Help With Car Movement

Hi, I am trying to make a car game, but my car movement is
mucked up and I'm not sure why. It also needs brakes and
acceleration. I am really a noob to actionscript and any help would
be much appreciated.
Attach this code to a movieclip of some sort.

I would suggest changing your approach slightly - in
conjunction with what kglad has recommended here - and add a
velocity component and another conditional statement to apply the
friction reduction - I would also add a heading component as well,
as for further control, but using the rotation value will work.

So i need some help -
i have an imac desktop - i have an external hard drive hooked up to my time machine. all of my itunes media is on the that external HD - my issue is this -
    - i buy a movie via itunes store - it downloads to my preference set up external hard drive. Once its downloaded - i am missing artwork for the movie, and when i go to play it, it reads Itunes does not support QT. In the previous itunes all i had to do is delete the new movie from my itunes libaray and copy/drag it back into the libary and that would fix all the problems - i had artwork and it would work via itunes.
    - Since i migrated to to the new itunes 11, this little trick does not work - when i delete and drag over the file, it now  shows up in the "home video" section - i have no artwork and cannot watch the movie.  This is even the case with downloaded TV shows -
Any suggestions on this?  it was very frustrating that i had to do this maintainence before, but now it nothing seems to work.

You cannot install the latest version of iTunes (11.x) using Mac OS X 10.5 (as shown in your signature).
Apple menu > Software update. this will update all Apple software on your computer to the latest compatible version (which is not the same as the latest version).
If you want to go higher than Mac OS 10.5, you need to get the 10.6 Snow Leopard DVD.

  • Need urgent help with exporting movie

I have a simple 7-minute project on FCP 7 that consists of still images from the internet and hand drawn images with a few animated elements.
It has only one audio track and two video tracks. I am using PAL DV size format. I am in the UK.
I exported it using quicktime conversion with H264 compression and good quality and the final file size was 125MB.
My urgent problem is that I need to upload this file to a university website for an online course in two days, and their file size limit is 50 MB.
I need to make sure that the teacher can play the file, and I need to get it down to a smaller file size for uploading.
I have tried all sorts of exporting from FCP. I tried avi, m4v (the setting said ipod and it produced the m4v file), and quicktime mov at different sizes like 1/4vga size. The best file size was 29 mb for the m4v ipod export, and 98mb for the qt mov file exported at medium quality. The avi file grew to 1.2gb!
I don't know if the m4v file is playable on the system that the teacher uses (she is on a windows computer).
Can anyone please give me some specific advice on how to create a smaller video file that is more universally compatible?
I have access to all of the FCP 7 suite and the Adobe CS6 suite which includes Premiere Pro, Prelude and Adobe Media encoder, if that helps.
Thanks a lot for any advice.

    Hi Luis
The advice you've been given is good for helping you to get a good quality video at a reasonable file size.
But it may be worth thinking more about which format will certainly play on your teacher's PC.  The most likely player on any PC is Windows Media Player, which tens to be installed by default.
The most likely video to be viewed on a PC is one from YouTube...  andH.264 is supported on all "modern" PCs.  QuickTime Player is free and very available.
A disadvantage for Mac users is that yoou'll ned the Flip4Mac plugin to create WMV movies.  I think the cheapest paid version of Flip4Mac costs around £30.
All you need on a Mac fis the free Flip4Mac player.
If you get that, and choose the web high I quality setting, you should have a file within 50MB that plays reliably and looks OK.  (A cheaper way of doing this, if you have access to a PC, is to use the free Windows Media Encoder).
    Best of luck

  • Help with importing .mov file from iphoto

I have a casio exilim ex-z1080 digital camera. I have imported the jpg and mov files into iphoto, but can't seem to get it to import into imovie. i read a similar post to mine but could not understand. can anyone help in lay person's terms?
how do i get imovie to recognize the file?

What do you think is the best program to do this? is it QuickTime?
You can use MPEG Streamclip (free), GarageBand (part of iLife), or QT Pro ($30). Each will allow you to convert to any of the iMovie '08 compatible compression formats. (Just avoid Apple Animation and Apple Video which import and edit but do not export properly.) For simplicity, I would normally use use MPEG and convert to DV. This work flow produces a file that can be handled by almost any video editor and, since the format is very standardized, leaves few settings for the use to enter. All you really ned do is select the "Export to DV" File menu option, select any of the compression pop-ups (default DV25 is okay), enter your standard (NTSC or PAL), and set your aspect ratio (either 4:3 or 16:9). It is also a good habit to resample the audio to 48 Khz for consistency. Other that that, you can generally ignore the other settings. (You can also make adjustments to volume, brightness, contrast, and saturation as part of the conversion, but this isn't necessary if you are going to edit in iMovie '08 anyway.) The nice thing about this application is that it sets the anamorphic flag as part of your conversion which iMovie '08 uses in conjunction with the project properties to properly preview (or pad for preview when aspect of project does not match aspect of source file) and to set proper export dimensions (padded or otherwise) for the project aspect ratio output.

  • Need Help with slideshow movie !!!

