Horizontal Menu Bar works when index.html is appended to url, but not otherwise

My spry horizontal menu bar works like I want when I put /index.html at the end of the url for my website, but when I just go to the website without typing that in the index page shows up fine, but some of the links in the menu don't work. How is that possible if the index page is what shows up when you put in the usual www.domain.com?

You're fine; don't worry about how you sound!
I did not get two different pages when I went for your ...tennis.com address vs. your ...tennis.com/index.html address. Were you looking at the pages locally (preview in a browser) or looking at them on your website?
If your local site contains the files you want to have on the server, synchronize your files [entire local site] (on the files panel, the 'recycle' symbol) to see which files are different, remote from local. Then upload (being sure to include associated files).
The basic reason for a Spry menu bar not working is if the javascript and the menubar css file are not accessible or not linked to the page. The other reason would be if Javascript is turned off (but you said it worked with one file...) or if the javascript code at the bottom of the page is somehow either not there or broken:
<script type="text/javascript">
<!--
var MenuBar1 = new Spry.Widget.MenuBar("MenuBar1", {imgDown:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarDownHover.gif", imgRight:"SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarRightHover.gif"});
//-->
</script>
Well, I've been pretty long-winded about this. I hope you have been able to sort out the difficulty!

  • Windows authentication on Intranet site on IIS8.5 works when using the IP of the site, but not the URL.

    I have an intranet website on server 2012R2 with IIS8.5.
    When I access the site by IP address, the site prompts for windows authentication and it only permits access to the areas the logged in user is allowed.
    When I access the site by URL, Firefox prompts for authentication and gives the correct access, but when I access the URL from IE or Chrome, the site never prompts for credentials and the entire site is wide open to anyone.
    I have anonymous authentication disabled, Windows authentication enabled, and basic authentication enabled, set to default to our domain, so the user doesn't have to type domain\username.
    I left the site bindings open, because when I bind to an IP or host name, the intranet site stops working.
    Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong???

    When I access the site by URL, Firefox prompts for authentication and gives the correct access, but when I access the URL from IE or Chrome, the site never prompts for credentials
    and the entire site is wide open to anyone.
    Are you accessing the site from a domain-joined workstation? It's possible that it looks wide open because IE and Chrome are using your existing Windows credentials without any prompting, whereas Firefox is not automatically using these creds so is prompting.

  • JavaScript works when saving file as Dynamic or Static but not 6.0 compatible

    I need to be make required fields not required when a form is submitted from a specific button. This gives the user the ability to save the form without having to complete it. I have this working using the following script when the form is saved as Dynamic or Static.
    for (var i = 0; i < xfa.host.numPages; i++)
    var fields = xfa.layout.pageContent(i, "field");
    for (var j = 0; j < fields.length; j++)
    var field = fields.item(j);
    field.mandatory = "disabled";
    But when the form is saved as Adobe 6.0 Compatible, it does not work. Can anybody explain to me why this is? And possibly help me convert this so it will work with Adobe 6.0 forms.
    Thanks
    Nate

    But if I run that in terminal I get this:
    anthony-computer:~ anthonyjk$ java -version
    java version "1.5.0_13"Yes - commandline/Terminal, that's what I meant.
    So long as the program doesn't use any 1.6-only features, then will it will compile OK both at school (using1.6) and at home (using 1.5). Eclipse can be told to produce .class files that are compatible with a particular runtime. In your case the school compiler was producing 1.6 class files that are no good when you take them home. Hence the need to recompile, telling Eclipse you want 1.5 compatible .class files.
    Or - as I mentioned - download and install the most recent JDK for use at home. There'll be less confusion that way

  • Horizontal Menu Bar extends off the screen

    I have the horizontal menu bar working great with a standard
    CF query results set. however, the problem i am having is that the
    right most menu item has two levels of children that expand right
    on rollover, but that pushed them off the browser so you can;t
    actually see them. is there a way to have them expand to the left
    instead?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    *Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
    Try to disable hardware acceleration.
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

  • Contribute vs Horizontal Menu Bar

    I'm using a "dolphin tab menu bar"
    Text
    (horizontal menu bar w/ horizontal submenu bar) on my web page.
    When I try to edit the page in Contribute the horizontal bar
    becomes stacked and covers the body of my web page--thus making it
    hard to see to edit. What can I do to make the horizontal menu bar
    work in Contribute.
    THANKS...

