Helpful Tutorial Website

Hello Folks,
I am getting my hands on DVD Studio Pro as a novice lately,
and I was wondering if there's any tutorial website for this particualr software for free of charge.
I am pretty good at iDVD due to its easyness but studio pro requires more knowledge and detail oriented.
your suggestion would be a lot of help.
Thanks in advance ^_^

  • Proposition: a new video workflow tutorial website

    A few weeks ago, I was helping a buddy of mine--who happens to be a recent convert from FCP, thanks to me--get a better handle on a few things in Premiere Pro that he was struggling with in his transition. I'd also offered up a few bits of collected advice about good third-party apps to use, and a few places to find information about this or that. After about twenty minutes of describing a number of things to him in great detail, he stopped me and said, "Why don't you just make a website for all this?"
    Funnily enough, I'd been thinking the same thing. A little prior to this, I'd gotten a small job to do in After Effects--at least, I thought it was going to be small. It involved replacing the screen of a laptop--no problem for the Tracker in AE, right? Wrong. This was a nightmare--reflections from the glossy bezel, the screen on the laptop went black (that's why it had to be replaced) there were numerous obstractions between the camera and the screen, it was handheld, and I was working off a compressed H.264 file. It was the perfect storm. Fortunately, I knew that I had a pretty cool new tool at my disposal--mochaAE. Problem was, I had never used mocha before; I'd opened up the application, looked at it in fear, and quickly closed it down before it bit me. But I would not be deterred...
    Now, I'm usually pretty good about just sitting down with an application, banging away at it awhile, and then figuring it out. Sometimes, I get pretty proficient--I'm self-taught on Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Avid, Final Cut Pro, Edius, and who knows what else. This mocha thing, though--man, that sucker just sat there and taunted me. I took it as a personal challenge to not only complete the job, but to come out the other side (relatively unscathed) with a decent grasp of the program.
    The help file was really not that helpful, so I turned to the interwebs for some video tutorials. About 6 hours later after watching tutorials that covered the most minute details with painful precision, but ultimately told me nothing, and other tutorials that demonstrated uses of mochaAE for such things as creating "realistic flesh wounds in cybernetic arms," I was throughly disgusted but felt I could finally wade in and give it a crack.
    To cut to the chase--it was an ugly, drawn-out battle. It's really not clear who the victor was, but when the dust cleared, I'd finally tracked and replaced the screen on this ten-second shot, and it was actually pretty good. Of course, it had cost me about 12 hours of my life. I would have loved to have found a tutorial that actually demonstrated a situation similar to the one I was working on, or at least offered some useful advice about what to do or not to do. Most of what I had viewed was simply not practical for my uses of such a piece of software.
    This was incredibly frustrating to me. I have no issue with working toward a goal and earning it, but this was madness. Like many folks here, I'm running a small business, comprised mainly of myself and the voices in my head, and time spent on one thing is time and money lost elsewhere.
    Now, the forums here are a great place--probably one of the friendlier haunts around the web that deals with video productions tools and techniques--but it's geared toward the "this is broke how do I fix it" mode. At times, there is a rather closed-minded, even antagonistic attitude toward folks looking for certain kinds of information. This grates me more than a bit, because everyone has the right to ask the questions they want to ask, without worry of condescension or ridicule. Maybe it's the pacifist in me, or the fact that I come from a family of educators, but I've decided I want to try to help.
    With that in mind, I'm thinking about starting a video and text tutorial website that focuses on the practical applications of some of the video production software that many of use--both payware and freeware. I want to develop the kind of tutorials that are less about how to create a certain look or effect, and more about how to save money, brains and time, by giving an example of a realistic working situation and some various ways to handle it. I don't think it's enough to just tell someone what works, but you need to explain how something works, and why it works--that's the essence of education. If you can give someone the a better understanding of how a certain tool can be applied, he is much more likely to be able to apply it creatively in various ways for his own benefit.
    I've got a number of ideas that I've been cooking for some time, and I think they'd make for useful tutorials, but my question is this: is there actually interest in this kind of material? I'm talking about stuff that is less about glitz and more about crawling through the trenches to get your job done--I know I've conversed with several people here who often find themselves in situations like mine, and can understand this ethic.
    This wouldn't be all about Premiere Pro, or even just about Adobe applications; yes, it would be a great deal about that, since those are my primary "paid" tools, but there are a lot of great freeware applications out there that often perform as well or better than the paid applications, and can often do things those paid applications can't even imagine. However, these things usually aren't push-button-flip-switch kind of applications, and involve a greater level of understanding to get something done.
    I remember that when I first started using Premiere Pro 2, I searched out some tutorials--the ones that I liked the best and found the most useful were done by our very own Jeff Bellune. I think it was Jeff's frameserver tutorial that made me realize I was going to be playing in the right sandbox In any event, Jeff has a great way of communicating really useful information about topics that might seem a bit blase at first, but ultimately form the core of some pretty awesome workflows in Premiere and beyond.
    So... talk me into this or talk me out of this... whatever. I'm really interested in hearing people's thoughts about this--ideally, this would be a type of site that would allow the community-at-large to communicate about things that work and don't work, hopefully making everyone's job and life a little easier. The Wikia was a pretty good source of information, but that has languished, and frankly, I don't think the format ever worked that well. This would be the next evolutionary step...
    Thanks for taking the time to read and consider this; I appreciate any thoughts.

