Hierarchial Query 3 Levels

Hello All,
I have searched OTN and AskTom and saw many articles on hierarchial query but I just cannot seem to figure out how to apply it to my situation. Based on what I have read I do not believe CUBE or ROLLUP is the answer for this (maybe wrong..).
This data is only a small part of a much larger query used for auditing purposes, so i would need to incorporate the solution for this into the larger query.
Part of my problem is how to actual present this data in a format that would make sense to the end user, when included in a tabular (Excel) report.
I am trying to devise a way to verify that monthly payment is received for each product. In this case, some of the products are "created" under another product and then billed under a 3rd product.
To explain the table
Prod_1 - list all products
Prod_2 - lists only those products that are the parent of an item in the Prod_1 column.
Prod_3 - shows there is a relationship between an item in Prod_1 that is not in Prod_2.
There may be items in Prod_1 that have no relationship to Prod_2 or Prod_3 are those are just billed or *not getting billed BAD*
There are other cases where there is a item in Prod_2 that is the parent of one or more items in Prod_1 but not related to Prod_3 and those are billed.
There are other cases where there is a item in Prod_2 that is the parent of one or more items in Prod_1 but not related to Prod_3 and *not getting billed BAD*
For example:
+1-abcd-efgh, 3-qrst-uvwx and 5-ghij-klmn+ under Prod_1 is created under Prod_2 +1234-2f-maker-taker+ but billed under Prod_3 +87-test-789101+ at $139.11 MONTH_CHARGE.
CREATE TABLE PRODT ( design_id VARCHAR2(50), Prod_1 VARCHAR2(50), Prod_2 VARCHAR2(50), Prod_3 VARCHAR2(50), Month_Charge NUMBER );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '8568','1-abcd-efgh', '1234-2f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '8569','2-ijkl-mnop', '5678-3f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '8570','3-qrst-uvwx', '1234-2f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '8571','4-yzab-cdef', '5678-3f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '8572','5-ghij-klmn', '1234-2f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '9421','1234-2f-maker-taker','','87-test-789101', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '9588','5678-3f-maker-taker','','88-test-123456', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '2531','87-test-789101', '', '1234-2f-maker-taker',139.11 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '2532','88-test-123456', '','5678-3f-maker-taker', 159.45 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '4531','76-test-101568', '', '',145.00 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '3528','6-abcd-efgh', '2234-1f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '3529','7-ijkl-mnop', '2234-1f-maker-taker','', 0 );
INSERT INTO PRODT VALUES ( '6261','2234-1f-maker-taker','','', 0 );
COMMIT; Desired Result:
Honestly - I am not sure of the best way to present it - definetly open for suggestions!
The table shows there is a relationship by Product Number, but the table does not make it clear that as in the example above that
all of the underlying products are being billed under +87-test-789101+ at $139.11 per month.
I must still show all of the Prod columns - so for my understanding Cube or Rollup is not a good fit(?).
That is what I am trying to accomplish - in other words I am getting paid for everything or not?
In my mind I see it something like this perhaps:
DESIGN_ID             PROD_1                    PROD_2                       PROD_3                    MONTH_CHARGE                BILL_INDICATOR
8569                    2-ijkl-mnop                 5678-3f-maker-taker         NULL                                 0                         ? (Not sure how to indicate
8571                    4-yzab-cdef                5678-3f-maker-taker         NULL                                 0                         what should be displayed
9588                    5678-3f-maker-taker    NULL                           88-test-123456                     0                         in this new column to make
2532                    88-test-123456          NULL                            5678-3f-maker-taker           159.45                    the Audit process simple *Help Needed*)Thanks for looking!

