Highlight a Row in Master Region

I have two regions Master Region, which has few rows.
Secondly there is another region Details Region which displays the details of the selected row in the master region.
2 Questions:
1) I made it work in APEX 3.2 but the whole page refreshes,
How can I achive the same functionality using APEX 4 Dynamic Actions ? (would appreciate it if you can direct me to a tutorial) so that only the Details region refreshes.
2) How can I highlight the selected row in the master region ?
Thank you very much for your time
- Krishna

Jeff
Ahhh... I dint knew that and how exactly can I do that ?

  • How to highlight selected  row in a region ? ? ?

    Hi There!
    I have two regions Region1 and Region2. Region2 data is populated when I select a row in Region1.
    Now I have Region1 and Region2 data on the same page, but I cant exactly tell which row in Region1 corresponds the data in Region2.
    I was thinking of highlighting the row which was selected in Region1. Went through couple of solutions, but wasnt able to implement it.
    So was wondering if any one of you know a easy to understand and implement a solution for this problem.
    Any help or suggestions is greatly Appreciated.

  • Detail region does not refresh when selecting from a drop-down list in master region

    I am using DW CS3 and have updated to version 1.6.1 of Spry.  Using an XML dataset, I am able to create a Spry table as the master region that links to a detail region that displays a small JPG graphic.  It works fine in this format (clicking on a row displays the correct graphic).  However, my table has 80 rows and requires the user to do too much scrolling. So I changed the master region to a drop-down repeat list, but the graphic does not change when a new selection is made in the drop down list.  Listed below is the code produced when I used the insert Spry Repeat List.  I got the same results when adding a spry:setrow="dsChartNurse".  I also tried -- onclick="dsChartNurse.setCurrentRow('{ds_RowID}');" -- which again made no difference.
    When I removed children from the spry:repeat, the master region displayed as a two column list of all 80 items in a drop-down list format.
    <div spry:region="dsChartNurse">
           <select name="select" spry:repeatchildren="dsChartNurse">
             <option value="{name}">{name}</option>
           </select>
    </div>
    <div id="image" spry:detailregion="dsChartNurse">
       <img src="{dataimage}" align="center" style="margin:50px 0 0 0"width="320" height="164" />
    </div>
    Thanks so much to anyone who can help correct my code in order to have a drop-down list display information correctly in the detail region.

    Thanks for the quick reply.  I did solve the problem I was having by changing from onclick to onchange in the master region.  But, now I have another problem with, of course, IE.  I just put in online at http://www.minursemap.org/ageDistNurse.html.  When opened in IE, the drop down list displays the last entry, but the image is for the first in the list.  Thanks again for your help.

  • How To Highlight A Row

    Hi.
    I'm using Apex 4.2.0 against Oracle 11gR2 and using mod_plsql. I'm searching for a good way to highlight a row (both the text and the background) in a report (both Classical and Interactive) when clicking an edit icon in the row and to preserve the highlighting as a way to give users context as they look at other regions, say, a form on the same page.
    I've seen solutions for this: everything from placing calls to a Javascript function within a custom report template to using css styles. Unfortunately, thus far, these all fall short in that they "work" for only certain Apex themes or when using certain browsers. If users look at my app in IE 9, they see the row highlighted. But in Firefox 14, it is not. Or if a developer changes the theme, the highlighting may or may not work.
    Does anyone know of a method that just plain works for any Apex theme and for any modern browser (IE 9+, Firefox 15+, Chrome, etc.). I sure would appreciate pointers to working code.
    Thank you.

  • Highlight Current Row

    How do I highlight the current row of a tabular form or updateable report.

    Gus ,
    you can look at my demo ... ( the one you aked for in my other discussion)

    demo / demo
    when i click on on row of the IR , the text of selected row is set to red .
    i m sure that you can use it to highlight your row .
    Just remember that when you set for example background-color of a cell, the style of the region may hide what you try to change. I m not sure why but if you disable the region class
    your modifications will appears.