    Thanks, Todd--I appreciate your support and willingness to assist. It would be great having an official recognition from the Big A The posts you put on the PPro blog are the kind of information I'd like to be able to arm people with; I think that sort of detail helps folks gain a better understanding of the "why" behind the "what," which further empowers them to effectively use the tools in other situations.
    Chuck: thanks for the feedback. I need to tread carefully into areas regarding hardware, because frankly, I'm more of a software guy. Yes, I built my own system, and I've built a couple more in recent months, but I wouldn't be able to go so far as to be able to make recommendations on what to get--that's the domain of other people here. That is certainly legitimate information, though, and I think having a component that is based on visitor submissions about "this works, that doesn't" is a great idea--think of it as a distributed review and vetting system.
    Truth be told, though, part of the reason I want to do this is often the answer to questions posed here is simply, "get a new/faster/better system." While that often is legitimate advice, there are plenty of scenarios where the underlying problem is not hardware, but some sort of operational issue. I don't know about you, but I'm certainly in no position to upgrade or change out my hardware every time I encounter a problem--I think most people in small businesses want and need to do more with less. That's a big part of my motivation to create this resource.
    Ultimately, there are three audiences I want to address:
    New users of Premiere Pro and related Adobe products; since those are my bread-and-butter, I think I've got a pretty good handle on basic operation to achieve common tasks
    Intermediate users of Premiere Pro and related Adobe products who have encountered some sort of error, problem, or other roadblock; how do you work with, work around, or fix those issues
    Seasoned users of Premiere Pro, related Adobe products, or any of the multitude of other video production tools who want to discover ways to achieve a certain effect, process, or workflow
    I think there are numerous resources for the first category; you can find some decent tutorial videos on Adobe's site as well as other locations that cover this. However--and not to discount the merit of these tutorials and resources--I find that many times these fall into the category of what I'd call "sales-torials." They're designed to show how to use a certain feature in some fabricated (and usually, unrealistic) scenario. What I want to do is take real scenarios, and show how to use the features available to work in or solves those scenarios.
    For the second category: that's where the forum usually comes in. Someone encounters a problem, and this is often a place they find when searching the web. Sometimes they find help here, and sometimes not. Obviously there is a wealth of information and a broad base of experience here, but it isn't codified in anyway, so a questioner is at the mercy of good searching skills (or luck) or posting on the forum at the right time. As you mentioned, Chuck, we see many of the same sorts of questions being asked again and again. I don't mean to discount the forum as a place to answer those questions or solve those sorts of problems, but I know how frustrating it can be when all you want to do is get back to work. Obviously, there is no way to address every possible problem or issue that can occur, but if a database of common or not-so-common problems can slowly be built, I think this would be an excellent resource for the community.
    For the third category: well, there isn't anything like this, that I've found. Ultimately, this is what I'm most interested in creating. I've spent countless hours trying to find information on the Internet about how to do this or that, but there seems to be no solid resource for kind of information I want. Sure, there are lots of sites for "filmmakers," but I'm not a filmmaker. I'm a guy trying to run a small business, minimizing my time involved and maximizing my profits. I think there are lots of people in the same boat; you rarely hear from them because they're so damn busy trying to keep above water. I want to help give these folks a tool bench, a laboratory, a coffee klatch they can turn to when they are at their wits' end (or preferably, before ). I know that a lot of us have developed our own workflows and solutions; since I'm kind of a community-minded guy (particularly because I live and work in the middle of nowhere), I feel compelled to share what I've learned with the community-at-large. My hope would be that others would feel the same, and we can collectively create a resource that benefits everyone.
    OK, with that said, it's time to work

