Home movies + ipod

i am a vid freak and i love puting movies on my ipod, especially home movies. i have a windows os and i enjoy using windows movie maker to ad subtitles and inlays and such to my movies but then the windows movie maker file wont take to my ipod because its mac and an unsupported file. in short, does anyone know an editing program that is compatible with windows os and ipod vid?, or how to make a wmm file work w/ipod. i'm not sure if this is relevant to anything but i sure would appreciate it.

okay, how do i go about contacting you, just via email. one problem tho, my computer is super slow and doesnt take well to downloading GIANT programs. buying them from a retail store or such might be more convienient for me.

How can i get artwork to sync from itunes to ipod touch for my home movies ?
The artwork is there in itunes ,but when i sync to my ipod ,the artwork dose not go with ,all that is there is a gray house box !

Read the PDF user manual for a possible solution:  iPod Manuals, search through Apple's Knowledge Base for support Articles and/or iPod Nano Support

  • Home movies do not sync on ipod

Home movies that I have made and edited in imovie will not appear on my ipod
even after hitting all available option when syncing. Tried all movies, recently
    played movies etc.

Under Summary the only checked thing is,  Open itunes when ipod is connected. I've tried all of those settings by the way and have the same results. Nothing.
Under Movies...Sync Movies is checked along with tiny checks next to all 15 movies.
What about trying "restore" ? From the summary page.

  • Converting Home Movies to IPOD

Why is it that I can upload a home movie from my digital camera to my computer with sound and get it just that way into the Library but when I convert it into the IPOD there is no sound? The orginal file with the sound in the library reads MPG movie file (Quicktime, although plays in media player) and when it converts reads movie file. It is enfuriating!

Thanks Brian, I hadn't realized the only way to get them to play correctly was to upgrade & buy Quicktime Pro. This also helps with MySpace and posting home movies on there as well. So thanks again for the information.

  • How do I sync home movies? - no sound when downloaded to ipod

I learned how to put my home movies onto my ipod, but when I play it, there is no sound. Please help me...

On the ipod goto Video>video settings> and make sure "TV Out" is set to OFF if listinging thru headphones or ON if you have it connected to a TV.
Did you convert the video in iTUnes?

  • ITunes 6/iPod: Upload home movies?

    Thanks.

    heh!
The thing is that when Apple unveiled the iPod Photo, it seemed obvious to me that a video version would come very soon after that. We were on vacation and got a very good deal on the 40 Gb Photo, so we got it.
But yeah, it's kind of frustating to get any kind of digital device these days, a few months go by and it's already "obsolete" (note how freely I use the term "obsolete")

  • New Home Movies from iTunes not showing up on Apple TV

I edit a lot of home movies in Final Cut. When I am done I use "Compressor" to convert the uncompressed movie files to an Apple TV format. The problem I am having now is that after I import them into iTunes they aren't showing up on either of my two Apple TVs when i use Home Sharing on my local network. I am able to play the movies in iTune and play them on my Apple TV by using AirPlay, but I would prefer not having to do this.
    A few things to note:
    1. Software is up to date on Apple TV
    2. I have "Share my library on my local network" checked and "Share my entire library" selected under SHARING in my iTunes preferences
    3. I am using Compressor 4.07. The preset option I use is " 1080 for Apple Devices (10Mbps)- Compatible with Apple TV (3rd gen.) and iPad (3rd Gen.)

Are the files in the library?
I notice that music and movie categories exist, and I can watch the movies I have converted using handbrake, and iMovie for home movies that we're added to my iTunes library....but... I want to sort this into kid movies, parent movies, and home video categories.  Apple TV will be so much more useful if I don't have to use my iPad to air play my home movies.  Browsing a single list of video that includes these 3 distinct functional categories is pretty lame.   Where is my apple freedom here?
I expect this fixed or more easily configured with the new Yosemite and iOS update. I hope there is an Apple TV update to make this better too.

  • Descriptions for home movies in iTunes

I have some home movies that I classified as TV Shows, so I could see them separately from my movies on my video iPod. However, when I try to access them on my iPod, they don't show up because there is no way to alter the category "Show" so I can find it on my iPod. Does anyone know how to do this?