  • Easy way to highlight the row you are editing

    Hi,
    How can I easily highlight the row in a report with an edit button when I click this button. If I click it I go to another page but when I come back( After saving modifications) I want the row I just edited highlighted
    Thank you for the help
    Erwin

    Hello Erwin,
    First, you need to add an ID to every row in your report, so you’ll be able to manipulate it on the DOM level. Duplicate your report template, and edit the Before Each Row field to look similar to the following:
    <tr #HIGHLIGHT_ROW# id="#ROWNUM#">I’m using a hidden item on the report page, to hold the rownum of the report line I’m branching to edit. I’m setting this item in the link column (or in the f?p URL) to be #ROWNUM#.
    I’m using an onload event to fire the following JS function:
    function colorLinkRow(pItem, pColor) {
       var elm = $x(pItem);
       if (elm.value > 0) {
         $x(elm.value).style.backgroundColor = pColor;
    }The pItem parameter is the hidden item name, and the pColor is the background color I want to use.
    This code assuming only one report region per page. Otherwise, you need to take different approach to setting unique IDs to your reports lines.

    Arie.

    I have a simple sql query
    SELECT PK_ID,
      FIRST_NAME,
      LAST_NAME,
      INITIAL_REG_DATE,
      MAIL_DATE,
      BEGIN_DATE,
      END_DATE,
      END_DATE-BEGIN_DATE as "#days",

      COMMENTS,
      DELETE_FLAG,
    case when  DELETE_FLAG='Y' then 'GREY' else '#f0f0f0' end  DELETE_FLAG ,

    I created a Dynamic action

    But this is not changing color as expected..
    Kindly help me !

    Thanks you guys for looking into this.
    Pls ignore my improper explanation and my inexperience with jquery.
    I read some blog and was trying to do same on classic report but all blogs I found so far referred either interactive report or tabular report none of them mentioned classic report.
    I guess using array for classic report wont be a good idea to start with. :/
    I am not sure if this is right syntax and logic to highlight the row
    $(function(){
    var DELETE_FLAG = $(this);
        if DELETE_FLAG.is("Y"))
      DELETE_FLAG.parents("tr").children("td").css({"background-color":"GREY"});

  • How to highlight a row in tree table - jdev 11.1.2

    Hello:
    Given a key, I want to highlight (select/set currency) the corresponding row in a tree table. I thought the following code would highlight the row in the tree table that corresponds to the key, but nothing is highlighted in the tree table. ie---> treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys(selectedRowKeys); What am I doing wrong? Thanks much.
    public String cb1_action() {
    BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
    OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("Next");
    Object result = operationBinding.execute();
    if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty()) {
    return null;
    DCBindingContainer bc = (DCBindingContainer) getBindings();
    DCIteratorBinding iter = (DCIteratorBinding) bc.findIteratorBinding("DDF1Iterator");
    RowKeySet selectedRowKeys = new RowKeySetImpl();
    ArrayList list = new ArrayList();
    Row r = iter.getCurrentRow();
    Key k = r.getKey();
    list.add(k);
    selectedRowKeys.add(list);
    treeTable.setSelectedRowKeys(selectedRowKeys);
    AdfFacesContext adfc = AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    adfc.addPartialTarget(treeTable);
    }

    Hello:
    Do you mean setting the selectedRowKeys in the setter method of the treeTable in the Request Scoped Managed Bean?
    If that is what you mean, I tried that and there was no change in behavior. (Still does not highlight the correct row in the tree table upon execution of the next method for the bindings) Does anyone have any sample code they can provide that works?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Insert a row in master detail view & jboRowKey parameter

    Hi
    I hava a minor problem.
    On JSP page I have edit form for master view, beyond edit form is browse of detail view. I would like to insert or edit a row on master view and after update and commit, a would like to stay on the same page to insert some rows into detail view.
    When I editing rows it is Ok, becose jboRowKey parameter is always the same (to find proper row on master view).
    Problem appears when I want to Insert a row into master view, becose after transaction is commited, jboRowKey parameter is changed.
    Primary key on master table is sequence and it is inserted by (preinsert) trigger before commit.
    If anybody has some idea to solve this problem, please help.
    Gorazd

