Help with scene

Greetings all,
I am looking for tutorials on creating a scene similar to this: http://www.jeld-wen.com/designyourown#/catalog:/exterior-doors/custom/wood If you could point me in the right direction. More help is needed in how the buttons interact with the images. Is that action script or done through just the button itself? Do the images need to be pre-loaded or imported into flash itself and "compiled" together to the swf file?

If you're talking about the door selection animation at the center of the page, that's a variation on a coverflow animation. If you right-click on that portion of the page, you'll see a listing for something called Fluid Experience. If you google "AS3 coverflow", you'll find a a wide selection of examples for this sort of thing. This kind of effect is usually achieved by using Actionscript.

Help with linking buttons to Scenes

Rookie to Flash and AS3. Just needed some help with my buttons. Im making a flash program about pancakes (random I know). I have a "Mainmenu" scene and then a "Recipe" scene. I have a button on my mainmenu which takes me to the recipe page when I click it, the code behind the button is

First, hopefully having all your code mushed onto the same line is a copy/paste error, otherwise it should look like...

If the intention is to click the buttons to make them work, then you should use CLICK instead of MOUSE_DOWN. MOUSE_DOWN can be a persistent state whereas CLICK involves releasing it afterwards.
As for the code to get you back home, where is it located on the timeline? Are you getting any error messages when you try to use it?
One thing you should learn to use is the trace() function. It is useful for troubleshooting. You can use it now to see if your second button is talking to the function at all...

If you don't get that message in the output panel, you'll know the button is not properly coded to work.
Most folks here will recommend you get away from using scenes in a design that includes navigation--they have a history of being problematic. Instead of using scenes, divide the one main timeline up into sections or use movieclips for the sections and manage their visibility... or do a bit of both.

Help with exporting and image size or boundaries?

I am trying to slide the cat into the scene a little at a time foir an animation project I am working on. However, when I export the image the back ground of the image expands with a checkered back ground( showing here in white) and shows the whole cat.
How do I just show a little of the cat on the image at a time when exporting. I am trying to give the impression that the cat is walking into the room. I do not want to have to cut the cat up.
I would be thankful for any suggestions.

Need help with explanation of FRAPS to Adobe Pre Elements

Hello Everyone.
So I'm having this issue and its really holding me back. I am a complete hobbyist when it comes to editing and I'm trying to solve my issue where my fraps footage looks like garbage once imported into Adobe Pre Elements 9.
Now I wanted to get a newer version of Adobe because it seems to be a good starting place for me to get more into editing and its the only program I'm familiar with so I went ahead and bought Elements 11.
My settings are fine and I have made a post before about my issue and I have found the simplest answer I could find. but it makes no scene to me . I have no idea what a codec is and how to work these programs. I am looking for someone to explain to me what I have to do to keep my quality from fraps and import it into adobe and when its exported to actually look like its a 1080p Movie rather than what I'm having.

I have watched a number of videos on what my settings and render out settings should be and they are correct.

FFDShow is a "direct show" video application. Once, going back many years, Premiere (before either Elements, or the Pro versions) once used direct show for display. At about Premiere 5.0, that was changed, and Premiere began using its own display module. FFDShow is available from several sources, but many users of both PrPro and PrE have had issues with it, and it is usually tough to remove from a system. However, one trusted user and contributor here, Neale, found that FFDShow did help with some display problems on his computer, and some claim that Adobe T/S does recommend it, in some cases. Based on the problems, that so many others have encountered with FFDShow and several Adobe programs, I steer clear of it.
A video screen-cap program will capture at the computer's full screen resolution, or some portion of that, so if one has, say 1920 x 1080 for the display resolution, that will be the default capture resolution. What is stated by other posters is probably THEIR computer's screen resolution, and yours might well differ.
The HuffYUV CODEC is available free, but it is now rather long in the tooth. Many feel that the newer Lagarith Lossless, or UT Lossless, are better options, and both are free. In their cases, one would Export/Convert to MS AVI, but using the Lagarith, or UT CODEC, inside the AVI wrapper. It has been so long, since I last used HuffYUV, that I cannot recall if it was also wrapped in the MS AVI container, or not - just too long ago.