  • Creating a purchase order form that has a flowable layout" Help Tutorial

    Regarding the "Creating a purchase order form that has a flowable layout" Help Tutorial,  I can't seem to get the data to pull in for just the PO in question, is there a secret?
    Ideally, it should create one form for each PO with the detail lines for each PO on the individual forms.  Can we do this?
    Many thanks!

    Hi
    If the smartform purchase order is not available in your system
    means you can download the form IDES and you can upload the form in ur ecc 6.0 system.we faced a similar kind of problem in our system and we did as i said.
    Once you uploaded the things you can easily view the form interface and rest of the things related to smartforms.
    Thanks and Regards

  • Newbie - help with website that i didn't build?

    Hi,
    My Mother had a website built for her. Things have changed and the site now needs editing. I have gallantly offered to help but am finding it tougher than i thought it would be.  I have the FTP login and the host login - although I'm not really sure what the difference is as I can access the files through dreamweaver CS5 with both. Are the host login and the FTP login the same?
    I'm using filezilla (or trying to) as the FTP. Now, I think that I have to download all the FTP files onto my computer - but I'm not entirely sure how to do this and then open it up with dreamweaver.
    I really need someone to walk me through how to get files from filezilla after I've connected to the host site to open up with dreamweaver and start updating and editing the site.
    also I see that the person that originally built the site has used a CSS folder for the 'styles'. He tells me all the colours and everything are in this file. But when I open it up in Dreamweaver I can only see the HTML coding side and not the design side. How do I go about changing colours?
    If you can help explain to me that would be great.
    Many thanks (in advance)

    More than likely from your description one logs you into your web based control panel and could potentially login to billing while the other information (FTP) is the one you need for Dreamweaver.
    I'm using filezilla (or trying to) as the FTP. Now, I think that I have

    Dreamweaver's FTP should be more than sufficient for you.  Just create a new site (Sites->Manage->New) and it will ask for your FTP information along the way.  It will also ask for a local folder which could be empty in your case or might not even exist.  So point it where you want to work on the site and go from there.  If you have questions about FTP information here, you would be best to ask your web hosting provider over user-to-user forums like this because they have the information you need.

    If you follow the instructions for setting up a site in Dreamweaver then you just transfer the files from the Remote to the Local using the Get button and then you can Put the files back on the server in the same place using Dreamweaver.
    also I see that the person that originally built the site has used a CSS

    Your designer is correct.  The colors and all styles are defined in a CSS document.  You will see the colors defined with their Hex value (could be RGB, but I doubt it), and you will also see bold, underline and other styles defined in this document.  Website Design is all about coding.  If this does not interest you I recommend finding an outside third party to do the work for you.  All the styles are defined in code and that is translated back to the HTML in the form of classes and IDs.  Here is a basic tutorial going over CSS: http://www.w3schools.com/CSS/ .

