Hidden drop-down list
Hi,
I have a form with multiple drop-down, text fields, etc. Depending on how the user responds to drop downs, but what I would like to do is for users to be able to part complete the form, save it and when it reopens to prompt them with the part completed form and a new question automatically opens, but this question would only open after the form had been saved for the first time.

It has 3 scripts to create and check a counter for how many time the form has been saved.
If it was only saved once, it shows a message box.

The first script is in a script object "Actions". It creates the counter.

Help with Hidden Drop Down Lists in RBList subforms
I have created a form that contains 3 isolated Radio Button lists, each with hidden subforms that are unique per each button.
Two of my RBLists and subforms work perfectly, showing hidden Drop Down List options and other fields as they should when a button is selected.
However, RBList3 presents the Drop Down lists as user entry fields only. Each hidden subform in RBList3 contains one drop down menu and one text box for instructions.
I've used the same javascript to hide/show hidden fields when buttons are selected. All settings seem to match up. Here is a sample of my code:

I see that the code works for radio button G selection in the change event. However, what I really need to happen...is for the RBList options to be present on the screen without any subform data until the user clicks button E, F or G. If either E or F is selected, then the drop list and the text box would pop up as you currently have them placed on screen.
My original problem was that the EdgeDropDown2 list loses its functionality when wrapped in a hidden subform (i.e. SubformE or SubformF).
Can I add code to the change event to make EdgeDropDown2 and PanzDrawTxt appear only if either E or F are chosen. The code you wrote below works only for G selection.

Displaying value only in Drop Down List
Greetings,
I have a drop down list with value:text as follows:
01:Daylight
02:Dusk
03:Dawn
04:Night
I would like to present the user who clicks on the drop down list with all of the literal text options (daylight, night, etc), but once selected, the object populate and print only the value (01, 02, etc).
I thought about resizing the object when the user clicks on it, and then resizing it back once selected, but this seems rather cumbersome. Space on the printed form is very limited, which is why the value/codes are used to represent the actual literal options.
Any methods or ideas would be greatly welcome

BradHere is a sample that shows what I think you want. I have a TextField that is displayed. When the user enters the field, I hide this field and make a DDlist available to the user. This DDList is placed behind the TextField and is hidden (not part of the layout) until the user enters the TextField. I also hide the TextField (this code is on the Enter event of the TextField). Now that the DDlist is visible you can set up a DDList to display one thing but report another. This is what I did (look at the binding tab of the DDList). Now when the user selects an item from the DDList the TextField is updated, the DDList is hidden and the TextField is made visisble, then the cursor is placed in the next field. This code is on the Exit event of the DDList.

How can I use two drop down lists for one time value?
I want to enter the length of time that someone does an activity in hours and minutes using two drop down lists, then enter them as a single time value (H:i:s) in Mysql.
I've used the basic drop down lists, and a few different variations of the following with no success (seconds is a hidden field with a value of "00"):

How can I make a bound drop-down list using OAF?
Please note, this is for OAF. I am aware of the support in ADF.
I'm sorry this is such a basic question, but I've been trying for days, and I can't think of anywhere else to look for an answer.
I need a simple drop-down list, not a search. This particular list only has 10 or so items. It is based on a view containing a code value, and a description. I need all descriptions to be available at all times. Just click the arrow, and the entire list is displayed. When the user selects an entry, the code associated with the discription populates a bound attribute. Ideally, when the page is instantiated, the code value controls the text value visible in the collapsed drop-down list. Visually, it would be similar to an html <select> element.
Can someone please tell me how I can produce such a simple thing, or point me to some documentation?

That was the key piece of information that had me confused.
In addition to adding the messageChoice component to the page, I needed to write some code to synchronize the picklist value with the corresponding code value, which I placed in am OAFormValueBean (hidden form field) which I could then bind to my application's database EO in the controller, running in the processFormRequest procedure:

Getting problem in hiding drop down list in jsp pages

I have a jsp in which i created a tabbed panel & put 3 forms .
1 of the form contains 3 drop dwom list & few text boxes.
All 3 forms are inside <div> tags .
Clicking on any one of the tab corresponding form is getting displayed with all its form fields hiding other 2 form fields.
but problem is coming with 1 form having drop down list.
all its field get hidden except these drop down list.

UPDATE: I commented out the form, and added <%=floornumbers.size()%> right above the commented code to check if the ArrayList is indeed getting populated with the values from the database (the values are of type integer in the database). The page still freezes like before. I'm puzzled now :confused: .Wrong usage of Iterator.

Loop the hidden table, get the values and populate drop down in each iteration.

You can use one more solution for this scenario. If it is a matter of 2,3 dropdowns, put three dropDowns in the form layout and give seperate static data binding to them. At run time make the dropDowns hide/visible as per the requirement.

How do I pass a username form variable from a drop down list/menu to another page?