Help with clicks tag

I was ask to create an ad banner, I need help with how to track the web click on it, is it what the clicktag is for. What should I do, insert that code but where ?

Create Clicktag AS 2.0
1. Create animation
2. Add new layer to very top of timeline. (must be at top) Label "clicktag" or Inv button. (It doesn't really matter what you label it)
3. On first frame of this layer draw rectangle to cover full stage (may go beyond stage dimensions)
4. Rectangle must have a fill color. You may delete frame around the box. (Make sure alpha slider has some fill percentage before you draw rectangle to enable fill)
5. Convert this box to a button symbol. Name clicktag (or button)
6. Double click on this button or get to edit mode. Select color fill with solid arrow. Click on Properties panel/Fill color and adjust alpha to 0%.
7. Go back to Scene. Click on first frame of clicktag layer. Select the now invisible button by surrounding with solid arrow tool.
8. Select properties panel and click on arrow in circle to get Actions panel.
9. Make sure Actions panel says ACTIONS-BUTTON at top of panel.
10. Add coding from below:

11. Send swf/html files along with your target URL to publication

Need help with CS4 transitions

Hi,
I am trying to use a cross dissolve transition. To make it simple, I have two clips. I'm obviously doing something wrong here. I've watched the Adobe TV tutorial and all the guy does is to select cross dissolve from the effects box, and drags it over to the clip on the timeline. I think I am doing the exact same thing, but when I play my clip back, I can see no transition effect played back.
Maybe I'm putting it in the wrong place I thought, so I tried putting it in front of the split between the two clips. Then again at the beginning of the second clip. Neither of them worked, so I shut CS4 down, and booted it up again. I started a new project, and put two new clips in it. I put the dissolve transition at the beginning of the second clip, and it worked like a charm. Then to see if that was a fluke, went to a point about 3 minutes earlier in the timeline. So now I am on clip one. I go and make a cut in the timeline, and try to place another Cross dissolve at this spot. It appears to place the transition there because it creates the rectangular box, and it has the name cross dissolve in that rectangular box,but when I try to play it to see the transition, it isn't working. Go back to the beginning of the second clip, and that one still works perfectly.
I noticed that there is a difference in the appearance of the two cross dissolve rectangular boxes. The one that works has a single diagonal line that goes from lower left to upper right in the cross dissolve box, and then there are a whole series of diagonal lines that go from upper left to lower right all across the cross dissolve box . It looks like a whole bunch of dark gray and white backslashes. In the one that doesn't work, there is just that single diagonal line that goes from lower left to upper right. No backslashes on this one. What am I doing right in the first one, but not in the second?
I find that it will work perfectly if I put in a new clip. If I put in the Cross Dissolve at the beginning of a new clip that I add to the timelime, it will work perfectly. It is only when I try to split a clip that is already on the timeline, and then put the cross dissolve in at that point.
Perhaps it is not possible to do what I am attempting to do. Maybe you can't split a clip and place the transition at that point?

When I am shooting video, it is not unusual for me to be taping a scene of a mountain, for example, and then put the camera on pause, while I briefly position myself to take video of the river that is flowing at my feet. That is what is happened on this clip that I am attempting to put the transition in between. Rather than having the scene just instantly change at this point, from the mountain to the river, it would be nice to have a smoother transition then that.
My mind was working on the problem while sleeping last night, and I think I might understand how to handle it. It might have been too simple for me to think about yesterday. I haven't tried it yet, but would it not work, to insert the mountain scene from my source monitor into the timeline, and then go back and insert the river scene into the time line instead of inserting both of them at the same time. Would these not now be two separate clips on the timeline, and the transition could now be applied?
Your analogy with the DJ is very good, but it isn't quite the same. You are correct in that he would be only fading from one song to the same spot on the same song. In my case I am going from an image of a mountain to an image of a river. Same clip, but different images. I appreciate the help, and your thoughts.

