Hi,
Now I don't know why you need to show the column heading if data won't be shown, but maybe it is something the client thinks it's something "nice" to have.
Anyway, look at this example that shows/hides entire column depending on the selected value of a check box ( in your case LOV) .
http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:78:1494600569809382:::RP,::
You can tweak it as follows:
Assume in your report you have 2 columns (col1,col2) that you want to be shown/hidden depneding on that LOV , create duplicated of these coulmns ( col1_2 , col2_2) that shows "null" values and are hidden at page load.
Then tweak that provided code to show the "duplicate" coulmn and hide the original column if corresponding value was seleced in the LOV...something like :
Col1 Col1_2 Col2 Col2_2
Mike Manage
John Accountantat load it will look like :
Col1 Col2
Mike Manage
John AccountantWhen LOV selects col1 to be hidden , it will hide col1 and show col1_2
Col1 Col2
Manage
AccountantHope this helps!

SQL*Plus report: hide accept value in report
HI all,
I have created an SQL Report of an APEX-Application. The output is stored in a HTML file.
All works fine but one think I want to hide in the HTML report.
I try to describe what the problem is.
I prompt the user to put in the application_id of the apex application:

In the HTML file the following output is shown:

Oracle 11g R2Hi, Ben,
The SQL*Plus command to stop those messages is
SET VERIFY OFF
Put this command anywhere before the first use of a substitution variable, e.g. before the SPOOL command.
Those "OLD" and "NEW" messages will stay suppressed until you either end the SQL*Plus session, or issue a SET VERIFY ON command.
If you use SQL*Plus often, then, when you have a few minutes, look up the SET command in the SQL*Plus manual,
SET System Variable Summary
and read a little about each option. You probably won't remember everything, but you probably will remember what kinds of things can be controlled by the SET command, and have a better idea of where to start looking in the future when you have a different problem. -
How to hide columns in SSRS Reports
I have allocation list which has various columns and weekly allocation text columns like Week1Allocation,Week2Allocation,Week3Allocation ……Week51Allocation.
I generating a report in which I am showing resource and there allocation in below form
Resource Name Week1Allocation,Week2Allocation,Week3Allocation ……Week51Allocation
Xyz
40
40
43
11
While creating report I drag and drop Week Columns in value field and resource name in Row field.
My requirement is to show Week column starting from current week and next 3 week, How can I achieve this in SRRS or What should I do to get the reports in desired form, What could be the best possible
design (List design ) for scenario. Please suggest.Hi Alok,
In your scenario, if we want to show Week column starting from current week to next 3 week, we should use expressions to control the 51 columns visibility. This is not a sensible method.
Generally, we always use one column contains Week1Allocation, Week2Allocation, Week3Allocation ……Week51Allocation values, other than create 51 columns. So I suggest we can modify the dataset to use one column (Week) contains those weeks and other column
(Allocation) contains the corresponding values, then we can drop Week column under Resource_name in Row groups and drop Allocation column in Values field. Then use the expression below to control the Allocation column visibility:
=iif(Fields!Week.Value=datepart("ww",today) or Fields!Week.Value =(datepart("ww",today)+1) or Fields!Week.Value =(datepart("ww",today)+2),false,true)
Hope this helps.

Using a Print Style Sheet to hide columns in a report
Hello there,
I am curious to know whether it is possible to hide certain columns in reports using a print style sheet.
I tried using the 'CSS Class' attribute when editing column formatting but it appears to be completely ignored and simply overwritten with the theme's default CSS Class for a report table cell (t15data in my case).
Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Cheers,
JordanHi Jordan,
Perhaps the simplest thing would be to change your page template (or, more probably, take a copy of the one you are using and edit that instead).
Add id="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" into the TH and TD tags for the Column Heading Template and all of the Column Templates.
Then, in the Region Header of the region containing the report (or anywhere above the region), enter in:
<style type="text/css" media="print">
#ID_OF_COLUMN_TO_HIDE {display:none}
>/style>
I have not tested this to see if it impacts on any other page functionality, but it does do what you need - ie, the column appears on screen but not on a printout.