I am trying to turn a slideshow into a quicktime movie with iMovie. I have imported the images. How can I get them to sort according to file name (so they will be in the right order) without having to individually move every slide? There's 293 of them. And is there a way to select all images and apply the "fit" action to all at once so they don't do the Ken Burns effect but just remain stationary?

Do you have the images loaded into iPhoto? Are they in an events?
I just dragged with one events (with 19 photos) into iMovie to create a photo slideshow. iMovie seems to follow the sorting sequence you set within iPhoto. So as long as you specify the sorting in iPhoto to be [By Title], then it should work. In iPhoto, you can highlight the event and click Show Photos. Then click View > Sort Photos > By Title.
And to apply "Fit" to all pictures, you just have to select all pictures (Cmd-A), then make the change to anyone of the pictures. Because you selected all pictures, they will all set to "Fit".
    Hope this helps.

  • Newbie:  Help with Interactive Movie Clips

I'm just starting off with Indesign and am already running into an issue on a seemingly simple issue.  I'm trying to create an interactive document that I will play movie clips when exported to pdf.  Ok so far so good.  I've inserted one movie and started to play around.
1st issue - The only option I can get to actually play the movie when clicked is when the pdf export option for compatibility is set to 'Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)'
How come no newer options work?  Using Acrobat reader 9 by the way and tried to toggle options such as 'embedding' the movie.
No luck with playing on any setting except 'Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4)'
2nd Issue - Inside the movie options dialog box for this clip, there is an option for a poster that I can 'choose movie frame' as poster.  The dialog box       comes up and is completely empth with no video controls or anything.  What the deal with this.
I'm just starting out and I know I'm not totally incompetant but I'm not very pleased with what I'm seeing right now.
Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Don

Here is some help for starter.
For embedding, do that in InDesign. I think you know the movie will only play in the PDF.
If you export to PDF 1.3/1.4•Non-RGB movie or sound posters aren’t visible in the exported PDF document.
•SWF and MPEG movies aren’t playable in the exported PDF document.
•Clipping paths applied to movie or sound posters don’t appear in the exported PDF document. Posters are resized to match the movie page item.
•Movies cannot be embedded.•Sounds cannot be linked.
If you export to PDF 1.5 or laterQuickTime is specified as the preferred player when exporting to PDF. To change the preferred player, you must edit the rendition in Acrobat 6.0 or later.
If you export to any PDF version•Non-rectangular media frames don’t appear in the exported PDF document.
•Hyperlinks applied to movies, sounds, or buttons are not active in the exported PDF document. However, you can add those hyperlinks using Acrobat Professional.
•Rotated or sheared movies and posters may not appear correctly in the exported PDF document.
•Any masking applied to movie frames or posters is not supported.

  • Need Help with iPhone movies

I downloaded a movie through iTunes last night for use with the iPhone 3G and when Sync'd it does not allow it to play. Can anyone help? Do I need to download an App to convert or can I convert this directly through iTunes? I understand that the movie file has to be an MP4 which I believe already is when downloaded through iTunes directly? Please help.
Also, one more question.. Is there an App out there I could download to make use of a zoom in-out function for the built-in camera in the iPhone? How about recording videos?
    Thanks in advance!

Do you see the movie in your itunes libary? I believe of you highlight it and right click it will show a option to convert video for ipod (mp4). I have only tried this with my own videos and not anything from itunes.
If you set you sync options so you have manual control over file management, are you able to click and drag it on to the phone?

  • Help with adding movies - they won't play linearly

    Hi,
I've made several short movie clips (2-4 mins each) with iMovie 08 and saved them as QuickTime movies (H.264 compression).
Now, in iDVD 08, I'm trying to add these clips in sequence to make DVD. The idea being that you could jump to a specific clip from the DVD menu, or, just let it play them all in a row.
Playing them all in a row appears to be the problem. I can add a clip, but when I go to add a second or third, it places them as though they were separate, not linked to the first clip. In other words, the only way to get to a clip when the DVD plays is through the menu. If you start on the first clip, when it ends, you go back to the menu, instead of going to the second clip, and so on.
    Make sense?
    What am I doing wrong?!
    Thanks very much in advance.

To get them to all play one after another you'll either have to join them together or add them to an iDVD slideshow like this.
This way you can have the full version and each "chapter" on the same menu.
If you create an iDVD slideshow for each clip you also scale them to the TV Safe area when played on conventional CRT TV sets.

  • Need help with long movie

I created a movie in iMovie that runs 56 minutes. iMovie keeps crashing when I try to share it in large format, so I broke the movie into two parts and was able to share. I needed to add chapters and did that in GarageBand.
How do I combine the two movies in iDvd?

Who/what were you sharing it with?
Your finished movie will easily fit on a DVD burned in iDVD. If you have the full 56 min. project still in iMovie, SAVE it, then close iMovie. Open up iDVD and import your movie. iDVD will render your movie and burn it.
EDIT: OH Sorry, forgot to notice you are in iMovie 08, so the workflow is slightly different. To get the two movies back together, I'm thinking you could re-import them into iMovie to combine them again and then burn the DVD.