Hello... i am still new to javafx nd my english is not very, please bare with me... i was trying to implement a simple application that manages personal contacts. i started using scene builder to help with user interface.. i was planning on adding File Chooser for profile picture uploads but i just cant find it anywhere on scene builder
How can be able to use the fileChooser?

Scene Builder is just a layout creation tool, it doesn't write any code for you.
To use a FileChooser you need to write code.
This is because a file chooser is associated with the dynamic behaviour of a program, not the program's layout.
There is sample code in the Oracle file chooser tutorial:

1. In Scene Builder create a button with text "Open File".
2. Select your button.
3. In the code pane provide a name for the onAction event handler.
4. Have Scene Builder generate a code skeleton and save it to a file.

Need Help with Inserting Timeline Markers

I have not use my premiere element 3.2 since 2008 and forgot some of the procedures. now, I need help with the insertion of Timeline Markers. I did what the Help Page showed me. But the markers were not effective in the resulting DVD, or, even when viewing the video in the editing page as if thye were not there! Here is what I did:.
1) Click the Timeline button.
2) Click in an empty space in a video or audio track in the Timeline to make the Timeline active and deselect any clips.
3) Move the current-time indicator in the Timeline to the frame where I need the marker.
4) Click the Add Marker icon in the Timeline to place the Marker 5 times where I want them.
5) Verified that each Timeline Marker is present at the intended place.
6) Burned DVD
7) Can NOT jump to any of the intended Marker in the Resulting DVD during playback.
The question is "What did I do wrong or didn't do?" It seems that I did the same before and worked! Please advise!
Also, what are the significance of the Red line just below the Timeline and the yellow bars inside the video and audio frames. But after preforming Timeline/Render Work Area, they were all gone? What purposes do they serve and what is the significance of Rendering? Thank you for your help!
I repeat the process and did a Rendering before making the DVD also. It did not help!

Long time no talk! You used to help me out many times when the PE-1 through PE-3 came out. I was HOPING you would still be around and you are! You came through again this time! Many thanks to you.
I use the Add DVD Scene button to insert the Markers. They are Green. Made a DVD and the markers work OK although ythey are "effective" during play back using the editing window.
While that problem was solved, will you come back and answer the other two questions concerning Rendering and the Red/Yellow lines? I would appreciate it very much!

Help with Scne Selection menu

I am putting a full length feature together and need to have scene selections. I noticed on all (or most) DVDs it seems to be one menu(I may be wrong) with scene numbers 1-4, 5-8, etc. When you click on thes numbers the menu BG stays the same but the pictures change according to your chapter selection. I can't figure out how this is done. It may be 3 similar menus in their own VTs.
I also need to know how after the scene you seleced has played it continues the movie from that point to the end. Is this done by just not setting an "End Jump"
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Help with if statement in cursor and for loop to get output

I have the following cursor and and want to use if else statement to get the output. The cursor is working fine. What i need help with is how to use and if else statement to only get the folderrsn that have not been updated in the last 30 days. If you look at the talbe below my select statement is showing folderrs 291631 was updated only 4 days ago and folderrsn 322160 was also updated 4 days ago.
I do not want these two to appear in my result set. So i need to use if else so that my result only shows all folderrsn that havenot been updated in the last 30 days.

How do I incorporate a if else statement in the above cursor so the two days less than 30 days since last update are not returned. I do not want to send email if the project have been updated within the last 30 days.

I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.” After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar? Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue? Thanks much in advance!

Really need your assistance. I have tried both contacting HP by phone (told they no longer support our printer via phone help), the tech told me that I needed to contact HP by e-mail for assistance. The phone numbers listed are the ones I called and the ones that told me I needed to contact the e-mail support for help.
So here I am looking for your help with my issue.
We just bought a new HP Pavillion Slimline Desk Top PC (as our 6 year old HP Pavillion PC died on us). We have 2 HP printers, one (an all-in-one type printer, used maily for copying and printing color, when needed) is connected and it is working fine with the exception of the scanning option (not supported by Windows 7). However we use our Laser Printer for all of our regular prining needs. This is the HP LaserPrinter 1200se, which is about 6 years old but works really well. For this printer we currently only have a parallel connection type cord and there is not a parallel port on the Slimline HP PC. The printer also has the option to connedt a USB cable (we do not currently have this type of cable).
We posed the following two questions:
1. Is the Laser Jet 1200se compatible with Windows 7?
and if this is the case
2. Can we purchase either a) a USC connection cord (generic or do we need a printer specific cord)? or b) is there there a printer cable converter adapater to attach to our parallel cable to convert to a USB connection?
We do not want to purchase the USB cable if Windows 7 will not accept the connection, or if doing this will harm the PC.
We really would appreciate any assitance that you might give us.