    I would suggest you try another solution for your menu, this
    one is not even crossbrowser (check it in Firefox and Opera). It
    must be possible to create something similar like this yourself
    using a unordered list and css.

  • Spry horizontal menu bar and accordion panels not working when published

    Hi,
    I'm a newbie to Dreamweaver and have been asked to design an intranet site. On the site, I added both Spry widgets for a horizontal menu bar and an accordion panel. Both of these widgets work in preview, however, neither work when I publish. I uploaded the Spry asset folder (with all the CSS and JS files) to the remote server, but still no luck. What am I missing?
    Thanks.

    Despite of what you have staed, my bet is on the fact that the SpryAssets folder and/or the included files are not being found by your page..
    Open the site in FF, click on view Source and in the source code click the link to the JS file. If it can be found, it will show the content of the file and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the page can find the file.
    If it does not show the content, you need to correct that.
    Good luck.

  • Spry Horizontal Menu Bar not working in IE

    Hi! I am new to this forum and new to Dreamweaver. I recently used Dreamweaver to build a website to display my digital portfolio. I am not very good at this and don't understand much of this works. I inserted a spry horizontal menu bar for my navigation. I did change the original set up to have the background the colors I wanted and I also changed the size so it would go across the top of my page. This looks fine in Firefox and Safari but in Internet Explorer the bar displays vertically, which does not look good. Can anyone look at my code and tell me how I can fix this problem?
    I appreciate any help I can get with this as I have tried everything I know.

  • Horizontal Menu Bar not displaying when published as it views in live view or preview

    I am working on putting together our site and haven't used Dreamweaver in years so very rusty.  I have a horizontal menu bar that is working properly in "live view" and in "preview" mode but when I publish the submenus are not working.
    You can view the site at www.pulsecc.org
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you so much! That's a little frustrating how long I pulled my hair out trying to figure something this simple out!
    Thanks again!

  • Active State not working in Horizontal Menu Bar

    I have a Horizontal Menu Bar.
    I've set the Top Level Item with Normal, Rollover, Mouse Down and Active States to be different.
    All three work on the Top Level Item, EXCEPT for Active State. When the menu is Active, and I move the mouse down the items, the Top Level Item defualts to the Normal State, NOT the Active State.
    I've tried trashing the Active State and rebuilding it.  That did not work.
    I can't figure out how to get the Top Level Item in the Menu Bar to display the Active State.
    Hope someone has some suggestions, or knows if this is a bug.
    Thanks.
    Dave Coop.

    Hmmm...I've just been playing around, and I think I got the Active State to work correctly.  I think my problem was not understand what Active State means.
    To answer your question, I was changing the Font Color and Box Fill Color of the Active State.
    I did not understand that Active State means the look of the Menu Item when the PAGE is active.  I thought it meant the look of the Menu item when the cursor is scrolling down the Menu (i.e. when the MENU is Active, not the page).
    Look at this page for an example of what I'm trying to achieve...
    http://www.pgavdestinations.com
    When you hover over the "Work" menu item, and move the cursor down the menu, the state of "Work" remains changed until you move the cursor off of that menu column. It does NOT return back to it's Normal state until you are off of that menu column.
    Is there a way to achieve this with the menu states in Muse?
    Thanks for the replies!
    Dave.

  • Horizontal menu bar displays grey in IE - Please Help

    These are my first websites and i have created it in DW CS4. Everything is working and i have checked in multiply browsers. The one issue i can't work out is that when viewed in IE the horizontal menu bar looks grayed out. The main menu should be transparent with a white border, while submenus have a .gif image gradient background also with a white border.

