Help with .TGA alpha layer

So i already tried on 1 forum http://gimpforums.com/newthread.php?fid=7 (Gimp)
I need some help with making a alpha channel; Funny thing is. I made it work once a few days ago. I went to bed and forgot to write down how i did it (Tried everything, almost)
In the link right here http://www.mediafire.com/?debcev89sv2k77n i have 4 files;
- Q3a_arrow_gimp_ver4.tga (TGA that works as i want it) You'll notice ALL the alpha channels have a black layer channel in the channels tab, how do i recreate that?  |||||| 1 thing you will notice with this working as intended picture is that the channels are diffrent from Q3a_arrow_methodtry.tga/Q3a_arrow.png i do not know how to make it look the same?
- Q3a_arrow_methodtry.tga (tried to recreate with THIS tutorial http://www.lucasforums.com/archive/index...26716.html with no success P.S. i tried loooads of tutorials but this recreation seems rather close to the working .TGA i need)
- Q3a_arrow.ai (sourcematerial all vector from Adobe Illustrator)
- Q3a_arrow.png (picture with transparency intact, rendered from Illustrator if needed for comparison)
So; Now... What i did to make the working picture was making a .PNG from Illustrator - drag it into gimp.. I recall doing some Alpha and or masking or selection thing with it, then rendered it for .TGA since Illustrator does not support the kind of .TGA i needed. The image worked flawlessly in the engine where i used a function called->
alphafunc GE128 (blend with black as invisible layer and white as solid  - it is a open gl C command)
(standard image) http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr75/...lip-12.png
(after code applied) http://s471.photobucket.com/albums/rr75/...-46-54.png

Hmm nope that did not fix it; The tutorial was a bit outdated i had to use mask transparency instead of fill because layers only have 1 right click menu now.
By the way i need my image to be a 32 bit .TGA with a black background so that the special program i need the picture for can read the black color/alphalayer?
I was hoping someone could take a look at the alpha channels and help me step by step to recreate it. (All source is made by me so do not assume i am lazy, might even be trying as you read this as i want it to work badly)

  • Problem with TGA+Alpha

I'm trying to export an image sequence (tga) with alpha channel but when it finishes the result is an image without alhpa channel. I don't see the option Milions of colors+ nowhere. How can I export TGA with alpha channel?

The "Export Still" is in CS4, though it has moved to AME (Adobe Media Encoder) now. Supposed to be back in Export within PrPro with the 4.1 update. It's a few more steps, than before, but still quite doable. You just need to do it from within AME. As you know, "Millions +" is what you want.
    Good luck,

  • Help with linking a layer to motion tracked video

Not sure of the best way to describe this. I have a video with shadow in it which only moves slightly when camera pans a little.
Ive created a static image and removed the shadow in photoshop although could have probably done that using the clone stamp in AE.
However, the problem I have is that when the photoshop image is imported and I create the mask around the image where my shadow is on the video, the image is not tracked or linked to the video... How do I link it to the motion tracked video so that it moves with the video ?

    Hiya
Yeah one below.. What you will see is the photoshop file, then the null layer followed by the original footage. In effect I need the photoshop image to track the movement of the camera as when I currently play the video, when the camera moves it looks as though a chunk of grass (the mask) is moving different from the rest of the scene.

  • How do you export a png sequence with an alpha layer?

    you're welcome.

  • I can't render an Uncompressed Alpha layer. Help

    HI
I did my project in premiere. One layer has the band playing and the layer above has all the cut away scenes.
I exported the bottom layer of the band footage and did all the colour correction etc on it and am now trying to do the same for the second layer.
The problem is there are gaps in the footage where the layer below would be playing. So when I export the second layer, black is displayed and this covers up the footage below in After Effects. A uncompressed 10bit AVI does not give me an option of millions+ colours or rendering with alpha. I just tried rendering as un uncompressed Quicktime codec with millions + colours ticked but it did the same.
How can I get uncompressed footage with an alpha layer so that I can see the footage in the layer below when there is nothing to be displayed in the layer above?
The shoots are different so thats why I'm doing 2 different colour corrections
    thanks
    Jamie

    Using Premiere Pro CS3,
I put a quicktime movie (.mov) I had made in AE with an alpha channel on the timeline.  I just wanted to test to see if I could export out of Premiere as a quicktime movie with an alpha channel.
However, using Export - Movie - under File type, I don't have quicktime as an option.  I do have cineform, but I'm using a regular NTSC widescreen preset.
Has quicktime been added as an option for an output file type say in CS4?
    Thanks,

  • Export with transparency / alpha

I am doing a green screen key, and I prefer to compose the background with the keyed foreground i FCP. I am achieving great results with DV-keying in shake, and would like to export my keyed clips with their alpha layer, so that FCP will import it with alpha/transparency.
I have tried exporting targa rgba, but cannot seem to render them out as a sequence. (Only one image is rendered, and the other frames are rendered in the same file, overwriting it).
Is this possible, either trough a video format or through an image sequence or something?

