Home Share - can't get some songs from iTunes onto iPod

I have an old PC I had originally downloaded iTunes on. I have a new laptop with iTunes as well. I used Home Share and everything is great - both libraries show on both computers. The problem is that I have one song and one video that I have purchased from iTunes on my new laptop and I'm unable to load either onto my 160GB iPod. I'm using Windows Vista on the laptop and XP on the PC. Since both items show in both libraries, why can't I get either synced onto the iPod? I've tried syncing from both the PC and the laptop with no success. Anyone else have this particular problem?

Are you using a 1st or second generation shuffle and what format are the songs that won't move? Some formats that play in iTunes are not compatible with the 1st generation iPod shuffle, Aiff and Apple Lossless for instance. Apple Lossless is not supported on the 2nd generation shuffle:

• Can't get purchased songs from iTunes onto shuffle

Hi, Can someone help me. I purchased songs recently and now I can't get them onto device. Here is is the error message
<<<the iPod Lauren cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found.>>>>
What can I do?
Thanks.

In iTunes, try the Store menu - use the Authorize Computer option.
Or you might have reached a limit on authorized devices (I think the limit is 5). I get pretty close with cell phones, nav system and shuffle on same iTunes account.

• I can't copy purchased songs from iTunes onto my iPod on my new computer.

I have an HP Pavilion zd7000 notebook computer. It's used. It was given to me by a family member. I put my iPod software onto it. I can purchase songs from iTunes, and I can connect my iPod and play the music. However, when I tried to put a purchased song from iTunes onto my iPod, I was told that I wasn't allowed. Is there some sort of security thing I don't know about?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure your computer is authorized for this? This is probably your issue.
If you go to the "Advanced" tab on the top in iTunes, is there a "Deauthorize computer..." button or an "Authorize computer..." button? If there's an "authorize computer" link, then that is your issue. Authorize your computer, and you should be able to transfer iTMS purchased songs from iTunes to iPod.
For details, see this Apple article:
About iTMS authorization and deauthorization
I hope this helps you,

• Can't get new music from iTunes to iPod

I currently have an iPod Touch. Have downloaded the most current iTunes. Have the latest software update for the iPod. For numbers sake, I have 75 songs on the computer iTunes, 300 on the iPod. Want to get music and playlists from iTunes onto iPod. Have repeatedly tried syncing to no avail. I don't want to erase everything off the iPod in order to do so. Likewise, how the heck do I get the extra 225 songs from the iPod onto my iTunes?? All of the trouble started when I 1) added an iPhone into the mix and had multiple devices involved and 2) did the most recent iTunes update (which I HATE!!!!)
So how the heck do I do this?? I do not have a 7 year old in the household to tell me how to do this.

Transferring tracks from an iPod back to iTunes has been covered here a number of times already, but again:
First, you need to prevent automatic synchronzation with a blank copy of iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
Then if you're using iTunes 7, you can then copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly (use the Transfer Purchases From iPod command under the iTunes File menu).
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy back other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

Hope this helps.

• I just bought a new iphone, how do i get my songs from itunes onto the new phone?

i just bought a new iphone, how do i get my songs fron itunes onto the new phone? when i log into itunes, none of my songs are there...

Are you saying your iTunes doesn not have your songs? If not, where would they be? If on an older iphone, then they should have gotten there via itunes and itunes has them.

• When recently syncing my iphone, itunes asked me something regarding transfering purchased items or something.. I foolishly didn't read it properly and now I can't get purchased songs from iTunes back on to my iPhone... Please help!!

Hi,
When recently syncing my iPhone a message came up regarding transferring purchases or something.. In haste I pressed the wrong reply.. My phone synced, but removed all of the songs I purchased on my iPhone. Although they are still on my iTunes and I can play them.. but they will not sync back to the iPhone what so ever.. I'm stressed out big time and can't believe I was such an idiot lol!! Had a look at a few forums.. But they seem to be about transffering from Iphone to Itunes...
Please Help xxx

At the AT&T store. Tried using iCloud but only 120 songs were transferred and when I access my iTunes account now it only shows 120 and not the 450 anymore that I purchased on my old phone. Tried to sync again from the phone to iTunes and it still not working.
I purchased everything under the same apple ID account I called apple support and spent almost 2 hours with tech support for assistance and we got disconected and they never called me back.
I'm at the point where I'm about to never purchase anything anymore from apple go to another company retrieve every single charge made on my bank account from iTunes and file a law suit against the company. It's being a week that I called for assistance and no one called me back to help me with this matter even after I responded a survey with a complaint about not getting a resolution to my problem.
If you could please help me I will appreciate, I'm out of the country now and can't stay on the phone for a long time.
I need to sell my old phone but as right now besides all my bank statements the old phone is the only evidence that I purchased the songs.

• Can't get my music from iTunes to iPod

Hi, I've never had any problems with my iPod until now. Each time I connect the USB cable into any of 6 ports the music will not transfer automatically from iTunes to the iPod. I can see no fault with the cable as it will actually charge the iPod but just not transfer the songs. Any help on this matter would be really, really appreciated

• Adding only "new" songs from itunes onto ipod

ok this is tricky to explain but all my songs have been wiped off itunes but i stil have them on my ipod as i haven't plugged it into my computer giving it the chance to "update" and as a result wipe all the songs off my ipod in the process. is there any way that you can update ur ipod but set it to only add to ur music library instead of updating it with what music u have in ur itunes library if u get what i mean? i don't want to lose all the songs on my iPod and but updating it in ITunes i believe i will! please help!

There's no way to sync your iPod and only have it add new songs without deleting the ones that are no longer in iTunes. However, you can change your iPod to manual update and add the new songs without affecting what's currently there. If your iPod is set to update automatically, you can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Once you are safely connected, change your update setting to manual: a href="http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61148">Managing content manually on iPod

• Why won't a U2 CD I own transfer songs from iTunes onto iPod?

New iPod user, first CD I tried to upload happened to be a U2 children's instrumental CD and iTunes says the songs won't play on my iPod. I converted them to AAC to try and fix it but that didn't do it. Is this only b/c it's U2 or symptom of something else?
Thanks!
Drew

It is because U2 hates you!
No wait, that's not it. Ok have you tried a second or third CD? Let's try that first, import a few CDs and see what happens, especially some old ones before CD copy protection schemes were tried. If ALL the stuff still doesn't go into the iPod, then it must be something up with iTunes, the iPod, or your setup. If the other ones go in and just not U2, then U2 really does hate you, err, ummm, I mean, there must be something about that one particular CD.

• Can't get some songs from iPhone to iTunes...?

So I tried "Transfer purchases from iPhone to iTunes" but it only did like 5 of the 100 I have on there that aren't already in the Library. I just don't know what else to do.

I am also having a problem with Iphone syncing all of my library. I have a toshiba laptop running vista and there are four family members all with their own profile using the same Itunes account to buy and download songs.
When I sync my Iphone it only copies 103 of my 159 songs. It won't even sync any of the songs I just purchased, even though all the songs I have were purchased with the same Itunes account. I have tried deleting my entire library and re-loading it, manually dragging songs to my iphone and using other family members profiles but nothing works. Can anybody help?

• Can't sync some songs from itunes

I just got 10.4.11 on my imac and a new ipod nano using itunes 8.02. I can sync some tracks (manually) but with others I get the error message: "Not copied to ipod XXX's ipod because you are not authorized to play it on this computer." What does this mean?

Hey there,
Did you try to reauthorize your computer? Deauthorize it and then reauthorize it if necessary. See if that helps.
