Hi -- JMS starter

Hello everyone
I set the j2ee.jar in the classpath and after compiled the example given in the documentation
I got problems in Creating the JMS Administered Objects
C:\jms>j2eeadmin -addJmsDestination MyQueue queue
'j2eeadmin' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
so I just omitted that step and when i tried this
C:\jms>java -Djms.properties=%J2EE_HOME%config\jms_client.properties SimpleQueueSender MyQueue 3
I'm getting the following error
Queue name is MyQueue JNDI lookup failed: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: QueueConnectionFactory not found
so Anybody can help .. I'll appricate your help
thanks
Murali

Add your <j2ee-installation>\bin to PATH to run j2eeadmin (or change to that directory, but in this case you will have to do so everytime to run j2eeadmin>

Depending on your OS, there are two possibilities:
    PointBase:
the .lck file was not being deleted due to a permission error, and that led to a string of events that would cause the check point error. (e.g. a rollback would be attempted on every access to the db)
Adding "FilePermission delete" to the servlet block of the lib/security/server.policy file fixed the problem.
    or
After installing the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 software, I'm receiving errors trying to use the J2EE RI server, the PointBase database, and/or the internal UDDI Registry. How do I fix this?
Applicable to release S1S4u1 EEfJ. Also applicable to releases: S1S7 EEfS (Solaris environment only)
If you are in a Solaris(TM) environment and plan to use the PointBase Server 4.2 Restricted Edition database, the J2EE(TM) Reference Implementation 1.3.1 server, the internal Java(TM) Web Services Developer Pack's (JWSDP) Tomcat 4.1 server, or the internal UDDI registry server packaged with the Sun(TM) ONE Studio, Enterprise Edition for Java(TM) software (IDE), be aware that you must have write access to the IDE directories used by these components. To ensure a writeable IDE installation, install a personal copy of the Sun ONE Studio, Enterprise Edition for Java software in your home directory and run the product from this location.
Please note that the default Solaris installation procedure causes the <s1studio-install-dir> tree to be owned by the root user. Therefore, a non-root user running the IDE will be denied write access resulting in errors when attempting to run any of these packaged servers.
To install a personal copy of the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java, please use the following instructions.
If you have the Sun ONE Studio 4 update 1 CD, do the following:
1.Be sure you are logged on as 'yourself', not a root user.
2.Insert the CD. NOTE: If the Auto run feature is enabled, an installer wizard appears and asks for the root password. Close this wizard. Do not install this product as root user.
3.From the directory where you want the IDE installed, type /cdrom/s1studio/image/ffj_installers_ee/ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
4.Follow the install panels, using the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java Getting Started Guide (found at http://forte.sun.com/ffj/documentation/s1s41/getstartedee41.pdf )for any additional information.
If you have downloaded Sun ONE Studio 7, Enterprise Edition for Solaris from the web site, do the following:
    1. Go to this web site http://www.sun.com/software/sundev/jde/buy/index.html and read the section called "Before you Download" for additional pre-install information.
    2. Scroll to the area entitled Enterprise Edition for Java and click on the Try & Buy Download link. This takes you to the Download Center Login page.
    3. Enter your username and password to login, (you may need to register). Accept the license agreement. You will be presented with the download page.
    4. Be sure you are logged on as 'yourself', not a root user.
    5. Find the correct file for the Solaris platform, ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin, (151.54MB), and click the link to begin the product download, saving the file into a download directory of your choice.
    6. Once the download is complete, set the DISPLAY environment variable to display to your local system, for example: % setenv DISPLAY your-local-system:0.0
    7. Set the execute permission on the ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin file by typing: % chmod a+x ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
    8. Execute the installer as a non-root user by typing (from the download directory): % ffj_ee_solsparc_en.bin
    9. See the Sun ONE Studio 4, Enterprise Edition for Java Getting Started Guide (found at http://forte.sun.com/ffj/documentation/s1s41/getstartedee41.pdf ) for additional installation and configuration information.

    scanzano,
I was wondering if you ever received and answer to this question, becuase I am faced with the same problem when I attempt a signon to the 'admin server' I receive the following message:
    type Status report
message Invalid direct reference to form login page
description The request sent by the client was syntactically incorrect (Invalid direct reference to form login page).
This is displayed as an "HTTP Status 400 - Invalid direct reference to form login page!!??" It appears that this message has been around for a while so I'm wondering if this issue will ever get resolved??

