I am receiving event ID 5189 on Server 2008 R2, IIS 7.5. I experience this error across a number of servers, each of which is running only the default web site, but have 600+ applications running on the default web site. Each application
has its own application pool. My point is, the applicationhost.config is rather large.

However, in my case, it doesn't seem that the extreme measures for this resolution are required. The error usually indicates a corrupted applicationhost.config that must be manually fixed, or otherwise the WAS service needs to be restarted, or the
server itself, etc.
In my case, the issue can usually be fixed by an application pool recycle, or at worst a stop/start. I have an application which is sensitive to recycles, and so we do not have periodic recycle events configured for this application, which is the bulk
of the applications on the servers. It seems to me that this issue is usually caused by the application being in use when there is an applicationhost.config change.
For instance, we have one application that we deploy using msdeploy. We found that when we ran an installation for this application via msdeploy, we were receiving this event, and we would subsequently get 500 errors in the application (sometimes the
application pool corresponds to that which is identified in the event log, sometimes it doesn't).    It seems like applications that were being hit at the time the applicationhost.config was modified by msdeploy were affected. In an attempt
to correct this, we moved from msdeploy to a batch file containing appcmd commands. This also did not resolve the issue.
I have another application which is installed using PowerShell commandlets. We started to notice that this script also caused the issue to occur on occasion. As I continued to identify different processes that resulted in the same issue, I came
to the conclusion that this is likely due to any change in the applicationhost.config. I assume the issue is that the applicationhost.config is modified during a read operation to the file by the application pool, or WAS service, and that the recycle
event, which corrects the issue, forces a re-read of the applicationhost.config, resolving the bad-read issue.
Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have any recommendations? My current work-around is to not install any applications during peak hours, and performing an IISRESET after installs are completed, to ensure application stability.

As an update to this issue, after doing some research, it appears the behavior is related to a new feature in IIS7 called Application Pool Isolation (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd163536.aspx).
This new feature prevents cross-application spillage by isolating the configuration for each application pool in IIS. So in reality, an application pool never actually reads the applicationhost.config - that is just a master file, and each time it
is update, it triggers a change to the individual application pool configuration files, located in C:\inetpub\temp\apppools.
We did try setting Advanced Settings > Disable Recycling for Configuration Change to true, but after an IIS reset we were still able to reproduce the issue - worse actually, because in our test program, which continually hits the web
service, and also continually makes apphost.config changes, when the two events collide, the 500.19 issue precipitates; but after an additional change to the apphost.config, it seems that the additional changes will actually correct the issue (seemingly forcing
another recycle, which is also how we resolve the issue manually); after making this setting adjustment, once the 500.19 issue precipitates, additional changes to the apphost.config does not correct the problem, only a manual recycle corrects it. This
is the recycling.disallowRotationOnConfigChange property of the app pool. We also set the setting for recycling.disallowOverlappingRotation to True as well, with the same result.
We ARE able to prevent this issue by setting the C:\inetpub\temp\apppools\myapppool\myapppool.config to read-only, but for obvious reasons, this is not a desired work-around.
It seems like what is happening is that any change to the ApplicationHost.config is resulting in each of the C:\inetpub\temp\apppools temp application pool config files being updated as well, in addition to triggering an application pool recycle. It
seems to me the desired behavior would be that these files are only updated if the applicationhost.config changes are specific to that application pool - but that doesn't seem to be the behavior.
After turning on failed request tracing, I was able to narrow the error down more:

IF you are getting a message that the username and password are incorrect.....
Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

Please advice. The highest volume became much lower after software upgrade (to 10.3.1.1565) last night.

PLEASE HELP MUVO N200 ERROR EVERY TIME I TRY AND DOWNLOAD A SONG

hi every time i try and download a song it says error. i put it into recovery mode and it fixes it but i have to unload all the songs off and then start again but the same thing happens again and sometimes i don't even know if my player goes into recovery mode because my computer doesn't detect it. is there anything i can do about the error every time i try an ddownload a song? please help i am relly frustrated!!