I have a login_success.php page that has a drop down list/menu (which lists usernames). I want the user to click on their user name, and when they click the submit button the username information to be passed over to the username.php page which will contain a recordset, sorted by username.
How do I pass the username info from the drop down list/menu to the username.php page?
The drop down menu is connected to a recordset listUsername, I have filtered the recordset with the Form Variable = username, and I have used the POST method to send the username to the page username.php. I'm not sure how to structure the php or which page to place it on.

My problem is at the WHERE point, how do I code for single and multipule selections, The . "WHERE events.ven_id = ({$ven_id} OR events.org_id = {$org_id})\n" throws and error.
How am I best programing this type of query, ?? Should it be with php ??The best thing is to dynamically build your where clause based on the user selection. Test the values of all form fields and if the user does not make a selection, do not include that in the where clause.
Trying to build a single, static where clause that accounts for all possible user input permutations is extremely difficult. -
Firefox 3 has a context menu for the drop down list of
the Location Bar. One option on this menu I used often
is "Open Link in New Tab" -- quite convenient.
This context menu has disappeared in Firefox 4.

How to add a interactive drop-down list
I want a drop-down list that will add a set of required fields based on the choice from the list.
In this case, we want users to fill in their job title, and based on that title selected we need them to fill in specific licensing information. I haven't found a javascript (or I don't have the expertise) to make this happen. I have done forms in the past that would just hide unneeded fields, but is there a way to actually have the fields become active, or appear based on the list selections?Yes, it's possible. Filtering in excel - not all options display in drop down list
I have found an issue with the filter drop-down list in Excel 2010. I have now been upgraded (by my employee) to Excel 2013 and same problem still exists.
Problem: I highlight the row containing the column headings; then click on filter (available via the Home tab); then click on the down arrow in the column of interest (in this case "Council Names" column); the drop-down window appears but not all
council names are displayed in the selection list, even though those council names are still in the list. I am aware of the 10,000 option limit with the selection list, but my spread sheet has well under 10,000 rows (unless there is something hidden that I
do not know about).
I have found work-arounds for the problem by searching google for answers to similar problems. I have also spoken to my employee's IT HelpDesk. I will explain the work-arounds I have found below. However, my main concerns now are:
(1) What is the cause of the problem? Is there are better fix that addresses the cause, rather than having to use work-arounds?
(2) Is the issue an indication that the spread sheet has been corrupted in some way? - I need assurance that this is not an indication that the spread sheet is unstable and such problems could multiply or already be existing. (The reason I ask
this is that I had an earlier version of the same spread sheet where the problem did not occur, but it appeared in a later copy - could the copying of the sheet/workbook have caused the problem?)
Workarounds found:
(1) Select the entire sheet, then select the filter button in Home tab
(2) select all the columns manually (click in top left cell and drag down until all data selected), then select filter button

Thank you very much! Yes you are right - I have looked at the Current Region and the Council Names within that region match those in the filter list. The Current Region does not contain the entire sheet.
[By the way - there were some errors in my original post: employee should be employer and in my description of the problem the following should read
"...even though those council names are still in the spread sheet". I assume that this would not change your response?]
Further questions
(1) It is odd, though, that an earlier version of the same spread sheet had a complete list of council names (the current range on this sheet contains all of the required rows of the sheet). How did the current region change between versions (I did not knowingly
do it)?
(2) Does the above mean that the file, workbook or spread sheet is damaged/corrupted in some way? If yes, can this be corrected and how?
(3) In addition to (2) above - what is the safest way to copy an excel workbook to minimise risk/avoid future corruption? [I have been copying and keeping earlier versions, partly for testing reasons, but also as a safety measure for the project as
we are making changes all the time and may decide we wish to go back to the previous version(s)].

Can we display only the required dimensions under Dimensions Drop Down list
Hi,
I am using Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management, Fusion Edition 11.1.1.3.00, so far under Activities -> Maps option we used to display all the dimensions used in the application, but now as per the client's requirement we need to display only those dimensions which needs mapping under dimensions drop down list.
Eg)
Now in our Application our Dimension Drop Down list will look show these dimensions
Account
Entity
Legal Entity
Inter company
Reverse 1
Reverse 2
Among these we are doing mapping only for Account, Entity dimensions so we need to hide rest of the dimensions from the Dimensions Drop Down list for which we are not using any mappings (Legal Entity, Inter company,Reverse 1,Reverse 2)
Another thing is these dimensions should be hidden only from the drop down list and not from the Output file generated after the Export.
Some suggestions regarding this issue will be greatly helpful.

If hiding the other dimensions is to prevent users from accessing and changing the mappings then you could do this by amending the object security so that only certain user roles can access the Activities > Maps option.
This will only really work if you have limited users / central team that will control the maps but it is the most obvious way to stop users accessing the maps.
