this one....
I'm trying to sort a rather large txt file into alphabetical order and also delete any duplicates. I've been using the following command in Terminal:
sort -u words.txt > words1.txt
but after a while I get the following error
sort: string comparison failed: Illegal byte sequence
sort: Set LC_ALL='C' to work around the problem.
sort: The strings compared were `ariadnetr\345dens\r' and `ariadnetr\345ds\r'.
What should my initial command be? What is Set LC_ALL='C'?

The characters can and variously do sort differently, depending on what language is involved.
Languages here can include the written languages of humans, and a few settings associated with programming languages. This is all part of what is known as internationalization and localization, and there are are various documents around on that topic.
The LC_ALL environment variable sets all of the locale-related settings en-mass, including the collation sequence that is established via LC_COLLATE et al, and the sort tool is suggesting selecting the C language collation.
Here, the tool is suggesting the following syntax:
LC_ALL=C sort -u words.txt > words1.txt
This can also be done by exporting the LC_ALL, but it's probably better to just do this locally before invoking the tool.
Also look at the lines of text in question within the files, and confirm the character encoding of the file.
Files can have different character encodings, and there's no reliable means to guess the encoding. For some related information, see the file command:
file words.txt
...and start reading some of the materials on internationalization and localization that are posted around the 'net. Here's Apple's top-level overview.
In this case, it looks like there's an "odd" character and probably an å character on that line and apparently the Svenska ariadnetrådens.
Switching collation can help here, or - if the character is not necessary - removing it via tr or replacing it via sed can be equally effective solutions.
Given it appears to be Svenska, it might work better to switch to Svenska collation thanto the suggested C collation.
I think that's going to be sv_SE, which would make the command:
LC_ALL=sv_SE sort -u words.txt > words1.txt
This is all generic bash shell scripting stuff, and not specific to OS X. If you haven't already seen them, the folks over at tldp have various guides including a bash guide for beginners, and an advanced bash scripting guide - both can be worth skimming. They're not exactly the same as bash on OS X and some specific commands and switches can differ, and as bash versions can differ, but bash is quite similar across all the platforms. -
I am trying to automate converting Pages documents to Word. Maybe later to reopen them in Pages but with the options set to create flat files.
I select the files I want and they open ok. The export goes ok and I click the file close button,
Maybe this close does not work as I get twice as many files open after each loop.
How do I stop the loop function bringing all the files in again each time.?

The "Dispense Items Incrementally" seems to work well enough. However, now the workflow stops at the end of the second loop. The file is closed but the "Watch Me" function seems to want something else to happen (it continues active). The only first file is still listed in the loop function.

'Missing parameter with PERFORM' error with a function IN BACKGROUND TASK
I am getting this error when calling a custom function in MIGO user exit ZXMBCU01. When I remove the 'IN BACKGROUND TASK' the function works fine and there are no error messages. When using 'IN BACK...' you can't debug within it to see where the message comes from. I see the message with SM58. I am working in an sap 4.7 environment. I have not found any solutions from google searches.

create seamless backgrounds like this that will scale to fit any
amount of content or any resolution? I can't imagine that the guy
that made that site created a new size background every time he
made an update, so there has to be an easier way.
the second thing that I am having trouble with is general
site layout. I have read that most sites used series of invisible
tables to organize there content, but when I open the source of
this page in dreamweaver, he was using something different. div
tags? should I be using these? who do I use them? are there any
general layout tips that someone could pass on to me? perhaps a
link to a good tutorial?

Can someone help with my video setting?
I have a bunch of small, heavily compressed AVI clips that I want to edit together. But I can't figure out how to export it with the best quality. The dimensions are 640x480, but those dimensions are always different on the exported video- I'm so confused. Here is the data of my video, if someone can help me find the settings that will keep my videos at the same or almost the same quality I would be so grateful!

Hello!! Hopefully I am posting in the proper section. If not, I will be glad to repost in the proper area. I am hoping that a fellow ModtheSims2 member who has experimented with movie making in the sims 2 and Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 could answer my question: I have been toying around with movie-making in the game
I film (or capture)the video clips (or shall I say computer game animations)using the game's best option of a resolution of 640 x 480 at 30 fps with audio at 11025hz 16-Bit mono (compressed). As you are surely aware the game saves the file into AVI format with the VP61 codec. When I open and view the AVI files using Microsoft Windows Media Player, the image is beautiful and crystal clear!!
If I import the AVI file into Windows Movie Maker 2.0, same thing, the image is beautiful and crystal clear!! But here is the problem, when I import the same AVI file into Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, and play the file into the source window, the video is heavily pixelated, in fact very large square pixels...It almost appears like a mossiac over the entire video. I tried turning the frame blending off in Adobe Premiere under 'clip' and then 'video options' but that does not appear to help. All the latest drivers for everything on my PC have been installed. Here are my specs Windows Media Center Edition 2005
P5W-DH Deluxe ASUS motherboard
Intel Dual Core 2.4ghz processor
2 XFX NVidia 7950GT graphic's card (512mb)
4GB Ram (although windows xp only uses about 2.5 to 3ghz of it)
1 200gb hard drive

Audigy 2 Platinum zs sound card Maybe Adobe does not support the VP61 codec, but I have not been able to confirm this anywhere. However I did find an article from the Adobe website about two machinima artists that use Adobe Premiere to make 'Sims 2' videos.

