Help with recordset

I have a database with 9 items in 1 table
3 skateboards(records 1 to 3)
3 bikes (records 4 to 6)
3 rollerblades (records 7 to 9)
I want to be able to display records 1 to 3 on one page named
skate boards
and records 4 to 6 on another page name bikes
and the last page showing the 3 types of rollerblades
can I do this with one table or does I have to create 3 table
please help

What I would do is add a new field to your table and call it
Category. Then for your first three records I would add Skateboards
to the category filed, then Bikes for the next three and
Rollerblades for the last three.
What you would normally do then is that you would create two
pages: a summary page and a detail page. You would list the three
categories on the summary page and use the Go to Detail Page server
behaviour to turn them into hyperlinks and pass a query string to
the detail page. By clicking on the Bikes link for example, you
would pass the word Bikes in the query string and on the detail
page you would filter the database to only show those records where
Category = the query string. In other words, only show those
records where the Catogory = Bikes.
But you could also create three static pages and name them as
you have suggested. All you would do then is on the page called
skateboards for example, is to filter the database by using an
entered value - where category = Skateboards. By doing this there
is no need to pass a query string.
I think the previous reply didn't quite understand your
question as there's definitely no need to do a join. This is basic
database filtering by category as far as I can tell. Hope this

Please help with RecordSet Query

Hello all. I am trying to build a contact management system
for different offices. Each person has a login they use to access
their office's respective page. What I am wanting to do is pull up
all the employees' information that work at the same location as
the person who logged in. For example: Person A, B, and C work at
Location 1 and Person X, Y, and Z work at location Z. If person A
logs in, I want the to be able to see the dynamic table with the
information for all of Location 1 (Person A, B, and C). I
understand using the session variable MM_Username to filter the
recordsets based off who logs in. Where I'm confused is in pulling
up the records for everyone that shares the same location as the
person who logs in. In other words, if I say filter Information
based off Session Variable MM_Username it only returns the
information for the person who logged in. I want it to say, in
layman terms, Person A logged in, now look at their location, and
return all Person's information who has a location equal to that of
Person A. I hope I explained my dilemma clearly enough. If I need
to elaborate or explain any more please let me know. Thanks in
advance for any and all help.

Thank you for your help. Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm
still confused. I've made some changes to hopefully help. I have 1
SQL table (called "Employees") with TableID, Username, Password,
AccessLevel, and LocationID. I have another table (called
"Names"-for testing purposes) with just TableID, Name, and
LocationID. The query that I built, which doesn't work, is:
SELECT `Names`.`Names`
FROM Employees, `Names`
WHERE Employees.Store_Number = `Names`.Store_Number
I'm wanting it to simply display the names from the Names
table that share the same LocationID as in the Employees Table. I
realize that at this point it should just be a list of all the
employee names from the Names table, but what it's doing is
actually displaying 2 of every name. What do I need to do to set
this up to where the MM_Username Session Variable generated at
login grabs the LocationID from the Employee Table, then uses that
LocationID and displays all the names from the Names Table with
that same LocationID? I'm sorry for my lack of understanding, and I
really appreciated the help.
As a side note, why are there apostrophes around the Name
Table but not the Employees Table in the query window? Thank you
again.

Need Help with RecordSet Query

I need some major help please. Gettin really frustrated here.
From my search page, if I do not fill out any fields and hit
SUBMIT, all records in the recordset are being displayed. Why? I
have a default value set to '.' There should be no matches. I just
don't understand. Can someone explain it to me?

Hello all,
I am new to dw. I just update to 8.0.2 but now when i try to
creat a recordset nothing happen.
I try to click the bindings and the server Behaviors but
nothing happen when i click on it.

Help with Test Server & Binding Recordset ASP-SQL

Using CS 3.3/DW. Behavior is the same on two different
machines. One is Vista Home Premium SP1 IIS 7 with 6 compatability,
other is XP SP 3 IIS 5.1, both have IE 7 and full SQL 2005 with
SP's.
Haven't gotten very far away from static page yet, because I
can't test. Have scoured forums and even talked to Adobe who
recreated the problem then told me that they hadn't done sufficient
testing to SQL 2005 prior to release, were supposed to call me
back, did once, supposed to call back again and haven't (3 days).
So I'm turning to the community for help, please.
Set up test server in folder 'TServer' under
C:\inetpub\wwwroot. Built a 'Hello World' ASP/VB Script page with
no data attached, tests fine, puts in the appropriate folder and
says "Hello World" in browser like a good little box should! Have
built many DSN's, they tested during the building fine, I've tried
various versions of ODBC and OLE DB, including but not limited to
Native SQL Client, which is my preference and have been quite
successful setting up the DSN's...they add to the ASP page/Site
(it's greyed out unless you have an open ASP page) fine. Test at
that point works fine. As soon as I bind a Recordset (whether I
have dropped data on the page or not...same 'Hello World' page with
Recordset info near the top of the code) and test, I error out.
Any thoughts? I'm sure you'll need more info...I've tried to
put as much as I can for starters. Thanks in advance.

