Where did you buy the iPhone? What does it say
when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
Ask the seller what wireless carrier the iPhone is
locked to.

ThankssThank you for responding to my question so promptly! My Apple ID for my iCloud account on my MacBook is the correct (i.e. my @mac.com) email address. Do I need to sign out and then sign back in after I have changed/updated my details on my iPad?
When I look at the 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars' details on my iPad under the heading 'Accounts' it first shows my @me.com account and the items under that account are 'Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, Notes, Find My iPad' - when I expand the account details it shows that my iCloud Account is actually my @mac.com email adddress.
The second entry is iCloud which is currently my @gmail.com account. Under this account are 'Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks, Reminders, PhotoStream, Documents & Data, Backup.
The third account is headed Gmail and is, indeed, my @gmail.com account, too. Under this account it shows 'Mail, Calendars, Notes'.
Am I correct in suspecting that the reason for my having multiple occurrences of both events in Calendars and people in Contacts is because more than one account is syncing Contacts and Calendars?

When I tried to sync my 4G iphone factory unlocked to iTunes I got this message "An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to download it now?" Should I hit "Download and Update"? or "Learn More" ?
I have a factory unlocked iPhone 3GS (eg: purchased from Apple). I received the same message at some point and eventually (after reading a bit more) accepted "Download and Update". No problem. No apparent bad effects. It just seems to update things specific to the carrier (Bell Mobility in my case).

The company is asking for a bill to ensure the account has been payed off / qualifies for unlocking. The company will also need the information to log any requests.
Solution:
Get in contact with the origional owner of the phone and have them contact the previous carrier to get it unlocked. -
So i got a new computer and before i did i backed up al my music onto an external hard drive. I downloaded itunes and went to put my music back on and when I unplug my hard drive i get this message "The song could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?". I have close to 3500 songs so its a little annoying that i cant update or sync my ipod/iphone. Are there any tips or tricks you could help me with in order to fix this problem

The manual does not show that feature natively for the iPod. Later iPhones and iPads have that feature natively. -
iTunes keeps popping up a dialog box that says "An update to the carrier settings for your iPhone is available. Would you like to download it?" What is this? When I click on the "Learn More" button in the dialog box it takes me to a generic iTunes support page that has no relevance to carrier settings.
I got this three times within the last 4 hours and have been getting it almost every day since I use my new iPhone 6 - over a week now. This happens almost every time I connect the phone to my MacBook Pro, although every time I confirm and it indicates successful update.
It is highly unlikely that my carrier updates settings on daily basis or three times a day. It is almost surely a bug in the Apple system and anything but a timely and effective solution is unacceptable.
For debugging information, I recovered a backup from my former iPhone 5 onto the new one, using the same carrier and SIM. -

IIf the battery was completely drained it might take some time before the phone will respond. Wait at least 30 minutes with the phone connected to the charger. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. If the phone starts up let it continue to charge until it's 100%.
if the broken button will not let you do the reset Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -
why am I still getting this message after logging in? "This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “*************s iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?" - after I have logged in and get the message that the computer is already authorized!!!?? - and then the above message pops up again?

I upgraded to iOS 5 on my 3GS without any issues but now everytime I connect to iTunes the message ' iTunes was interrupted while restoring the contents of the iPhone. would you like to restore the phone again now? with the options of cancel, continue restore and delete back-up. what happens if i click delete back up?
I'm not getting the message anymore!
What I did:
1.- Went to preferences in itunes/ Devices --> erased the corrupted backup (there were two backups)
2.- Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1
Done!
PS: Maybe upgrading solves the problem without erasing the corrupted backup -
My itunes on my iMac for the passed few weeks now keeps on comming with the message "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPhone. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"
or "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPad. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?"
This while everything was working fine.

When I press autorize, it comes up with a unknow appleID. When I use apple ID's that work - it comes with the message that the computer is autorized. but then the autorization message comes back.You can't change the Apple ID that the Authorize dialog comes up with by default. It's showing you that Apple ID for a reason: it means that the items you want to play were purchased using that Apple ID and therefore you need to authorize your computer with that Apple ID. Changing the Apple ID given completely defeats the entire purpose.
If you don't know the password to the given Apple ID, then you will no longer be able to play those items. -
while trying to sync with my iphone I recieve the message: This computer is no longer authorized for apps that are installed on the iPhone “Terri George’s iPhone”. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store? When I put in my password and hit authorize, I get a message telling me there was an unknown error (-50).