Sorry, both cannot be enabled by design. That said, devices on a network do not care how others are connected. You can print from a wireless connection to a wired (Ethernet) printer and v/v.

Going to Australia and need help with Power converters

Facts:
US uses 110v on 60hz
Australia 220v on 50hz
Making sure I understood that correctly. Devices I plan on bringing that will use power are PS3 Slim, MacBook Pro 2008 model, and WD 1TB External HDD. My DS, and Cell are charging via USB to save trouble of other cables.
Ideas I've had or thought of:
1. Get a power converter for a US Powerstrip, and then plug in my US items into the strip and then the strip into an AUS Converter into Australian outlet. Not sure if this fixes the voltage/frequency change.
2. Get power converters for all my devices. But, not sure if my devices needs ways of lowering the voltage/increasing frequency or something to help with the adjustment.
3. Buy a universal powerstrip, which is extremely costly and I wouldn't be able to have here in time (I leave Thursday). Unless Best Buy carrys one.

Check the specs on input voltage/frequency of your power supplies.
Many laptop power supplies are "universal/global" and are specced something like 80-265 volts AC 50/60 Hz, but not all. These will just need a connector adapter.
Unsure about the PS3 Slim - if it isn't universal it could be difficult as you'll need a 110/220 transformer, one big enough (power-handling wise) for the PS3 will be very bulky.
For the external WD HDD, if it doesn't have a universal supply, you're probably best off just finding a new wallwart for it that is capable of running on 220/50.

Creation of context sensitive help with pure FM 12 usage doesn't work

I hope somebody is able to help me with a good hint or tip.
I am trying to create a context-sensitive Microsoft Help with FM12 only using the abilities of FM (no RoboHelp). For some reasons, my assigned ID's are not used in the generated chm file and therefore the help does not work context-sensitively.
What did I do?
- I created my FM files and assigned topic aliases to the headers. I did this two ways: a) using the "Special" menue and assigning a CSH marker and/or b) setting a new marker of type "Topic Alias" and typing the ID. I used only numeric IDs like "2000" or "4200",
- I created a .h file (projectname.h) - based on the format of the file projectname_!Generated!.h (I read this in some instructions). So the .h file (text file) looks like this:

#define 2022 2022 /* 4.1.1 Menü Datei */
#define 2030 2030 /* 4.1.3 Menü Parametersatz */

- I published the Microsoft HTML Help. A projectname_!Generated!.h has been created. My IDs were not used in this file:

#define 2560    6
- When I open the .chm file and look in the source code, the ID even is totally different. It is not the one, I assigned in FM, it is not the one which I assigned in the projectname.h file and it even is not the one, which was put in the projectname_!Generated!.h file. It is a generated name starting with CSH_1 ...n in a consecutive way numbered.
Example:
<p class="FM_Heading1"><a name="XREF_72066_13_Glossar"></a>Gloss<a name="CSH_1"></a>ar</p>
What goes wrong? Why does FM not take my assigned IDs? I need to use these IDs since our programmers are using those already - I had to re-create the whole online help but the programs stay untouched.

The text in my marker is just a number like "2000" or "4200". As said, I created manually a my.h file and used this marker there. E.g.
#define 2000 2000.
Whereby the first 2000 (in my opinion) is the marker text and the second 2000 is the context ID which the programmers are using for the context sensitive call of the help. My definitions in the my.h file were translated to #define 2000 1 (in the my_!Generated!.h file). The source code "translates" the context ID into CSH_8.
I am still confused :-/