Frank,
I was hoping you would cross paths with this post.
I am building on a TOP N query you helped me with in another post.
As I mentioned in my an initial post, I have products that may be in a hierarchical order (or stand alone) could be billed as primary or with secondary or tertiary products that are billed under the primary. Meaning the primary would have a dollar figure associated, and may or may not have secondary or tertiary products related to it.
To explain the table
Prod_1 - list all products
Prod_2 - lists only those products that are the parent of an item in the Prod_1 column.
Prod_3 - shows there is a relationship between an item in Prod_1 that is not in Prod_2.
There may be items in Prod_1 that have no relationship to Prod_2 or Prod_3 are those are just billed or not getting billed BAD
There are other cases where there is a item in Prod_2 that is the parent of one or more items in Prod_1 but not related to Prod_3 and those are billed.
There are other cases where there is a item in Prod_2 that is the parent of one or more items in Prod_1 but not related to Prod_3 and not getting billed BAD
My business requirement is to present all of the results from the initial query as well as adding in the dollar figures from an addition query against another financial table. I need to be able to make it perfectly clear to an end user auditor that each and every product is being billed, and clearly identify the secondary or tertiary items if there are any that fall under that primary product.
My real hung up here is the presentation of the data. I can easily see the correlation between them but it is not likely an end user would.
DESIGN_ID             PROD_1                    PROD_2                       PROD_3                 MONTH_CHARGE       BILL_INDICATOR
8569                    2-ijkl-mnop                 5678-3f-maker-taker         NULL                             0              ? (Not sure how to indicate
8571                    4-yzab-cdef                5678-3f-maker-taker         NULL                             0                 what should be displayed
9588                    5678-3f-maker-taker    NULL                           88-test-123456                 0                 in this new column to make
2532                    88-test-123456          NULL                            5678-3f-maker-taker      159.45 ;          the Audit process simple *Help Needed*) Thanks for looking,

    Hi,
    How to get only the last level in Oracle SQL Hierarchy Query?Depending on your requirements:
    WHERE   CONNECT_BY_ISLEAF  = 1
    I hope this answers your question.
    If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only), and also post the results you want from that data.
    Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
    If you can show what you want to do using commonly available tables (such as scott.emp, which contains a hierarchy), then you don't need to post any sample data; just the results and the explanation.
    Always say which version of Oracle you're using (e.g., 11.2.0.2.0). This is always important, but especially so with CONNECT BY queries, because every version since Oracle 7 has had significant improvements in this area.

    The reason result show as no rows selected is your first insert. If fails since column list has 3 columns while values list has 4 values. You probably missed "ORA-00913: too many values" error:

  • ORDER BY IN HIERARCHIAL QUERY

    Cosider the following record set from the emp table.
    empno ename mgr
    7839 KING
    7566 SCOTT 7839
    7566 BLAKE 7839
    7782 CLARK 7839
    If I use the following hierarchial query to populate a tree in Oracle forms
    I will get the result as shown below.
    Query
    =====
    select -1, level, ename, null, ename
    from emp
    where empno in (7839,7566,7698,7782)
    start with ename = 'KING'
    connect by mgr = prior empno;
    Result
    ======
    KING
    JONES
    BLAKE
    CLARK
    Here is my problem. Though diffrent employees can work under a manager,
    we have some internal rules that assigns an order to each employee who
    works under a manager. This helps us in identifying who should take
    charge in the absence of a manager.
    I have added one column to the emp table, in order to store the order in
    which the employee reports to the manager.
    Now the record set becomes
    empno ename mgr emp_order
    7839 KING     0
    7566 SCOTT 7839 1
    7566 BLAKE 7839 3
    7782 CLARK 7839 2
    Now I want the forms tree to be displayed as shown below.
    KING
    JONES
    CLARK
    BLAKE
    (In short, I want the records in a particular level to be displayed
    according to a pre-defined order, rather than getting them displayed
    randomly).
    Which query can I use for this purpose ?
    Please help....
    Shibu

