Thanks for the clarification. I'm still not sure how you see this working though.
1. The end user enters data via some client application at their end (Java? .Net? Ruby On Rails?)
2. You want to keep a record of what they entered, using a text file.
A server can't write anything directly to the client (it's the same for web servers etc) so if the requirement is to do that then you would have to look at the client application itself.
From within the database using triggers, auditing, workspace versioning etc, you can capture an audit trail, and PL/SQL can write to text file using UTL_FILE.

  • Import a txt file from a location into the table through toad

    Hi,
    I have a location which is mounted on my oracle database.
    i have made one directory of that location.
    I need to load one .txt file present on that mapped location with the help of toad.
    My delimiter is ' | ' .
    Please help me out.
    Thanks

    The environment you described (and your intensions if I got it right) seems to call for a solution using External Tables (see Managing Tables)
    You shouldn't have any problems using TOAD.

  • Reading/getting external .txt files

    Hi,
    I want to display the content of a .txt files (which is located in the src folder) inside a TextBox (or ChoiceGroup, or Form). How do I do this yea? For instance, the TextBox constructor is TextBox(String title, String text, int maxSize, int constraints) rite, how do I fit in the file reading function or value that I get from reading the .txt file into it yea?
    Thanx!

    what do u mean by build the .txt file into the jar?{color:#0000ff}http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/index.html{color}
    i tried the examples from ... ...In future, please do not post on long-dead threads. One of those threads you posted on was from 2002.
    Reviewing your initial post and the silly question about the TextBox constructor, I think you are not quite ready for this task. You need to go back to basics and learn the Java language. The Sun Java Tutorials are a good place to start.
    This comment is not meant to discourage you, it is a statement of fact. A good foundation is a must for any developer, or indeed in any sphere of activity.

  • Want to use old research program that worked through firefox chrome folder via modification of installed-chrome.txt file

    there is a program (ESP, the Experience Sampling Program) that allows easy development and installation of research protocols via palm pilots. The program runs in mozilla-based browsers--Mozilla or Firefox. After the program is installed, it is accessed by hitting the URL chrome://espdesktop/content/desktop.xul. Previously, this required editing the file "installed-chrome.txt" file which was located into the chrome subfolder. The newest versions of firefox have done away with this subfolder. Not being a programmer, I am having trouble figuring out how to access the program now.

    First thing I noticed is you are running on an outdated/older version of Firefox & not the current version. Download it from here:
    * At the top of the Firefox window click the Firefox button, go over to the Help menu and select About Firefox. For Windows XP: Go to the Help menu and select About Firefox.
    * The About Firefox window will open and Firefox will begin checking for updates. If updates are available, they will begin downloading automatically. If Firefox is already up to date, just close the About Firefox window.
    * When the updates are downloaded and ready to be installed, click Restart to Update. Firefox will be restarted and the updates will be installed.

    In webutil.pll there is a function CLIENT_TEXT_IO. By using this function you can read the client text file.

  • Text (txt) file location

    Hi everyone,
    For some reason, if I try to import data from a txt file from a folder located on the same location as my movie file it doesn't work:
    on startMovie()
      importFileInto(member "Contact", the applicationpath&"Documents\Contact.txt")
    end
    But if I move the txt file, next to my movie and change the lingo to:
    on startMovie()
      importFileInto(member "Contact", the applicationpath&"Contact.txt")
    end
    It does work...
    I am adding this lingo to a movie script.
    Any ideas?
    thank you in advance...
    Rafa.

    Sean,
    Thank you for your time. I try what you menioned and I do get the alert window. But for some reason it is pointing to a different path than what I would like. See attached, please.

  • How to reduce configuration cache file Quota size located in ( C:\Windows\ccmcache ) for all client from SCCM 2012 server

    How to reduce configuration cache file Quota size located in ( C:\Windows\ccmcache ) for all client from SCCM 2012 server
    Thanks in Advance
    NTRao

    Hi,
    There are numerous ways to change the cache size.
    You could deploy a vbscript to a collection of the devices.
    On Error Resume Next
    Dim UIResManager
    Dim Cache
    Dim CacheSize
    CacheSize=20000
    Set UIResManager = createobject("UIResource.UIResourceMgr")
    Set Cache=UIResManager.GetCacheInfo()
    Cache.TotalSize=CacheSize
    Or you could use a configuration item.
    http://blog.coretech.dk/heh/configuration-items-and-baselines-using-scripts-powershell-example/
    You can also use the right click tools by Now Micro on a collection, if all the servers are on this would be the easiest / quickest way.
    http://www.nowmicro.com/recast/right-click-tools/
    http://www.david-obrien.net/2013/02/how-to-configure-the-configmgr-client/
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID, SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType, SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name, SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier, SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup, SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System where SMS_R_System.OperatingSystemNameandVersion like '%6.2%'