Need help with a recordset

I need some help with a recordset that selects a series of
vehicle makes that then show models when a make is selected. The
problem is when I select the make it shows a list of models like it
should, some of the make lists have five models and some have ten
or more. What I need help with is how to limit the list to just the
models and not include the "null" values. This makes my drop down
list have large empty spaces at the end of the options listed. The
query is as follows:

FROM saa.vehicle_make
WHERE make = '#FORM.select_make#'
Question # 2:
What can I add to this recordset so that I can search on just
the make alone without the model included. The submit includes both
of the make and model lists so that makes it tough to break up.
Here is the recordset:

Sorry I guess I wasn't being clear. The lists work fine with
the present recordsets but I was trying to clean them up just a
little. I am using a table in mysql instead of an array for ease of
maintenance due to the high number of makes and models I am working
with.
For question number one I was looking for sql that allows me
to only show the models in the table for each make no matter how
many are in the row. Currently when I use the existing recordset I
get a long list of blank spaces as it is returning the "null"
fields also. I would like it to just show the models and stop at
the first null field.
For the second question I wanted to be able to submit the
form with just the make listed if someone wanted to see all Hondas
lets say. Not I have to select the make also so it limits the
return.

I would really appreciate some help with my search & results page that is now throwing up the following error:

I am new to php and am setting up a dynamic site in Dreamweaver (thanks to the Missing Manual – very helpful). I apologise in advanced for my lengthy description of the problem (perhaps get yourself a drink before continuing!)
I have a Search page with 4 list menus where the user can select an option from ANY or ALL of the menus, if a menu is not selected the value posted to the results page will be 'zzz'.
On the results page I have 4 recordsets, all getting the correct results, only one recordset is required to run depending on how many of the menus from the search page have been selected and a test is run before executing the sql using a SWITCH statement checking how many of the menus had passed the 'zzz' values from the Search page if you see what I mean. The results page has Repeating Regions, Recordset Paging and Display Record Count. The exact result that I require are generated by this method.
THE PROBLEM, when a user makes a selection the first page of 10 results is fine, but the error message above is shown at the bottom of the page, AND when the user clicks NEXT to go to the next page of results THERE ARE NO RESULTS.
This is exactly what happens depending on how many menus selected and which recordset is used:
4 menus selected from Search: runs RSsearchforsale, results correct but 3 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale2),mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale3), & mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale4). The display record count shows correct results found. NEXT page is empty of results and still shows the correct display record count as if it should be displaying the records, also has the same 3 error messages.
3 menus selected from Search: runs RsSearchForSale2, results correct but 3 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale),mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale3), & mysql_free_result($RsSearchForSale4). The display record count shows correct number of results. NEXT page shows results from the DEFAULT setting of the recordset and the Display record count reflects this new set of results. Also still shows the 3 mysql_free_results for RsSearchForSale2, 3 and 4.
2 menus selected from Search: runs   RsSearchForSale3, results correct but 2 error messages on 1st page relating to mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale) & mysql_free_result (RsSearchForSale4). The display record count is correct. NEXT page does exactly the same as described in above 3 menus selected.
1 menu selected from search: runs RsSearchForSale4, results correct but 1 error meaasge on 1st page, mysql_free_result($RSsearchforsale). Display record count is correct and again when NEXT page is selected does as described in above where 2 or 3 menus selected.
If you have gotten this far without falling asleep then thank you and well done! I have pasted my code below and I know its a lot to ask but please please can you give me an idea as to where or why I have gone wrong. I felt I was so close at perfecting this search and have been working on it for weeks now. I feel sure the problem is because I have 4 recordsets on the page but I could find no other way to get the exact results I wanted from the menus.