Please Help - SQL Report long column value required in a separate cell
Hi.
I need to create a SQL report with the structure like below:
Country State City Vertical Business Details (detail desc)
US MA Quincy Healthcare
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
US MA Braintree IT
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
This is a detail desc value that needs to displayed in a different cell.
I came through a solution where you can hide/display the long column value in a different cell. But my requirement is that it should be displayed when the page opens and user don;t want to click on a button to see the value. This is mainly for their presentations and printing. so its very annoying for them to click on so many buttons to see the detail desc value for every record. I am new to Java script, Please helpI'm not sure I understand your requirements--are you showing us 2 lines of data, 7 lines, or 9? Do you want the long detail description on the same row, or underneath it?
I'm going to go on the assumption that you're showing us two rows, and that the long descriptions in this example happen to be 3-4 lines long, and that you want the long descriptions underneath the details. In which case, I suggest using "named column" templates. They're a lot easier to use than they appear when you first look at them, so bear with me.
Under "Shared Components", select "Templates", and then click on the yellow Create> button. You're creating a report template, from scratch. On the final page of the wizard, select "Named Column (row template)" for the template type. This will create a rather generic (and useless) template, which you'll have to edit; I don't know why they chose to not send you straight into the editor. When you edit it, you'll see that the only field with a value in it is "Row Template 1", and it's set to:
<tr><td>#1#</td><td>#2#</td><td>#3#</td><td>#4#</td><td>#5#</td></tr>For meeting your requirements with basic functionality, change it to something along the lines of:
<tr><td>#COUNTRY#</td><td>#STATE#</td><td>#CITY#</td><td>#VERT#</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">#DETAILS#</td></tr>Then you'll probably want to put something under Column Heading Template, like:
<tr><td>Country</td><td>State</td><td>City</td><td>Vertical Business</td></tr>
<tr><td colspan="4">Details</td></tr>Apply whatever CSS styles you want to it, of course.
Using the template is straightforward: if your report, chose the template, and make sure your SQL returns values using the column names you specified in your template. Otherwise, you'll see literal "#COUNTRY#" text in your report.
You can get fancy with these, of course, such as applying different styles to alternating rows, but I'll leave this as good enough to get you started (I hope).

Web Report - Hide Repeated Values
My web report hides repeated values regardless of the query setting.
Is there any way to set a specific column to not hide repeated values? Using the table API?
Thanks!dear Kenneth,
have you try to remove the check mark of properties 'suppress repeated text' in 'specific' section of your web item 'table' in web template ?
or you can give parameter SUPPRESS_REPETITION_TEXTS for web item 'table' with value blank

Hi,
I am trying to hide the last 5 columns in my report (out of 15) just before the report is rendered. I need to have these 5 columns in my query as I have exceptions defined on them but want to hide them from users. Could you please let me know how I can achieve this in BI7.0 WAD?
Thanks,
PraveenThere are two different steps to be followed.
- First sort all your hidden fields in BEXQuery. Bring all of them either to top or bottom.
- Then In WAD, goto Analysis Item properties, enter 'data column from' and 'data column To values'
Lets say you have 4 hidden fileds then select 'data coumn from' = 4
This way, you can hide the columns in a WAD report.

