  • J2EE Server unable to start

    Hi,
first of all, i'm really new to SAP NW. Today I started installing the Sneak Preview of SAP NetWeaver 2004 7.0 SP9
JavaStack on my Virtual Machine (Windows2003Server, J2SE 1.4.2.09) and it worked fine.
After installation I started the SAP Management Console and tried to start my first and only instance J2E.
In J2E i got 3 instances, the DB, Instance 0 and Instance 1.
    After start:
    DB is working (blue)
    Instance 0 is working (green)
Instance 1 failed while starting (turned from yellow to red)
      Process List shows:
      jcontrol.EXE | J2EE Server | License check failed
      igswd.EXE | IGS Watchdog | Running
    Problem:
I don't know why the License check failed!
I downloaded the Software about mid of february, its been about 3 month ago and I ran the install for the first time
today. What might be the problem? I searched the SDN-History for similar problems, but i did not find an adequate
answer. I checked dev_jcontrol and the "license check failed" entry is in the file. So I'm wondering why my license
check fails, although I'm installing the software for the first time!
An info i got from the start.htm is:
The license of this Trial Version is for evaluation purposes only and does not allow commercial use.
The license is valid for 90 days and cannot be extended (View license). If the license has expired, the
entry license check failed will appear in the trace file <INST_DRIVE>:\usr\sap\J2E\JC01\work\dev_jcontrol,
if the instance name remains unchanged during the installation process. Please refer to SAP Developer
Network for more information about commercially available editions of SAP Web Application Server and SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.
May one find some more information in that file?
I realised that a package is missing, but read in the forum, that this is not a obligatory package (?)

Hello Vijith, thanks for your answer.
Installed a Sneak Preview of SAP NetWeaver 7.1 CE on Monday(5th May), but it failed.
Deinstalled the 7.1 CE Software on Tuesday (6th May).
Installed Sneak Preview of SAP Netweaver (2004s) 7.0 SP9 on Wednesday (7th May) and it was installed correctly, but i got the problem with the license check.
    So the Options are:
Change the date on OS before starting the Software
    or
Deinstalling the Software and installing SAP Netweaver (2004s) 7.0 SP9 SR 3 (which i downloaded this night). But i think i have to get the registry clean then. Are there Tools to clean the registry from all SAP entries?

  • Manual bypass to view all history entries of all user for one report

Test have been performed on standealone BIP 10.1.3.4.1 (Patch 11931697). May be it can be reproduced with previous versions and/or other J2EE container.
Problem is now described in Oracle Support with bug ID : 12412334
Bypass solution may be helpful for people who use work directly in BIP web interface or who integrate this web interface using HTTP URLs or HTTP/REST like custom app (and may be other cases...)
When logged with an admin username, you can view OR filter "ALL" history of one all users for one report by typing an url like :
    http://BIP/xmlpserver/servlet/reporthistory?report_url=/REPORT_DIR_PATH/XDO_NAME/XDO_NAME.xdo&tfilter=all
    Where :
    BIP is BIP Server DNS
REPORT_DIR_PATH is report directory path in BIP web interface
    XDO_NAME is report's name

I don't think there is a way. There should be, but I've never seen it.

  • How to implement a certain idea using J2EE.

Ok I have the following situation...
1- Client sends an XML document to server and awaits response.
2- Server stores XML document to database.
3- Using stored procs server processes the XML document. Data is inserted to tables, validation etc...
4- Server starts polling database on status of inserted doc.
5- 2nd application polls database for inserted data.
    6- Application retrieves data.
7- Application creates file to 3rd party specs.
8- Application sends file to 3rd party and awaits response.
9- Application receives response from 3rd party and updates status of data.
10- Server which is polling database notices status change and replies back to Client.
All this is done in realtime. Bassically a client conects to our server and sends us a document. We process the document and forward it to a 3rd party. 3rd party returns response and we return that response to the client. This was all done using IIS ISAPI DLLs and Custom C++ applications that we wrote in house.
This is hell since the applications poll the DB every few seconds, and special status fields have to be maintained, special "queue" tables where created etc...
So how can j2EE be used to implement the above situation?
I was thinking the following can be done and maybe you guys can correct me or add...
A few rules that must be followed. The XML doc must be stored in the DB for archiving purposes. The XML doc also contains the client login info which is checked against the DB. Cleint should be able to come back when ever he wishes and check the processing history of the XML doc etc...
1- A web service is overkill, a simple servlet that accepts an XML document through SSL, HTTP POST is good enough...
2- Servlet stores XML doc using a CMP.
3- Servlet invokes statless session been which extracts login info from XML doc and checks login info against a CMP entity bean. If the login information is wrong servlet returns error to client. And updates the status of the stored XML doc to failed or what ever.
4- If the login info is correct the servlet invokes a statefull session bean which will, parse the XML doc, invoke a combination of BMPs and CMPs and take appropriate action (Business Logic)
5- Servlet will push the data extracted from XML doc to a "in" message queue. Servlet will listen to an "out" message queue.
6- Application listening to "in" message queue. Retrieves message and sends it to 3rd party. 3rd party responds. Application pushes response to "out" message queue.
7- Servlet that is listening to "out" message queue commits all data etc... Update the state of the stored XML doc to processed or what ever and return the reposne to the client.
That's it... Anybody see anything wrong with this? Also since the application is not running within the web servers VM can it participate in the transaction? So if it where to fail to send or retrieve the data from the queues or the 3rd party. The EJBs that where created by the Servlet would take appropriate action...