    Without knowing exactly the technology you are using, (JDev version, BC4J JSP tags/Components tags?),
    In general with BC4J after you do a commit, you do not necessarily have a record pointer on the new record that you just insert on the master table, so you would have to locate it again.
    Here is one way you could do this.
    After you commit your new inserted record, you could go back to a master "browse" page which shows the records of your master table along with a link to it's corresponding detail page. Encoded in the link you could pass the rowkey of the master record as a parameter and then in the detail page you could locate the master record that was clicked on by using the Find operation of the Row tag. When the master row is located, you automatically would be pointing to the correct detail records.
    In this case since the master was just created, there wouldn't be any detail records yet. You could then create new detail records for the new master..
    Let me know if this helps..

  • Inserting rows in master-detail views

    I have two VOs connected by a view link. I want to insert new rows in both the master VO and the detail VO and connect them together.
    I have the following:
    MasterEO (mapped to master_table)
    MasterVO (defined on MasterEO)
    DetailEO (mapped to detail_table)
    DetailVO (defined on DetailEO)
    MasterDetailAO (1 to many Association between MasterEO and DetailEO. master_id in detail_table references id in master_table)
    MasterDetailVL (1 to many ViewLink defined on MasterDetailAO)
    My AM looks like:
    MasterVO
    DetailVO via MasterDetailVL1
    I am trying to insert a new row in MasterVO, and a new row in DetailVO that should be linked to the new row in MasterVO. I used the code listed below. I was able to get the DetailEOImpl from the new row in DetailVO, and then get the new MasterEOImpl from the DetailEOImpl. However, when I called drow.getMasterVO() (drow being the new row created in DetailVO), I got null back instead of the new row in MasterVO. What do I have to do to connect the new row in MasterVO and DetailVO? (I got the same results regardless of whether the association is a composition or not)
    Also another thing I noticed, even though I've called setMaxFetchSize(0) on both VOs, the sql trace still shows the queries being executed. Is there anything else I need to do?
    MasterVOImpl master = (MasterVOImpl) testAM.findViewObject("MasterVO");
    DetailVOImpl detail = (DetailVOImpl) testAM.findViewObject("DetailVO");
    master.setMaxFetchSize(0);
    detail.setMaxFetchSize(0);
    MasterVORowImpl mrow = (MasterVORowImpl) master.createRow();
    mrow.setId(new oracle.jbo.domain.Number(10));
    master.insertRow(mrow);
    DetailVORowImpl drow = (DetailVORowImpl) detail.createRow();
    drow.setDetailId(new oracle.jbo.domain.Number(100));
    detail.insertRow(drow);
    DetailEOImpl deoi = drow.getDetailEO();
    MasterEOImpl meoi = deoi.getMasterEO();
    if (meoi != null)
    System.out.println("ID from EO: " + meoi.getId()); // This value is correct
    Row mrw = drow.getMasterVO(); // RETURNS NULL INSTEAD OF THE NEW ROW
    if (mrw != null)
    System.out.println("Row Class from Detail VO: " +
    mrw.getClass().getName());
    else
    System.out.println("Master VO is null");
    // THE OTHER DIRECTION ALSO DOESN'T WORK
    RowIterator rt = mrow.getDetailVO();
    DetailVORowImpl dd = (DetailVORowImpl) rt.first();
    // dd IS NULL
    if (dd != null)
    System.out.println("New Detail Row: " + dd.getDetailId());
    else
    System.out.println("New Detail Row from Master is null");

    You need to make your ViewObjects 'AssociationConsistent' for all collections to see new rows inserted into the cache. To set this setting for all VOs, edit your Appliation Module configuration and set the value for jbo.viewlink.consistent to be true.