You need to put special characters in the filename to tell Shake where to put the frame numbers. # is for a 4-char padded number and @ is for an unpadded number.
    For example:
    MyFile.#.tiff returns MyFile.0001.tiff and MyFile.0100.tiff
[email protected] returns MyFile.1.tiff and MyFile.100.tiff
    MyFile.@@.tiff returns MyFile.01.tiff and MyFile.100.tiff

Need help with photoshop to find TGA on same as because I cant find it there or is it a download you need to get it. And its for photoshop element 12.

Yeah, I thought it was dumb to remove it, too. See:

  • Help with Layer Modes

Well...im new here at photoshop so i dont know if im asking in the right place or not but i really need help with something to do with layers
I have one layer [the basic bottom layer] and an image that ive already cropped out and colour corrected that i wanted to put over my bottom layer without losing any texture, like the effect where you have your layer/brush mode on the "colour" setting and you colour over something and its basically a colour replacement...Seeing that technique doesnt work too well with an image, i would greatly appreciate any help :3

Hello! If you are trying to blend images together to create texture, I would use the Multiply or Screen blending mode, depending on how light or dark your images are.
Here I took an image of a bird and placed it on top of a tree texture.
    Is that what you mean?

  • Changing an image with an alpha to a layer

OK this is going to be tricky to explain. I have an image...it's a house I rendered in Cinema 4D. It has an alpha channel which of course is the outline of the house. I'd like to edit the house...for example, make the roof wider. Of course I can do this, but I can't have it edit the alpha, too. Is there any way to do this? I know you can create layers and delete the edges of an object and do it that way...but my image is flat with an alpha channel. Is there a way to convert my house to a layer and have the black erased?
Ultimately, I'd like to take my image and then add a layer and copy the house to a layer, and not have the black background come with it. I would assume there's a way to convert an image with an alpha channel to a new layer, but I'm not sure how

Another way...(Assuming I read what you want correctly. lol.)
On the layers panel drag the little lock, side of the layer to the trash can, this will convert the background layer to a normal layer.
In the menu goto select>Load selection - For the channel select your alpha channel. (This uses your alpha channel for a selection)
Make sure your layer is still selection if you have more than one layer
Select the third from the left icon at bottom of layer panel (looks like a square with a circle in the middle) This will create a mask using the selection.
Now what was white in the alpha chanel is visible and what was black is now transparent.
Now your image has a mask and since there is a link between the two you can scale the image and the mask at the same time.

  • No support for pse4, need help with help and everything else. What's a layer? How can I get help PDF from CD? I don't have a clue how to use this. I have a Macbook pro.

Need help with help pse4 not supported by adobe. how to do topics not available and I have never used any thing like this. Help says there is a download but have not been able to get it. What's a rookie to do ? Is there somewhere I can go to find out how to use PSE4?

The internet is overflowing with tutorials on PSE. Just google what you want and include Photoshop Elements 4 as part of your search term, or  go to the library and they may have several different books on PSE 4. For PSE 4, you won't find a mac specific book, but that doesn't matter because the editor is the same on either program. Just substitute Command for Ctrl and Option for Alt in the keystrokes, and ignore anything about the organizer.

  • Help with clicks tag

I was ask to create an ad banner, I need help with how to track the web click on it, is it what the clicktag is for. What should I do, insert that code but where ?

