Hey guys, Just want to know if i can jump from osx 10.5.8 straight to 10.6.4? Is there an update in between ? The version upgrades from 10.x to 10.y will traditionally cost you some money.
Make sure your Mac meets the requirements for 10.6 — if you're on PPC, you cannot upgrade to 10.6. (For reference, here are the Lion 10.7 system requirements. The 10.7 upgrade requires 10.6.6 or later, and can be purchased by calling Apple directly and acquiring a download code, if it doesn't show up in the Mac App Store for you automatically. I don't think your hardware would be supported with 10.8, if you're presently running 10.5.)
In any case, you can purchase an official Apple Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD disk for US$20.
Back up your system before installing the new software.
Once you install 10.6, you'll run software update and the 10.6.8 combo update will be downloaded and installed for you. That's free. 10.6.8 allows you to use your trackpad, as well as access the Mac App Store and some other tools; it's the most recent version of 10.6. -
I just want to know what Apple computer to get to play Civilization V down loaded from the App store.
The game Civ5 processes a turn in single core mode. It says “please wait” while it processes a turn. If the intel i7 CPU is “fourth generation” it is twice as fast for civ5 turn processing. It does not matter if you have more memory or a better graphics chip. So, I can get a smaller cheeper Apple computer as long as it is fourth generation. I tested three new iMacs, two new MacPros and two mac minis.

I have looked at that darned “please wait” message for years. Now it can be 60 seconds on a new MacPro6,1 or late 2012 Mac mini and 30 seconds on a new iMac. Even the 21.5 iMac 3.1 GHz has 3.9 GHz turbo boost for single core and it is supposed to be fourth generation.
Some of that does not seem to true for the new 21.5 inch iMac I just tested (Fusion drive). Mac Mini 54 seconds 21.5 iMac 49 seconds.

Be sure to get one that is officially unlocked or you would not be able to use it with your cell carrier. Be sure that your carrier supports use of the iPhone before you buy. Also note that the warranty of the iPhone is only valid in the country of purchase.

Serial numbers are Mac only or Windows only. There is a platform swap process (from Mac to PC etc) but only for CS6.
As a CS5 owner, your choices are to either pay to upgrade to CS6 for Mac or join the Cloud. -

Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software. Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7. Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows. Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7. VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows. The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris. It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc. There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization. The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system.

I'm visiting new York(USA) for work on Sunday, just wanted to know if i can buy an un locked iphone from the apple store or not, since i'm not a resident, to the record we don't have an apple store at my country.
You can buy an unlocked iPhone at any of the 5 Apple stores in NYC. All are open on Sunday. Note a couple of things, however:
US iPhone 5's will work on 3G in the rest of the world, but not on LTE because the US phones use different channels than other countries
Be sure you say "unlocked", not "no contract"
If it breaks it must be returned to a US store for repair, and if shipped to Apple it must be from and to a US address -

I got some message showing a long list of threats I think from security, firefox,avg maybe, I just don't know,it was lists of numbers. this was what made me think it might be firefox mail security. I have disabled avg and it has made no difference. If it's not firefox then what could it be,I would appreciate some advice. thank you

hey i bought an i pod mini used for 80 bucks from a friend it worked fine for a week then it broke the buttons stopped working so i opened it up because hey its not under waranty any right so i saw that the strip that connects button pad consel to the main chip board was still plugged in to the little white thingy but the white thing was broken off of the board. any way its not reading the buttons i push but it still turn on when i charge it and the songs still come up on itunes. oh also the sreen is a little cracked and there is some black fluid leaked alittle but im willing to live with that . so do have any advice as far as parts or repairs i could get
Either get a new one, resolder the "White Thigy" to the Printed Circut Board or send it off to apple, I think they might charge more than what it would cost for a new one????

iPhone warranty is country specific, except for the EU, where warranty is EU wide. You may or may not get service in Australia, so don't be surprised if you don't.

You buy one download and one download only, it is your responsibility to backup your music.
it has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases -
