Help with Captions, within Slideshows

I'm struggling with trying to figure out how to customize the size and location of caption boxes, within each image of a slideshow. It seems that, once an initial caption box has been set in the first image, it appears in all consecutive images at the same location and size, with no means of individually controlling them. Am I overlooking something? Is there a way to customize the size and location of all captions within one slideshow? Your help/advise would be greatly appreciated. ~Thank you

i btw have the same problem: edit together active or not - it always changes the size of all my captions. i just want one of my captions to be wider.

Help with iPhoto '08 - Slideshow & Ken Burns

I need help with creating a slideshow using Ken Burns effects. The basic problem is that some photos are getting cut off. I know I can modify each photo for start/end place, but each time I run the show, the effects are different (one run, slide 1 goes left to right, next run it zooms out, etc.), so I can't tell which photos need to be individually modified. The show is 100+ photos, so I'd rather not modify each one. I was at the Genius Bar yesterday and the guy told me the effect would be consistent once I made the slideshow, so that I could tell which ones to fix manually, but that's not the case. Please help!!
Running: MacBook OS X 10.6.8, iPhoto 7.1.5

You can adjust the start and end boxes. You can move them, and you can adjust the size by dragging the corners. However, the box will always be in the same shape as your aspect ratio, (e.g. 16:9 or 4:3)
To do this, click on the Gear icon in your photo to open the Inspector. Go to the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tab of the Inspector.

Help with Spry Content Slideshow

Hi, I like the new widget browser and how easy it makes adding widgets in dreamweaver, Top marks to the developers.
I have been having a play around with the spry content slideshow, with the possibility of using it on a small business website I am working on. I have managed to alter the width and height of the widget and everything looks and works great. I was however wondering how I would go about adding say a 250w x 80h logo above the banner on each slide, which would also require that the banner and story be lowered slightly.

I was just playing with Spry Content Slideshow earlier, and conveniently still have it open, so I'll give this one a shot, too. It looks like you've got two options embed a "logo bar" of some sort inside the the Slideshow, or (the easier method) wrap the Slideshow in another container. I just used a single banner image.
I gave embedding a try and placed a <div class="logo"><img/></div> before the first article, but the JavaScript overrode this, and added a new article. Moving this construct inside the first article created a fairly nice banner, keeping the rounded corners at the top. The construct, however, will need to be added to each article. I didn't like that too much, but it's just a personal preference.
The easy way (?) would be a wrapper, such as <div class="logo"><img /><div id="theSlideshow">...</div></div>, then style the ".logo" class as needed, maybe even copying portions of the style from ".WLBSlideShow" in "wanderlust-brown.css" for the rounded corners, and maybe giving ".logo" additional "padding-bottom" and ".WLBSlideShow" a negative "margin-top", to overlap the bottom of the logo area. Localized CSS modifications (placed after the linked CSS) might be something like the following?

Need help with full screen slideshow image quality

I am looking to display some images with full screen slideshow. The images I add are very large, over 5000 wide. When I publish the site some images retain their quality while others lose it and look like crap. Why would this be and how can I fix it. I tried to resize them to the 2560x1707 that muse does, and then add them. This doesn't change the end result of poor quality.

Go to Assets Panel and locate the image you want to use at original size. Right click the image and chose 'Import Larger Size'.
See if that helps retain quality for that image, since Muse does not resize/interpolate that image for you.

Need help with navigation within a spark list...

hey guys, so in my application when you click on a list item, it opens up an image, and along with the image a few buttons are created dynamically...
the image and the url/labels for the dynamic buttons is provided through an xml/xmlListCollection.
what i need help with is the url or more specifically when you click on one of these dynamic buttons it needs to navigate me to another part of an list or display a certain set of images that is not in my spark list...
please let me know if this makes no sence

hey david... just nevermind my previous post... I was able to subclass a link button, so i now have two variables that get assigned to a link button,
one is "tabId" <-- contains the information on which tab to swtich to, and the second is, "changeTo"... this contans the label name which it needs to switch to

Help with very advanced slideshow using imovie?/idvd?/iphoto?

