Hiding output report columns in VA05

Hi all,
I wish to hide some of the columns in the output report of VA05. The users of that report are not supposed to be allowed to unhide them (so I think the layout function is not applicable then unless there's way to block them from choosing layout for VA05 report only)
Can anybody suggest some of the ways to do that?
Thanks
Rgds

Hi TY Ng,
There r two ways of doing this:
1.Create a layout which is to be used by those users and ask your basis consultant to restrict those users to modify that layout.
2.Ask your abaper to develop a report similar to VA05 with the specified columns as desired by the management.I suggest you use the second option as it would be easier for you and for your users also to handle this situation.

  • BI Publisher -RTF Template issue: Output report not maintaining text with bullets and numberings.

    Hi All,
    I am currently working with generating reports using BI Publisher. My issue is that when I will preview the output(in PDF and RTF) format's  of the newly created template, then, if the data coming from DB have some bullets or numbering, then the BI publisher output will ignore the same and will show the complete data as one single line.
    For example if the data in the DB Field is like below:
    The XYZ has the below sub-parts:
    ABC : This again has two parts:
    abc1
    abc2
    CDE
    FGH
    Then  this data will appear as below in the BI Publisher output report's:
    The XYZ has the below sub-parts: •   ABC : This again has two parts:  o     abc1  o   abc2   •    CDE    •   FGH
    I want the format of the data (with bullets and number's) should be maintained in the BI Publisher Report as well, but I am unable to find any solution for the same.
    Any help on the same is much appreciated.

    in your query will u get all the columns always null when column1 is null
    in your template for each group u can write like below
    think G_1 as group in your xml
    <?for-each:G_1[COLUMN1!='']?><?COLUMN1?><?COMMENTS?><?end for each?>
    or if u are not sure u get null in both places every time u can write like below
    <?for-each:G_1[COLUMN1!='' and COMMENTS!='']?><?COLUMN1?><?COMMENTS?><?end for each?>

  • How to use the prompt value in the report column

    Hi
    I have a report prompt column which is 'Adj Type' which holds values 10,20,30 and when user selects Adj Type = 10 then this value should be passed to report column.
    For Eg. Column 1 value is 10 and this should multiple with prompt value and the output should be 10* 10.
    Any thoughts how to capture the prompt values in report column for calculation.

    hi hsekar,
    1) Declare a presentation variable in prompt under the Set Variable section -->Presentation Variable -->P_var
    2) In Fx Table_name.Your_column * @{P_Var}
    @{P_var}{20} ( 20 is default value it will override when a user selects value in prompt

  • How to generate a second csv file with different report columns selected?

    Hi. Everybody:
    How to generate a second csv file with different report columns selected?
    The first csv file is easy (report attributes -> report export -> enable CSV output Yes). However, our users demand 2 csv files with different report columns selected to meet their different needs.
    (The users don't want to have one csv file with all report columns included. They just want to get whatever they need directly, no extra columns)
    Thank you for any help!
    MZ

    Hello,
    I'm doing it usually. Typically example would be in the report only the column "FIRST_NAME" and "LAST_NAME" displayed whereas
    in the csv exported with the UTL_FILE the complete address (street, housenumber, additions, zip, town, state ... ) is written, these things are needed e.g. the form letters.
    You do not need another page, just an additional button named e.g. "export_to_csv" on your report page.
    The csv export itself is handled from a plsql procedure "stored procedure" ( I like to have business logic outside of apex) which is invoked by pressing the button "export_to_csv". Of course the stored procedure can handle also parameters
    An example code would be something like
    PROCEDURE srn_brief_mitglieder (

  • Implicit date format conversion of report column

    ThanksThe reason might be that you compare different datatypes in the SQL statement. The output of decode depends on those parameters.
    You can cast the column to a specific datatype or you make sure that your wanted datatype is used during the decode.
    example
    decode(end_date, to_timestamp_tz('31.12.2047', 'dd.mm.yyyy'), null, end_date) closed
    or
    cast(decode(end_date, to_date('31.12.2047', 'dd.mm.yyyy'), null, end_date) as timestamp(0) with local time zone) closed

  • SQL Report columns formatting

    Hi Everyone,
    I've got a basic report with a column that is a concatenation of other columns (used for break formatting), and I want to give the effect that there are still separate 'columns' in the concatenation. I've tried using CHR(9) and RPAD in the SQL query to add the 'whitespace' but as soon as Apex gets hold of it, the extra spaces are removed and I'm left with only a single space.
    It does the same thing when the "Display As" value is changed to either "standard report column", or any of the "Display as text" types.
    Any ideas? This is apex 4.0.0
    Thanks!