    Hi Guys,
    Thanks a lot for your suggestions.
    It really works great in SQL Plus.
    I am familiar with Oracle Forms and I know how to use it if I want to build a tree in Forms.
    Here is my requirement. I want to build the application using Oracle Portal. I know that there is something called 'Hierarchy' available in Portal. I don't know up to what extend it gives flexibility in programatically populating the tree.
    Here is the scenario. I will use the hierarchial query with CONNECT SIBLINGS BY clause to populate the a tree which will show me employees in a department hierarchially.
    Eg:
    KING
    SCOTT
    BLAKE
    SMITH
    Now I like to show the projects assigned to each employee, which itself can be considered as another hierarchy.
    Eg of Projects hierarchy.
    Projects
    Development
    Oracle Applications
    HRMS
    Support
    Intranet Applications
    Suppose SCOTT is working in HRMS project, the tree should show as,
    KING
    SCOTT
    Projects
    Development
    Oracle Applications
    HRMS
    BLAKE
    SMITH
    I can color code the node which will distinguish between an employee and his assignments.
    Is there a way to achieve it in Oracle Portal using the 'Hierarchy' or what may be the best way to go (Applet etc...) ???
    Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Hierarchy  Query  to  get  parent  nodes?

    Hi Everyone,
    I want to write a hierarchy query which should give me the path starting from given node to its parents(Grand parents). below is the sample data and the output what i am expecting. and also the output what i am getting right now from my query.
    CREATE TABLE RELATION (PARENT VARCHAR2(5),CHILD VARCHAR2(5) PRIMARY KEY);
    --Data for the tree which starts from the root 'A'
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values (NULL,'A');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('A', 'B');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('A', 'C');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('B', 'D');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('B', 'E');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('D', 'F');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('C', 'G');
    --Data for the tree which starts from the root 'H'
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values (NULL,'H');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('H', 'I');
    Insert into RELATION (PARENT, CHILD) Values ('H', 'J');
    Expected Output by passing values as 'F' which gives the path from bottom to up.
    A<-B<-D<-F
    My Query:
    SELECT substr(sys_connect_by_path(child,'<-'),3)
    FROM relation
    WHERE connect_by_isleaf = 1
    START WITH child = 'F'
    CONNECT BY PRIOR parent = child
    ORDER BY child;
    Output of my query:
    F<-D<-B<-A
    I am getting the output in reverse order. i can use the reverse string function to reverse the string but the problem is the node can also contain the values like 'AC' 'BA'.. in future.
    Can anyone please help me in getting the correct output.
    Thank you in advance.

    I like ListAgg :D
    with RELATION(PARENT,CHILD) as(

  • Query Level Analysis Authorization

    Experts,
    I have a requirement to provide Analysis Authorizations at a QUERY level.  For example, I have two analysis authorizations: (1) Org Unit and (2) Material Number.  I populate each of these Analysis Authorizations using a BEx Variable (through RSECAUTH) and customer exit "EXIT_SAPLRRS0_001".  In the user exit I look up what authorizations the user has for each field in a custom table.  For example, User A has access to Org Unit ORG1 and Materials M1, M2, M3.  User B has access to Org Unit ORG2 and Materials M4, M6, M8.  The Analysis Authorizations are assigned to the users via S_RS_AUTH object and it works perfectly.
    However,  we now have a new report, where we would like continue restricting the user to ORG1 but allow them to see ALL Materials.  But this requirement is only for a couple of reports. All other reports should continue to enforce BOTH restrictions.
    I don't see a way to determine which query the user is running.  In the user exit for normal variable exits, I can reference the field i_s_rkb1d-compid which has the query technical name.  But when filling the authorization variable in I_STEP = 0, that field is not populated.
    Has anyone experienced a way to create authorizations at a query level?  Is there an SAP InfoObject like 0TCAACTVT where I can specify a query name?  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi,
    SAP BW Authorization is definitely different from R/3 authorization. Why? Well, first, R/3 authorization usually involves up to the transaction code level. But for SAP BW, the mostly used transaction is "RSA1" and "RRMX". Therefore, authorization based on transaction code alone, is definitely not sufficient.
    So how do we design authorization in SAP BW? There's a few authorization objects that relates to SAP BW.
    For reporting, you will most probably use the following SAP BW authorization object:
    S_RS_COMP - Reporting Component, here is where you control the query authorization blah blah.
    S_RS_COMP1 - Reporting Component Owner, you can control users to only be able to access report created by Power Users, here.
    S_RS_FOLD - Disable/Enable the 'InfoAreas' button.
    Besides that, you will also need to configure the following authorizations:
    S_RS_ICUBE - Infocube authorization
    S_RS_ODSO - ODS Objects
    S_RS_HIER - Hierarchy Authorization
    For SAP BW administration purposes, aside from the above, you also need to configure the following authorization objects:
    S_RS_ADMWB - Administrator Workbench
    S_RS_IOBJ - Info Objects authorization
    S_RS_ISOURCE - Transaction Infosource
    S_RS_ISRCM - Master Data Infosource
    There that's what you need for authorization. Anyway, to achieve "field level" authorization like those in R/3, you can create a customize object, select the infoobject that has been set "authorization relevant", and add it in the authorization matrix, and walla, you got "field level" authorization.
    and refer the below link,
    Re: BI 7.0 Analysis authorization- How to control
    Hope it helps you,

