Hiding a column in BSP based on user

Hi,
I have a requirement in which user enters into PCUI Screen in EP Portal where there is button which displays a BSP Page. Now depending on user the page should differ. i.e if user is manager he should see a different page on clicking the
button and if user is engineer he should see a different page on clicking the same button.
Can anyone suggest how can i achieve this?
Thanks and Regards,
Sneha Puppala.

Hi, I would suggest to options here.
1. Using Authorization object: Create the Roles for Manager & Employee etc
  AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'YOUR_MANAGER'
           ID 'USER_NAME' FIELD SY-UNAME
           ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '03'.
if sy-subrc EQ 0.
Show some pages
else.
  AUTHORITY-CHECK OBJECT 'YOUR_EMPLOYEE'
           ID 'USER_NAME' FIELD SY-UNAME
           ID 'ACTVT' FIELD '03'.
if sy-subrc EQ 0.
Show some pages
ENDIF.
endif.
Option2: Create your custom table & maintain the user id & roles. Before you display the page, read the table show the corresponding pages.

  • Showing/Hiding Dashboard Prompts dynamically based on User logged on

    Hi
I have query reg a showing/hiding dashboard prompts based on Users logged in.
    What is the best way???
    Please help
    And also anothe quick question
Is there a way that we can change the Label of Dashboard prompt "ABC" for few users and "DEF" for other users
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

    Hello,
Using guided navigation properties for section, we can achieve your first requirement.
How many prompts to be shown?
depends on that number, you have to create those many reports in answers like,
take one column to criteria and change functionaityt to case when 1=0 then Markets. Region else user() end
apply filter on this equals to UserA (for userA), say ReportA
for UserB filter has to change to UserB, say ReportB...etc
Now, add all the prompts to dashboard, but each section (dashboard object) for each prompt.
Go to section properties of each and select guided navigation property. The section which is holding the PromptA (should be shown to userA) then browse the reportA for guided navigation and click ok
LIke this do for all prompts.
    Hope you understood...
    if any queries ask me..
And for 2nd Q, in prompt, you have Select captio option which is the last option for all prompts,
    Write something there and check

    You cannot add columns dynamically. But you can define a maximum number of numbers and then hide unused columns in your form useing SET_ITEM_PROPERTY(..,VISIBLE, PROPERTY_FALSE);

  • Displaying columns based on User Input

    Hi,
    I have a following requirement :
I have four columns in a report : Performance Indicator ,Target (XTD) , Actual (XTD),Indicator(Traffic Lights)
Based on the prompt, which contains column named as "Review Frequency" having values as 1. Monthly 2. Quaterly 3. Yearly.
When User select "Monthly" in pormpt I want to see MTD in Actual and Target column and Indicator depending on these columns.
When User select "Quaterly" in pormpt I want to see QTD in Actual and Target column and Indicator depending on these columns.
Can anybody tell me how can we achieve this?
I think I can achieve this with guided navigation but for that I have to create 3 reports.
Can anybody have any better idea to create just one report and based on user input I can show/hide columns in a single report?
This is mainly related to Balanced ScoreCard.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Vikas

you have seperate columns for monthly, quarterly, and yearly, right?
    In the prompt, save the "Review Frequency" as a Presentation Variable "abc";
In the request, you add actual (MTD) column, edit the formula, use something like:
    CASE
    WHEN @{abc}='Monthly' THEN "- SalesFacts"."actual (MTD)"
    WHEN @{abc}='Quarterly' THEN "- SalesFacts"."actual (QTD)"
    ELSE "- SalesFacts"."actual (YTD)"
    END
then do the same thing for target column.

