hi gurus scripts are clint dependent & smart forms are clint indipendent what is the meaning that

SAPscript are client dependent.
They need to be copied from one client to another for testing. this can be done from SE71->utilities->copy from Client.
For transferring between server as like other objects they need to be transport.
As for smartforms they are client independent and all changes are available at the same time in all clients for execution.
Unlike smartforms, if you want to use or modify a sapscript in a different client you need to copy it from that client or client '000'.
This is applicable to it accessory components like graphics, texts..etc
NOTE:
When u execute a smartform it generates the Function Module, which allows u acces the smartform in any cleint

Where are You developed the smartform in development client , you can find the same in testing client even though the server is same.
Few more reasons why....? Please read below:
SAPscript technology is based on a mainframe product from the 1980s,
while Smart Forms have only been around since (roughly) 2001. With that sort of time gap,
there are bound to be significant differences between the two tools. As you have noted correctly, client dependence is a fundamental one.
Although SAPscript has had some incremental improvements over time,
its forms have always been -- under the hood -- relatively passive objects, with minimal embedded logic.
These forms were designed to be driven and controlled by ABAP programs,
much in the way ABAP programs read in database tables to produce reports;
if you ever download a SAPscript form (e.g., via utility program RSTXSCRP),
and look at the portable text file it produces you'll see what I mean.
Many text objects (e.g., invoice header texts) are bound directly to documents which are client-dependent, so it makes sense for these text objects to also be client-dependent. From a complexity standpoint, SAPscript forms are close enough to these text objects where I can see how it made sense at the time to make them client-dependent too.
Conversely, a Smart Form is significantly more robust and complex. For instance, it can contain program nodes and nested tables with patterns. When a Smart Form is compiled, it generates an ABAP function module and these are always client-independent. This is appropriate, given that this form has more in common with an ABAP program than its predecessor. For instance, when a print program calls a Smart Form, the form itself takes over to produce output, without any further direction from the print program. In fact, the join is so seamless that I often find myself using a Smart Form's Initialization section for logic to handle any data gathering not handled by the print program. I would never even think to attempt this with SAPscript.
Several factors figured into SAP's decision to make Smart Forms client-independent, including customer feedback. There are significant advantages to client-independence. For instance, a change made in one development client happens immediately across all development clients. Among other things, this means we don't have to waste time figuring which client contains the most recent version -- they all do! In addition, transporting Smart Forms is easier, since we can safely bundle them together in the same transport as their client-independent print programs (no worry about mixing client-dependent and independent objects).

For SAP scripts u need to create them in SE72 ...
and u can include them in the script editor as..

P1 text............... (*** P1 is the Paragraph format created in SE72 )

For smartforms u need to go for the transaction (tcode) SMARTSTYLES... here u can create paragraph and character formats globally...

Dynamically call different pages in smart forms

Hello Abap Gurus:
I am creating a smart form for cobra letters, in which i need to display one letter for hourly employees, and other for salaried employees.
For example in my variant if i have two employees one salried and other hourly then my cobra letters should print different letters for salried and hourly employees.
Any suggestions are helpful.

Hi,
I am assuming that before coming to the Smartform you know the Status of the Employee. May be you can get the status from the Smartform Interface Parameters or else set the Variable (Used for comtroling the page printing) in the Driver Program and Import that variable to the Smartform.
Now once 4 letters are printed after the 4th Letter Create a New Page Command and Check the New Page Check and give Page as "5th Letter Page Name" and Under the Condition Tab give your Variable Name with the Set Value.
Similarly follow the same process for 6th Letter.
I suggest to set the Variables Values in Driver Program and IMport this Variable to the Smartform unsing the Form Interface.
Under the Condition Tab V_GROSS_HRLY(Say Identifier) NE ' '. This is will take of Printing the New Pages. I think this logic should work.

Is a smart form available for F.64 transaction

Hi Gurus,
I need a standard smart form that is available for F.64 (Maintain Correspondance requeststransaction).
My requirement is to print credit and debit memo using this transaction. But I found that this transaction calls a standrad driver program RFKORD50 which inturn calls a SAP script F140_INT_DOCU_01.
What I need to know is there any standard SMART FORM that is available for this transaction.
Answers will definitely be rewarded.