This sounds exactly like what I am trying to do. May I please see your code to get some ideas. I am having trouble converting my code to an EJB architecture. The stub continues to create errors. Originally, I took the XML in at the servlet using an InputSource object but couldn't pass this to the SessionBean since it wasn't serializable (it didn't help to create a class that extended InputSource and implemented Serializable). Instead, I read the xml stream into a buffer and passed that to the Session Bean but then the stub threw errors when creating a DocumentBuilderFactory using the Dom Parser. It sure was straight forward before the RMI factor was added in. Does anyone have code samples that would help? Thank you very much.

  • Do older versions of Oracle Application Server support Containers for J2EE?

Do older versions of Oracle 9iAS support Oracle Application Server Containers for J2EE (OC4J)?
I went to the our companies application server directory. I don't see an oc4j or j2ee directory.
    Thanks,
    Merced

How far back are you looking? ANd what, in particular, are you looking for ...
The history of the Oracle 'internet service' that I remember is roughly:
    Web Server 2.1 (mid 1990s)
Web Application Server 3.x (mid 1990s)
Oracle Application Server 4.0.x (late 1990s)
Oracle Internet Application Server 1.0.x (2000)
Oracle Application Server 8i (basically 1.0.2.22.2.z)
    Oracle Application Server 9i (9.0.2, 9.0.3)
    Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4, 10.?.1)
Oracle had an initial J2EE container [attempt] with 4.0.x but that never really took off. I think that was really around the time of the last beta revisions for the JSP spec, and that's left us with the legacy of JServ apps. Seems like you would see OJSE, Oracle JSE (Java Server Engine?) in the docco and path.
IIRC, the current OC4J lineage started with around IAS 1.0.2 and has moved forward on what is now OC4J. There were some opportunities in the early days to improve consistency in the naming and directory structure areas. That has some lineage from Ironflare's Orion engine and so occasionally you see 'Orion' in the messages.

  • Back, History link on Page Title Bar

    Hi guys,
    Is it possible to
    - move these links (Back, History, <Icons>) from the right side to the left side?
    - change their appearance from links into buttons?
    Thanks In Advance!

    Hi,
as far as I know it is not possible to customize the page title bar the way you would like to. However, if you really have to realize your requirements you can modify the standard component. Therefore you have to download the PAR file which contains the page tile bar component, modify the PAR file, save it in your namespace and upload the PAR file again. Afterwards you can replace the standard page title bar with your modified page title bar.
You will find a copy of the original PAR file (com.sap.portal.navigation.pagetoolbar.par.bak) in the following directory of your portal server:
    \usr\sap\<J2E>\<JC01>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment
    Best regards,

    Thanks for your response.
This machine does not have a firewall, however it does have a complex history. I have had apache, tomcat, oracle development suite etc installed on it. I thought I had already shut them all down. Is there a way to determine what port is in use and what process has claimed it?

Your best bet to get this type of information is going to be through the SQL Server Enterprise Manager.  J2EE Engines typically do not grow as they rarely hold information but are pass-through systems.  For this reason, there is little detail in the Portal for this specific type of information.
If you setup the Solution Manager as a CEN Monitor for the Java Instance you can provide some thresholds for the MTE's on Db but again, won't hold informaiton on size history.
Hope that helps - if this answers your question, please set this thread to answered.

  • Hi all - how can i see the history of support package

and now i want to view the history of the sp ,  where can i see it ?
    eyal

    Hai,
if you want to see the history of support package for JAVA (Web AS JAVA),
Goto the URL : <b>http://<host name>:<http port of Java stack>/</b> --> select System Information --> Show all components --> it will display all Java SP's that you have deployed in your J2EE engine.
    regards,

  • NWA Monitoring - Export History Data

    Hello,
could someone please take a look at the following error, which I get, if I try to export the performance history (tsv files) in the NWA in the section Monitoring.
I click on "Export History" and than the Application asks "It may take a long time to export the history. Do you want to continue?". I confirm with yes and get the following error.
Is that a programming error or an configuration error?
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Modification history field

We are building forms in designer that were formerly in Lotus Notes. Our clients have become accustomed to having "routing history" and "modification history" fields as a document goes through its workflow.
Is this information best being populated as a process variable using the set value service? Or is it best handled on form submit? Or does it not matter which?
    Thank you

    Hi Gupta,
Thanks for info and assinged points...
Yes i'm working on BI7, but we don't have web server associated with J2EE server,  so  accessing planning framework BPS0 only.
For trial purpose,I created one dummy sales planning application by having planning cube without 0bpp_objuid,0uname,0date & 0time objects. Maintained data into planning cube(application) through a planning folder.  Then using remodeling concept i included 4 characterstics into planning cube and created required function modules. Now i'm trying to access planning area in bps0, it saying 'Generating enrironment"..in log bar. It seems to be we can achieve this only by again creating new planning objects(planning cube, area, levels, layouts & functions) only...
    Any suggestions...
    thanks ,

  • Is Forms going to be History ?

