Hi - my mac mini drops the internet after 30 seconds. If i reset in the diagnosics it works again but then drops it just the same. Its connected to my home network. All other apple devices are fine?

I have a home network which services:
Apple TV
Air port express
Mac book pro
I phone
All the above wrok perfectly.
I have a mac Mini which will join the network and operates fine but keeps dropping the internet after 30 secods of connection?
If I reset everything in the diagnostics box it will rejoin the network but then drops it again !!!
any ideas?

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

I have tried resetting it, ive restarted my browser etc. I tried to erase all data from my Ipad but I can't do that because it needs to sign into my Apple ID and use the Internet!

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.

I have 2 of them that only connected for a day and then reset network settings and they connected again for a day now resetting network settings does not fix it either. My iphone used to work with my home network but after upgrading to the latest OS which is the same versions as the ipods it no longer works either. Acts the same as the ipods. If your printer doesn't support AirPrint, HP has app that enables printing to some of their other wireless printers. Third-party printing apps such as PrintCentral are also available. All such apps have limitations, so check them out thoroughly before you pay for any such app.
You can also route the printing through your computer. If you have a Mac, Printopia would be worth a look. Fingerprint is another option that is available for both Mac OS X and Windows system. You could also consider an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer:

IPhone 5s stopped connecting to home wifi. Circle just spins in settings. Already tried to reset network settings. Other apple devices are connecting just fine.

I have the same problem. I connect my iPhone 5 to my home wifi (airport express) and to a MiFi Jetpack at work everyday. After about 2 days the phone will no longer connect. I just get a spinning circle next to the wifi name. The same thing will happen at home and at work at the same time. I'll reset my network settings on my phone then I can connect to both wifi spots. After another couple of days the process repeats. Obviously it is not the airport express or Jetpack since it only affects my iphone and not anyone elses and the reset on the phone fixes it.

BUT before you do so, and before you install it, please go through the following routine:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Try a reset, hold the home/sleep button until the device powers off then powers back on and you see the apple logo. Release when you see the apple logo and allow it to finish booting. Once it is done try updating your apps again.

WiFi on iPad 2 randomly goes out, but WiFi on other Apple devices is fine???

I have an iPhone 5 and an iPad 2. Randomly, the wifi on my iPad will just disappear. I know it isn't a problem with the wifi shutting on - because it is still working completely fine on my iPhone. If I leave it for a few hours it usually turns back on, but until then, it can't even find the network.
It's very frustrating, as most of what I do on my iPad I need Internet for - especially since I don't have a computer right now.
Restarting it, airplane moding it, etc, etc. doesn't help.
Anyone had this problem and was able to fix it? Thanks :)

As above, I have been trying to update The Age newspaper app which I have been using for ages- it's an Australian app and I have an Australian iTunes ID. It's wont let me update and says my account is invalid and I must switch to the US store? This also happens when trying to update my eBay app?? All my other app updates are fine?? This is a tricky one and I could see where it could be an issue as this App is also available in the US store. I would recommend making sure it is in your purchases via the article below on your computer. If so, try deleting the application from your iPhone or iPad and download it again free of charge via the purchased section in the App Store. Also, see if you can update the application on your computer and sync it over.

Hi All, I reluctantly upgraded to IOS 7.1.1 on my IPAD last night , reluctant as every upgrade which promises fixes which dont impact me causes problems that do , which I fix via this community. Today I can no longer access my WIFI at home, my non Apple devices all work fine.I have tried all the online suggestions I can find for this, reset facgtory settings, it will not allow me to 'forget this network', I try to reconnect and it asks for my password which I know is correct and it says it cannot access my network. It can access an unsecured one I believe, but that is not ideal. Any fresh suggestions would be really welcome, please. Many thanks

Mac Mini Server (mid 2011): after erasing both drives, do I need to reinstall OS X on both drives or just one?

After purchasing a new mac mini, I am selling the mid 2011 server. I am not sure if I need to reinstall Yosemite on both hard drives (I have erased both drives). I assume I need to but I thought I read that I don't and have not been able to find that article again. The manuals available are only for the earlier mac mini server or my year, mid 2011, the "regular" mac mini.

You should NOT install Yosemite on your 2011 model. That model DID NOT come preinstalled with OS X Yosemite. If you do you're using YOUR Apple ID not the buyer's.
Before you sell your 2011 Mac Mini you need to install the original OS that the Mac shipped with. If it came preinstalled with OS X Lion or Mountain Lion, you can use Internet Recovery (Command+Option+R) which will boot into Apple's servers and verify the Mac and allow it's preinstalled OS to be reinstalled. Here is a link that should help you prepare it for resale.