  • J2EE app server won't start on Windows XP Pro

    Greetings --
I have been trying to get the J2EE SDK up and
running on my Portable computer but have been
unable to get the application server up and
running. Whenever I try to run it using
    j2ee -verbose
    I get
    Error executing J2EE server ...
(I have included the entire error output below).
If anyone has encountered this problem and has
    a fix -- I'd most appreciate it!
    Thanks in advance!

I found the answer (thanks to Aaron Walsh) to this so I'll go ahead answer my own question for posterity (just in case someone else with the same problem stumbles across this post). The problem was that I had copied the j2ee.jar file to JAVA_HOME\jre\lib\ext. Evidently, it was this jar that the Reference Implementation was using and likely it could not find resource files relative to that context.
BOTTOM LINE: DON'T COPY j2ee.jar TO THE EXTENSIONS DIRECTORY OF YOUR JAVA RUNTIME.

However when I shutdown weblogic and bring it back up the destinations
are still there.. Is there a way to programatically remove destinations
    via mbeans
that works. I am aware that I have to use JMSHelper to add them
    otherwise
they dont get written to the config file??
BTW the documentation for this stinks.

    Hello Ken,
Actually, when you register the destination in the JMS Connector Service, you are also creating an entry in the JNDI Registry of the Web AS, which you can use to look up the destination in your application. Furthermore, using a resource environment reference (relevant for J2EE applications), you can define an arbitrary lookup name for the destination, so the physical one does remain hidden. Hope this answers your question.
    Best regards,
    Zornitsa

  • Pending message redelivery wait period after server startup

Hi, I have seen an strange behaviour in the way pending JMS messages are
redelivered to MDBs at server startup.
In my unit test I have seen that, killing Weblogic during an MDB code
execution as expected makes the container to redelivery unconfirmed message
at server startup. I have also seen that it's redelivered about 4 minutes
after server is started (more info of this in thread: "Problem with
persistent messages and MDBs" 25 October 2002)
After a recent crash we have had on the system in wich there were a lot of
messages pending to deliver to an MDB we saw that they were being
redelivered just after the MDBs were deployed while system was starting. Of
course due to the fact that some components needed by the MDB were not
deployed by that time, a lot of exceptions were raised making messages to be
queued again and promptly delivered wich caused more exceptions. Just a big
              mess!
I'm tring to figure a good work-around about this, what I wanted to know is
how is implemented the "delay" to send messages after server startup. Is it
done by comparing timestamp of message (when did it enter the queue and
thereby persisted on the store) with current system time?. That approach of
course will fail if any of the messages were sent before that "delay" time.
If this is the case and there isn't a fix for it this is what I have in
              mind:
Each MDB will have a private attribute wich will be used to detect when
system has completely started. By default it will be false and after a
message is sent to the MDB the first line of the onMessage method will test
wether system has started or not (by checking weblogic connection port i.e.
7001. Btw. is there any better way of checking server has finished start-up)
if not, a runtime exception will be launched that will force message to be
redelivered (without trying to execute any MDB code), I think setting a
proper redelivery delay i.e. 30-60 secs. will allow server to startup with
less problems (in the situation I described above JVM crashed with an 11
              system signal)
Any other ideas to deal with this?
              Thanks in advance.
              Regards.
              Ignacio.

