Leave it alone for an hour and try the reset procedure again. Make sure you're using a genuine Apple charger & cable in a known good wall outlet. You can also try another cable if necessary, and make sure the charging area is clean and free of fluff & debris.

Is it the Home button that doesn't work, or the Power (Sleep/Wake) button? If the Power button works, you can switch it off. Not sure how you have been able to do anything without the Home button working?

Right click on the iPod Nano icon. "Eject" should pop up. At least that is the way it works on Macs.

Guys, I been in the business working on PC and MAC for years. So I am not green at this, I was looking for some kind of option to get past the boot loader.. Which is failing.
I know how to boot into these modes.. Done tons of research before posting and couldn't find anything.
It will not go into Internet Recovery, or any thing else. I hear the sound .. then that is it.. I get nothing else..
I have tried clearing the NVRAM which is Option + Command + P + R
Still nothing..
So I thought I would try here to see if maybe there was some trick out there someone might know of that would work.
What else guys? I am hitting th keys right..

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Thank you for trying to help. I followed your instructions, it took 6 hours to download, and then said it could not solve the problem (something to do with error 9?). It will have to go back to Apple - its only 3 days since it came out of the package and its very disappointing for him. Are you not seeing the icon of the app you just downloaded (it happens sometimes, and the quick fix is to reset your iPad)? Or are you running out of space on your iPad?

Just let the battery drain until the screen shuts off. When you charge it back up it should boot up normally.