  • Query level filter not working in Webi report

    Hi All,
    I am using BOXI R3.1 (SP3), m facing one problem when refreshing Webi report on daily basis. I am using three query level filter as a prompt, but i checked one filter is not working then i need to reapply this filter and rest 2 filter is working fine.
    Can anyone suggest me why problem is coming?
    Regards,

    Hi,
    Prompts are interactive, and come from the query panel. Filters are not interactive, and are set on the report or block. There are also input controls, which are interactive filters
    1. Select the universe in the list of universes to open the Query Panel.
    2. Drag the Year object to the Result Objects pane.
    3. Drag the Number of Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts Number of Guests to greater than n.
    4. Click Combined Query.
    The Combined Query pane appears in the bottom left of the Query panel with the two queries joined by UNION.
    5. Click on the second query and remove the Year and Number of Guests objects.
    6. Drag the Reservation Year object to the Result Objects pane.
    7. Drag the Future Guests object to the Query Filters pane and create a report filter that restricts the future guests to greater than n.
    8. Click Run Query.

  • Date to Month Conversion at Query Level.

    Hi,
    I have Net due date in the Info provider.
    At query level i have to create a restricted keyfigure based on Net Due Month.
    Is there any way i can calculate Net due month at runtime and then create the restricted keyfigure using the net due month instead of using net due date directly(linke 01-10-2010 to 31 -10-2010 for october 2010).
    Thanks and Regards,
    MuraliManohar.

    Hi,
    Is there any way i can calculate Net due month at runtime and then create the restricted keyfigure using the net due month instead of using net due date directly(linke 01-10-2010 to 31 -10-2010 for october 2010).
    you can calculate , but as he said you can add in cube ,  may be for cal month you are taking som eother date field.
    in this case write one customer exist code .
    create one varaibel on netdue date with customer not ready input (if user wants to enter input then ct=reate user entry varaible with reday input by using customer exit).
    in routine wriet the code as when that varaible .
    l_s_range - high , low and give then take the month form that date
    like netdue date +0(6)-- gives month and year
          netdue date +0(2)-- gives month
    then rtestrict that variable with your keyfigure.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Logical Formula at query level?

    I have requirment like if D =  0 then ' ' (SAPCE) else E / F.
    I dont know how to get space ?
    please help me to create this formula at query level?

    hi Hari,
    I am not really sure ,but u can try this...
    if D = 0 then ' ' (SPACE) else E / F.
    use the same formula and make it Zero instead of space and then in the Query properties replace Zero with Blank or Space Values.