Might this be the problem? I found a 'cheat' on the internet to change the game's settings in the game's config. file so that it would capture the animations at 1024 x 768, like the resolution for my PC monitor. But once played in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, the clips still have the large square pixel problem... Its like big white and blue squares all over the image... But Maybe since I am using a widescreen monitor I must capture and edit in a true widecreen format like 1280x720 or above??? I dont know. I just find it weird that the AVI files play fine with Windows Movie Maker and Windows Media Player but not with Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 Being the amature I am with Adobe, maybe I am doing something wrong. But I did search all the forums and cannot seem to find any info to fix the problem... Maybe I must convert the AVI files before importing them into Adobe, but if it could be avoided that would be cool ... so if you have any info that could help me it would be much appreciated!! I'm afraid I haven't used Adobe Premiere, but have you checked on their site and support forums? I've used TS2 video clips in other movie editing programs in the past, so the format does work - it certainly sounds like Adobe is having issues there. Have you tried different codecs? You may also want to go have a look at sims99.com, a TS2 machinima site, which may have more info.

Thank-you for your reply - I did post this question at the sites you mentionned and suprisingly received many responses from the Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 support forums It would appear the Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 does not like compressed AVI files and it would also appear that Adobe does not like the VP61 codec that the Sims 2 game uses to compress the movie file (AVI). When I capture the Sims 2 movies by setting the options to 'Large' (640 x 480) and 'High' (30fps) - then the clips will not play properly in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 But when I capture the Sims 2 movies by setting the options to 'Large' (640 x 480) and 'High, uncompressed' (30fps) - then the clips play properly in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 I thought I had tested this originally, but that it was not making a difference. But I must of messed up, because as I say, if I film compressed, the clips have the pixelation problems in Adobe. If I film uncompressed there is no problems with the clips in Adobe. The only downside is that uncompressed clips are very large. (Like 1.5GB for 60 second clip) Cheers! -

Which one should you use? That depends on which version of Oracle you're using, and your exact requirements.

I am trying since 2 days to solve the issue of parallel process in background without using FPP.
For which I want to call function module of class method in new task but to be processed by background process and not dialog.
I searched so many websites but everyone has suggesteed to 'call function in background task' . But the fact is the processing of function happens by dailog process even in this case.
I want to loop at table and call FM or class method inside each loop.
Kindly suggest me how can I call function or class method in new task in everycall and prcoess it in background.

Does that make my questions easier to follow?It looks good, but without some sample data and the results you want from that data, I can't say for sure.
Please post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements (relevant columns only) for a little sample data, so that I (and the others who want to help you) can see exactly what your tables are like, and actually try our solutions. Simplify as much as possible. For example, if the data is actually coming from a multi-table join, but you already know how to join all the tables perfectly, then pretend all the data is in one table, and post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for that one table that looks sort of like your current result set. Post just enough data to show what you want to do. Based on what you've said so far, I'm guessing that 10 to 20 rows of raw data, resulting in 3 to 7 rows of output could give a nice example.
Also, post the exact results you want from the sample data you post. Explain, with specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
If parts of your desired output are optional (that is, if some parts "would be handy" or "could help") then post a couple of different sets of results from the same data, and explain, something like this:
"What I'd really love to get for results is" ...
but, if that makes things really complicated or inefficient, I don't absolutely need ... or ...,
so I'd settle for these results: ..."
I know it's a lot of work to post all this information, but it's really necessary. If I could help you without making you do all this, then I would. Unfortunately, I really don't have a good idea of where you're coming from or where you want to go.

hey folks,
on my way to the end of a little exercise. now I'm not a coding genius, hoping someone can help me out. i'd like to have a function that ends the game. so here's where I"m trying to go, seeing if someone has a more concise way of doing it. i have 25 mcs, all with sub frames called red, yellow, green. basically you touch the button, the light clicks on. each sub frame is labelled accordingly (green, yellow, red). so all I'm looking to do is a function that says when b1-25 has either "yellow", "red", or "green", a new mc while I'll create called "finish" .visible=true
is there a way to make this function without 25 and/or statements?Use a for loop to go thru as many of the objects as you need to make your decision.

I'm new to constructing functions in Numbers so I don't know if this
can actually be done.
Basically, I'm trying to change the cell colour IF the string LEN is > 10
So for I've got:
=IF(LEN(Ad2 General>10),Ad2 General)
But not to sure exactly how to pull this off.
I've looked around the web, but can't find anything.

I build an auxiliary table with the formula :
=IF(LEN(Tableau 1 :: B2)>8,1,0)
where Tableau 1 is the name of the main table.
I apply to this table the conditional format :
if cell contents equal 0 set text and background to white
if cell contents equal 1 set text and background to red
Then, I move the table behind the main one defined as transparent.
The result is :