  • Help with website display

    Can someone tell me why my website, container made to 1024 width, has about 1/2 an inch missing from display that you have to sideways scroll to, on monitors set to 1024? How can I fix without redoing the whole website.
    Thank you so much in advance!
    Maggie

    Hi Maggie,
    Unfortunately  we on the BrowserLab team don't have the bandwidth to help dig into and  solve the HTML/CSS issues that our users find, but I hope  others in the community can help you out. As a suggestion, you might try  posting your question in the Dreamweaver forum ( http://forums.adobe.com/community/dreamweaver/dreamweaver_general ) or other forums here or elsewhere online as well. Also, if your page is public, post the URL so others can look at the code directly.
    Best of luck,

  • Newbie Needs Help With Website

    I am new to Dreamweaver and am undertaking the task of building my church website. I have placed the images in tables on and centered. I have also set the table width to 60% so that it will display properly in different resolutions. However the links I have created on the left move over the images when the screen size is reduced. My question is what do I need to do with the links to keep them locked in place when the screen size is reduced.
    Any help is greatly appreciated. Below is the code that is used for the links

    I can't see any tables being used on the entry page.. all you are using is absolutely positioned divs. Not sure why you are using AP divs, are you?
    Unless you understand how these work, you will be in a lot of bother, one of them being the exact problem you mention.... read this article before doing anything else:
    http://apptools.com/examples/pagelayout101.php
    That layout can be quite easily achieved by a beginner using a table layout - one for header, a nested table layout for the left and right columns and then another for the footer area.
    Also a simple css layout would work, but you'd again need to understand css positioning.
    The page took a heck of a long time to load and its because all you've used is images....  type your url into the box at this site and you'll see that the image sizes are just too big, causing the slow load times.
    http://analyze.websiteoptimization.com/wso
    Had a look at one of the inner pages (history) and again you are using an image for the text area - why would you do that...
    Firstly, it would cause a speed issue and more importantly would cause you problems if you wanted the page spidered by the search engines... no text on a page and the SEs won't find you.
    Sorry to say this, but I'd start over, but before you do, please read up on how to create a page (using either tables or css) that isn't as fragile as the one you have and that will be consistent across different browsers.
    Here are some links to help you get started:
    http://www.w3schools.com/
    http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/dreamweaver/css.html
    http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/tableless_layout_dw8.html
    http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/css_concepts.html
    The last one on the list may suit you to start with, as it takes a FWs comp and shows you how to build the site in Dreamweaver.

  • Help with website in Hindi

    I am creting a (DW CS5) website in the hindi language. Copy was provided as translated Word docs (in Mangal font) from customer which I have been copying/pasting into my DW pages. I have the encoding set to UTF-8, and the page previews fine/as it should, UNTIL I get it on the server which then shows only black question mark boxes. I have tried testing it on diferent servers, have also tried numerous encoding and charset combinations to no avail. (browser encoding shows UTF-8) I've tried with and without CSS. Other hindi websites view fine.
    I am creating the files on an Intel Mac 10.6, test viewing in safari and firefox (boxes with question marks also show in Windows). After countless searches for a solution, I am at my wits end. Most help blogs merely say to encode as UTF-8, which I already have. Can ayone out there PLEASE help and tell me what I am missing/doing wrong? Below is a snippet showing headers and a few lines of sample text...

    G'day Hans-G,
    When I copy the text from your online sample page and paste it into DW when in design view, then preview the result in a browser, the characters show as they do on your sample page.
    I do have charset="utf-8" and it would seem (something I did not know until someone on this forum pointed this out) that escape characters are not required

  • Problem with dreamweaver8 help tutorial section

    i was going through the tutorial section of macromedia
    dreamweaver8. i installed coldfusion mx7 to my comp exactly the way
    it was shown. i was doing the same procedure as it was shown in
    tutorial developing a web application (in the section getting
    started with dreamweaver). i did exactly as it was shown in the
    tutorial , but while testing recordset i m getting a long list of
    errors as follows.
    -1:[macromedia][sequelink JDBC driver][ODBC
    socket][microsoft][ODBC microsoft access driver] syntax error in
    FROM clause.
    {and there is a long list of errors showing}
    please help

    Check that you are not trying to check a field called
    "Password". It is now
    a reserved word and will throw syntex errors.

