Stop user hiding IR column (version 3.1)

Hi,
I have an interactive report, the first column of which displays a checkbox using apex_item.checkbox
In Report Attributes/Allow Users To..... I have deselected every option, but when the report runs there is still a hyperlink on the column header that allows the user to hide the column. I'm sure I remember finding a thread in here a while ago which had a piece of javascript that stopped the user from being able to do this, but I can't find it.
Has anyone got a solution for this (version is 3.1)
Thanks,
Mike

  • Hiding the column data. What is the point of DBMS_CRYPTO package?

    DB version:10g R2
A requirement has come where we need to hide some columns' data from end users.
Trasparent Data Encryption feature wouldn't do the trick as it encrypts the data only at the storage level not at user level.
I've seen PL/SQL codes using DBMS_CRYPTO which encrypts and decrypts input strings like the code mentioned in
Re: Need some hints on using dbms_crypto
What is point of these PL/SQL codes?
They can only be used to create functions which will be called in VIEWS. That is the only use of DBMS_CRYPTO package. Right?
Do you guys have any suggestion in hiding/obfuscating column data? Is creating a view my only option?

One solution to "hide" data (columns or rows) from end users is simply to create a view.
The end user will be granted only access to the view and not to the base tables behind the view. The view will only expose those cloumns and rows that the end users is supposed to see.
Of cause this has nothing to do with encryption. But I don't see anything in your business requirements that needs to use encryption methods.

  • Changing the Column Header and Hiding the Column dynamically???

    Hi friends..
I'm new to OBIEE field. I'm working in a OBIEE project that requires to dynamically change the column header, and dynamically hide the column depending on the prompt value.
I know we can dynamically change the table header using the presentation variable but I couldn't do that same thing with column header.
I searched some forums that suggest to use java script for this purpose but I'm not able to do the same also. If anyone had same issue before please help.

toony, I'm not sure it's possible to do all that you want exactly the way you want, but here are some ideas you can pursue.
To dynamically change column headers without javascript, check this blog out...
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2008/01/25/oracle-bi-ee-101332-dynamic-column-headers-using-presentation-variables-sets-and-conditional-formatting/
As far as dynamically hiding a column, I don't think you can do this, but since you don't provide any details on how the PV is supposed to hide a column based on the value, are you talking about hiding a column for one PV value and another (different) column for a different PV value? Or are you talking about hiding one column when a PV has certain values and displaying it when the PV has a different set of values?
I have managed to create both scenarios via a work-around, but the procedures require some writing so I don't want to put both. Please detail how you want your PV to "hide" a column or columns.
P.S. I don't think column selectors will do the trick for you. Basically column selectors work like this: Say you have a report using Sales Region ID, Region Name, and Sales. Now let's say you want the user to choose if he/she wants to see annual sales, or quarter sales or weekly sales, etc. The column selector view would allow you to put the various columns (Year Sales, Quarter Sales, Weekly Sales) as an option the user can select. Once selected, the sales figure will change for the time period selected. For an example of how this is done, check out the section in this "Oracle by Example" link.
Waited too long to publish this... Madan beat me to it, so there is some overlap here...

  • Hiding few columns before displaying alv grid output

    Hi All,
I struck up at hiding few columns before displaying alv output. I have used used FM: REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY. By using this i am displaying 29 fields to the output. But before displaying the output i want to hide few columns among them, and also those fields have to be avialable for further selection by the user by using layout.
    Kindly help me in this,
    Regards
    Srinivas K

    Hi,
In field catalog set NO_OUT='X' for all the columns you want to hide. They will be available when changing layout for ALV, so you can show them at any time.

  • Updating a JTable by hiding/displaying columns

I have a customizable JTable where I display/hide columns according to a users' selection criteria. My code works fine for hiding/displaying columns if the Jtable is opened for the fist time, but doesnot work if I want to hide columns in already displayed table. How do I do it?? Any clue?? I tried
    myTabModel.fireTableDataChanged();
but this only works for updating the table data...it does not hide columns for me... when I hide column I just remove desired column like this:
    myTable.removeColumn(myTable.getColumn("Column 3"));

Here is the sample code I tried. It worked without any invalidate or repaint or updateUI(). generated using NetBeans

  • Stopping Users from Web Surfing Externally Using IE?