    Hi All,
Of late I have got an opportunity to work on J2ee. Earlier I used to work on Oracle Forms. Should I stick to Forms or J2ee would be a better propostion? Yor valuable suggestions are welcome.
Someone told me Forms soon will be History. Is it correct?
    Regards,
    ASK

In my opinion - it's a shame that "forms" will be history.
There is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that forms does automatically for you - and at the moment - I prefer this.
Doing what we do in our forms - I don't see it happening on web pages - and I would not look forward to doing our trickeries and GUI requirements in a Java application.
We don't do simple customer data entry forms, or take orders. We data entry and process a whole hell of a lot of data and report on it.
My job is solid here for a few more years in forms.. so I'm no fretting. I have a lot of functional system knowledge to get on board for any subsequent rewrites in any other technology of the day.
Right now - Oracle 10g stability (compared to 9i) and the hardware has finally caught up to handling our system sufficiently - Our 3 year hardware upgrade cycle is next year - I could have gotten away suggesting we do nothing and wait another. Things are running really smooth finally.

  • Version control J2EE applications

    Hello,
This is a fairly general question regarding version control. I want to bundle a J2EE application as an EAR file and deploy it to a number of different application servers. On every server where the EAR file is deployed, I would like to keep a history of what version of the J2EE application was installed, and when.
For example, say I have 3 servers (S1, S2, and S3), and want to deploy myApp.ear to all 3. Something's gone wrong (the application doesn't deploy to S2), and we're not aware of any problems until users start complaining. How can I check which version of my J2EE application has been successfully deployed on each server at a glance?
Are there any logs kept regarding J2EE deployment histories in the Enterprise Manager? How are these logs maintained? Are they self maintianing?
We currently have a custom made installation system for non J2EE apps that adds an entry to a table on one of our databases that records the username, date, time and version of a particular application when it is installed. We can't use this custom installation system when we bundle our applications as EARs.
Basically, how have you guys (other professionals) managed software releases with EARs? Can you recommend any methods, articles, or utilities? Does 10g Application Server provide any means of managing releases?
    Thanks for your input!

    Hello,
You bring up an interesting problem. At the moment 10.1.2 does not have anyway to manage releases, however there is a simple way out of this.
When creating the ear file (i.e. pre-deploy), you can add a versions.txt to your ear file which will have the version number of the application. In regards to the time-stamp, the application server will create a directory (under applications and application-deployments) for the respective deployment. In conjunction with the version.txt and the timestamp of your files on the OS, you could get a pretty good feel of releases.
If you implement your own logging into a file system (which means writing more code), you could do this as well.
You could also write a servlet that starts-up and writes this data to the DB, however please note that this write will happen every time you start the OC4J instance, so this might not be a good solution.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adding an External Application that uses J2EE Form Based Security

I'm trying to add an External application that uses the J2EE Form based security. i.e. uses j_username, j_password and posts to j_security_check.
I don't really see how Oracle SSO will support this. The container needs to take control of a clients request and determines when the "Login" page is presented to establish credentials. Posting directly to j_security_check isn't working for me.
I'm using Sybase EAServer 4.12 as the external application.
Is this supported in Oracle SSO?
Do I need to provide a different mechanism for logging user's in?
Also, can someone explain what the benefit would be if I configured the EAServer app as a "Partner" app? I would still have to provide an interface for login. The input would be different but the end result would be the same I guess. What advantages does a Partner app have?
Lastly, is there an NNTP server for these forums?
    Thanks.
    Darrell

The cure for the symtops described below was to simply add a welcome-file-list
element with appropriate welcome pages to the web.xml descriptor. It makes sense
now that I have worked it out.

    exception
    of one small quirk.
If a user presses that back button until such time as the receive the
    container
provided login page once again, and subsequently provide a valid user
    id and password,
they are NOT successfully logged in. Rather, they receive the ugly 403
    Forbidden
error that states that the server understood the request, but is refusing
    to fufill
it. This only seems to happen given the above course of events involving
    the
use of a back button in the browser (or selection of an item from the
    history
list). I suspect that this has something to do with the session id being
    cached
or something, but I'm not sure? Can anyone offer any assistance on this
    one?
Also, does anyone know of a way of preventing the user from bookmarking
    this container
provided login page as this also seems to be causing problems for users.
    If they
bookmark the first protected page of the application all is fine, but
    if they
bookmark the login page they receive the 403 error.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Clear metadata history - Options

Currently, Adobe files are saved to the whole story, even if the file is being edited by another program.
Ex: Innd file -> PDF file -> Illustartor file
Are stored as information about the files inportowanych embedded in the document.
When I want to make public the files would be able to delete the data. Sometimes this is not in my best interest.
Missing option to remove XMP metadata type <xmpMM:History>.
I do not understand why Adobe does not enable this option?

    Hello Jeroen,
There is no other possibility. If you adjusted and reimported a RFC model, you need to restart the J2EE server.