  • Help with website layout

    Hi, I need help with Dreamweaver CS4. I don't know HTML which
    is why I am using this program. I am using the AP Div (Not the
    Insert Div Tag) Icon at the top in the Standard Layout tab accessed
    by the icon at the top of the panel in the classic layout mode.
    Here is my problem. I am trying to make sure the text and
    spacing is the same as much as possible from browser to browser.
    The spacing between the lines (leading) is different. Sometimes the
    text jumps out of the box or text lines get cut off and looks
    jumbled. My pages are layed out with a bunch of AP divs so I can
    place them wherever I want. For example I draw one AP div (which
    has the square box in at the left top) and then another one below.
    Even though they are not touching, the browser displays them
    overlapping with the text clashing. Or sometimes text just runs
    wild. I've tried to use tables but they are too limiting and I am
    not being able to place them freely. Is that because browsers do
    not recognize CSS? How do I get at least a decent consistency
    between browsers? What am I doing wrong?

    As well as the links below - another way to learn (including
    anyone else's bad habits) is to find a page you like, and then tell
    your web browser to show you the code view for the page and/or do a
    "Save As" and save the page to your computer to then copy &
    paste code segments into your file (in IE click View at the top,
    select Source from the options)

  • Flash help tutorial problem

    I'm just getting started with Flash and thought I'd work
    through the tutorials included in the programs help. The tutorial
    I'm stuck on is called: Creating Graphics - Applying Gradients. The
    section I'm stuck on is Create a transform gradient with a shape.
    I'm having problems applying the radial gradient—either
    it doesn't work at all or applies to the fill but not the stoke.
    This leads me to the question of what stroke and fill settings I
    should have set up—after all I don't really want a stroke! Is
    this oval shape drawn with object drawing turn't on or something?
    I've looked at the completed .fla file and this shadow oval
    shape seems to be a group. Has the person who created it grouped
    the stoke and the fill or what? Which ever way the shape is
    created, it doesn't say anything in the tutorial about how it
    should be selected to apply the radial gradient! Surely it needs to
    be selected somehow? Because when I try to apply the radial
    gradient nothing happens!
    Please can somebody help me figure this out—it's really
    bugging me!

    rename your gallery to something other than galleryinprogress.swf, say gallery.swf.
    in flash create a new fla named galleryinprogress.fla with the same stage size and background color as your previous galleryinprogress.swf and attached to frame one of your new galleryinprogress.fla add:
    var tf:TextField = this.createTextField("tf",1,0,0,100,40);
    tf.autoSize = "center";
    tf._x = Stage.width/2;
    tf._y = Stage.height/2;
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("mc",1);
    mc.loadMovie("http://homepage.mac.com/nakean/.Public/swf/gallery.swf");
    preloadI=setInterval(preloadF,100);
    function preloadF(){
    tf.text=mc.getBytesLoaded() +" bytes loaded out of "+mc.getBytesTotal()+" bytes total.";
    if(mc.getBytesLoaded()>0&&mc.getBytesLoaded()>=mc.getBytesTotal()){
    clearInterval(preloadI);
    tf.removeTextField();
    publish your new galleryinprogress.swf and upload to the same directory as your previous (but now renamed) galleryinprogress.swf.

  • Help with website

    Guys
    Am sorry if i posted my following request in the wrong place.
    I am doing a website as a part of my project. It is supposed to showcase my dissertation. I was wondering if some one could tell me how to replicate the apple table which displays "store, mac etc etc above".
    Can some body post the table format or something !
    thx

    I think hunter is just interested in how to do an image flip roll-over above an image map.
    Here is the nuts and bolts:
    http://www.htmlgoodies.com/tutorials/image_maps/article.php/3479771
    But unless you are pretty handy with code you would be better off using a web creation tool such as Dreamweaver. With that you get some nifty easy to use tools where mere mortals can succeed in building what you are looking to do.
    Hope this helps you.
    Best of luck on your presentation.