  • Displaying columns based on user parameter

    Hello Experts,
My oracle apps version is R12.1.3
    and database is 11g
    and below is my Question?
How can we display columns in a report based on user parameter.
Suppose my report has 15 columns but some user dont need all this 15 columns, so before getting the output user wants to give parameter for that report and then report will give output for only those columns which user had given in parameter window.
I think i clear my point here. Any help could be very much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Atul

What if you have 15 parameters such as
    Display onhand (Yes/no)
    Display item description (yes /no)
    etc.
And then in the report, have a trigger associated with each column (as well as heading) that returns false if the parameter is No.
    Hope this helps,

  • Stop user hiding IR column (version 3.1)

    Hi,
I have an interactive report, the first column of which displays a checkbox using apex_item.checkbox
In Report Attributes/Allow Users To..... I have deselected every option, but when the report runs there is still a hyperlink on the column header that allows the user to hide the column. I'm sure I remember finding a thread in here a while ago which had a piece of javascript that stopped the user from being able to do this, but I can't find it.
Has anyone got a solution for this (version is 3.1)
    Thanks,

  • Changing the Column Header and Hiding the Column dynamically???

    Hi friends..
I'm new to OBIEE field. I'm working in a OBIEE project that requires to dynamically change the column header, and dynamically hide the column depending on the prompt value.
I know we can dynamically change the table header using the presentation variable but I couldn't do that same thing with column header.
I searched some forums that suggest to use java script for this purpose but I'm not able to do the same also. If anyone had same issue before please help.

toony, I'm not sure it's possible to do all that you want exactly the way you want, but here are some ideas you can pursue.
To dynamically change column headers without javascript, check this blog out...
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/oracle-bi-ee-101332-dynamic-column-headers-using-presentation-variables-sets-and-conditional-formatting/
As far as dynamically hiding a column, I don't think you can do this, but since you don't provide any details on how the PV is supposed to hide a column based on the value, are you talking about hiding a column for one PV value and another (different) column for a different PV value? Or are you talking about hiding one column when a PV has certain values and displaying it when the PV has a different set of values?
I have managed to create both scenarios via a work-around, but the procedures require some writing so I don't want to put both. Please detail how you want your PV to "hide" a column or columns.
P.S. I don't think column selectors will do the trick for you. Basically column selectors work like this: Say you have a report using Sales Region ID, Region Name, and Sales. Now let's say you want the user to choose if he/she wants to see annual sales, or quarter sales or weekly sales, etc. The column selector view would allow you to put the various columns (Year Sales, Quarter Sales, Weekly Sales) as an option the user can select. Once selected, the sales figure will change for the time period selected. For an example of how this is done, check out the section in this "Oracle by Example" link.
Waited too long to publish this... Madan beat me to it, so there is some overlap here...

  • Grouping of data based on user prompt having a list of dimensions

    Hi All,
I have a requirement to be able to group data in OBIEE request or Dashboard based on user prompt selection.
The prompt should list the Dimensions Available
    e.g.
    Dimensions: Product, Region, Employee
    Fact: Sales
The report is to display sales total for the quarters of the current year.
The user prompt should list the available dimensions (In this case - Location, Employee and Product).
If I choose Product, the data is to be grouped by Products - Layout having a simple tabular grouping with Product names as Group headings.
Similarly any other choice of Dimension from the prompt should group the data by that dimension and have the dimension values used in the group headings.
How could we implement this? I understand this type of requirement (ability to choose dimension) is met in some OLAP reporting tools.
I have used multiple views and the View Selector for similar requirements previously, but looking for a dynamic solution here.
Any pointers or solution will be great.
    Thanks,

  • Hiding the column data. What is the point of DBMS_CRYPTO package?

    DB version:10g R2
A requirement has come where we need to hide some columns' data from end users.
Trasparent Data Encryption feature wouldn't do the trick as it encrypts the data only at the storage level not at user level.
I've seen PL/SQL codes using DBMS_CRYPTO which encrypts and decrypts input strings like the code mentioned in
Re: Need some hints on using dbms_crypto
What is point of these PL/SQL codes?
They can only be used to create functions which will be called in VIEWS. That is the only use of DBMS_CRYPTO package. Right?
Do you guys have any suggestion in hiding/obfuscating column data? Is creating a view my only option?