    Hi Ignacio,
I think you can usually control the order in which ejb's are booted,
through a combination of console settings and
meta file entries. I suggest posting to the ejb newsgroup
              to find out how.
The four minute delay you see is normal for resolving
interrupted transactions, but I believe that an enhancement
was put into a 7.0 SP to reduce or eliminate this interval,
and that 8.1 has no interval. Post to the transaction
newsgroup for more info, or contact customer support.
Given that you referenced earlier posts on this issue, you
probably already know how to tune the interval down to one
              minute even without the enhancements.
There is no other delay for sending messages at system startup,
as soon as the MDB is booted it attaches to JMS, and JMS
starts delivering messages whose transactional state is known.
              Tom
P.S. I suppose one way to detect end-of-boot is to
place a startup class last in the boot order.
P.P.S. For MDBs one alternative is to code a "sleep" in the onMessage if
an unavailable resource is detected - this
is hokey, but works as long as you have made sure that
max-beans-in-free-pool totals do not come near or exceed
              available thread pool size.

  • App Server 8.0, run as a Windows service?

I am running Sun Java System Application Server 8 (Platform Edition) on Windows XP.
I want to run the app server as a Windows service.
    How can I do this?
I looked at Sun's documentation. I could not find any information about using the app server as a Windows service.

    Some details:
The server is started/stoped by a batch asadmin, which collect some parameters and use a java class to instantiate/stop the server. The server process then forks and will be an independent one. Moreover, the App Server is dependent of Sun Message Queue, another service it will start. This other service is called by an exe that will initiate another java process to implement this service. You end up with three process: the java process of the App Server, an exe which controls the JMS service and another java process for the JMS. The Sun Message Queue can be installed as a Windows Service itself, see the docs. App Server 7 seemed to connect cleanly to a running instance of JMS (started either as service or from console), but App Server 8 seems to require its own. I write this in a hurry and it is still an unsolved problem for me (us?), sorry.

  • Does Distiller Server 8.0 run as a service?

I recently installed Distiller Server 8.0 on a Windows 2003 server. I do not find any services running associated with Distiller. Does this program install as a service on a server? If the program is shut down, the watched folders will not output the pdf files in our application.

    Some details:

  • How to stop and start MDBs to listen for JMS messages

Hello! This might be more of an architecture question rather than a technical questing, but I post it here, in the lack of a better place...
For several years I have been using Webster and Webster MQ to send messages back and forth to clients. The architecture for the middleware platform has been designed around the functionality of ListenerPorts. Listenerports is a Webster functionality that let you "stop" and start to listen to JMS messages for a given MDB either by admin console, or by JMX.
The arhitecture we used was something like this :
1.Client sends a persistent message to a queue. (order)
    2. An MDB pics up the order message, calls a SessionBean that "fronts" the IIOP back end system.
This is quite "out of the box" architecture, but we used the Listenerports to solve a stability problem for our back end system.
The backEnd system was quite unstable, so the EJB threw an exception (typically because of timeout or connection refused) back to the MDB.
The Listenerport was "defined" to handle 3 errors before stopping, so the MDB resent the message twice before the listenerport automatically stopped. The nice thing about this feature was that the client could continue to send orders, and was not bothered when the back end system was down.
When the backEnd system was up and running, we could start the listenerport and it was all back to normal state. We even had a start script that checked the state of the listenerport every 30 minute, and started it automatically if it was stopped, making the admin task of starting the MDB unnecessary..
Now.. Why am I telling this story..
I would like to know how this could be done using "clean" J2EE technologies..That is..Not using any technology that is not portable..
I`m playing with glassfish at home, and it struck me that there is nothing in the J2EE spec that defines the functionality described above ? Am i missing something ?
I Do not want to stop My application because the back end system is down? That is the only way (i know of) that i can "stop" to listen for messages..
I can put all the messages on an error queue when the backbend system is down, but that would lead to more code just to handle the error messages. Maybe the easiest way to solve this is to "move" (programmatically) all messages from the error queue over to the "standard" queue every XX minute, but somehow that sounds "wrong"
Can anyone give me some advice to how this problem situation should be solved ? I`m interested in the solution both from an architectural perspective and from a more technical perspective..
    Best regards
    Hans-Jacob Melby