Custom row-fetch and how to get column values from specific row of report
Hi -- I have a case where a table's primary key has more than 3 columns. My report on the
table has links that send the user to a single-row DML form, but of course the automatic
fetch won't work because 1) I can't set more than 3 item values in the link and 2) the
auto fetch only handles 2 PK columns.
1)
I have written a custom fetch (not sure it's the most elegant, see second question) that is working
for 3 or few PK columns (it references the 1-3 item values set in the link), but when there are
more than 3, I don't know how to get the remaining PK column values for the specific row that was
selected in the report. How can I access that row's report column values? I'll be doing it from the
form page, not the report page. (I think... unless you have another suggestion.)
2)
My custom fetch... I just worked something out on my own, having no idea how this is typically
done. For each dependent item (database column) in the form, I have a source of PL/SQL
function that queries the table for the column in question, using the primary key values. It works
beautifully, though is just a touch slow on my prototype table, which has 21 columns. Is there
a way to manually construct the fetch statement once for the whole form, and have APEX be smart
about what items get what
return values, so that I don't have to write PL/SQL for every item? Because my query data sources
are sometimes in remote databases, I have to write manual fetch and dml anyway. Just would like
to streamline the process.
Thanks,
CarolHI Andy -- Well, I'd love it if this worked, but I'm unsure how to implement it.
It seems I can't put this process in the results page (the page w/ the link, that has multiple report rows), because the link for the row will completely bypass any after-submit processes, won't it? I've tried this in other conditions; I thought the link went directly to the linked-to page.
And, from the test of your suggestion that I've tried, it's not working in the form that allows a single row edit. I tried putting this manually-created fetch into a before header process, and it seems to do nothing (even with a hard-coded PK value, just to test it out). In addition, I'm not sure how, from this page, the process could identify the correct PK values from the report page, unless it can know something about the row that was selected by clicking on the link. It could work if all the PK columns in my edit form could be set by the report link, but sometimes I have up to 5 pk columns.
Maybe part of the problem is something to do with the source type I have for each of the form items. With my first manual fetch process, they were all pl/sql functions. Not sure what would be appropriate if I can somehow do this with a single (page level?) process.
Maybe I'm making this too hard?
Thanks,
Carol -
Report Template href with column value
I have created a Report template and want to have a field that is a href with link to other page passing column value. I'm having trouble passing the column value. FSG report not printing column values on same line but sequentially
FSG report problem:
We have defined 2 FSG reports 'Balance Sheet - Total' and 'Balance Sheet - Detail'. Both reports have 3 column values, namely the value in Euro (our Functional Currency), the value in MUR - Mauritian rupees (our reporting currency) and the rate of exchange.
The report 'Balance Sheet - Total' displays these values for assets e.g.:-
EURO MUR Rate of exchange
Non-current assets
1. Intangible assets ? ? ?
2. Other investments ? ? ?
(note: ? represents a certain value)
The report 'Balance Sheet - Detail' displays values as follows :-
Account EURO MUR Rate of exchange
1. Property & Equipment
A10101 Building Cost ? 0.00 0.0000
A20105 Motor Veh Accum Dep ? 0.00 0.0000
TOTAL ? 0.00 0.0000
A10101 Building Cost 0.00 ? n/m
A20105 Motor Veh Accum Dep 0.00 ? n/m
(note: ? represents a certain value)
What we don't understand s why the 'Balance Sheet - Detail' report repeats the display of column values in MUR FOLLOWING the display in EURO, instead of displaying column values for EURO and MUR on the same line, just like in the case for 'Balance Sheet - Total'.
Is there anything in the definition of column set, row set or report set should I change?
Can anybody help. Thanks.
nullThe problem is related to defining the column set properly. It is OK with the first report and needs modification for the second. Formatting is also important so that they appear in the same line(row). The columns need to be linked to the fileds and assignment to set of books is also important as mentioned by Rajsekhar