Thank you for your reply and patience, we are getting closer in spite of me!
Of course i needed to change the name of the recordset, i did that the first time i did it (when i got the error), the when i re did it i forgot, in my defense i was also trying to get a full understanding of the code using the W3Schools php reference and writing by the side of the code on a piece of paper what it meant in English.
Anyway after re doing the code correctly it still displayed all the records of my database but i realised that was because i was POSTING from the search form and when i changed it to the GET method I now get results when all 4 list menus are selected from and the paging works. After reading about the POST / GET method i chose the POST option, is the GET method a better option in my circumstance?
On my site now if the user selects from 1,2 or 3 of the menus rather than selecting the relevant records it displays the NO RESULT page, I would like my users to be able to select from all of the menus or ANY combination of the menus and find exact results for their search, for example if they only select a location and a price i want it display all records that match that location and price with any number of bedrooms and any Type of property: Perhaps this is due to how my list menus are set up, for each menu the first Item label is Location (or Beds or Type or Price) and the value i have left blank which i believe means that it will use the item label as the value, the second Item label for all menus is Any and again the value has been left blank. All other item labels have values relevant to database records.

You're not adding the WHERE clause to the SQL query. My example code uses $query_search. You need to change that variable to match the name of your recordset, i.e. $query_RSsearchforsale.
Moreover, the WHERE clause needs to go before ORDER BY.

Help with Command - Stored Procedure

Hi all,
I'm having a great deal of difficulty getting my head around
an update command / stored procedure, I've pulled out all of my
books and spent the last two days on Google which has made my
confusion worse. In simple terms what I'm trying to do is update a
field in a table with the value y, but based on certain criteria.
So my table has the following fields -
JBAID
JBASiteID
JBADatePosted
JBAPostFor
JBANotified
What i want to do is update the value of field JBANotified on
all records that meeting the following criteria to Y
The criteria is -
WHERE DATEADD(d,JBAPostFor,JBADatePosted) BETWEEN DATEADD(d,
-7, GETDATE()) AND GETDATE() AND JBANotified = 'n' AND JBASiteID =
MMColParam (where MMColParam is Session("SITEID"))
So I've just tried building a command / stored procedure -
which reads (see attached code)(more than likely all wrong)
The things that I cant get my head around are -
Firstly getting the code right in the first place, running
the command on page load and then when the command has run
redirecting to the next page.
I really would appreciate some help with this -

Help with if statement in cursor and for loop to get output

I have the following cursor and and want to use if else statement to get the output. The cursor is working fine. What i need help with is how to use and if else statement to only get the folderrsn that have not been updated in the last 30 days. If you look at the talbe below my select statement is showing folderrs 291631 was updated only 4 days ago and folderrsn 322160 was also updated 4 days ago.

How do I incorporate a if else statement in the above cursor so the two days less than 30 days since last update are not returned. I do not want to send email if the project have been updated within the last 30 days.

I installed Sunbird in one computer and my calendar has all my infos, events, and task that i would like to see on another computer that i just downloaded Sunbird into. Also, is it possible I can access Sunbird on my iphone?

I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud 2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel. I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.” After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar? Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue? Thanks much in advance!

Help with HP Laser Printer 1200se

Really need your assistance. I have tried both contacting HP by phone (told they no longer support our printer via phone help), the tech told me that I needed to contact HP by e-mail for assistance. I then sent an e-mail for assistance and got that reply today, the reply is as follows "Randall, unfortunately, HP does not offer support via e-mail for your product. However many resources are available on the HP web site that may provide the answer to your inquiry. Support is also available via telephone. A list of technical support numbers can be round at the following URL........." The phone numbers listed are the ones I called and the ones that told me I needed to contact the e-mail support for help.
So here I am looking for your help with my issue.
We just bought a new HP Pavillion Slimline Desk Top PC (as our 6 year old HP Pavillion PC died on us). We have 2 HP printers, one (an all-in-one type printer, used maily for copying and printing color, when needed) is connected and it is working fine with the exception of the scanning option (not supported by Windows 7). However we use our Laser Printer for all of our regular prining needs. This is the HP LaserPrinter 1200se, which is about 6 years old but works really well. For this printer we currently only have a parallel connection type cord and there is not a parallel port on the Slimline HP PC. The printer also has the option to connedt a USB cable (we do not currently have this type of cable).
We posed the following two questions:
1. Is the Laser Jet 1200se compatible with Windows 7?
and if this is the case
2. Can we purchase either a) a USC connection cord (generic or do we need a printer specific cord)? or b) is there there a printer cable converter adapater to attach to our parallel cable to convert to a USB connection?
We do not want to purchase the USB cable if Windows 7 will not accept the connection, or if doing this will harm the PC.
We really would appreciate any assitance that you might give us.