  • The detailRegion is always forced to populate the first record from the Master region

    Hi fellow Spry enthusiasts,
    My question is in regards the undesirable data population of
    the regiondetail on initial load. I have 2 sections, one which is
    my master region (which goes out and retrieves a bunch of records),
    and a related detailregion which reacts based on the master.
    However, every time I initiate a query of the master region to
    retrieve records, the detail region also responds and automatically
    grabs the FIRST record of the master region (which is undesirable
    in my case because I do not want the detail region to react UNTIL I
    select a record in the master region). Let me know if this makes
    sense.
    Psuedo Code:
    var moveRequestor = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("cfc/QueryThatReturnsABunchOfEmployeeRecords")>

    {NAME}
    <span spry:detailregion="moveRequestor">

  • Possible to highlight a row in text area which in turn would fire an event?

    I'm making a GUI of which the main portion consists of a large text area. The text area would list problems that our company is experiencing - each row would represent a problem. Each row would give a problem ID and a description of the problem. I want to make it so that when the user clicks on a row (a problem), another dialog box would open which would present possible solutions to the user regarding the problem at hand. How would I write code to highlight a row which in turn would fire an event opening up another box?
    I thought about going about this another way - have a drop down (jcombobox) integrated into each row which the user can choose from but I'm not sure if you can insert a drop down into a text area (and neatly into a row at that!) so I think the former way may be preferable.
    Thanks in advance.

    Paul

    If a java application is required (as opposed to a web-based solution using HTML's linking capabilities) the best approach might be a JList implementation. It could go something like this...
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import javax.swing.event.*;
    public class ListFrame extends JFrame
       public ListFrame()
          super("JList example frame");
          getContentPane().add(getListPanel(), BorderLayout.CENTER);
          setDefaultCloseOperation(EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
          pack();
          setVisible(true);
       private Component getListPanel()
          JPanel panel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout());
          final JList list = new JList(new Object[]
             "List option 1...",
             "List option 2...",
             "List option 3..."
          // This will make sure only one item can be checked at a time.
          list.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_SELECTION);
          // Handle the selection here.
          list.addListSelectionListener(new ListSelectionListener()
             public void valueChanged(ListSelectionEvent e)
                // No need to go on if this was a deselection.
                if (e.getValueIsAdjusting() || list.isSelectionEmpty())
                   return;
                // This is where you would have to convert the value that's selected into whatever
                // it is you want to display to the user.  This example just puts the text of the
                // selected item into a messagebox.
                Object selectedItem = list.getSelectedValue();
                JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(ListFrame.this, selectedItem);
          list.setVisibleRowCount(5);
          // The scrollpane will control the scrolling of the list (so you can have as many options
          // as you want).  Standard JScrollPane functionalities can be used to control various
          // visual aspects of the list.
          JScrollPane scroll = new JScrollPane(list);
          scroll.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
          panel.add(scroll, BorderLayout.CENTER);
          return panel;
       public static void main(String[] args)
          new ListFrame();
    }I know this is quite after-the-fact, but I hope it helps (if you hadn't already solved the problem :) )

  • How to highlight a row in a standard report?

    Friends,
    Hope you can help.
    I need to highlight a row in standard report dependent on some criteria.
    Having searched the forum I have been trying to implement the example given here.
    This is what I have done:
    1) Create a new report using the following query
    select decode(deptno, 10, 'class1', 20, 'class2', 30, 'class3') trclass , ename, job, sal, comm from emp
    2) Created a new Report Row Template from scratch and added the details given in the example above.
    3) Placed the CSS Style sheet code in the stylesheet box at the following location:
    Shared Components>Cascading Style Sheets>Edit Cascading Style Sheet
    3) Ran the page
    4) Employee report is displayed but nothing is highlighted.
    What have I done wrong?

  • Add a Detail Table Row per master row

    Hi,
    I am currently working on a requirement for a master detail advanced table.
    I am trying to add one detail row per master row when the page loads based on the link between the two.
    I have a master table with 20 records and I need to create 1 detail row per master row....
    I have managed to create an add detail row button which works fine for single additions, but cannot seem to get the detail VO to add a row for each master row through the AM or CO.
    I have created a process to insert rows into the VO which based on debug statements seems to work, but nothing shows within the detail table.
    in the PR I run the query for the master, which in turn shows the detail row (Detail boolean is set to True).
    However any attempt to add it programatically does not seem to work.
    Any ideas appreciated.