How to accessing current row report column value in Lov Query?
Hi,
which access methods (eg. bind variables, substitutions, ...) for getting the current row report column value can be used in the "Lov Query" property of a report column?
As what I know of and what I have read on the forum there are no bind variables for the report columns. For the "Link Text" property it seems that the column values exist as substitution strings (#COLUMN_NAME#). But they don't work in the Lov Query. => And would be good because of a hard parse each time the Lov query is executed.
The following post (Re: Simulating a correlated sub query in lov
is showing a solution to use package variables for temporary storage of the referenced value, but the only problem with that solution is that if a new record is added with the "Add rows to tabular form" process the package variable still contains the value from the last queried row! Is there a way (variable, APEX package, ...) to determine if the lov query is executed for a new record so that the package can return null?
I know that I could write the package in a way that the value is immediately cleared when lov_pkg.keyval is called (one time read), but then I would have to create several variables if I'm accessing the value multiple times in the query or in another query => I think an one time read solution would be very obscurely.
Thanks for your help
Patrick
http://inside-apex.blogspot.comHi Patrick,
I agree that it's a waste to continually use Ajax to go back to the server to get the contents of a dynamic select list.
There are no bind variables for any row item - but what you do have, as per my previous post, is the value of the data entered by the user in the first row. You can pass this into your application process (using get.add("VARIABLENAME", value)), which can use it to retrieve the correct LOV in your Ajax code - this will give you a "bind variable" that your process can use.
What you could do, however, is generate hidden select lists on your page - one for each possible LOV list and replace the contents of the new row's select list with the contents of the appropriate hidden select list. This is easy to do with javascript (using innerHTML functions). Obviously, though, the usefulness of this depends on the number and size of the select lists.
Even if you don't generate them to start with, you can keep a copy of any select lists returned by Ajax in the DOM for use on new rows. So, if you have retrieved a select list, you will have a copy of it in DOM which you can then copy into the new row. If you don't have the list in DOM, use Ajax to get it, store a copy of it and copy it into the new row.
Which method you use will depend on the number/size of select lists needed. If they are few in number and/or size, I would suggest generating hidden lists. If they are large, use Ajax to get them once, store them and then retrieve them from the DOM when needed.
There is another thread here where Arie recommends going to the server every time to make sure you get the most up-to-date data for the lists. If you want to follow this advice, for this reason, use get.add("VARIABLENAME", value) to pass the value to your process. If this is not an issue, you can use one of the other methods I outlined above.

Hello.
Help. Help. Help.
I have to get value from APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY - column on a report.
SELECT DISTINCT ROLE AS GET_ROLE,
JOB AS GET_JOB,
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY
( 1, '%', 'SELECT DISTINCT CODE c,
MODE m
FROM T2
WHERE ROLE = ' || ROLE ) AS GET_CODE
FROM T1
WHERE AGE >30 AND
SEX = 'M' ;
I was trying to use javascript :
for (var i = 0; i < selectlist_name.options.length; i++)
if (selectlist_name.options[ i ].selected)
result=selectlist_name.options;
But I don't know is that correct:
"selectlist_name" - APEX_ITEM.F01
(of my APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY)?Just as a note, but you want to make sure your APEX_ITEM call is closed. The code snippet you posted isn't complete.
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(6,c020, 'select DISTRIBUTION_NAME, DISTRIBUTION_NAME from DISTRIBUTIONS','style="", SEQ_ID <-- No closing )In the documentation - http://www.utoug.org/i/doc/api099.htm - (though it isn't necessarily the easiest to read) it gives this explanation of the syntax:
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(
p_idx IN NUMBER,
p_value IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_query IN VARCHAR2,
p_attributes IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_show_null IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_null_value IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_null_text IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_item_id IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_item_label IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT,
p_show_extra IN VARCHAR2 DEFAULT)
RETURN VARCHAR2;
What you want to look at is p_value to set an initial value. It should come from your data, but you could consider doing an NVL or DECODE to substitute your default.
In this case it would modify your query to be:
SELECT distinct apex_item.hidden(1, seq_id), c003,c004,c005, c006,
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(6,c020, 'select DISTRIBUTION_NAME, DISTRIBUTION_NAME from DISTRIBUTIONS','style=""),
SEQ_ID
FROM APEX_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'ARGYLL_INVOICES'
order by seq_id If the value is always NULL, you can use the p_show_null, p_null_value, and p_null_text to put in a "default"
SELECT distinct apex_item.hidden(1, seq_id), c003,c004,c005, c006,
APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(6,NVL(c020,0), 'select DISTRIBUTION_NAME, DISTRIBUTION_NAME from DISTRIBUTIONS','style="",YES, 100, 'Default'),
SEQ_ID
FROM APEX_collections
WHERE collection_name = 'ARGYLL_INVOICES'
order by seq_id -
How to refresh a report column value alone.
Hi All,
If we have a static report and for one of the columns of report, if I need to give a feature to click on it and a popup appears and there is a checkbox to select values on that popup page and finally after making changes and I press on apply changes, It should close the popup window and then come and change the value of that column alone in original report instead of refreshing the whole page.
The column of the report is of type "Standard Report Column".
How can I achieve this functionality?