Sorry, both cannot be enabled by design. That said, devices on a network do not care how others are connected. You can print from a wireless connection to a wired (Ethernet) printer and v/v.

Facts:
US uses 110v on 60hz
Australia 220v on 50hz
Making sure I understood that correctly. Devices I plan on bringing that will use power are PS3 Slim, MacBook Pro 2008 model, and WD 1TB External HDD. My DS, and Cell are charging via USB to save trouble of other cables.
Ideas I've had or thought of:
1. Get a power converter for a US Powerstrip, and then plug in my US items into the strip and then the strip into an AUS Converter into Australian outlet. Not sure if this fixes the voltage/frequency change.
2. Get power converters for all my devices. But, not sure if my devices needs ways of lowering the voltage/increasing frequency or something to help with the adjustment.
3. Buy a universal powerstrip, which is extremely costly and I wouldn't be able to have here in time (I leave Thursday). Unless Best Buy carrys one.

Check the specs on input voltage/frequency of your power supplies.
Many laptop power supplies are "universal/global" and are specced something like 80-265 volts AC 50/60 Hz, but not all. These will just need a connector adapter.
Unsure about the PS3 Slim - if it isn't universal it could be difficult as you'll need a 110/220 transformer, one big enough (power-handling wise) for the PS3 will be very bulky.
For the external WD HDD, if it doesn't have a universal supply, you're probably best off just finding a new wallwart for it that is capable of running on 220/50.

Creation of context sensitive help with pure FM 12 usage doesn't work

I hope somebody is able to help me with a good hint or tip.
I am trying to create a context-sensitive Microsoft Help with FM12 only using the abilities of FM (no RoboHelp). For some reasons, my assigned ID's are not used in the generated chm file and therefore the help does not work context-sensitively.
What did I do?
- I created my FM files and assigned topic aliases to the headers. I did this two ways: a) using the "Special" menue and assigning a CSH marker and/or b) setting a new marker of type "Topic Alias" and typing the ID. I used only numeric IDs like "2000" or "4200",
- I created a .h file (projectname.h) - based on the format of the file projectname_!Generated!.h (I read this in some instructions). So the .h file (text file) looks like this:

#define 2022 2022 /* 4.1.1 Menü Datei */
#define 2030 2030 /* 4.1.3 Menü Parametersatz */

- When I open the .chm file and look in the source code, the ID even is totally different. It is not the one, I assigned in FM, it is not the one which I assigned in the projectname.h file and it even is not the one, which was put in the projectname_!Generated!.h file. It is a generated name starting with CSH_1 ...n in a consecutive way numbered.
Example:
<p class="FM_Heading1"><a name="XREF_72066_13_Glossar"></a>Gloss<a name="CSH_1"></a>ar</p>
What goes wrong? Why does FM not take my assigned IDs? I need to use these IDs since our programmers are using those already - I had to re-create the whole online help but the programs stay untouched.

The text in my marker is just a number like "2000" or "4200". As said, I created manually a my.h file and used this marker there. E.g.
#define 2000 2000.
Whereby the first 2000 (in my opinion) is the marker text and the second 2000 is the context ID which the programmers are using for the context sensitive call of the help. My definitions in the my.h file were translated to #define 2000 1 (in the my_!Generated!.h file). The source code "translates" the context ID into CSH_8.
I am still confused :-/

Need help with Boot Camp and Win 7

I have iMac 27" (iMac11,1) 2.8 GHz, quad core, 8MB of L3, 8GB of Memory, Boot ROM Version IM111.0034.B02 and SMC Version 1.54f36 and can't get this machine to run Windows 7 using Boot Camp. I have successfully loaded Win 7 but when it claims to be starting I only get a black screen after initial start up.
I have checked and rechecked my software updates and have read and reread the instructions, however, I can't update my Boot Camp to 3.1 (my machine says i'm running 3.0.4) and I need 3.1 but can't load 3.1 because it is an exe file that has to be loaded into Windows after I load Windows but can't open Windows because I can't load Boot Camp 3.1. That's my excuse anyway, so I'm missing something I just can't figure out what it is....this is where you come in!