    Create Clicktag AS 2.0
    1. Create animation
    2. Add new layer to very top of timeline. (must be at top) Label "clicktag" or Inv button. (It doesn't really matter what you label it)
    3. On first frame of this layer draw rectangle to cover full stage (may go beyond stage dimensions)
    4. Rectangle must have a fill color. You may delete frame around the box. (Make sure alpha slider has some fill percentage before you draw rectangle to enable fill)
    5. Convert this box to a button symbol.  Name clicktag (or button)
    6. Double click on this button or get to edit mode. Select color fill with solid arrow. Click on Properties panel/Fill color and adjust alpha to 0%.
    7. Go back to Scene. Click on first frame of clicktag layer. Select the now invisible button by surrounding with solid arrow tool.
    8. Select properties panel and click on arrow in circle to get Actions panel.
    9. Make sure Actions panel says ACTIONS-BUTTON at top of panel.
    10. Add coding from below:
    on (release) {
    getURL (_level0.clickTag, "_blank");
    11. Send swf/html files along with your target URL to publication
    Good luck

  • Alpha layer on V2 creates banding in the still image of V1

I have about seventy-five shots with a still image background and an animated object above it (on video track 2). The alpha type is set correctly (black), but for some reason the background has color banding on any spot where the V2 alpha layer exists. It's critical that we correct this distortion, so if anyone has any ideas they'd be much appreciated!
The animated layer is a combination of a Photoshop PNG and a shape created in Motion. The animation was all done in Motion as well. Unfortunately, using the still image is a background in Motion to begin with is NOT an option, but to explain why would take another four or five paragraphs (this is a complicated and long-running project!).
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the help. I will try rendering it in 10-bit.
About rendering it in Motion. . . well, that actually does not create the banding, but due to what some experts suspect is deep-seated problem with our OS X or Final Cut Studio installation, it does other things with the image which are unacceptable for our output.
Scratch that! Thanks so much! Rendering in high-precision YUV fixed our problem! (With the color banding, I mean.) We've got a nearly seven hour DVD set going out nationwide soon and you just made this one of our briefest and easiest problems to overcome.
I thought I had tried every combination of rendering but with so many variables, I guess that one slipped through.

  • FLV Video - Alpha Layer Not Working

Hi I have a strange problem. I am trying to encode a AVI
video into a FLV flash video which includes an alpha layer. These
are the steps I have taken as follows:
    1. Created animation in photoshop, saved as PNG files.
Imported files into Flash, and the alpha works great (but the size
is too large, so I switched to embedded FLV video).
    2. Took PNG files and imported then in Premiere Pro 2 and
exported the video with the 32-bit Cinepak Radius codec, with a
million colors. (I don't know if its 32-bit, as it says it no where
    in the export options).
    3. Encode the AVI with Flash CS3 Video Encoder, using On2 VP6
codec with Encode Alpha Channel enabled.
Result, either the clip is completely black or the video
doesn't have an alpha channel when imported into Flash. I am
thinking the clips that are completely black are the AVIs that had
    an alpha channel.
Below is the AVI clip, if anyone can tell me if it has an
alpha channel by encoding it to a FLV video OR can offer any help,
    thank you.
    Animation
    Clip
    Paul B.
PS. I have searched the internet for hours for related info
or similar problems, but have not encountered a solution. I have
even downloaded Sorenson Squeeze and have tried multiple
    codecs.

You set your texture environment mode to GL_REPLACE. The implementation of this feature is to replace the primary color (set via ColorPointer or Color3f) with the sampled texture value, so your color will have no effect.
Replace the texture env mode with GL_MODULATE, which will multiply the Texture Unit Input Color (==PrimaryColor for Texture Unit 1) with the sampled texture value.

  • Use movie with integrated alpha as mask

    Hi!
I don´t know what is the problem... but i have a movie with an integrated alpha layer and i want to use it as a mask to cut out something in the layer under it.
For this I use blend mode "silhouette alpha".
It´s possible to stencil the layer under it, but the stenciled area is always black, but it should become transparent.
    Please help me
    cheers flo

    Heya Flo,
You'll have an easier time and more control if you use an Image Mask. Select the object you want to mask and then go to Object->Add Image Mask to apply it. Then you just drag-and-drop any other object into the mask (in the Layers List or the Inspector), and you're good to go.
By default, it uses the alpha of the reference object, but it can use any channel. You also have control over positioning and scaling, which is something that a blend mode can't do.
    Good luck with your project!

  • Help with implementing two different programs

I need help with a couple of Java programs that I downloaded. I hope someone can help me. The code you post is javascript, NOT java ! ... but either way, maybe the scripts have variables in conflict, so if you pack each piece of code in diferent functions and then you call the functions it may work.