    I've got a basic report with a column that is a concatenation of other columns (used for break formatting), and I want to give the effect that there are still separate 'columns' in the concatenation. I've tried using CHR(9) and RPAD in the SQL query to add the 'whitespace' but as soon as Apex gets hold of it, when the browser renders the output in accordance with the HTML spec the extra spaces are removed and I'm left with only a single space.The HTML specification instructs user agents to collapse white space characters, so spaces and ASCII tabs in options will be treated as a single space.
    In a standard report use
    <li><tt>white-space: pre</tt> in the CSS Style property for a CSS approach
    or
    <li>The HTML Expression property for a <tt>&lt;pre&gt;</tt> HTML wrapper (ensuring the Display Text As column attribute is Standard Report Column rather than the default Display as Text (escape special characters) ):
    <pre>#COLUMN_NAME#</pre>Better still, create a custom report template using suitable mark-up so that there are "separate columns" in the report.

  • Dynamic report columns in parameterized report

    Hi all,
    Just wanted to share some ideas... I was looking for a way to allow users to seect which columns to display in a parameterized report.
    I came across Denes Kubicek's solution on his APEX demo site (the "Pick Columns" page)... works beautifully.
    The only problem I had was that some of the report columns required joins to other tables. (up to 5 left outer joins). Could not figure out how to do this based on Denes sample solution. I then thought of creating a view, which joined all the required fields for output. I then run my report against the view... this works even better.
    I also used a shuttle instead of a multi-select list, since I have about 25 columns to pick from... I find the shuttle a lot more flexible (re-ordering of columns etc..)
    One thing I still haven't figured out yet though, is how to make the columns sortable? If I check off the sort check box on the report atttributes for the generic "col0"... I get an oracle error...
    If anyone has figured this one out, please let me know..
    Thanks to Denes for the solution...
    Stephane

    Actually, getting the error, albeit intermittently...
    Here is the SQL debug output

    failed to parse SQL query:
    ORA-01785: ORDER BY item must be the number of a SELECT-list expressionFor some reason, in the order by it puts 4,1... but I only have 3 columns in my select list...
    If I choose an additional column, then the query works. I'm also confused as to why it sorts on the 1st column as well? In my report attributes, I do not specify a sort sequence, so I figure it would simply sort on the chosen column index.
    This query used was working fine yesterday with one or two columns...
    Any ideas?

  • Interactive report column filters to display differently than column values

    Greetings...
    We use images a lot in our interactive reports to provide a visual representation to a status, or something locked for update, or what-have-you. By default, when a user clicks the column heading of a column which contains images, the drop-down list that shows up displays the actual images, which is nice for the user to identify exactly which thing they want to filter on. The problem is when the user selects on of the options in the filtering drop-down, the resulting condition that is displayed under the interactive report search bar is the HTML code of the image. I'd like something else to display there because showing the user the HTML code is atrocious.
    I didn't think what I want is possible, but then I came across the Page Locks page within ApEx (page 4000:291 in ApEx 4.0.1) which displays a list of all the pages of an application and whether they are locked or not. It also allows you to bulk lock or bulk unlock a bunch of pages. That page uses an interactive report with a column called "Status" which contains images that represent whether the page is locked or not. When you click the "Status" column heading to filter, instead of seeing the images of an open and closed lock, you see the words "Page Locked" and "Page Unlocked." And even better... when you select on of them, the condition that is displayed to the user is very user-friendly.
    Can someone tell me how this is done so I can replicate it in my own apps?
    Shane.

    Why not create the IR using the text you require e.g. 'Lock', 'Unlock' and then use JQuery to replace the text in the report with the image you want. All the filters should then show the plain text and the report will display the image. e.g.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46801:1
    Here's what I did:
    Firstly make sure the IR has a region template.
    Then create a Dynamic Action with the following attributes:
    1. Advanced
    2. Event: After Refresh
    3. Selection Type: Region
    4. Region: [select the IR Region]
    5. Action: Execute JS Code
    6. Fire on page load: [checked]
    7. Code:
    $('td [headers="TEST"]').each(function(index) {
      if ($(this).text() == 'Lock') {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/locked_small.gif" alt="Lock" />');
      else {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/unlocked_small.gif" alt="Unlock" />');
    });Where TEST is the column name.
    That's it, this may also be of interest:

  • Display an alert message through javascript when report column item is null

    Hello,
    I have a report column item which is an select list item and now i want to display an alert message when value is null, I mean no value is selected, this alert message should be fired when update button is clicked.
    Can anyone please help me with this issue.
    Thanks,
    Orton

    You could try something like this:
    declare
      x        INTEGER;
      err_ct  INTEGER   := 0;
    begin
      x  := 5;  -- number of rows displayed
      for i in 1 ... x (
        IF wwv_flow.g_f08(i)) IS NULL THEN err_ct  := err_ct + 1;
        END IF;
      end loop;
      IF err_ct = 0 THEN
         RETURN NULL;
      ELSE
        RETURN 'Nice error message: you must supply a value.';
      END IF;This would be used with a PL/SQL validation: Function Returning Error Text.