    Hi,
    Before I give you the solution, please be advised that nothing goes above supplying an online URL. This helps us more than anything else. In fact, with an online URL ther is no need for further code.
    So, in your case, thank you for the URL.
    For the solution to your problem, just remove the red coloured part.
    @media screen, projection
        ul.MenuBarHorizontal li.MenuBarItemIE
        display: inline;
        f\loat: left;

  • Deleted CSS for Horizontal Menu Bar. Help!

    I deleted the css for my spry horizontal menu bar and now when I try to upload it into a new page it is distored.  I added back the css rules for the menu bar and it helped but I cannot get the menu bar to line up horizontally like it was originally.  The bars are vertically staggered across the page.  Can anyone help me with the css settings to get the menu bar back to normal?
    Thank you
    Teresa

    Hello Teresa,
    we should not resign ourselves. I for my part, I'm very "happy" with my DW,  particularly you/we find here many unselfish helpers! What concerns your "way to build website an easier way" I'll propose DW itself (see screenshot of my German DW):
    or many of interesting templates (Google is your friend) and here my favorite are these of Nancy O.:
    http://alt-web.com/Free-CSS-Templates.shtml.
    And I want to reoeat my hints from above:
    If you have a budget to work with, look at PVII's Pop-Menu Magic3.
    http://www.projectseven.com/products/menusystems/pmm3/index.htm
    jQuery Superfish (free): http://users.tpg.com.au/j_birch/plugins/superfish/ aso.
    Good luck!
    Hans-Günter
    P.S.
    And whether you use DW or other programs, sooner or later you have to become familiar with CSS and html aso.

  • Horizontal menu bar appears vertical after upload

    Hi,
    I am new using Dreamweaver CS4 and have encontered a problem. I have made a nice looking (I think so) horizontal menu bar on my web project and it works/looks fine in the "LIve View" of DW. However on the web page after upload it looks like this:
    http://www.competenciagroup.com/ColombiaTravel/index.html#
    It has changed from horizontal to vertical and all formats are gone. Anybody have a clue?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ivan

    The Spry stylesheet cannot be found.
    The Spry CSS should be:
    http://www.competenciagroup.com/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css
    In your local working folder on your computer, is the Spry folder inside the working folder, or is it outside of that folder.  The Spry Assets folder should be inside the folder where all your other html/image files are.  The link in your html pages, shows that the Spry folder goes one level deeper than that.
    The paths to both the spry css and the spry js file are wrong, you need to fix that and then upload the files again.
    Hopefully you are working within a Defined Dreamweaver site - this is a very important first step before working on your site.
    Define a site:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/140/tn_14028.html
    Via the File Panels window, move the spry folder into your working folder  *do not do it via windows explorer* it has to be done through Dreamweaver so that DW can correctly the file links.  If everything goes correctly, you should be asked whether you want to update any links, so yes.. and hopefully the links will be corrected.
    Usually the link should look like this if the Spry folder is inside your working folder structure:
    <link href="SpryAssets/SpryTabbedPanels.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Your link however shows as:
    <link href="../../SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    This means that the browser is trying to find the files one level down from where you website files are stored on the server.. and it's not there.

    I get dizzy when I look at your markup. Have a look at the following

  • Horizontal Menu Bar Rollover image

    I have been slowly piecing together some Horizontal Menu Bars
    by learning from the code on this page...
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/spry/samples/menubar/MenuBarSample.html
    keeping that in mind my code is probably wrong in a number of
    ways. The problem that I have run into and cant seem to solve on my
    own is that I want one of my Horizontal Menu bars to have rollover
    images only on the primary level. If you follow the link below you
    can see what I have done thus far. The "tabs" are images and I want
    them to rollover to another image, which is just the same tab in a
    darker shade of grey. The tabbed menu bar is labeled MenuBar2 in
    the code
    http://www.du.edu/~dborges/test1.html
    The other problem I’ve been having with both menu bars
    is the way they appear in IE... it looks great in everything else.

    Hi Beth, I have been going crazy on this end with the Sub Menus showing up at the top of the Internet Explorer Browser. They work fine in FF and Chrome...
    I have CS4 and tried reading everything possible.... here is my page. I am normally pretty good at resolving these issues but I'm going nuts.. ha!

    Thank you for any assistance you can provide. I would be forever grateful!
