Help with struts tag

Hello Friends,
I'm very new to struts, and have a code piece that does the following:
<logic:iterate id="paramData" name="<%=printParam%>" >
<PARAM NAME = "<bean:write name="paramData" property="key" />" VALUE="<bean:write name="paramData" property="value" />">
<PARAM NAME = "rootUrl" VALUE="<%=HttpUtil.getServerUrl(request)%>" >
</logic:iterate>
It iterates through a Map and gets the values in the applet. However I now have to change this so that it gets the applet params from a ParamsVO.java, a value object. How does the code change to get the values now?
I have paramsvo.getXXX methods that I can use. Though not sure how they are used with struts. Pls help!!
Karen

All the parameters are in this ParamsVO object? Each with their own getter/setter?
I don't think you are able to do this in a loop.
You just have to write a <PARAM> tag for each property, and get its value.
For instance if paramsVO has getParam1() method
<PARAM NAME="param1" VALUE="<bean:write name="paramVO" property="param1"/>">
Cheers,
evnafets

  • Help! Problem with Struts tag html:errors/

    Hi everybody,
    In my JSP page called addUser.jsp, i have the different Struts Tag

    </html:form>
    I have of course the ApplicationResources.properties file with differents Struts properties:
    errors.footer=</ul><hr>
    errors.header=<h3><font color="red">Validation Error</font></h3>You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:<ul>
    errors.ioException=I/O exception rendering error messages: {0}
    and an other one:
    error.fieldsNeeded=<font color="#FF0000">Some fields are missing.</font>
    when I call the addUser form, my JSP page display:
    null Some fields are missing. null
    Have u any suggestion about my prob?
    tx a lot
    s.

    Hi,
    can u post the java code where u are actually adding the error to the action errors. may be there is something wrong with that. I dont see any problem with the jsp or the applicationsResources.properties.
    Thanks

  • Help: OJSPC can not compile the JSP with struts tag

    Hi,
    I am trying to precompile the JSP page with EAR package but OJSPC can not parse the Struts tags.
    I always get oracle.jsp.parse.JspParseException:
    Error: org.apache.struts.taglib.html.MessgesTei while reading TLD /WEB-INF/tld/struts-html.tld
    My OC4J version is 10.1.3.2 and I did tried putting the struts-taglib.jar to /opt/oracle/product/app10g/j2ee/home/jsp/lib or /lib/taglib
    but still do not work.
    Can anyone tell me how to configure the OJSPC and let it support customerized taglibs?
    Thanks a lot!

    This is a new problem with jdk1.4 when compiling with tomcat.
    The solution is to ensure that any classes in WEB-INF/classes are in a package structure and the relevant jsp calls the same using the package name.

  • JDeveloper editing JSP with Struts tags terribly, terribly slow!?

    I use JDeveloper 10.1.2 and I do not know the reason but it started to take 15min just to change/edit JSP containing Struts tags. RAM memory is 1GB and there is more than 0.5 GB available, but processor usage shows 100% allocated to JDeveloper!? As soon as I do even slight change in a JSP file JDeveloper starts some computations and I have no idea of what it is doing.
    What is JDeveloper computing? It seems it tries to produce some drop-down lists "helping" me to do the editing, add tags and instead I am spending days to just change one small JSP page!
    How can I stop and PREVENT JDeveloper doing ANY "help" during editing of ANY file?
    There must be an option to switch off whatever JDeveloper is doing?
    Many thanks,

    I did that but it is still very slow, it looks like Jdev is doing some intensive calculations whenever I click somewhere on JSP page with tags. Maybe this is related with my other question I posted before this one? Maybe JDev automatically searches for tag libraries it cannot find and copies them to /WEB-INF directory? (other IDEs used in same environment, like Eclipse and IntelliJ, and they do not have this problem)
    Some other strange things: struts-config.xml seems not integrated with CVS from JDev (other files like tiles-config.xml, web.xml etc. are integrated, I can right click and get CVS info on particular file, except struts-config.xml). When I want to check in/out struts-config.xml I have to do it with external tool like WinCVS etc., cannot do that from JDev!

