Hierarchy (Parent-Child) drill-down report

Good morning,
I use Crystal Reports v12.3.0.601 & backend is Oracle - And I am a beginner.
Attached JPG details my question/ problem - Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Sridhar Lam

Hi Abilash,
I tried what you suggested...it returns the entire tree stucture. (returns ALL folder structure with indent....runs into hundreds of pages)
The problem I face is that...for a specific folder 'D7'...I need the structure....
(possibly a drill-down or drill-up structure or both if it is in the middle of the tree structure)
Let me explain....
My question is not that simple:
1. If I am given a FOLDER_RSN = D7 (could be any...but I am picking one as required by my business here)
2. Objective is to display drill-down/ drill-up/ or both structure of D7
Scenarios:
a. D7 could be a top-node parent
b. D7 could be a sub-parent under top-node parent.
c. D7 could be a sub-parent under another sub-parent
I would prefer a SQL statement referring the image...makes it easy to solve !!!
Thank you,
Regards,
Sridhar Lam

  • Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down

    Hello,
    We have a BO report on Bex query, Not on universe, we have a Hierarchy for Cost Element Group, and we are expecting the Drill down functionality for that in BO report, but it does not.
    Webi report on OLAP Bex query -  Cost element Hierarchy not working Drill down
    Any pointers how to do it please
    Thanks
    Krishna

    Hi,
    WebI reports on BEx source don't use same Drill feature as other sources, it's replaced by expland/collapse of hierarchy nodes (documented in WebI user guide in § "24.1 Drill defined"). This means you have to create query which selects all hierarchy sub-tree you plan on exploring later in report, otherwise if no data is available under a node there will be no '+/-' sign to visit this part of tree.
    You could try first to select "All members" from hierarchy in QueryPanel and see if behavior in report suits your needs. Then you should restrict hierarchy member selection to what's really needed to avoid performance issues.

  • Drill-down reports Discoverer-style

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a way to implement drill-down reports in HTMLDB. All the references I found are showing details in a 2nd page for a certain row in the 1st page (e.g. ordered items for an order ID).
    I'm not looking for this, but for drill-down "a la Discoverer", such as this example
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/discoverer/discoverer_1012/viewer/lesson1.htm#t7
    One can select there multiple criterias for drill down.
    Perhaps the solution would be a combination of tree reports with standard reports
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_tree.html
    but I don't see clearly how to do it, especially with a lot of drill-down options.
    Do you have any suggestions?
    Many thanks,
    Marius

    I think there are two differen approaches:
    - using the HTML report and doing some "dynamic" SQL at the block level
    (That means you have to write the drill down - this is the logic that
    is done by the tree - by yourself)
    If you ever have done the work to do this in combination with a HTML DB report,
    please post it here.
    - using the a Tree Page with a special layout and view
    Which one to use depends on how often you have to use this.
    You can see an example under:
    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=41053:30
    Here is a quick hack for the Tree Page variant, that may help you.
    Using a Tree page uning a view and changing the tree template gives you some of
    this functionality. If you have to do more of this kind use a stylesheet (.css) to
    controll the layout.
    1. Create a View that represents your Hierarchy (Structure)
    For every level create a UNION secion.
    Using UNION you can get the records from different sources also.
    2. Create a Page with a Tree, SQL Query Based.
    Use the View that you created before.
    NAME .. are the levels of your dimensions
    A1, A2 .. are your measures of your fact
    ID, PID .. the hierarchy (structure) information
    * Step 1 - creating a view:
    create or replace view tree as
    select id, pid, name, link, a1, a2
    from (
    -- Level 1 (Root Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') id, null pid,
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY') name, null link,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99') a1, to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99') a2
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY')
    UNION
    -- Level 2
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYY'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'Month')
    UNION
    -- Level 3 (Leaf Level)
    select
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day'), null,
    to_char(sum(ORDER_TOTAL),'999G9990D99'), to_char(count(*),'999G9990D99')
    from DEMO_ORDERS
    group by
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMMDD'), to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'YYYYMM'),
    to_char(ORDER_TIMESTAMP,'DD. Day')
    )If you have a lot of this kind of reports you realy should think to
    use discoverer. It does a lot of sql behind the szenes and also in the
    presentation logic - this is what you have to do here by hand.
    If you have more than two measures (A1,A2) you can do the
    formatting in your view (realy ugly, but it is a workaround).
    * Step 2: Create the tree page
    Tree Query:
    select
    "ID" id, "PID" pid, "NAME" name,
    null link, a1 a1, a2 a2
    from TREEBefore Tree:
    <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">After Tree:

  • Query in EIS Drill-Down Reports

    Hi all:
    We want to build Drill-down reports in EIS. I know the basic of creating a drill-down report. Created a sample using SQL server database and Essbase 9.3.1 dummy(test) cube.
    Just to give you a background we have planning application and no Essbase-only applications.
    I wanted to know is it possible to use an already existing cube in essbase to create drill down reports. I do not want to go through a process of creating the hierarchy in EIS as we already have DRM and a process around metadata creation, which is not likely to change.
    Is there some tool that can take a outline and create a Model/Metaoutline in EIS ?
    Please let me know in case you have any suggestions or wild ideas on this :)

    The short answer is no, you can't do it that way.
    EIS development flows from the relational side to the Essbase side.
    The Metadata Outline cannot be built until the OLAP Model has been created. Drill through reports are LROs defined in the Metadata Outline and linked through the OLAP model to the source tables.
    I tried to do the same thing four years ago and learned that EIS has to build the Essbase Outline in order to enable drill-through. In Version 11.1.2 that has not changed.
    I am curious, though. I was told by my Oracle Planning instructors that EIS doesn't work with Planning. Is that no longer true?
    Good Luck.