  • Cannot edit a field that is "Standard Report Column" when new row added

    Hi everyone,
    I have created a master-detail form from the wizard and within the detail report region source I have used apex_item.xxx API
    example;
    select C1, C2,
    CASE when C2 ='N' then
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(3, C3,'select a1 d, a2 r from table1', 'ENABLED', 'NO',null,null, 'f03_#ROWNUM#')
    else
    apex_item.select_list_from_query(3, C3,'select a1 d, a2 r from table1', 'DISABLED', 'NO',null,null, 'f03_#ROWNUM#')
    END C3
    from table;
    All columns C1,C2,C3 are defined as "Standard Report Columns".
    The results allows the column C3 field to be enabled or disabled for input depending on a condition.
    The problem is when you hit the default button "Add Row" to add a new row. The row is non-editable and is populated with null values.
    What I want is to allow input when a new row is inserted into the multi-row detail form.
    Can any one help?
    Is there a way to change the Display As field for the new row columns to "text field" from "standard report column" dynamically?

    I think you will need to use the old way of adding rows instead of the new one. I remember having headaches trying to get it working.

    Note: When I am sending the mail,in similar way, with 'PDF' attachement it is perfectly fine and the attachement is opening correctly.
    Please help me.

    The error message is as follows
    Microsoft Office Excel cannot access the file "https://xxxxxxx/Inbox/XXBG_PO_RPT.xls.
    There are several possible reasons:
    --The file path doesnot exist.
    --The file is being used by another program.
    --The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.
    After throwing the error, it open s a balck excel sheet.
    Hi hsawwan,
    I have gone through the thread. I am able to see the report when I click the output tab on the concurrent request screen.
    But the problem is, when I am sending the output report as an excel attachment then I am facing the problem.
    There might be some problem with uuenocde or mailx command.
    Thanks

  • How to accessing current row report column value in Lov Query?

    Hi,
    which access methods (eg. bind variables, substitutions, ...) for getting the current row report column value can be used in the "Lov Query" property of a report column?
    As what I know of and what I have read on the forum there are no bind variables for the report columns. For the "Link Text" property it seems that the column values exist as substitution strings (#COLUMN_NAME#). But they don't work in the Lov Query. => And would be good because of a hard parse each time the Lov query is executed.
    The following post (Re: Simulating a correlated sub query in lov
    is showing a solution to use package variables for temporary storage of the referenced value, but the only problem with that solution is that if a new record is added with the "Add rows to tabular form" process the package variable still contains the value from the last queried row! Is there a way (variable, APEX package, ...) to determine if the lov query is executed for a new record so that the package can return null?
    I know that I could write the package in a way that the value is immediately cleared when lov_pkg.keyval is called (one time read), but then I would have to create several variables if I'm accessing the value multiple times in the query or in another query => I think an one time read solution would be very obscurely.
    Thanks for your help
    Patrick
    http://inside-apex.blogspot.com

    Hi Patrick,
    I agree that it's a waste to continually use Ajax to go back to the server to get the contents of a dynamic select list.
    There are no bind variables for any row item - but what you do have, as per my previous post, is the value of the data entered by the user in the first row. You can pass this into your application process (using get.add("VARIABLENAME", value)), which can use it to retrieve the correct LOV in your Ajax code - this will give you a "bind variable" that your process can use.
    What you could do, however, is generate hidden select lists on your page - one for each possible LOV list and replace the contents of the new row's select list with the contents of the appropriate hidden select list. This is easy to do with javascript (using innerHTML functions). Obviously, though, the usefulness of this depends on the number and size of the select lists.
    Even if you don't generate them to start with, you can keep a copy of any select lists returned by Ajax in the DOM for use on new rows. So, if you have retrieved a select list, you will have a copy of it in DOM which you can then copy into the new row. If you don't have the list in DOM, use Ajax to get it, store a copy of it and copy it into the new row.
    Which method you use will depend on the number/size of select lists needed. If they are few in number and/or size, I would suggest generating hidden lists. If they are large, use Ajax to get them once, store them and then retrieve them from the DOM when needed.
    There is another thread here where Arie recommends going to the server every time to make sure you get the most up-to-date data for the lists. If you want to follow this advice, for this reason, use get.add("VARIABLENAME", value) to pass the value to your process. If this is not an issue, you can use one of the other methods I outlined above.

    Andy