  • Infoset resulting multiple results at query level

    Hi,
    I have joined 1 DSO and 1 Infocube in Infoset.. Mapped Plant, Material and Batch
    DSO
    Plant     Material      Batch      Caldate         Qty
    P1          M1          B101          01/02/2014     1000
    P2          M2          B102          05/02/2014     2000
    Infocube
    Plant          Material         Batch     Caldate               %
    P1               M1               B101          02/02/2014          20
    P1               M1               B101          05/01/2014          20
    P2               M2               B102          07/02/2014           15
    I'm considering date only on DSO and ignoring Infocube date. When I execute the report for the month of February, report output is as follows.
    Plant   Material     Batch     DSODate         Qty           %
    P1          M1               B101     01/02/2014          1000          40 (Summing up with January Date)
    P2          M2               B102     05/02/2014          2000          15
    I want data % value to be 20%.
    Is there any possibility to change at query level or join level.
    If we have one line item, data is correct but not the case with multiple line items.
    Kindly do the needful!
    Thanks
    SS

    Hi,
    When you join the two infoproviders in the infoset ignoring infocube date, you are creating as many records for each record in DSO. That means for the first record the infoset creates :
    Plant     Material      Batch      Caldate         Qty     %
    P1          M1          B101          01/02/2014     1000  20   (for first row in infocube)
    P1          M1          B101          01/02/2014     1000   20  (for second row in infocube)
    I also think same as Anshu, you have all the common characteristics, you can as well use a multiprovider.

  • Currency Conversion at Query Level

    Guys,
    Can some one tell me step by step procedure to do Currency conversion from USD to Mexican PESO at query level in BI 7.0. I have read lot of threads but not clear in maintaining the Exchange rates and also in creating the variables.
    Thank you,
    Kumar

    Hi Kumar ,,
    You're able to convert the currency amount on the routine ...
    Using this function :
    CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY
    Sample:
    CALL FUNCTION 'CONVERT_TO_LOCAL_CURRENCY'
         EXPORTING
            DATE             =  " current date.
            FOREIGN_AMOUNT   = " local currency amount (peso)
            FOREIGN_CURRENCY =  " local currency
            LOCAL_CURRENCY   = 'USD'
         IMPORTING
            LOCAL_AMOUNT     = RESULT " result.
         EXCEPTIONS
            NO_RATE_FOUND    = 1
            OVERFLOW         = 2
            NO_FACTORS_FOUND = 3
            NO_SPREAD_FOUND  = 4
            OTHERS           = 5.
    To maintain the exchange rate, you can go to tcode: OB08
    Hopefully it can help you a lot..

    Are they non decimal currencies?
    If yes, create RKF1 on amount field excluding the currencies for which you are not getting currect values then in CKF or formula as RKF1 / 100.   Similarrly create another RKF2 on amount only including the currencies which are excluded in RKF1, create a CKF or formula as RKF2/10000. Then created another formula wich adding CKF1 and CKF2.

  • WEB BEx Analyzer Comments on Query level

    I would like to enable BW users to create comments for some queries an enable other user to read them. System BW 7.01.
    Issues and questions:
    -how to create comment on query level - it's always on data (KYF), Metadata or Master data level
    -I would like to show the document icon - next to the query title (it's relevant for the query)
    -when I create Comments (with the button in the standard template), it's on the data level (combination of KYF) - and when I
    switch to icon display (settings) I get icons in every line. If this would be just at KYF header??
    -where can I edit, delete, ... recorded comments
    Thanks, Tom

    Hi Tom,
    1) If you want to create comments on query level, you need to create metadata documents, object type 'ELEM', object name is the technical name of the query.
    2) Document icons are always shown in the data table. Thus it will be hard to show a document icon for a document on query level. If you are using web templates, you can insert a single document item on metadata documents to display the comment on the query.
    3) Where the document is displayed depends on the document properties. If a characteristic is document property depends on the infoobject setting -> transaction RSD1 -> enter the characteristic -> tab 'general'.
    To see the document properties you can execute the query for example in RSRT (html mode) -> create a new document on any cell. On the bottom you will see the document assignment. Compare this assignment with the cell next to it. If its the same the document will be displayed in both cells. The same can be done for example in java web -> create a new document and switch to the second tab ('BI').
    4) Documents can be edited and deleted in the document browser itself, when you open the document in the executed query or in transaction RSA1 -> documents.
    Best regards,
    Janine