I am trying to create a more advanced slideshow for the first time, and I need some advice on how to manage my project and the order in which to use (if to use) the various applications (iphoto, idvd, imovie). I've been in all of them trying to figure out the best format to use, as each of them have certain features I'd like to incorporate into my slideshow. It gets a little confusing since this is all new and I just don't know how to approach it. If anyone has experience with all of these programs, maybe you could give me some suggestions on how to get the most out of what is available. Here is what I'd like to do:
I have a 4 minutes song from itunes which I want to use with a slide show of about 30 pics (whatever is a reasonable amount).
FX features (a sound effect at beginning before song and maybe some of the cool video affects on a few of the photos (in addition to Ken Burns )
Ken Burns zoom like an animated slideshow
Use a theme (preferably one from idvd as it seems to have more to choose from.
Since it is only one slideshow, I don't need the confusion of all the zones to import clips into, so I'd like to keep it simple. While I want to keep it simple, I'd like to have some sort of preview in the beginning with the cool stuff imovie offers like the title floating in etc..
So my problem is, I just don't know how to get all of these affects into one slide show because I'm training myself on bits ad pieces of each one, but I don't where to start (magic imovie, magic idvd, start from scratch idvd, or just slide show to import to idvd). I 've tried them all, but I can't figure a way to get more affects as each one has something different. Not sure if this makes sense, but I've trying so hard to get this right (for a Xmas gift) and I'm going in circles trying to keep it all straight. So, if this is possible, I would really appreciate help as to the best way to approach it. Thank you.

somewhere and home is close. (We start at about 15.00 24 of dec).
I would start with - if the music is bought from iTune store (a fix for a known
problem) to save it out as an audio CD (.aiff) else it will look OK till You try
Your DVD disk = No sound.
Then I would start a new iMovie project and from media button select photos
and drop one start photo from iPhoto down into timeline. Then I would import
the music from the new CD.
Cont to put photos one at a time into timeline. Change duration so that they
match the tempo in Your movie.
Transitions
Effects
etc.
Save from time to time to keep safe.
When the "movie" is done - close iMovie and open iDVD and drop Your movie
project icon into this - or - use the import function in iDVD.
DON'T Share/Export from iMovie to iDVD - it will destroy Your movie by a bad
rendering work. iDVD does this so much better.
I don't know any way to use the "themes" in iDVD into iMovie. Sorry

Help with buttons within buttons

I am trying to get stop and play buttons for the background
music of my site to work within an animated rollover state of a
separate button. When I put the stop and play buttons into the
rollover animation they effect the hit state of the button they are
inside, how do I get around this? If you look at
www.thepixelplaypen.com/site you will see the menu bar at the
bottom. If you click on the references button (the 3d thought
bubble) i have directed it to how I want the page to look and work
when the music bar is 'rolled over'.

I've look at the site but am not sure what you mean. 1st I
don't know what the music bar is. Are you talking about the menu
bar when it's blank and minimized? Because when I go over that it
jumps from expanding to its full form to back to its minimized
state over and over.
I think what you need is something a little more involved
than the over/out states buttons give you.
I would say a two state movie clip with a variable that flags
on and off for the menu. Have the "toggle" turn off when moved out
from the menu, but not when over the music switch. For example, a 2
second delay that tests for the toggle being off, and the music
button turns it on on over...

Need help with division within a query

Im pretty sure you need to use decode to avoid the divide by 0 error but not sure how to implement this within my query. When i run this query below, it gives me the result of "1", which is not correct. Can someone help me please?

Are you sure that the ANDs and ORs in your WHERE clause will take precedence properly?
Also, if you always select only cases where there has been an accident, what percentage would you like to display? Surely in this case the percentage of cases involving in accident in cases where there was an accident.. is 100%?

Help with Caption Buddy please...!

Has anyone out there had any luck using Caption Buddy:

to import IPTC titles and captions to iPhoto?
I'm shifting around 2000 photos from my PC to iPhoto, and loved that there was some way (however inconvenient) of importing the info I had spent numerous hours already typing out.
Problem is, I had Caption Buddy working on a trial run a few days ago, but today, after having moved all the photos to my Mac, the script just doesn't want to work!
The IPTC info is definitely there - I've checked it out with Graphic Converter, Image Info and Adobe Bridge. Even Preview is showing that the data exists. But Caption Buddy just doesn't want to play nice.
Of course, it likes some photos, just not the ones I need to import. There is a sample image that is included with Image Info when you download it, and Caption Buddy picks that info up just fine. It just hates my photos!
Maybe the world is just plain out to get me!
Anyone have a fancy trick that might explain why Caption Buddy is not working? Or if not, does anyone have a different way of translating IPTC captions to iPhoto comments?