One solution to "hide" data (columns or rows) from end users is simply to create a view.
The end user will be granted only access to the view and not to the base tables behind the view. The view will only expose those cloumns and rows that the end users is supposed to see.
Of cause this has nothing to do with encryption. But I don't see anything in your business requirements that needs to use encryption methods.

  • Output different data based on user select

    Hi everyone,
Quick question, I would like to output different report columns based on user select, eg., users would be presented with two choices in a radiobutton list, eg., 1 and 2.
    I have query results that contain columns A, B, C, D, E, F, G.
If user selects 1 then the output should be columns A, B, C, D, E.
If user selects 2 then the output should be columns A, B, C, F, G.
I am sure this is possible and easy? If so, what topic should I be reading/searching internet on?
    Please advise.
    Thanks!

I would say that this is most often something that your user interface should be dealing with (i.e. which columns should be shown).
There is no way to do that in SQL.
In PL/SQL it is a simple situation of creating two cursors and simply deciding which one to open.
    <pre>declare
    l_cur sys_refcursor;
    begin
    if :user_selection = 1 then
    open l_cur for select A, B, C, D, E from tbl;
    else
    open l_cur for select A, B, C, F, G from tbl;
    end if;
    -- use the cursor
close l_cur; -- or return to user interface
    end;
    /</pre>
    Hope this helps.

  • How to report with different time zone dynamically based on user's account?

    Hello
I am wondering is there a way to change the report's date & time data based on user's locale setting in OBIEE?
Let's say the user log in to OBIEE with eastern time zone setting. The data that's in the database is storing a transaction of $400 at 1am Pacific time.
So when this user run a query which does something like 'select date, transaction, amount from date, transaction, sales where this = that', it should display the $400 amount done at 4am eastern time instead of 1am pst.
What I have done is to have data stores in date dimension to be UTC time, and I have also changed the data type of the date column to be 'local time zone'. DB is Oracle DB 11G now.
Now this query works perfectly well in the DB as long as I run the following commend first:
Alter session set time zone = 'whatever my time zone'
    and then
    Select date, transaction from tables..
The date displayed will automatically be converted into different time zone..
Since everything is working nicely from Oracle DB level, I need to know how to make it work when OBIEE sends the same query down to the DB..
I know that, probably I will have to enter the above alter session commend in the connection pool, however, I can't hardcode the time zone value.
I also don't want to store user's time zone in the user table because these users travels a lot. So even if his table setting is EST, but at a given day he can be traveling to pst time zone and view reports.
Is there a way to dynamically set the time zone based on user's account locale setting?
Let me know if you guys have implemented something similar or not
    Thanks

    garuda wrote:
    Hello Sarvan
I have already done that part at the DB level and it is working perfectly with alter session commend before the query.
My question is, how do I configure OBIEE so that before each user runs a report from BI, the alter session commend will be fired with each user's personal locale time zone setting passed through so that each user will be able to view data according to their different time zone?did you tried with Connection scripts(Execute On connect) in Connection pool.write ur Alter commend to Change Time Zone in this script box.

  • Navigation link based on user

    Hi All,
I would like to give the navigation to column based on users login in a dashboard report. Suppose I have 5 users. 2 Should have navigation and 3 shouldn't have navigation when they login.
Could anybody suggest on this how to achieve? I'm using obiee 11.1.1.6.

Open Column properties -> 'Interaction' tab.
Add new action link to one of two interactions (for column heading or value)
and choose in radio-button 'Show link' value 'Conditionally' - you can add any dummy condition... it's no matter.
After all - select 'Advanced' tab of your answer.
Look at Analysis XML and search tags of dummy condition. Replace it with something like this:
    <saw:condition>
                               <sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:list" op="in">
                                  <sawx:expr xsi:type="sawx:sqlExpression">'@{session.currentUser}'</sawx:expr>
                                  <sawx:expr xsi:type="xsd:string">weblogic</sawx:expr>
<sawx:expr xsi:type="xsd:string">demo</sawx:expr></sawx:expr></saw:condition> Press button 'Aplly XML'
This is example of conditions for enabling navigate link only for 'weblogic' and 'demo' users. You can extend it.