  • Need help with Struts on J2EE 1.4

    Using deploytool, I deployed one of the examples from
    the struts 1.1 rc1 distribution. The WAR file deployed
    successfully, but accessing the page results in the
    exception below.
    Is this a security issue? If it is, where and how do
    I need to change permissions? If it's not, what else
    did I forget?
    Any help is appreciated.

    I got a little further.
    First I thought that there were no changes to the WAR file,
    but then I realized that deploytool had changed it and this
    is where it got messed up:
    There was an innocuously looking entry <jsp-config/> that
    deploytool had generated, followed by the list of taglib
    elements, so instead of being wrapped within the jsp-config
    element as is now required by the 2.4 web-app schema, they
    were still listed in the 2.2/2.3 style, and thus could not
    be found.
    I am now getting another exception (see below).
    I also noticed that there is a second (older) struts.jar
    file in the lib/system directory, which may get in the way.
    Does anyone know what the classpath looks like that is
    being used by the web container?
    Further help with this and the exception is still welcome.

  • Need a help with Struts Tiles dynamic menu

    Hello,
    I am started few days ago with Tiles, try to develop web application.
    Can anybody sugest very simple example with Tiles and menu.
    So my definition looks like this:
    tiles-def.xml
    <tiles-definitions>
    <definition name="MainDefinition" path="/layouts/myLayout.jsp">
    <put name="title" value="This is the title." />
    <put name="header" value="/tiles/header.jsp" />
    <put name="menu" value="/tiles/menu.jsp" />
    <put name="body" value="/tiles/body.jsp" />
    <put name="footer" value="This is the footer." />
    </definition>
    I am simple layout.
    I need to on menu click change body content, now i am doing it like this:
    index.jsp
    <%@ page language="java" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-tiles.tld" prefix="tiles" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-html.tld" prefix="html" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/struts-bean.tld" prefix="bean" %>
    <%String body = request.getParameter("body");%>
    <tiles:insert definition="MainDefinition" flush="true">
    <tiles:put name="body" type="string"> <%= body %> </tiles:put>
    </tiles:insert>
    But now body is a string how to make it open url?
    Maybe somebody have link to menu Tiles good examples.
    Thanks

    But here's some useful advice :P
    I'm going to assume that the other two people involved in this have a bit more experience, have them do most of the designing. Have them leave most of the easy stuff for you. You can then spend your time learning the minimum of what you need to know. And if you have problems, or don't understand things, ask your partners for help.
    And you'll want to set some spare time for you to all get together and do something fun so that you don't kill each other because of the stress :P
    I've had a lot of bad project experiences, fortunatly they where all just at school :P I blame myself, mainly because I didn't do the whole thing myself (mostly because I listened to people when they said that I shouldn't or couldn't do everything myself.) I'd like to say that it's mostly because of poor communication, and disorganization, but an awful lot of it had to do with the fact that I tend to be the only person with any work ethic what so ever.
    But whinning and repressed memories aside, good communication and organization help a lot. Come up with a good system with your team mates. And don't be afraid to ask questions. And don't worry about dividing up the work load equally. Just make sure you put in a good amount of effort, if not frightening amounts.
    If all of you are clueless, divide up the learning stuff between yourselves too.
    I have no experience with Struts. I've done a bit of stuff with XML, but nothing too complicated. The XML by itself tends to be extremely easy. What you plan on doing with it can vary (I don't like XML incidentally :P)
    Other then that, good luck.

