Hide required field

Hi,
I have some users in the system that only has "View" access to Funds. My problem is that these users are not allowed to view the "Target Amount" field on the Funds page. But since "Target Amount" is a required field, it is not possible to hide it in the Page Layout.
Is it possible somehow to hide the field, or even just to hide/clear the amount, for specific users in the system.

Alex: I have tried what you suggested - it would also be my solution to the problem. So, I made a service request to Oracle and got the following reply.
"Target Amount which is a currency field (system built) is not marked as required field in Fund field set up page. I wanted to suggest you to create a new page layout for fund and make the field 'Target Amount' not required by unchecking the checkbox in step 2 of Fund page layout. But, the checkbox gets automatically checked and then grays out making the field a required field in step 2 of new page creation. I am not sure why this field is grayed out and gets marked as required even though in field setup page Required checkbox is not checked for this field. So, after working on this issue, we have determined that we need to move the issue up to a Product Specialist to review and help resolve. At this time we suspect that the problem may need a patch to the product to resolve."
So it seems to be an issue with the product!

Hide a field in ALV "Display Details" list

Hi Experts,
I have a requirment where I have to hide a field in ALV output, as well as in "Details display". I already put NO_OUT = 'X' for that field in fieldcatalog itself. It is hidden in the ALV output anyway, but the problem is when user selects a row and clicks on "Details" button in toolbar of ALV, it still displays the hidden fields of that ALV list with/out headings there.
Hope you understood my problem, pls respond soon if you hav any solution for this?

How to hide the field from the view in the webdynpro application?

Hi Gurus,
I got a requirement where in which ,default layout has the field name Time.......To......... which is (2 input box ) and one lable assigned to the container.........
Now my requirement is to hide this field from the layout for all cases of leave......(all types of leave)....
I got a few inputs from forum that we can achieve this by implementing the following steps..........
Create In context => Value attribute => Say Visibility
Go to its properties
Select com.sap.ide.webdynpro.uielementdefinitions.Visibility
In View Layout
Select UI Element Set Visible property to this context variable Visibility.
In wdDoModifyView() You can set this property to false
wdContext.currentContextElement().setVisibility(false);
Can you people tell me where to create the value attribute........
In the view context or in the component context...........
and field that am talking about is assign to the container you want me to assign this context variable property to all ......Like to input box ,label and the container..........
Please calrify this ASAP...........

As per your guidelines I have created the value attribute in View context (which has the field..... which needs to be hide)inside the value node say FieldVisibility.......and attribute name OldTimeDuration......and I set this value with uidefeneitions Visibility .......
and I bind this vaule with the field property visible(Time.......To..........)which I need to hide...........
Now in the view implementation tab ..........I have coded in the doinit method(since my requirement to hide the field from the layout in all cases).........
wdContext.currentFieldVisibilityElement().setOldTimeDuration(WDVisibility.NONE);
But if I deploy the application and see still am getting the same field dispalying in the screen.........
I even tried putting this code in wdmodifyview method.........same results........
Kindly tell me how to hide the field permenantly from the screen............(without any conditions.)

How i hide a field of a custom view in OAF 11

Hi, im a new developer of OAF11.
What should I do, to customize the Purchase Order screen, if then the requirement is to hide the field that i insert from extended VO.
What I did was modify the XML of the page to add the field and then extended the original AM.
I added the extended view into the custom AM to prevent that fail with the field that i insert.
I must clarify that I modify the path of AM default for the path of the custom AM in the XML, then i upload the XML with the command import, and i see it the field in the page.
I tried to hide another field that i created by customizing the page, but I couldnt do. That´s why i insert directly the field in the XML original.
I Try to customize the driver involved with the page, but nothing happened.
First try it on the controller Father and after the son.
The page is in the POS module (iSupplier), and is POSVIEWPOG (PO Details).
The code that attempts to hide the field is:

Change the Data Type of a Standard Required Field

Hello Experts,
Need to know if is it possible to change the data type of a standard field. The field is marked as a required field.
For example: If a standard field is an Object Picker and I would like to change it to a string field. Is it possible? How can I do it?!

Hi Igor,
Since you cannot hide a required field, what you can do is move the standard required field to someplace less noticable (like the bottom of the page) and then use a validation script to set it to some benign value.

PO requisition personalization Query_Want to hide Supplier field

My client requirement is to hide supplier field in the po requisition form because requstor would not view the list of suppliers names in the LOV.
I have tried to hide the SUPPLIER field but folder menu option is not active, without that i cannot hide the field.
Can any one advise me how to disable the supplier field using form personalization

Object Type - Item
Target Object - LINES.SUGGESTED_VENDOR_NAME
Property Name - Displayed
Value - False
Finally apply the changes and re-open the form.

But i have a create button and cancel button.
After filling the details in the required columns, when i click the create button, if any validation errors are there.. the page is re-rendered. while doing that the hidden items are getting displayed back.
Tried Solutions:
1. I created a same function once more and in the last added the doSubmit('CREATE') and called the script from the create button.
At that time the hidden fields labels are getting displayed.
2. I created a process On load before header To call this script on a condition :REQUEST = 'CREATE'
Then also fruitless..
I hope now it is clear....