  • Drill down report without using heirarchies in OBIEE11g

    Hi,
    Can we create multiple column drill down report without using hierarchies in OBIEE11g?
    Kindly let me know the solution.
    Thank you!
    -Harshith

    Yes, It can be done, but for each drill level you will require one seperate report. Drilling can be achieved using OBIEE Report Navigation.
    For eg. If I have to create a drill report which starts from Year and goes to QTR and then to Month level. That means I have to create 3 reports.
    1. A year report which will have report data at year level (Consider Year, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns)
    2. A QTR report which will have report data at Qtr level. This report will have Year column in filter section as IS PROMPTED (Consider Qtr, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns).
    3. A Monthly report which will have report data at Month level. This report will have Year, Qtr column in filter section as IS PROMPTED (Consider Month, Product, Order_QTY and Order_Amt are the columns).
    Then we can go to Yearly report and put the OBIEE navigation on Year column and our target report will be QTR report. Similarly in Qtrly report put the OBIEE navigation on QTR column and our Target report will be Monthly report.
    This way you can impliment drilling without hierarchy.
    For step by step see below URL:
    http://www.askjohnobiee.com/2012/07/how-to-drill-through-guided-navigation.html
    Appriciate if you can mark Correct.

  • Drill Down Report by Grouping Data

    I am using Apex version 4.
    I'm wondering if there's a way to create a drill down report by grouping data and having a plus (+) symbol (or some other symbol) next to the group so the end user can expand or collapse as they want. So similar to how it works in Microsoft Excel.
    So I'm looking to build a report that looks something like:
    Market Office Revenue
    1 $200
    a $50
    b $70
    c $30
    d $50
    So there would be a way to expand or collapse the list of offices.
    Anyone know of any way to do this? I was hoping to avoid having to create linked reports. Even if there's no way to get the expand/collapse functionality to work, it would be acceptable to just show the data as I have in my example above.
    Thanks.

    Sorry, the format of my example got messed up.
    It's basically a hierarchy between Market and Office. So it's Market 1, then underneath that it would be Office a, b, c, and d. One market, multiple offices. Total market revenue of $200, then each office has the amounts listed.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • Passing Filter criteria parameters to drill-down reports

    Hi,
    I have a scenario, where my base report prompts a filter criteria for date range (from & to date) based on this criteria, I populate my base report with data's.
    Suppose if i have a drill-down, can i make use of the filter criteria value selected in the base report and pass the same value to my next-level drill-down report as criteria.
    Please let me know if this is possible. Also, let me know if there is any alternate approach available to achieve the same.
    My environment details are provided below.
    BAM (11.1.1.3)
    Report: Summary crosstab
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
    DK

    Hi pypawar,
    Thanx for ur reply.
    We are not using heirarchical drilling in our case, we are using another report for drill-down.
    I will give some more background for this issue.
    We have a scenario where we used the date filter for getting the from and to dates based on which we display our Master report (cross-tab).
    Further, when drilling down from the master report to child report(which uses the same dataobject as master); we are not able to pass the dates input that were provided in master report as filter criteria.
    While assigning parameters in the drill-down for the child report, we are not able to find an option to pass the date value selected in the master report to child report for filter criteria.
    In an alternate approach, what we did to resolve the above issue was to pass the primary key fields of the data object while drill-down. But while passing primary keys, we realised there are cases where large number of values are getting passed as filter criteria to child reports and in some case it fails since there large number values getting passed as filter criteria.(in our case the chance of this value could be few 100's to 1000's). You can find details for this error in CACHEEXCEPTION during drill-down in BAM reports
    Please let me know if this is possible. Also, let me know if there is any alternate approach available to achieve the same.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
    DK

