Help with some small things on my (very) simple live-cd.

I've been thinking about trying my arch setup on another hardware (since I've had problems with the SLiM login manager, and I suspect that I wont have those problems on other hardware, don't ask me why...:/).
So the best way I've come up with is to create a live-cd of the system, although I must admit I'm doing it mostly for fun , and it seems simpler than I had thought.
For the moment I'm temporary changing the fstab and then use mkisofs to create a bootable dvd image (with isolinux) of my root fs, and then burn it. However, having the root partition on a read-only filesystems have some obvious disadvantages.
Since the system needs to create many temporary files, It isn't possible to start x from the cd (but the terminals does start), so I need a simple way to create a ramdisk and then let all changes to the root filesystem mounted on a dvd to be saved on the ramdisk instead.
this tutorial gives a good understanding of ramdisks, but I think I'll still need a way to save the changes in places like my home directory (which is already mounted) to be placed in the ramdisk.
So anyone got any experience of using ramdisks, or having directories mounted over several places (that's whats needed here, right?)?

There are some scripts that already accomplish this for you. Take a look at gradgrind's work at http://four.fsphost.com/gradgrind/dev3A/index.html. He uses unionfs to accomplish what you are trying to do.

The credit that I was due totaled $63.00 I am looking at a message on my phone saying that $21.01 was credited which makes my balance $219.72. I received a text the following day that says, I processed your credit of $30.00 and your new balance $216.73 how is that possible? None of the late fees were credited and the amount due for my monthly charges are wrong. Before any changes were made to my data plan back in Nov. My monthly charges were $140.00, I needed my hot spot back and i was told that the hot spot will increase my bill $10 for each phone that totals $20. The customer rep that change my data plan at that time also gave me a credit of $20 to compensate for the increase until I had time to talk with customer service about the mix-up with my Hot spot. I originally had the hot spot, but the rep that change my plan almost a year prior told me nothing was changing except I was getting more for less money. I explained to that rep that I need my hot spot 4 times a year...and I don't want my plan to have any changes. To verify what I'm telling u check my account and see that I called from Albany New York wanting to know where my hot spot was and I was told I didn't have the hot spot on my account since the last data change! I lost money once again due to the verizon rep's. so my current data plan the rep promised would increase $20 which makes my monthly charges that were $140 prior to the change $160 after the hot spot was returned to my account. Then I was given a $12 credit per month for 12 months because of so many mistakes made to my account so with that $12 credit my monthly charges should $148 + surcharges + taxes and that's not what I see. I do know this much right now my account is in such a shambles I can hardly see the light at the end if there is an end! I need real help!

I'm having this same issue. I also have this line in my log, which is curious:

Help with some of my music that i imported...

Hi, i buy all of my albums and import them on itunes and my Lady Gaga cd is titled as the Artist Various Artist instead of Just Lady Gaga.... Is There anyway i can fix this. Also In some cases it has split some of my Albums in two or even 4 different album covers yet it is all from the same album... examples :Chris Botti (TO Love Again) or Stevie Ray Vaughan (Texas Flood) it does this because it features different artist, it also does this on rap albums. how can i get it to stop doing this. Another concern is when it doesnt put the album in order or track listing like the way it should be or as it was intended on the album... some albums the track listing is out of order, how can i fix this. Please if you can give me some solutions this would be very helpful. I am a proud Apple/I tunes user, this is not a complaint i just like to keep my library nice and neat thanks!

LEts see what i mean is i have lets see three examples of this... one Nirvana with the lights out its a 3 disc cd of their unreleased songs... now i want those all in one album artwork... or (album) where i dont have to see that disc one ****, same thing with Red Hot Chili Peppers : Stadium Arcadium, i dont want them aranged by cd (Jupitar and Mars or better known as disc one and disc 2) i just want it as Stadium Arcadium with all the tracks listed in order on one Stadium Aracdium artwork. Same for Pearl Jam Lost Dogs i think you might get the point... in the process of trying to figure out of i could combind albums i experiented with the least favorite of the 3 to see if it would work i did the compilation method and now i have 4 album artworks of pearl jam lost dogs a copy of disc one twice with only one song on one of them, same goes for disc 2... so ive fiddled with it.. basically i need to know if the combinding of discs on an album is possible if not no big... also to fix my Pearl JAm one... sorry im such a hassle.

New to Solaris administration - Need some help with some issues

I am a new to Solaris administration and need some assistance with a few things. I was going to make separate posts but decided it would be easy to keep track of in one. I really do not know much about the OS but I do have a little Linux background so that might help me out. I am going to number my problems to keep them sorted, so here we go.
The machine:
Sunfire V880
4x 73GB HDs
PCI dual fiber channel host adapter
Attached RAID array:
Sun StorEdge T3 Array with 9x 73GB HDs
Sun DDS4 Tape Drive in a Unipack
OS: Solaris 5.10
Updates: Updated everything except 2 patches (Updating is a real pain isn't it? At least it seems that way to me.)
1. So I might as well start with the update issues! These 2 updates will not install:
-PostgreSQL 8.2 source code, (137004-02)
Utility used to install the update failed with exit code {0}.
-Patch for mediaLib in solaris, (121620-03)
Install of update failed. Utility used to install the update is not able to save files. Utility used to install the update failed with exit code 4.
No idea why the PostgreSQL update is not working, but the medialib patch seems to not have enough hard drive space.
2. Where are all the drives? I don't know how to find the RAID box or the other 3 internal hard drives. When I installed the OS, I think I installed it on only one hard drive and that might be part of the reason why the medialibe update above says that I don't have enough space.
3. I probably need more space for the OS and updates, is there a way to "add" space onto the hard drive that currently is running the OS?
3. Once I see the other hard drives I wish to combine them to make a RAID 0 and RAID 5 array, how do I go about doing that?
4. How can I find/see the tape drive?
5. Does my swap space really need to be 64GB? I know the book I have read suggests it, but I only made it 5GB because it didn't seem to make sense to make it 64GB.
Thank you in advance for the help. I know these are a lot of questions to ask but please go easy on me :)