We have a lot of legacy internal application that can only be accessed using IE.
Due to the recent Microsoft announcement concerning IE versions and support/patching. We want to stop users from surfing externally using IE, is there a policy setting (or proxy config, host file mod etc.) that we can use to force this?

    Hello,
block your firewall for port 80/443 explicit and then open only required ports for your requirements.
For controlling internet access you have the need for proxy server. A free proxy server is SQUID

In this iam created one transaction varient n one Screen varient.iam not able to activate that screen varient and iwant to assing to perticular users. But i have a option in 4.7 above version my client is using 4.6C version. Please give me the solution as need full.

    Hi,
Use the PPM toolkit class CL_CRM_PPM_UM_TOOLKIT. You can use the method You can use the method GET_ASSIGNMENTS_OF_USER which returns positions held by an user(user name).  You may also find the method GET_POSITION_OF_USER useful. It accepts username and the organization ID and will return the positions held by the user under that organization.
This class always uses the current plan (01). If you want otherwise, you can use the FM RH_STRUC_GET. As to how this FM should be used, look inside the above said methods.

  • Anyconnect 3.1 Captive Portal False Alert Stops Users Connecting.

    Hi All,
I am having problems with a customer's ASA 5505 with Anyconnect 3.1 - it is generating captive portal false-alerts which are stopping users from connecting.
This issue began when I upgraded from Anyconnect 2.4 to 3.1, and it appears like this: A user downloads and installs the Anyconnect client and is able to connect fine, to begin with. However, once they reboot their computer and try to reconnect, the VPN session will not come up and they receive the error message below.
"The service provider in your current location is restricting access to the internet. You need to log on with the service provider before you can establish a VPN session. You can try this by visiting any website with your browser."
Reading other posts, it seems this message appears when a captive portal is restricting internet access. It must be a false alert in this case as there is nothing of the sort here. Apparently, Anyconnect 3.1 can generate a false alert like so if the name of the firewall's SSL certificate doesn't match the CName listed on the Client Profile. I've set this up to match, to no avail.
Although users can connect by reauthenticating through the SSL VPN login web page, I am stumped as to how to get rid of this captive portal error that pops up when they try to use the Anyconnect client.
Any advice would be appreciated, just let me know what extra details to post if needed.
    Many thanks,
    Josh Campbell

    Hi Joshua,
The below information could be located at
    www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/vpn_client/anyconnect/anyconnect31/administration/guide/ac03vpn.html
    False Captive Portal Detection
AnyConnect can falsely assume it is in a captive portal in the following situations.
•If AnyConnect attempts to contact an ASA with a certificate containing an incorrect server name (CN), then the AnyConnect client will think it is in a "captive portal" environment.
To prevent this, make sure the ASA certificate is properly configured. The CN value in the certificate must match the name of the ASA server in the VPN client profile.
•If there is another device on the network before the ASA, and that device responds to the client's attempt to contact an ASA by blocking HTTPS access to the ASA, then the AnyConnect client will think it is in a "captive portal" environment. This situation can occur when a user is on an internal network, and connects through a firewall to connect to the ASA.
If you need to restrict access to the ASA from inside the corporation, configure your firewall such that HTTP and HTTPS traffic  to the ASA's address does not return an HTTP status. HTTP/HTTPS access to the ASA should either be allowed or completely  blocked (also known as black-holed) to ensure that HTTP/HTTPS requests sent
There is also a bug filed for this. Just for your reference,
    CSCud17825 - Anyconnect captive portal