    To provide some clarity here, this resolved the issue for use also. The good news is that it should be relatively easy for anyone with FDM Workbench access to resolve this given the following information from the FDM DBA guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/fdm_dba.pdf):
    To modify the Oracle Work TablespaceName and Oracle Work Table Index
    TableSpaceName configuration settings:
    1 Launch Workbench, and log on to the FDM application.
    2 Select Tools > Configuration Settings.
    3 Select Options > Oracle Work TableSpaceName.
    4 In Name, enter the name of the tablespace, and click Save.
    5 Select Options > Oracle Work Table Index TableSpaceName.
    6 In Name, enter the name you entered in step 4, and click Save.
    7 Select Options > Oracle Work Table Bitmap Index Switch, and set the value to Off for Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g.
    8 Click Save.
    9 Click Close.
    Step 7 specifically resolves this issue.

  • Loading *.txt files in web service

    I have a running web service on Axis, and can communicate with it from a j2se client and a browser test client.
    I'm attempting to load a txt file of data in the web service (stores a list of usernames). But the code can't locate the text file. Where are external resource placed if they're needed in a web service? I was assuming I could just place it next to my *.java files.
    Thanks

    I should add that I'm using Eclipse , and as such my web service seems to be self contained in my workspace for Eclipse. The structure is
    EclipseWorkspace -> myProject -> projectNamespace -> *.java
    I thought I could place my *.txt files inside the namespace directory with my Java files. I have also tried placing the *.txt file in the project directory, still no luck.

  • Error!! uploading .txt file using WS_upload

    Hi Friends,
       I am trying to upload a .txt file with 5 fields into a ztable using WS_upload. In debug mode i see that the internal table itab has all the fields clustered together seperated by a # symbol. How do i remove this # symbol so that i can upload it into ztable properly .
    For eg the error i m getting is
    ibm#1042#krj#04-19-2006#PS. All these 5 fields get clustered under material column and not in their respective columns.
    Your opinion and advice is greatly appreciated .
    Thank you

    Suppose you have the data from the file in i_text and i_vendor is a structure similar to the database, then you use the following logic to split the text with hash as delimiter.
    loop at i_text.
    split i_text-text at '#' into i_vendor-lifnr
                                  i_vendor-ekorg
                                  i_vendor-ktokd
                                  i_vendor-name1
                                  i_vendor-sortl
                                  i_vendor-land1
                                  i_vendor-spras
                                  i_vendor-waers.
    append i_vendor.
    clear :i_vendor,
           i_text.
    endloop.
    Let me send you a sample code. Let me know if this helps.

    Difference between Call Transaction and Sessions Method.:
    1) In CT if mode is ¡¥A¡¦ then there wont be log messages. In sessions method we can get log messages in Foreground and Background too.
    2) In session method until and unless session Is created it wont update the data. But in CT data is updated immediately.
    3) In CT for log messages have to write BDCMSGCOLL structure and Format_Messages function module. Logs are created automatically in Session method.
    4) Data UPDATION in CT is Asynchronous. In Session method its Synchronous.
    5) In CT we have to split the file. In Session method we need not split the file.
    6) In CT we use BEND in Session we have to use END
    Real time most of the times its SESSION Method.
    Use CT method when:
    a)     Run time Validation.  Example: We are creating a sales order. Here we are validating when selecting Payment Terms etc.
    DIRECT INPUT Method:
    If anything modified in SAP transaction don¡¦t use DI method. Updation is very fast.
    There is no Restart mechanism in DI method.
    Ex: have 10 records. 6,7 are error. In session method we needent go to the file. We have to go to BI and process again. Process in Foreground and during this time change at run time.
    We need to go for the file. Delete the first files, last files and then upload the data and run again.
    Main Transaction Code for DI is SXDB

  • FileRecover recovered as txt files, how to fix?