Exit code 0 means there were no errors. When you run showrev -p 137004-02, does your system show that the patch is installed? I'm new to flash and need help with some controls

I'm builidng a site that has a portfiolio of work to display.
When the visitor arrives at the portfolio page he (or she) is
faced with a split panel. The right panel displays a summary of a
client and the work. The left panel displays the work examples
attributed to that client. By clicking forward and backward arrows
in the right panel, the visitor can call the summaries of the
different clients. Landing on a client page 'opens' a separate swf,
called using loader component, that contains the portfolio of that
client's work into the left panel
1. I want forward and backward arrows located on the main
movie in the left panel to control the progress of the loaded swf,
rather than using forward and backward arrows on the loaded swf.
2. I want to prevent the forward and backward arrows in both
panels from clicking beyond frames in the Portfolio area of the
timeline.
3. I want the backward arrow to be innactive on the first
frame, and the forward arrow to be innactive on the last frame.
I have no problems making the arrows work on the main movie
controlling the client summaries. What I don't know how to do is
make them control the movement of the loaded swf, or #2 and #3.

There are different coding methods, depending on where you
put code..
1) Frame code
Click on a frame of the timeline to enter frame code
2) Attached code for movieclips and buttons
Click once on a movieclip or a button then enter attached
code
To make an onEnterFrame event for a movieclip, first chose
either frame code or attached code method. I personally rarely ever
use
attached code because it hides code in places that can be
hard to find. Almost all my coding is frame code, but it's a
personal
choice.
Frame code method to make an onEnterFrame for the main
timeline..
// put this code into a frame on the main timeline
this.onEnterFrame = function()
// do something once per frame at the frame rate
checkMyButtons(); // once per frame we will check on the
button status
OR
Attached Code method to attach an onEnterFrame event to a
movieclip
// click once on the movieclip (don't dbl click it .. stay at

Those two types of code are not interchangeable. One type
must be entered into a frame and the other style must be attached
to a
movieclip or you will get errors.

Where 2 go for help with some questions about a logo design?

I'm an absolute novice Illustrator user (CS4). Im doing a web site for a mate and he's given me a logo that I have made a vector drawing of. It was black and white, and I made it coloured but I have discovered that colour gets difficult when you go for grayscale! You all knew that, didn't you?
I'm not putting the logo up here because I don't want to ask a question that's too far off the purpose of the board. So, if I can't show it here can anyone suggest another forum where people do that kind of stuff and are kind to novices please?

As I understand it, you are troubled -- among many things -- by the lack of differentiation among the spheres when you convert to grayscale. Is that correct?
If so, there are some things to consider. For example, the original uses only two attributes -- color and size -- to differentiate the spheres. Otherwise, you have the same shapes and the same gradient fills (other than base color).
When you remove color from the equation, you're left with only one differentiating attribute: size. Not surprisingly, you find yourself facing a dull uniformity -- the monotonicity produces monotonousness. Now, the challenge is to add back some differentiating features.
Not a whole lot of choices here. You can develop different gradient fills for a subtle effect, but you have to be careful: If the "lighting" changes dramatically among spheres, you'll end up with an unnatural look.
You might consider forgetting about gradient fills altogether and go with solid or texture fills. Sometimes, simpler is better... especially with a logo.

Help with some CSS layering

So it took me a wile and some playing around to make the page
centered. But I got what I needed. I put every thing inside a
#wrapper to get it centered but I needed some elements to stretch
out, so there width is 100%. And them being inside the #wrapper
stop that. So I took the div's out of the #wrapper and put them
back in after the </wrapper> line. That work great. In
preview. So I upload and to my shock it looks very wrong live. The
layer order is all out of whack. So I played with the z-index to
make sure they were underneath everything they needed to be. And
there was no change. Can some on have a look for me?>

Not here. It's a disaster in FF2 & IE6. I don't think
this site can be
fixed. I can't believe the approach taken. The homepage is
not huge it's
humongous. Browser has to be 1300+ pixels wide to see the

Help with some transitions

Hello, i'm trying to do add some transitions to my video. I want to do a intro like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBPV0f6c56s
I have already written the swords, the texts and the central anime minecraft guy with Anime Studio, but i need to do this 3 things:
1. Am expanding cirle opening
2. A light/flash as transition between the first animation and the next logo
(I have another question, but more difficult: I want to do a sun rays effect from an angle)
All of these effects-transitions are in the youtube video that i linked.
Can someone help me with one of these questions?

The circle wipe is just that, a transition. Look in Effects>Transition. I'll give you a clue, a circle has a radius... It's there along with some more interesting effects.
You can also do a circle transition with a simple animated mask, use a scaled round layer as a track matte or about a hundred other combinations.
The light burst effect can be done with a simple masked white solid blend mode set to add and opacity keyframes or by searching your effects and pre-sets for light b. You'll find it. Just add it to a solid between your layers, set the blend mode to add and use an animated mask and opacity to bring in the effect. (the yellow thing in the middle is the animated mask that makes CC light burst interesting.
Same thing can be used for your sun rays. It's just a matter of layering and the shape of your mask.
Here again, there are dozens of ways to achieve this effect.
If you're completely lost then start here. This is basic enough AE that you shouldn't really need a step by step tutorial to pull it off.
Or as dave suggested, get Anime Studio.