Conditionally Required Fields

Basics -
Running LC ES 8.2 and Acrobat 9 Pro and using Acrobat for this form.
Novice/Beginner in JavaScripting as a whole, especially as pertains to PDFs
Situation -
Trying to set up a form wherein a field is required if one option from a combo box is selected and to either be optional or removed otherwise.
I've been trying "if ... else" statements without any luck. The field (AbortRchgSA/#8) is set as Visible and not required by default. The combo box (Mode/#16) is a required field. My attempts have taken two forms.
Form 1:

g.required = true;}
Form 2:
if (this.Field.Mode.value == SA)
this.getField(“AbortRchgSA”) = required;

Any and all help is welcome.

For the second script, rather than removing the field, you should hide it, since you may want it back. You're also using curly quotes, which will cause an error.
Try something like the following as the combo box's custom Validate script:

Hide the field

Hi freinds,
I have to hide a filed in bid invitation cockpitt in the srm portal
the transaction i am using is bbp_bid_inv
for that i checked the badi BBP_UI_CONTROL_BADI and found there is an implementation for this
so i added the required filter BUS2200 in it and kept a break point in method BBP_BID_UI_CTRL
and when i execute the transaction bbp_bid_inv it triggers but vat happened is in srm portal is not working'
when i used the url and logged in its giving me error
if i deleted the filter i added Its working
What was the problem
I think the last option for me is HTML modification (repair)
Can any body explain how to hide the field

Check in your applications, if you have any personalization. It can be done through the combination Personalization and Server Scripts at the Applet level.

How to make the manufacture date as not required field

When upload initial stock, the manufacture date is made as a required field to enter but actually there are no related information for some materials. Is there any configuration to disable this function and make manufacture date field as an optional field?

Hide the field from datasource 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement. Even i search in forum but i couldn't find out...
in data sourct 0EMPLOYEE_ATTR, i want to hide the field ANSAL(Annual Salary). This Data source is populated from the function module HR_BIW_GET_MASTER_DATA. We can hide that field in Extract structure, but i that is a temporary solution.
For permanent solution, I made a structure without the field ANSAL, also i copy the Function module to a new FM. After that i changed the extract structure to my structure name in table parameters. Also i include E_T_DATA without any type.
Now at the time of extraction, it gives an error that 'Errors occured during Extraction'.
Can you please suggest me where i am going wrong and what i have to do??

What are you doing with the new function module?
What will you do with the standard datasource - I dont understand your destination?
Is it not enough to remove the field from the datasource?
-> what is nur problem: somebody can display this field in a datasource?
-> the same person can also active the datasource 0employee_attr. So, you have no solution.
Or you can create autorisation in BW for infoobjects.

T.code VA01, while creation of sale order i want to hide the value of subtotal ( profit margin ) in Pricing condition screen. No predefined condition for this.

Follow the below steps
Step 1:
Execute transaction SHD0 and create a Transaction Variant against the original transaction.
Step 2:
As soon as you press the create button, the original screen of the transaction will appear. After pressing any button/tab on the screen a menu variant screen will appear. Make sure to check any field or tab or any button you want to disappear from the menu functions. Press the exit and save button when you are sure that no further settings are required on sub-screens (if present). After pressing the exit and save button another menu variant screen will appear. Press the save button here and save as a local object or under any development class.
Step 3:
When you are back on the Transaction Variant (SHD0) screen, press shift+F6 or click the goto menu and press the create variant transaction button. Through this transaction SE93 will be executed. Enter the transaction name you want to create and any other required field and now press the save button.
Step 4. Activate Standard variant Path: SHD0 ( initial screen) --> --> Activate standard variant --activate.
This will make the variant created by you as the default and active variant.
Step 5. [VA01] - create Sales order -- the required field would be mandatory.

I'm tearing my hair out with this one. Have checked all the fields to confirm if I had set the Type as User Entered - Required. Can't find any such field. Any help would be appreciated. Is there an email id where I can send the form?

In your script when you make an object visible, you also make it mandatory. No problem there!
However the script that hides the object goes through this sequence:
hide the object, THEN
make it optional/not mandatory.
This is where the problem lies.
You FIRST need to make the object optional/not mandatory AND THEN hide the object. It should just be a simple case of work through the various scripts and having the mandatory line before the presence line.

Tab with required fields forms

Hi,
I'm using tabs (paneltabbed) to show and hide 5 diferent forms. When I'm seeing forms withour required fileds I can switch between forms without any problem but when I'm seeing forms that have required fields I get the message that the field is required when I try to change the form.
My question is there are any way to define that the paneltabbed doesn't summit the form?

Hide infotype field

Hi Gurus,
I want to hide some field from standard infotype. I couldn't use V_T588M customizing table for SLCM object.
Is there a customizing step for this process?

Hi Treasureman,
V_T588M cannot be used for SLcM, only for HCM screens.
For the HR-PD screens you should change the coding of the screens (will require developer key). You should change module pool 170400 and screen 2000 via lay out and then the screen painter.
For the BP related screens you can use the IMG customizing to hide fields.