    I have a client using Panther whose hard drive, it turns out, was too full. She was moving a selection of about five messages from her Inbox (POP) (described as having "thousands" of messages in it) to a new On My Mac folder. Suddenly all the messages in the Inbox vanished.
    First I gave her the standard lectures about hard drive space, mailbox size limits, and backups. Then I checked the sizes of files in the Mail folder. Neither the Inbox nor the target mailbox had a large enough filesize to be hiding the missing messages.
    Data Rescue didn't find anything useful.
    FileRecover turned up some files in .emlx format (isn't that Tiger? but they were all spam anyway), plus 146 files named 1.txt through 176.txt which appear to contain at least some of the missing messages (as you can see about 30 of the pieces are missing). Each txt file has one or more emails separated by lots of gibberish (attachments, maybe?). I surmise this is a mailbox that got broken up into pieces, since Panther didn't store individual messages, right? Is there any way to reconstitute it?
    In case it helps, here's the beginning of 1.txt:
    From [email protected] Sun Mar 27 13:45:55 2005
    Mime-Version: 1.0 (Apple Message framework v613)
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
    Message-Id: <[email protected]>
    Every one of the txt files starts with a From line, but sizes vary from 80k to 1.6mb.
    Any enlightenment, suggestions, or general discussion of mail recovery is welcome. I'll be posting a similar-but-different problem in the Tiger Mail forum.
    Cube, iMac G5, MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    First of all, Mail 1.x doesn’t store messages in individual files, so trying to recover those messages with a data recovery utility doesn’t even make sense. No file is deleted as a result of deleting individual messages in Mail 1.x, only as a result of deleting mailboxes.
    Second, Mail 1.x knows nothing about *.emlx files, so it doesn’t make sense that you’ve found any such files on a Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) system either. BTW, what is ‘FileRecover’? Did you mean FileSalvage?.
    Your only hope is that the messages may still be in the original mailbox, but inaccessible for some reason. If that’s the case, the following procedure would allow you to recover the messages from Inbox:
    1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/.
    3. Locate INBOX.mbox and move it to the Desktop.
    4. Open Mail. A new empty INBOX.mbox will automatically be created within the account folder, and this will allow you to continue using Mail normally while trying to solve the problem.
    Although INBOX.mbox appears to be a file, it’s actually a special kind of folder (a package) that contains several files. Ctrl-click on INBOX.mbox and choose Show Package Contents from the contextual menu to see the files it contains. Of these files, mbox is the most important and is where all your messages are stored. Depending on the size of the mbox file, you may or may not be able to directly import it back into Mail in the next step.
    An Incoming_Mail file may also be present, in which case it might contain messages that couldn’t be transferred to mbox. Incoming_Mail is also a standard mbox file like mbox proper, just named differently, and can be imported back into Mail in the same way.
    5. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes and follow the instructions to import the INBOX.mbox that’s on the Desktop. I’m not sure what the import options available in Mail 1.3 are, but you should choose Other / Standard mbox or something like that, so that Mail looks at the mbox file only (and Incoming_Mail, if present) and ignores the other files in the package.
    If Mail doesn’t let you select INBOX.mbox in step 5 because it’s a package instead of a plain folder, rename INBOX.mbox to just INBOX (i.e. remove the .mbox suffix) so that it becomes a normal folder, and try again. You cannot do this directly in the Finder because removing a suffix by normal means causes the Finder to hide the suffix instead of renaming the file. To remove the suffix from the name, you must do File > Get Info (⌘I) on the file and change the name there.
    Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder.

  • How to open and edit "*.txt" file with "Notepad"

    Hello guys!
    I'm facing problem with SharePoint 2010 Enterprise and got no clue how to solve it.
    What I want to do is to open "*.txt" (which is placed to "Documents Library") in "Notepad", so I could edit it and save (publish) directly to SharePoint from "Notepad".
    If I upload any Microsoft office File, such as "*.docx", "*.xls", etc - it works as it should - document opens in appropriate application and everybody is happy.
    But, when I create documents library, put some "*.txt" file there and click on it - it opens in new browser's tab as text, so I cannot edit the file.
    What I tried to do is to activate feature "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" - not happy.
    Edit "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\TEMPLATE\XML\DOCICON.XML" - I've modified "txt" entry as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <DocIcons>
        <ByProgID>
        </ByProgID>
        <ByExtension>
    <Mapping Key="txt" Value="ictxt.gif" EditText="Notepad" OpenControl="SharePoint.OpenDocuments"/>
        </ByExtension>
        <Default>
            <Mapping Value="icgen.gif"/>
        </Default>
    </DocIcons>
    Still not happy.
    So, how do I make this stuff work?

    Found this link which has more information on this scenario:

    I am implementing the steps of the 990534 note.
    The note says "Create a new transport request (transaction SE09) in the source client of your Solution Manager system. Unpack file SOLMAN40_MOPZ_TTYP_SLMO_000.zip, which is attached to this note. Copy the contents of the SOLMAN40_MOPZ_TTYP_SLMO_000.txt file into the transport request."
    can anyone tell me how can I copy the contents of a txt file into a transport request?

    Hello,
    I don't know the OSS note, but I think they mean, that you have to go into the object list of your transport (in transaction SE09), switch to change mode and insert the objects from the text file.
    I guess the text file looks like:
    R3TR PROG xyz
    R3TR TABL abc
