I've copied my itunes library onto an external hard drive. Is there any way I can do this and delete songs from my PC without also deleting from the external drive? Already lost two songs!!! I just want a back up - using a work PC and don't want others accessing my songs. Hope someone can help. Thanks!
I see. To get a better idea of what is being stored where please download and run the script iTunesInfo which should output something like this:
I'm interested in the block of 4 results starting ITL location. If your profile name shows up somewhere replace it with <Name>. It is also worth checking under Edit > Preferences > Advanced to see where iTunes thinks your media is supposed to go. My script estimates the setting based on the location of the first media file it can actually find.

I am setting up a new Time Capsule to replace another hard drive. Is there any way to include the the Time Machine history from the old drive on the new Time Capsule?
Check item #18 of Time Machine FAQ, particularly the material in #3 of the "How to" section.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject. In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that. -

Due to a hard drive crash I lost my entire Itunes library. Majority of this was from an extensive CD library that I imported into itunes. When I reloaded itunes and viewed my library I only found the titles purchased from itunes. How do I get music off of an itune classic & itune nano ipods and put back into the library so I don't have to re import my extensive cd collection
If you purchased all of the songs through itunes store, please follow these steps:
1. Open up Itunes and Click on Itunes Store
2. Once you're in the Itunes Store look to right side of the screen and you should see the word "purchased". Click purchased and you'll be sent to a purchase screen.
3. Click on "All Songs" and then it will show all the songs you've downloaded. From there you just hit the button that looks like a cloud with an arrow on it, and it will download all the songs all over again.
If you didn't purchase them through Itunes, then you'll have to download software that will strip the songs from your iPod. And here is a guide about how to transfer ipod songs back to computer. Feel free to email me if you need further help. -
Is there any way to import from ipod back to itunes??
I have a problem... my hardrive over heated last week, and I lost EVERYTHING. I have to start completely over, and just redownloaded itunes to my fixed computer. luckily, I had a good amount of my music saved on my ipod. however, is there any way to import the other way around, and move music from my ipod back onto my computers and itunes??? i cant stand having an empty library!
-brianaBit of a pain but possible:
1) My documents, tools, folder options, show hidden files
2) open itunes
3) edit, preferences
The most important bit coming up:
4) LEAVE PREFERENCES OPEN THROUGHOUT WHOLE PROCESS, OTHERWISE IPOD WILL BE WIPED.
5) plug in ipod
6) open my computer
7) ipod should be in devices with removable storage
8) into ipod
9) into ipod control
10) into music
11) select all
12) copy
13) into my documents
14) into my music
15) into itunes (folder)
16) into itunes music (folder)
17) paste
when the paste has finished:
18) use remove ipod icon on toolbar to get ipod disconnected safely
19) into itunes program
20) close preferences
21) file, add folder to library
22) find your way back to itunes music folder
and there it all is. Go back to hiding hidden folders in tools, folder options when done, or they can get in the way (or deleted by mistake!)
no idea how to do any of this on a mac, i'm a PC user!
take it easy,

I can get the itunes purchased music back but the rest of my music (ripped from my CD's) i cannot transfer from my ipod back to my computer, do i really have to re rip them all? some I no longer have
@roaminggnome I do not appreciate you're condescending attitude, if you cant offer anything constructive, shut the **** up. Maybe i couldn't afford a back-up drive at the time. no-one expects their main drive to fail, I was saving up for it when it happened so take you're patronising smug attitude and you're 20/20 hindsight somewhere else.
Thanks turingtest2 i got irip and recovered most of my files. -
If my hard drive fails, is there any way to get the OS with out having to download it?
My old white macbook gave up the ghost and my hd just went out. I was wondering if there was a way to get a disk for OSX 10.7.5. Also if Apple has some sort of program where I won't have to pay for it as it is a hardware failure that got me into this mess.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
In the past, Apple sold OS X Lion on a USB drive, but now it's no more available. The only option to get OS X Lion is to download it from Apple pressing Command and R keys while your Mac is starting.
However, as you have a MacBook, the Mac should came with DVDs to reinstall Mac OS X, so use them -
please help!!
The same way the photos were transferred from your computer, via the iTunes sync process.
Deselect sync photos under the photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by sink to remove all. -
My hard drive crashed. Is there any way to get my songs onto my new computer without re-loading all of the CDs. I did not make any purchases through the itunes store. Have never used icloud. The songs are on my ipod.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

After syncing my iphone to my itunes on my pc, all the music on my phone is gone. I don't have a backup. Is there any way I can get them back?
If you had no other backup....NOPE! However, if you purchased your songs from iTunes, check out: iTunes Store - Finding Lost Music FAQ

i connected my iphone to the computer to charge it and itunes backed it up with an old version of my ipod so I lost all my photographs. Is there any way I can get them back?
Seems that you can no longer hide them on your phone. Try doing so in iTunes: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919.

hi, i had recently formatted my iphone with no itunes backup. i restored my data with icloud but all the pics didn'y come back. now when i tried to restore again, icloud deleted all my pics from the server too!! is there any way i can get them back??
Back from where?
You choose to not copy them off to a computer as they are designed to be.
If they are no longer showing in iCloud, they are gone. -
I was syncing everything to itunes and I tried to do my contacts, not knowing quite how. I ended up erasing all of them from my phone without any of them syncing to my computer or itunes. Is there any way I can get them back? I really need them all.
There are lots of ideas floating on the web for this particular issue - all of which I tried. I had the same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. I thought the cable was fine as it would charge my phone and play but the data transfer pin was bent. I replaced the cable and it fixed the problem. Worth a shot as it is an easy fix!
