Host in forms 10g and execute shell script

Hi!
I have a little problem. When I transfer form to AS through SSH protocol I want to automatically generate form on AS wit h code:
declare
lv_server_dir vc2() := /folder1/folder2;
lv_file_name vc2():= a.fmb;
host(lv_server_dir||'/ftp_gen.sh '||lv_server_dir||' '||lv_file_name);
In file ftp_gen.sh is code:
export ORACLE_HOME=myOracleHome
export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
export TNS_ADMIN=$ORACLE_HOME/network/admin
export SQLPATH=$ORACLE_HOME/dbs
export NLS_LANG=SLOVENIAN_SLOVENIA.EE8ISO8859P2
export DISPLAY=:2
cd $1
./gen.sh $3
When I execute this command on form nothing happens.
What could be wrong?
Thanx,
Bojan

Hi Bojan,
Executing the HOST Command will execute in the Mid Tier and nothing will show up in the Client. (other than the form go into Blocking mode). Just check out whether the Operation you wanted to do in the Mid tier is done or not. (Here it looks like you are compiling a form. So, check out that the fmx is generated.)
Alternatively to check out the proper execution of the HOST command, you can generate a file in the Mid-tier (on successful execution of the shell script) and read the file using TEXT_IO and display a message to user.
HTH.

  • Oracle 10g and Korn Shell Scripting

    I have a table,SALES_STAGING, with 3 main columns.
    Sales_Date, Sales_type,Sales_Code.
    A sale is added to the table then waits until approved to be processed. The Sales_Code is 1(waiting approval). Then manually changed to 2 every 30 minutes by sales staff except on weekends. By Monday,a large queue develops. This must be changed because the queue is slowing the system. Can someone help create a Unix Korn shell script to
    1) Run every 30 minutes via Crontab
    2)login to the Oracle DB.
    3)Count the number of records to be processed, if any.
    4)Update another 'log' table with the time it ran and the records to be processed
    5)if there are less than 20 add another 50 to be processed by changing the Sales_Code from 1 to 2.
    This would really help out tremendously! Thank you.

    Sales transactions can peak at 20,000 per hour with an average of several million thru the week. Those sales by VIP customers are immediately identified and have a priority for approvals because their balances can easily exceed $1,000,000.00. There is a pre-approval process to be introduced but until programs can be modified/tested and deployed we need a quick fix. The programming system isn't slow, it's the limited human resources approving VIP customers. My request was to keep it simple and expand on it myself to include the entire scope of our project. dbms_scheduler, although a good idea will require DBA assistance and there is no resource available. I need a simple working model to give me some direction/ideas...

    Hi,
    Shell script is not supported till Demantra 7.2.0.2 WF.
    I have checked with Oracle team also and reply I got below for your reference:
    QUESTION
    *=========*
    As per your details, shall we conclude like this:
    *"only *.bat and *.exe files can be used in workflow. Demantra standard functionality doe*
    *s not support shell script in workflow"*
    ANSWER
    *=======*
    Hi ,
    The Demantra standard functionality 7.2.0.2 does support shell script in workflow.
    Thanks,
    Asya
    Please review the note#468071.1-Unable to Run EBS Workflows that Call EngineManager.exe in
    You will find this note is referring to the Enhancement Request Bug 6644455-- ANALYTICAL ENGINE
    NOT AVAILABLE ON UNIX/LINUX
    But the enhancement bug exist and I hope it is fixed in Demantra 7.3.

  • Finding path to source executed shell script

    Hello,
    I have shell script A which executes shell script B. The scripts A and B reside in the same directory.
    Following requirements:
    Scripts A and B need to be source executed.
    The directory where A and B resides should be anywhere.
    The present working directory from where A is executed should be anywhere.
    The directory of scripts A and B may not be defined in $PATH.
    The current shell could be any Bourne or Korn shell, Linux or Unix.
    Problem:
    Let's assume scripts A and B are installed in "/custom".
    The users working directory is /home/oracle and he executes "source /custom/A".
    If script A executes "source ./B", the result would be "source /home/oracle/B", which will fail.
    Possible Solution:
    Since script A is being sourced, $0 will always be the name of the current shell and not the name and path to script A.
    I have not found a universal solution to locate the absolute path of a shell script that is being source executed.
    So I was wondering about defining a variable in script A. e.g. SCRIPT_HOME=./custom. When script A executes "source $SCRIPT_HOME/B" it will work, but then script A needs to be customized by the user.
    I could write a script C that edits script A to search and edit the SCRIPT_HOME variable. For this to work I will have to verify that script C is not source executed, and that script A is in the same directory as C based on $0. This is not a problem..
    The question however is whether I need to create script C, or could simply execute script A with -config argument to edit itself and exit. I would prefer the later case and from what I understand, Unix and Linux do not lock files by default and this should be possible.
    Any comments or suggestions please?
    Thanks!
    Edited by: Dude on Apr 5, 2011 3:59 AM

    The $_ solution is actually very simple:
    $ cat thatsme
    mypath=$(dirname $_)
    echo "$mypath/B"
    $ source /home/oracle/thatsme
    /home/oracle/BI do not need the absolute path of script A. The relative path from my current directory will do as well.
    But, it does not work with an alias:
    $ alias thatsme='source /home/oracle/thatsme'
    $ thatsme
    ./B

  • NLS_LANG value that suits Forms 10G and Database 11G wanted !