I've fixed the problem, so for anyone who has issues using Caption Buddy, this solution might work for you:
If you've imported photos that aren't being recognized properly by Caption Buddy, try opening a browser window in Graphic Converter, find the photos (the originals, not those in your iPhoto library folder) and use one of Graphic Converter's lossless editing tools on the images. This could be as simple as rotating the image, flipping the image, or adjusting the resolution value in the image header (even if you adjust it to the same value as you already had). Re-import the images into iPhoto, and try Caption Buddy again!
For some reason, this simple method worked for me. Maybe the image headers just needed re-writing.

Need help with paint() within applet

I am having some problems in using the paint() method within an applet.
I need to use drawString() in the paint() method.
However, I discovered that when i used drawString() in paint() method.
It clears the background which has other GUI components wipe out.

super.paint(g) the paint method draws the components to, so if you override it and then never tell it to draw the components they don't get drawn.

Help with xml flash slideshow

hi,
i have made a sildeshow in flash which loads the pictures
from an xml file and between the transition, it shows a preload
bar. i have attached the code. my problem is that on local machine
it is working absolutely fine but when i upload it on the server
and call it as an external movieclip, it hangs ie., the 1st picture
is not replaced by another. but when i refresh the page, then it
shows 2nd picture but again hangs. and it goes on like that. could
you please help. i am exporting the swf for player 6. its a code
from kirupa.com tutorial.

Better to ask this on the actionscript forum. Also, include
the structure of the whole thing.. the main swf, folders (if any),
how
you are loading the 2nd clip into the main swf like into a
level, or movieclip etc. Also post a link to the swf files on your
website. If you do these things I am sure someone can help
you with it.

Hi All,
Can you please help me to find all the objects with a database link.
I have some procedures,function and packages which uses database link. I need to fetch all the objects that uses a database link. Is there any way to get the list of object names using any database link?

hi there,
the problem with dba_source is that the code might be wrapped.
another possibility is to query dba_dependencies, column referenced_link
Also you can have pl/sql routines that create dynamically code and might use dblinks in their dynamic code.
So you might not be able to be 100 percent complete.

Help with burning a slideshow to a DVD...

I'm using iDVD and I have about 260 photos in a slideshow with audio and I burned it to a DVD and it stops playing after it shows the 99th photo. I read online that it is limited to 99, so I altered the project into three seperate slideshows accessible from the menu. I synced music with all three of them and then burned the DVD. This DVD works except for the fact that the first slideshow has no audio, but the second two have audio. If someone could please tell me what is going on and how I can get this to work?

Are all your iApps updated? QuickTime at 7.1.3?
Where did the music come from that is missing? Audio CDs? iTunes?
Suggest you create a disc image and then burn the DVD. File/Save as Disc Image...

This will isolate any encoding/burning issues you may encounter. Once the disc image is created, double-click the .img and burn the virtual disc that should appear on your desktop, using Toast to burn the DVD. Disk Utility to burn the .img file. Usually, you can select a burning speed in Disk Utility.
There are variations to this process based on which OS X you are using...
Open Disk Utility (in Utilities folder in Applications folder), click on the virtual disc (maybe the .img) in the left-hand window. Click the Burn icon. A new window should drop down and your SuperDrive tray will open after clicking the Burn icon. Insert a recordable DVD. (Verbatim DVD-R preferred by me.) Click the Close button. Wait. Select a burn speed. If you hold your mouse cursor over the pop-up it says: "Select a slower speed to work around burn failures," so select 4x or slower for best results. Then click the Burn button.
-->If the virtual disk selection won't allow you to click the Burn icon, use the .img file instead. This may have changed in 10.3.9 and did change in Tiger.
Also, you can use DVD Player to play the virtual disk to check your iDVD project before burning to DVD. Launch DVD Player. File/Open VIDEO_TS (Open DVD Media... in Player 4.6). Find the VIDEO_TS folder and open that. (The audio folder is for DVD-Audio disks.)

[Need help with Caption]

Hi,
I have a quick question regarding Flash. I am creating a
caption using a dynamic textfield. I have created a button to
control the caption. On press of the button, the text shows up. On
release or rollOut, the caption disappears. What I want the caption
button to do is two thing. On press of the button, it should show
the text and on press again, the caption should disappear. How do I
do that? I got the first function working fine. On press, it shows
up, but how do I make it disappear on an another click.
Can anyone help me?

I'm guessing that you have a bunch of these caption
textfields in different frames, and you want all of them to on or
off, depending on the state of the button.
If that's the case then yes, you can use a variable to hold
the current value of that caption button. Then have each of these
caption textfields look at the variable's value when you get to the
frame where they show. Exactly how you implement this will depend
on how your movie is constructed.