Hi,
In the program RFKORD50, above the OPEN_FORM function module, there is a BTE and a EXit also.
Implement the Exit and call the function module relating to the smartform. Call the function module in the exit and from the transaction OB96 remove the form attached to the program RFKORD50.

just adobe form did some heard about this note,

nobody nows exactly.
AFAIK Sapscript is not supported any longer - because it's running stable also in unicode environment.
SMARTFORMS is a development based on SAPscript techniques integrating the form and print program into one function module. A completely new interavtice development environment was created.
This development is not really complete but quite useful as it integrated features like (i.e.) HTML or PDF output.
SAP entered a strategic cooperation with Adobe some years ago. The goal is to develop a forms solution ready for the future - with full integration of interactive, web and workflow features.
I haven't heard too much about the results. To me it looks like both sides still need time to integrate.
My estimates of used techniques in productive systems is 80 % SAPScript, 20% Smartforms and a neglegible but small existing number of Adobe solution.
But this is a personal estimate that may be wrong.
The note you mentioned might be a SAP internal one. If you look at the number of notes for the subject 'Adobe document service' you will come to the conclusion that this is anything but stable.

How to Download Smart Form in 4.6C.

Hi all,
I am using the version 4.6C.
Is there any standrd program like in SAP SCRIPTS to download the smart form layout to desktop later can upload to SAP.
In 4.7 have a option to downloadand upload but how to do it in 4.6C?
Any Ideas from your side? please let me know

How to find which Smart-Form and and methods/program being used for Purchase Order print output in SRM ?
In ECC we have tcode NACE where we can check all the details.Is there something similar in SRM ?

There is no similar transaction in SRM for your purpose. Usually if the customers customize the smartforms, they would choose to use their own form by implementing BADI BBP_OUTPUT_CHANGE_SF. Take a look into your system and see if this BADI is implemented. If so, debug it (by pressing "Print Preview" for a PO for example) and find out what form it is using. Or, if the BADI is not implemented, by default, the system uses form BBP_PO.

SAPscript are CLient Dependent, SmartForms are Client Independent. The reason why SmartForms are client independent is because when you activate a SMartForm, SAP actually generates a Function Module (which as you know is client independent). The Print Program (or as SAP likes to refer to them these days - Application Program) calls your generated FM.
In the "smartforms" transaction, when you are viewing a smartform, you can go to the Environment->Function Module Name menu path to see the FM name.
Look at the "Application Program" for the Invoice SmartForm (RLB_INVOICE):

i) The main difference is that SAP script is client-dependant, while smartform is independent. Also there are some advanced and intreractive features available in smartforms.

I Have one doubt.. about the Smart Forms are Client Independent.
Client Independent Means Smart Forms are generated function modules.
For example I am generated function module in client 100, can i use this same function module in client 200??
and also can i move the Samrtform from client 100 to client 200??
OR Independent means it is depending Sytem LAND SACPE??
I am confuse. Please any one clarify what EXACTLY MEAN by Smart Forms are Client Independent..

HI Vijay,
Your Reports are client independent, this means, if you create a report in one client 100 of a dev system, then you can see this report in client 200 of the same dev system.
But SAPscripts are client dependent , this means if you create a script in client 100 you cannot see it in 200 unless you import it using SCC1.
Similarly Smartforms are client independent means you dont have to import it into different clients, it will be available to all the clients once you create in one client 100, like the reports.

Upto 99 main windows are possible in scripts and only one in smarforms.
To create multiple main windows in scripts, you just have to give the window type as MAIN whnever you create a window.

How to limit the number of rows in a smart form , sap script.

Can anyone tell me how to limit the number of rows in the output of a sap script/smart form. I have tried "protect/endprotect" in sap script but have no idea of how to do in smart form. In sap script the only way it has happened is by reducing the size of the main window.

In Smartform also, why dont you try reducing the size of the window if you want to limit the rows in it. Also if you are printing Line Items in a LOOP, you can write
LOOP AT T_ITAB FROM 1 TO N in the LOOP Node if you know how many records exactly you want to display in 1 Page processing.