    I can't believe how bad is to install Oracle Database and Oracle Forms on the same Windows Vista machine!
    I had a problem in Oracle Forms 10g that prevents many items in the Form Builder menu from appearing in English Language and also prevents anything in the web-based forms runtime from appearing in English. I searched the forum for a solution and found that I have to set a NLS_LANG value in the environment variables equal to the following: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1256.
    I did this and my Forms builder looked great. Everything in english with no problems. But now what ?! The Oracle Database itself refused to connect from all clients! It refused to connect from Forms Builder, SQL Deeveloper, and even from SQL PLUS! The error given is: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified.
    It seems that what I exactly need is a NLS_LANG value that will satisfy both Oracle Forms 10G and Oracle Database 11G that both are installed on the same Vista machine. The question is: What could this NLS_LANG value be?!
    Thank you in advance

    If you have connected to the database on which the form is based, prior to running the form from the Builder, the uname and password will automatically be passed in at startup and you will not be prompted.
    If you would rather hard code a username and password, enter it in formsweb.cfg. For example:
    SYNTAX:
    userid=<USERNAME>/<PASSWORD>@<DB NAME>
    EXAMPLE:
    userid=scott/tiger@orcl
    Remember that this change will only impact runtime and have no effect on the Builder.

  • Doubt with Windows and Oracle Forms 10G and 11g

    Hi
    I have some doubts in installing Oracle Client on Windows.
    a)Can we install Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g client on Windows 7?
    b)Can we install Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g client on Windows XP?
    c)If we have an Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g, can it connect to a 10g Server?
    d)If we have an Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g Client, can it connect to an 11g Server?
    Please, Can any one help me in this????

    a)yes it can be installed on win7, may have some issues on 64bit systems but they're solvable
    b)11g had some problems with windows 2000, but didn't see mention of any problems on XP
    c)if you mean a database server then yes - i managed to connect 11g to an 8i database, so v10 should not be a problem. If you mean a forms/reports server..well newer forms/reports builder might not want to run old forms/reports and vice versa, but I don't see the point of operating on the same files from different versions. You can still load old form/report source files with a newer builder and recompile them to run on the new server.
    d) the "client" is effectively your web browser with a java plugin, unless I misunderstood your question. What version was a form/report compiled with should not be an issue.

  • Difference between execute as statement and execute as script in Toad

    I want to know difference between execute as statement and execute as script in Toad ..while i am running a query execute as statement is taking about 3 seconds and if i run with execute as a script its taking long time..Which one i need to consider.Firstly, this is not a TOAD forum. TOAD is a 3rd party tool developed by Quest Software, so really your question does not belong here.
    However...
    When you execute a query as a statement then toad itself opens the cursor against the database and issues the statement, fetching the rows as they are needed to display in it's interface. You say it takes only about 3 second to run, but the chances are that you haven't scrolled the result window down to the last record, for which I'm sure you'd find it takes a little longer.
    When you execute a query as a script, TOAD passes the query out to be run in SQL*Plus rather than from within TOAD itself. With SQL*Plus, it runs the whole statement fetching all the rows before returning control, the same as if you had scrolled to the end of the result set in TOAD.
    In reality there should be no difference in the time it takes to execute the statements to completion in either environment.

  • Upgraded ROX filer not executing shell scripts

    Hi all,
    I run ICEWM+ROX filer as my lite desktop but after a recent upgrade, ROX does not execute shell scripts on mouse click. It appears that filetype detection has changed so that all scripts are shown with the shellscript icon, whereas before those without a .sh extension where shown with the kde type "cogwheel".
    Any tips much appreciated.
    My thanks in advance!

    I've found a lot of things I don't like about the latest ROX upgrade... too much caching nowadays in my  opinion.

  • PLSQL job and unix shell scripting

    I want to be a plsql developer, now reading job ads for the technical requirement.
    This is a typical plsql job ad:
    "Technically those applying MUST have a minimum 5 years Oracle PL/SQL design and development experience combined with 3 years Informatica/ ETL exposure. You should be comfortable working off Unix platforms and associated *Shell Scripting* and database performance tuning. Experience with vendor products surrounding the compliance area such as Mantas or Actimize is highly beneficial. "
    Generally, do plsql developers work with shell scripting on a basic level, like echoing, saving files, looping etc, well, this level? : Unix Programming for dummies [http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Dummies-James-Edward-Keogh/dp/0764500619|http://www.amazon.com/Programming-Dummies-James-Edward-Keogh/dp/0764500619] . Er...this kind of of shell programming is very easy, why bother even putting the requirement in the ad? It's like saying you need to know primary school maths for the job.

  • How to stablish a bidirectional conversation beetween forms 10g and servlet

    Hello I am investigating how to stablish a bidirectional conversation beetween forms 10g and a servlet. We want to make an application in Java that calls forms but we want that global variables send their values to forms and forms send values to java application.
    If any one can help me with a tutorial o guide.
    Best Regards,
    Paola

    It is possible to call out to Java from Forms starting with Forms 9i.
    It is not yet possible to call back into Forms from Java though. That will probably come in v11.
    You could potentially make a JavaBean that connects to your Java code thru sockets or some other method and place it in the form. That support also came in 9i.

  • Need a sample file for IDQ parameter file and a Shell script to execute it from command line

    Hello,The parameter file itself is generated from cmd line using infacmd command and it automatically creates the parameters inside it based on the parameters created inside the mapping and the workflow. So, even if one provides you a paramtere file for IDQ, it might fail as your workflow definition and its paramters would be different. Thanks,K

    Hi all   My project migrated from Power Center to IDQ developer and I had to move all my mappings to IDQ developer. I was able to migrate everything except for the parameter files. It seems that the layout and syntax for parameter file is different from Power Center. Is there anyone who can help me out or send me a sample of a parameter file for IDQ? As well as a sample shell script to run the mapping or application from the Command line.This is an urgent need and It will be greatly appreciated.   ThanksNaveen Medisetti