Breakpoints, whether normal or conditional, are just meant for debugging of your code.  I had the sense from your question that the pausing you want to do is a part of normal operation of your code.  I would NOT recommend using a breakpoint for that situation.  It would bring up the block diagram showing the breakpoint when it occurs.  A user besides the programmer would not know what to do in that case.
Yes, both the inner and outer loops would have shift registers.
Putting a case structure with a small while loop inside the "Pausing Case" is doable.  It just depends on what you are doing or waiting for while the program operation is "paused".

  • How to avoid JMS validation when starting weblogic server

    Hi All,
When starting up WebLogic server, it will validate JMS destinations one by one for deployed applications.
If I don't connect the VPN, then these JMS destinations are not reachable, and WebLogic Server will spend a lot of time to try connecting to these JMS destinations.
Thus it will take a lot of time to startup the WebLogic Server.
How can I disable JMS validation when starting weblogic server?
    Thanks and Regards!

    Hi Daniel,
By blank do you mean that the screen is black? Is it gray? Is it blue? The word "blank" is vague when trying to determine and isolate startup issues.

  • JMS Bridge is not starting up in Weblogic10

    Hi,
Please remove the UME inconsistencies as advised in note 818947.
Once done restart the server and JMS Provider service should start. Please update back regarding the result.

  • How to start with JMS?

    Hi All
I am new to JMS, i know about java basic stuff....
what do i need to start with JMS? i mean.. what software/applications/servers?
    I have J2SDK 1.4.2_03,
what concepts should i know as pre-requisites... ?
    Thanx..

I was in your situation a few months ago and chose OpenJMS
    http://openjms.sourceforge.net
Dead easy to get up and running. If you want to use it with Tomcat, make sure that neither openjms or tomcat are installed beneath a subdirectory with spaces. (This causes problems with RMI).
In order to test your JMS installation you'll need a tool like Hermes for browsing queues. This was a bit more difficult to get running but the help docs were excellent.

  • JMS transport warning when start server

When I start a WebLogic 9 server instance with one application deployed, I get the following warning message 5-6 times before the server changes its state to RUNNING:
<WSEE>Warning: JMS queue 'weblogic.wsee.DefaultQueue' is not found, as a result, Web Service async responses via jms transport is not supported. If the target service uses JMS transport, the responses will not be able to come back.<JmsQueueListener.connect:227>
Although the server instance still appears to start fine, these messages clog up the console - since I don't intend to use JMS transport with this server, is there any way to get rid of these messages?
    Thanks,
    David

    Hai
I am using weblogic9.2. I too got the same problem in my machine. I have solved this problem by changing the configuration in the config.xml file.
    Go to
    <WEBLOGIC HOME>\user_projects\domains\<USER_DOMIN>\config\config.xml
Open the config.xml and check the following
    <app-deployment>
    <name>webservicesJwsSimpleEar</name>
    <target>AdminServer</target>
    <module-type>ejb</module-type>
    <source-path>C:\bea\user_projects\applications\base_domain/server/examples/build/webservicesJwsSimpleEar</source-path>
    <security-dd-model>DDOnly</security-dd-model>
    </app-deployment>
if it is there comment this tag and save the config.xml file. Make sure that the server is not running while doing the changes. Now Start the server again.
    Comment out as like follows
    "<!--" <app-deployment>
    <name>webservicesJwsSimpleEar</name>
    <target>AdminServer</target>
    <module-type>ejb</module-type>
    <source-path>C:\bea\user_projects\applications\base_domain/server/examples/build/webservicesJwsSimpleEar</source-path>
    <security-dd-model>DDOnly</security-dd-model>
    </app-deployment> "-->"
Its working for me try this
    Regards