I don't know if you got your answer this this post is from about 3 months ago. I've also been having the same issue.
On my end, I've been keeping all of my movie files on an external drive and just as your situation, only some of them appear and some of them are missing. I don't know if it's as a result of having them on an external drive and anytime I launch iTunes, it's not always plugged in. I'd have to do a bit more testing on that.
I did notice that as soon as I select the "Get Info" on a movie file with missing artwork and confirm that it's there in the metadata by just clicking "ok", it appears automatically in the iTunes window. Seems like a quick and easy solution for now, but not so if you have 300+ movies and you have to do the step for every other one.
If you figured out a solution for this or what worked for you, I'd be glad to hear it.

  • Can you add menus to home movies?

Hi, Just wondering if iMovie has any way of adding menus to the start of home movies. The sort of menu that you can select chapters from to jump to different sections of the movie.

iMovie HD (free version 6.0.4 available to iLife '08 owners from Apple) and GarageBand can chapter can chapter movies. (iTunes, iPod, iPhone, TV, QT Player, and Front Row can all use these chapters.) However, iMovie '08 itself cannot add chapters. If your clips don't need any editing, simply create/add them to a GarageBand iPod project, chapter them, and export them using the "Export Movie to Disk... > Full Quality" Share menu option. This work flow does not re-compress your video content, but merely places it, the audio, and the chapter text track in an MOV file container for use.

  • Porting home movies - disappointment

One of the main reasons I bought the Apple TV was to play the growing amount of video I had been generating using a Sony mini-DVD type video camera recording in a wide-screen mode.
Thanks to all the people who posted with hints such as streamclip that I finally got to play some videos.
    Some pains along the way:
    - Wasted $30 on QUicktime pro conversion. I keep getting an error -108 and conversion dies about 75% of the way through.
    - itunes "Convert to ipod" dies with "not enough memory"error. ( No I am not running anything else and I have 1G physical memory).
I finally got streamclip to work ONLY if I convert my videos to mp4 and then run streamclip.
If I only run streamclip, it wants an MP2 decoder for QUicktime.
SOOOO... If I have to watch a movie from my Videocamera. I spend an hour upconverting to mp4. Then I spend more time exporting to something so that it will fit within the max 720x432 format.
So much for the legendary usability for playing home movies. Apple TV is a truly disappointing product.

  • Home Movie Sound

maybe I'm just missing the thread. I drag my home movie clips into my library, under Advance Tab I click Convert to Apple TV. Everything works except there is no sound. How can I fix this?

I looked at the MPEG Streamclip software, it confused me more.
Use MPEG Streamclip to convert it to one of the formats listed here and drag the converted movie into the open iTunes window.
I am not trying to play these files on an Ipod, only on my Apple TV.
    That doesn't matter.

  • Home movie conversion to iPhone

My home movie plays fine when it's in iTunes or Quicktime on my laptop - but faster on the iPhone!
I imported my home movie into iTunes and then under Advanced I selected "Convert Selection for iPod/iPhone" -- for playing on my iPhone. BUT the transferred iPhone movie plays at time and a half--much faster than normal.
I read somewhere that I could also use QuickTime Pro--but that didn't work either.
Any ideas why this is happening?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Home movies on DVD into iMovie for editing?

I've had home movie video cassettes transferred onto DVD professionally and want to move them into iMovie so I can do edits and create new movies. The DVDs play fine but I can't figure out how to get them into iMovie so I can manipulate

As Peter Joshua stated, Instant Handbrake will do the job and it is free, but you will have to check the settings to conserve the original quality because HandBrake is made to convert for iPod and will condense the movie. I have an app called Cinematize Pro, which is a perfect app for doing this. It is not free but conserves the full quality of the video and allows you to convert selected chapters or clips and not the whole DVD content.

  • Can I import AVI QuickTime home movies into iTunes

I have some home movies I would like to place into my iTunes. I take the icon of the movie, and I place it over the iTunes and a plus sign appears, however when I release the mouse, the movie does not imports into iTunes.
I have also tried to go to the iTunes menu, choosing file, add to library and choosing the file. But it does not work ether. I still do not see that the video has been imported into my iTunes.
Can any one tell me what am I doing wrong?
I thought it would be easy to import my videos to iTunes.
The music videos I have downloaded from the iTunes store have downloaded well. Are they a different format?
    Hope you can help.

I don't think iTunes will take AVI files directly. You will have to convert it.