  • Drill down Report with Prompts

    I need to create a simple dashboard report in OBIEE analytics, which takes user inputs ( prompts )  for a YEAR , STATE ( & hierarchy) and displays Population
    State Hierarchy is ---> State -- City --Zip code
    Format of report is simple
    User Input    ( Section 1 )
    Year =  Year123   (  Mandatory)
    State = State 1  ( Optional )is
    City = City1 ( Optional )    ( State will be  mandatory as this drop down gets populated from State value
    Population Report  ( This should be initial view with a given Year input and any othe optional ones )                        Section 2
    Sate
    Population
         +State 1
    323222
         +State 2
    4343434
    And drill down on State should be feasible
    Questions & Issues I am facing
    1  Do i have to create a dimensional hierarchy  Column at Presentation layer to enbale drill down  . I have the related data  in 2 dimension tables ( Time  &  Region ) and the relation in Population Fact table
    2 )  If yes , how do i pass  user prompts to this report ... I was able to do using selection step  for the state ..But not able to pass the City and Year
    3 ) Year is not part of Report Display ..but an input ..How do i use the prompt for it .
    i was able to get the report in simple table format ( no drill down ) , with prompts using isPrompted ..But i am lost with the Dimensional Hierarchy + Prompt .
    4 )Is Dimensional Hierarchy needed for Drill Down  ? How do i pass all the user inputs ( as above )  to it
    Please suggest if there is any alternative

    The problem is with drill down . We need two types of drill down action link . One for 'All' to show all values and another is for 'Y','N' values. I can use go url for this scenario however, I am using chart and the column is a measure, I cannot make the data type html otherwise chart will be blank. I cannot use condition in the first drill down as it does not show 'All' values from union. only 'Y','N' .

  • Drill Down Report Performance issue?

    Hi,
    why drill down report is slower performance comparing with Action link/Navigation method? what could be the back end processing?
    Thanks
    MRD

    Need to know/see your config to tell why it is slow, I would suggest to follow best practices for the same.
    Drill down back end process something like:
    Report fetch next level columns and the all aggregated measures are grouped by next level this may take some time unless you go with aggregate table (is part of best practices)

    you want to drill down the alv .. and show the report in the same program or you want to call another program when u try to hit the alv report..
    well for drilling down the same program.. you can use the following method
    CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
       EXPORTING
        I_INTERFACE_CHECK                 = ' '
        I_BYPASSING_BUFFER                = ' '
        I_BUFFER_ACTIVE                   = ' '
         I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM                 =  GV_REPID
        I_CALLBACK_PF_STATUS_SET          = ' '
         I_CALLBACK_USER_COMMAND            = 'TOP1'     " drill down
         I_CALLBACK_TOP_OF_PAGE             = 'TOP2'
        I_CALLBACK_HTML_TOP_OF_PAGE       = ' '
    FORM TOP1 USING UCOMM TYPE SY-UCOMM SELFIELD TYPE SLIS_SELFIELD.
    READ TABLE GT_FINAL_TOTAL INTO GS_FINAL INDEX SELFIELD-TABINDEX.
    CASE SELFIELD-TABINDEX.
    WHEN SELFIELD-TABINDEX.
    perfrom itab2_operation. " in this form you will write the code to get the data for drill dispplay
    now defing fieldcatalog again : example :
        GS_FCAT-COL_POS = 1.
        GS_FCAT-FIELDNAME = 'EBELN'.
        GS_FCAT-SELTEXT_L =  TEXT-001.
        GS_FCAT-FIX_COLUMN = 'X'.
        GS_FCAT-OUTPUTLEN = 13.
        APPEND GS_FCAT TO GT_FCA
    and  call alv display again :
    CALL FUNCTION 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY'
         EXPORTING
      I_INTERFACE_CHECK                 = ' '
      I_BYPASSING_BUFFER                = ' '
      I_BUFFER_ACTIVE                   = ' '
        I_CALLBACK_PROGRAM                =  GV_REPID
      I_CALLBACK_PF_STATUS_SET          = ' '
        I_CALLBACK_TOP_OF_PAGE            = 'TOP2'
      I_CALLBACK_HTML_TOP_OF_PAGE       = ' '
      I_CALLBACK_HTML_END_OF_LIST       = ' '
      I_STRUCTURE_NAME                  =
      I_BACKGROUND_ID                   = ' '
      I_GRID_TITLE                      = ''
      I_GRID_SETTINGS                   =
        IS_LAYOUT                         = GS_LAYOUT
          IT_FIELDCAT                     = GT_FCAT
    and if you want to call another progam when u hit..u have to use..submit key work
    like  SUBMIT  ZAFI013R VIA SELECTION-SCREEN AND RETURN.

  • Drill down report export to pdf

    Hi,
    I have a drill down report that i need to export to pdf.to get the drill down facility, I used 'HIDE' option for the groups.
    The drill down works in crystal.But when I export the crystal report to PDF, I could not see the hidden groups/Tabs, and my drill down doesn;t work.Please suggest me what to do while exporting a drill down report to PDF. Is it possible to export a drill down report to Excel?Can someone suggest the precaustions to be taken while exporting to different formats??
    Thank you,
    Tatyana.

    Drill-Down behavior in Crystal doesn't carry over to pdf exports.
    Using one of the 3rd-party Crystal Reports schedulers listed at http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html you can achieve similar behavior in pdf exports by automating the process of:
    1. exporting the main report to main pdf.
    2. Bursting a detailed report to individual pdf files
    3. using Crystal formulas embedded in the main report to generate live links from the exported main pdf to the individual detail pdf files.