  • Hiding table columns dynamiclly

    Hello experts.
I'm trying to build a wizard which presents a simple query, one of the steps of the wizard is letting the user choose which columns he wants to see in the table at the end (the table is connected to the query).
When I deploy the model, If i submit the query (the submit is an action of the input field in the input form), there is no affect to the columns chosen. If i skip the submit (with a button) i see only the columns which were chosen.
Is there a way to solve it? is there a way to solve it through the webapi and i can, how?
    thankl you.
    Motty

    Dear Motty,
I am sending a solution to see if I understood your question. If helps you I will post this as a Wiki.
'How user can choose columns displayed in a Visual Composer table'
    1. In a Form add 'Checkboxes',as many as you want
    Form:
        CHECK1
        CHECK2
       CHECK3
    2. Youe table would have the following columns
    Table:
        Column1
        Column2
        Column2
    3. At Properties>General tab>Hidden of each Column drag Check1 to the formula stage and makes each different of 'true'. It will look like this:
    #ID[ACAPV6]@CHECK1<>true
Repeat this for CHECK2 and CHECK3
    4. At 'Visibility Condition' of your table drag your three checkboxes making them '==true' and using OR between them. This would hide your table when you first lauch your application:
    #ID[+++++]@CHECK1==true OR #ID[++]@CHECK2==true OR #ID[++++]@BOOL3==true
Lauch your application and checkbox one or all to see how your columns are shown or not.

  • 64,000 character limit on UDT user defined field column

    Hey All.
We are storing more then 64,000 characters into a UDT user defined field column as it stores a large XML document. How can I retreive this information from the UDT using the DI API? Everytime I try to do this using either the UDT object or SAP recordset it chops off the data to 64000 characters. The UDF was created as a "TEXT" type using B1 client and when I look in the database it has a datatype of NTEXT.
Is this a bug or is there no way using DI API to retreive all the data?

    Curtis,
Apologies for my delay in getting back to you.
I do not know the reasoning behind the limit.  As far as 2007A is concerned, the documentation that I was looking at when I first responded to your question was the 2007A SDK Help documentation, so I would say it is the same in 2007.
I believe that you can use ADO to access data in SAP Business One as there are other ISV's that use ADO, just not access via stored procedures directly to the Business One database.  ADO and ODBC connectivity have rules in place for data validation, although it is recommended that you use the Business One API's for data access as much as possible.  You could also store data in your own tables in a separate database and retrieve from there.

  • How can i stop user to get the same screen while entering same T code

    hi experts,
how can i stop user to get the same screen while entering same T code (_Means i want user enter same t code but got different different screen how it is possible.)_
i want to know how can we set a authorization is such a manner ...
Through different different login id user got different different screen while entering same T-code.
for example if there is two functional login id mum & noida...
then user login through that and
enter any same functional tcode (for getting purchase order)
but get different different window...so how come it is possible.....
    plz explain in brief
thanks in advance...plz do reply as soon as possible

For a custom transaction this is easy, you need to ask your developers to be able to direct users to different screens based on the results of an authorisation check.  You could have an auth field e.g. ZSCREEN which is checked in the program & decides what screen the user has access to.
For standard transactions, unless already coded, I would forget it & do what is recommended by Subramaniam and create transaction variants as required.  Assign each variant to a custom t-code and users access it that way.
What I am interested is is why do you want to do this?

  • Cannot stop users disabling WiFi

Users who are not local administrators and via the control panel cannot do so can disable the WiFi via the sidebar BS in Windows 8.1. This is costing us large amounts of time supporting customers and talking through remotely re-enabling or leading to confusion
for us attempting to troubleshoot issues - There are now 3 places (control panel, sidebar, physical switch and/or keyboard shortcut) to go through.
Why is this possible to do when the users are no local administrators and should not have that access? They receive a UAC prompt when attempting to do the exact same thing in Control Panel.
How do we stop users exploiting yet another ignored bug from Microsoft?

    Hi
Are they part of any administrator groups on the machine?
The other alternative is using a GPO to "remove" the feature from the computer but i guess they need to be on your network for that to work.