"Download" as in from LimeWire or some such program? Or loading your player with songs.
If it's from LimeWire, the song file is probably corrupted.
If it's loading your player with songs, either you haven't installed the player's corresponding driver correctly, or something's happened to corrupt your firmware.
Try downloading the firmware from Creative and re-loading it onto your player. Very easy to do.
If that doesn't fix anything, try uninstalling and then re-installing the Creative MuVo N200 driver onto your computer. Get somebody that really knows what they're doing to help you.

Installed my SSD from my Windows 8 PC onto it getting the bootmgr is missing. I formatted the SSD but when I try and plug in my external harddrive to restore my mac settings I backed up using time machine, the computer doesn't show it as an option.

I recently bought a MacBook Pro. I had a windows 8 pc that had hardware issues that didn't deal with the harddrive. When I got the mbp, I installed the SSD from my windows 8 pc into the macbook. Before doing this, I made a time machine backup on my external hard drive. When I booted up the macbook pro with the windows 8 SSD in it, windows 8 started up. I tried formating the harddrive from within windows but it wouldn't work. From there, I put a spare windows 7 ultimate disk into the macbook and formatted the hard drive using that. Now, bootmgr is missing error keeps coming up and I can't put my time maching backup onto the macbook. Quick replies are appreciated, thanks!

You need to boot from an OS X installer disc compatible with this model's hardware or you must connect it by Target Disk Mode - Target Disk Mode - so you can re-partition and reformat the hard drive before you can install Mountain Lion on it or any other version of OS X. Here's the process:
Drive Partition and Format
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
If you are preparing an external or a non-startup drive, then open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

Whenever I open itunes (not try and sync), I get a duplicate file name was specified error. It also gives me the same error when I try and download music, saying it cant. I just downloaded itunes so not much could have gone wrong so far.

Before you ask, i tried going through the third-party add-on document and opening it up in safemode did not fix it. Also, I am running it as administrator and that is not helping either.

I DID IT! I FIXED IT, FINALLY!!! At least it worked for me. Here's what I did: from Control Panel/Programs/Programs and Features/Uninstall or Change Program, I right-clicked on iTunes and selected Repair. After that ran and completed, I went to Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files. From the list, I right-clicked on iTunes and selected “Run as Administrator.” After that I tried to purchase music from iTunes, and it worked! I hope this makes sense and works for you. Good luck!

This Quicksilver 2002 was bought at a government auction and had no software with it, so I bought a set of system installer disks from someone on a Mac discussion list who said they were the right ones for it. Maybe he was wrong. The fine print on the X installer disks say "Mac OS Version 10.2.1, CD version 1.0, 2Z691-4104-A," and on the Software Restore disks that include 9.2.2 the number is 691-4078-A. Both have "© 2002 Apple Computer Inc." on them. At least the year is right.
I looked at the Apple page you sent the link to, but nowhere on it can I see a way to match these numbers with any G4.
Over the years I have owned several G4s, which I pass on to family members as I get newer ones, and I have several OS and software installer disks from these G4s. None of these installer disks has been able to install a bootable OS-9 System on any internal or external drive attached to this Quicksilver. Either I get the message "This software will not run on your computer," or if it does install 9.2.2, the computer will not boot back into OS-9 with it.
Seems I'm foiled no matter what I do.
At one time there was a bootable OS-9 System on one of the internal drives of this Quicksilver, the one attached to the internal ATA bus. But that drive was formatted in OS-9 in another G4, and the result was that the Mac would only recognize 128 gigs of the 250-gig hard drive. In order to see and use more than 128 gigs, I was told that the disk has to be formatted in OS-X. So, I wiped the drive and reformatted it with OS-X. The Mac then recognized the full capacity of the drive, but all subsequent attempts to put a bootable OS-9 System back on this drive, or on any other drive attached to this computer, have failed.
If I knew where to obtain an installer disk that would put OS-9 on this computer I'd buy one, but I don't even know how I would be able to identify what I need, much less locate and buy it.

Can someone please tell me the default Firefox settings for Fonts and sizes (the advanced font settings, too)? I started playing around with mine and now I just want them back to normal, but there's no reset button for fonts, just the zoom features. Help!

Under "Firefox," "Preferences," and then "Fonts and Colors" there is a setting that I would like to know the default for, as well as all of those that you see when you select the "Advanced" button for Fonts.