  • SAP Help Tutorial - Create a Hashtable ??

    I'm new so this will be simple - I think
    I'm attempting to follow the tutorial on SAP HELP located at:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/44/47b87e9d780597e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
    I got threw tutorial 1 with no problem...
    When I get to the "Writing Code" section of Tutorial II, writing the mySiteMap.java code, I assume I'm suppose to use the code as written in the tutorial... however my IDE (NWDS) gives me :
    Syntax error on token "Hashtable", "interface", "class" expected
    on this block of code, (which I copied from the tutorial):
    *CODE*
    public Hashtable getEnvironment(IPortalComponentRequest request ) {
         Hashtable environment = new Hashtable();
         IUserContext userContext = request.getUser();
         if (userContext != null) {
           environment.put("NavigationPrincipal", userContext);
           String user = userContext.getUniqueName();
           if (user != null && !user.equals("")) {
              environment.put("User", user);
         return environment;
    *END CODE*
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Put the "code" into a class and make sure there is an import statement for Hashtable.
    For instance,
    package myPackage;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    public class MyClass
    public Hashtable getEnvironment(IPortalComponentRequest request ) {
    Hashtable environment = new Hashtable();
    IUserContext userContext = request.getUser();
    if (userContext != null) {
    environment.put("NavigationPrincipal", userContext);
    String user = userContext.getUniqueName();
    if (user != null && !user.equals("")) {
    environment.put("User", user);
    return environment;

  • Need Help for website

    hello
    I had to reinstall I Web in my powerbook. So all my folders with my website disappeared.
    I had a back up of my website folder and I want to import this folder in I Web application I've just reinstalled.
    How can I do it ?
    Thanks for your help
    FG

    All your iWeb work is saved in a file called "domain"
    You may not have lost this file when you reinstalled iWeb.
    By default it is located in your user/library/application support/iweb folder.
    This is separate from the iWeb application folder.
    Do a spotlight search for "domain"
    You may find more than one. (the newly installed iWeb may have created a new one)
    Navigate to each "domain" file you find and double click its icon to start iWeb.
    You may find your work. iWeb by default opens the last edited domain file but if you've reinstalled iweb it may open a blank domain file. If that happens quit iWeb and look for another "domain" file (using a spotlight search) on your hard drive and double click its icon. Repeat this process until you've tried to open all the "domain" files you can find.
    iWeb cannot edit published pages, only the data in the "domain" file.
    Good luck, David Phelps http://web.mac.com/phelpssculpture/iWeb/

  • Help for website?

    Dear adobe readers!
    This week we launched a new ecommerce shop. And we want to have the design as good as possible. So for you guys the question if you can take a look at the design of the shop and give me advice about making it better and just let me know what you thinks. Everything is welcome. Handrik-Jan,
    Did you know that there are some jQuery templates for mobile (smart phone) that are available at Adobe Dreamweaver Developer Connection articles?
    Have a look at:
    Advanced design template for jQuery Mobile
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw-template-jquery-mobile.html
    jQuery Mobile website
    http://jquerymobile.com
    And, ThemeRoller at jQuery Mobile
    http://jquerymobile.com/themeroller/
    Additionally, there are other similar topics related to jQuery how-to can be found in Dreamweaver articles.
    AND, you also want to look into Fluid Grid Layout articles as it can be found in Dreamweaver Developer Center as well.
    And you can also learn more about jQuery mobile and Fluid Grid Layout through Adobe TV on whole range of Dreamweaver, as it provide many good TV video online available. You are encouraged to have a couple of look at these videos at Adobe TV - Learn Dreamweaver.

    One other important note, by knowing HTML and CSS inside out, it will be very helpful knowing these code, you'll find it easier to work with Dreamweaver, or any other HTML editor to your preference.