  • Trouble with struts tags

    Hi,
    I am new to struts and am getting confused with the tags.
    I have few doubts.
    My Actionform would be -
    public class AForm extends ActionForm {
        //~ Instance fields ********************************************************
        String deptNo;
        String dName;
        String loc;
        //~ Methods ****************************************************************
         * This function
         * @param deptNo DOCUMENT ME!
        public void setDeptNo(String deptNo) {
            this.deptNo = deptNo;
         * This function
         * @return DOCUMENT ME!
        public String getDeptNo() {
            return deptNo;
        }In my action class I say -
    selectSql = "SELECT DEPTNO FROM DEPT";
                    pStmt = conn.prepareStatement(selectSql);
                    theResultSet = pStmt.executeQuery();
                    ArrayList _arrayList = new ArrayList();
                     while (theResultSet.next()) {
                        AForm theAForm = new AForm();
                        theAForm.setDeptNo(theResultSet.getString("DEPTNO"));
                        _arrayList.add(theAForm);
                    req.setAttribute("arrayListOfDeptnos", _arrayList);My question is -
    How do I get this arraylist in the JSP and iterate through it? Should I code in this way? Is there an more elegant way to do it??
    My JSP page
    <%
              java.util.ArrayList ss = (java.util.ArrayList)request.getAttribute("arrayListOfDeptnos");
              if(ss!=null){
        %>
          <logic:iterate id="booId" scope="request" collection="<%=ss%>" type="mypackage27.AForm">
            <html:link action="/getme" paramId="theNum" paramProperty="deptNo" paramName="booId">
              <bean:write name="booId" property="deptNo"/>
            </html:link>
          </logic:iterate>
          <%
        %>I know this must be very trivial ...

    Rather than using collection attribute (which requires a runtime expression) instead use the name attribute.
    Also, if you aren't going to use the variable "booId" in scriptlet code/expressions, you can leave out the "type" attribute.
    Probably the scope attribute as well.
    That all boils down to:
    <logic:iterate id="booId" name="arrayListOfDeptnos">
      <html:link action="/getme" paramId="theNum" paramProperty="deptNo" paramName="booId">
        <bean:write name="booId" property="deptNo"/>
      </html:link>
    </logic:iterate>And for completeness, the same thing using some JSTL code:
    <c:forEach var="booId" items="${requestScope.namearrayListOfDeptnos}">
      <html:link action="/getme" paramId="theNum" paramProperty="deptNo" paramName="booId">
        <c:out value="${booId.deptNo}"/>
      </html:link>
    </c:forEach>Cheers,

  • Help with JSP Tag Libraries

    Could someone please help me with the setup process of tag libraries? I've looked on the Internet and found some instructions, but they are all for Tomcat. I'm using Jserv, and I'm not sure how to setup my environment to work with custom/tag libraries. Could someone help me by giving me some instructions or sending me to an article that could help me?
    Thanks in advance!
    -PV

    Hi pvongboupha
    The best source for getting to know how to set up tag libraries is the JSP specification. You can download this from :
    http://java.sun.com/products/jsp/download.html
    See the chapter on Tag libraries. Any J2EE compliant server will conform to these rules.
    You can also see a chapter from Core Servlets & JSP by Marty Hall. This chapter is on Tag Libraries

    Keep me posted on your progress.

  • Help with clicks tag

    I was ask to create an ad banner, I need help with how to track the web click on it, is it what the clicktag is for. What should I do, insert that code but where ?

    Create Clicktag AS 2.0
    1. Create animation
    2. Add new layer to very top of timeline. (must be at top) Label "clicktag" or Inv button. (It doesn't really matter what you label it)
    3. On first frame of this layer draw rectangle to cover full stage (may go beyond stage dimensions)
    4. Rectangle must have a fill color. You may delete frame around the box. (Make sure alpha slider has some fill percentage before you draw rectangle to enable fill)
    5. Convert this box to a button symbol.  Name clicktag (or button)
    6. Double click on this button or get to edit mode. Select color fill with solid arrow. Click on Properties panel/Fill color and adjust alpha to 0%.
    7. Go back to Scene. Click on first frame of clicktag layer. Select the now invisible button by surrounding with solid arrow tool.
    8. Select properties panel and click on arrow in circle to get Actions panel.
    9. Make sure Actions panel says ACTIONS-BUTTON at top of panel.
    10. Add coding from below:
    on (release) {
    getURL (_level0.clickTag, "_blank");
    11. Send swf/html files along with your target URL to publication
    Good luck

  • Help with Div Tags

    Hello,
    I've got 2 flash files in separate div tags. Div 1 is sized 100% x 100% to match the movie, and the other div tag is set at 900px x 700px (again to match the movie). The 1st tag sort of acts as a background to the top layer. This all works great and really happy with the result.
    My only problem is when the browser window gets smaller than the top layer a scroll bar appears (this is no problem, i actually don't want the top layer to resize due to text legibility etc.) but what i notice is that when you scroll to view the rest of the top layer, the bottom layer no longer fills the screen, the remainder of the screen is now white, it actually cuts off some of the image from where the window was in it's last position.

    Any suggestions to why this is happening?

  • Help with DIV tags (i think)

    Hello all,
    Just started using Dreamweaver and was following a tutorial
    about making a layout in Photoshop, slicing it, and then importing
    it into Dreamweaver. Then I delete the content portions of the
    image and add a box with DIV tags.
    Now, the site works just fine when I put only a single line
    of text/content for both FF and IE.
    However, once I add a second line, the site becomes a mess in
    FF.
    I have the site hosted with 2 lines of text in my main
    content box here:
    http://cnorthington.site.io/sitebase.html
    Any advice you can offer would be great.
    Thanks,

  • Help with nesting tags (STRUTS)

    Hi,
    I'm having a few problems with the following nested tag:
    <input name="indicator_target_<bean:write name='indicators' property='indicator_id'/>" size="10" value="<bean:write name="TargetValuesActionForm" property="indicator_target_<bean:write name='indicators' property='indicator_id'/>"/>"/>
    The page returns no getter method for "indicator_target_", but i'm not trying to get the "indicator_target_" value i'm trying to get the "indicator_target_ + id" (i.e. indicator_target_23) value. For some reason the nested _<bean:write name='indicators' property='indicator_id'/> tag which is part of the input 'value' param is being ignored?
    anyone know how I can resolve this?

    One of the first rules of JSP custom tags - you cannot use a tag as an attribute to another tag. For dynamic attributes you have to use a runtime expression. - either <%= expr %> or in a JSP2.0 container ${expr} as well.
    Your "input" tag is plain template html. So you can use custom tags for the values of the attributes.
    The one that is failing is
    <bean:write name="TargetValuesActionForm" property="indicator_target_<bean:write name='indicators' property='indicator_id'/>"/>
    I am presuming you are in a logic:iterate loop, or equivalent.
    Something like this might work:
    <bean:define id="currentId"  name='indicators' property='indicator_id'/>
    <bean:write name="TargetValuesActionForm" property="<%= "indicator_target_" + currentId %>"/>However all of this is very nasty.
    And struts can do at least part of this for you with indexed properties. You might want to take a look at them.
    Hope this helps,
    evnafets

  • Help with struts bean tag

    I populated my data in a hashtable and it contains key & the values are in an arraylist of treemap. How do I display data using struts bean tag? Thanks.

    if you have an arraylist of maps why do you need three iterates?
    <logic:iterate id="treeMap" name="navTable">  //navTable is your ArrayList treeMap will be each map
         <logic:iterate id="element" name="treeMap">  //element is each element as it iterates through treeMap
                         key = <bean:write name="element" property="key" filter="false"/>
                         value = <bean:write name="element" property="value" filter="false"/>
             </logic:iterate>
    </logic:iterate>unless of course I missed something and you really need three iterates.
    of course you need a getNavTable() method, though you probably already have that.

Maybe you are looking for
