Host static content from Weblogic

I have a need to host static content from my weblogic server in order to mimic the functionality of our old OHS server. In our case we used Apache rewrite rules in our old server that would catch someone trying to access the server directly by URL or trying to come in through HTTP instead of HTTPS and then pull the switch-a-roo on them and direct them directly to our APEX instance over a HTTPS connection. Is there a way to accomplish this same thing with weblogic without an Apache server acting as your front end?
I found this article here http://blogs.oracle.com/middleware/2010/06/publish_static_content_to_weblogic.html about hosting static content but in my case I need the content actually at the root level (example http://domain.com/index.html) where I can throw in javascript redirect headers.
The way I set this up was I have two servers on one box. The first server services standard HTTP requests on port 80. It will do nothing but redirect to the corresponding location on the same machine but over HTTPs on port 443.
The server running on port 443 actually runs the APEX listener. I would like to deploy something similar to the first one that shows its content at https://server.domain.com to redirect to the Apex listener. I thought I might could repackage the apex listener to accomplish this but I would rather do it as a separate deployment rather than risk damaging our modified production copy of the APEX Listener.
Anyone have any thoughts?

What about using a virtual host? Create a virtual host and only target your application to that host.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/apirefs.1111/e13952/taskhelp/virtual_hosts/VirtualHosts.html
Then within that virtual host, do something like this to force HTTPS:
http://weblogicserver.blogspot.com/2009/11/force-confidentiality-for-web.html
Then have an application that catches everything else deployed to the same server for other IP/hostnames and redirects to that virtual host. I haven't tried it, but I think that might do what you're asking about.

  • Serving static content from a directory

    Is it possible to configure WebLogic to serve static content (files) from a directory via an HTTP GET?
    What I need is similar to the Apache functionality of publishing a directory by mapping a URL (http://weblogic.server.xx/somePrefix) to a directory on the file-system (e.g. /path/to/some/dir) and allow one to:
    - list the directory content by visiting the URL
    - fetch files by doing an HTTP GET (this would be by clicking on a file in the listing)
    Can one do this without adding a separate HTTP server on the same machine as WebLogic?

    I believe if you created a WEB-INF directory at that location and added a skeleton web.xml file, you could specify that location when you deployed a new application from the admin console. I believe there should be an option to allow listing the directory contents, perhaps somewhere in the server definition tabs.

  • Exporting Content from Weblogic Portal 8.1.sp2

    I have many developers needing to hare content and content types

    to a UAT environment.
    Any Idea how to export the content and content types.
    Thanks

    I'm assuming both you and I are using UAT to mean User Acceptance Testing?
    A couple of things that come to mind: one is to use shared directories for
    staging and working with simple content in simple ways, you can always use
    the bulk loader to dump content into the WLP repository. Plus you can place
    those shared dirs under source control if you need to. If you are looking
    at more sophisitcated content management and have the need for many complex
    create/review/publish, etc. features, I would recommend looking at a true
    content management system that integrates well with WLP like Interwoven's
    TeamSite or Documentum.
    Hope that's what you were looking for

  • Not loading the Static content from the iPlanet document base

    Hi,
    I have configured I-planet and BEA 7.4 successfully. The document base for my
    iplanet has the pict directory.
    so when i try to access the pict directory from the browser say http://<>/pict/s.gif
    I get a Error 404--Not Found. I believe the web-server should serve my /pict directory
    by itself . Why is it that my requests are going to Web-logic..
    <Object name="hppreg" ppath="*/servlet/*">
    Service fn="wl_proxy" WebLogicHost="xxx.ffc.com" WebLogicPort="7001"

    I assume only the request with the /servlet should go to Web-logic.
    Any help is greatly appreciated
    Thanks,

    The oracle driver library isn't on your classpath. It's normally called something like classes12.zip under the Oracle client installation directory.
    If you're working with Tomcat you need to copy the class library into common/lib and rename it to give it a .jar extension.

    My web service is using soap binding. I have tested it with eclipse and other tools also. It is working well and good. But when I tried to call a web service which is created and hosted on WebLogic server(running on port : 7001), I got the correct output.
    Can anyone help me out in calling a web service hosted on different server from WebLogic server.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi
    1. The way you are invoking the WebService deployed on Tomcat server is looks suspicious. It may be valid by adding extra ?wsdl etc into the url, but still I have not seen this way to invoke the webservice.
    2. So you used Weblogic ant task to generate client JARs by giving this WSDL. So looks like it generated the 4 classes (.java) and in addition any other classes for Request/Response xml objects.
    3. Look at the source code of EchoService.java. It should have one default empty constructor. Internally it uses the default wsdl defined in this class. You will see another constructor that takes WSDL URL as one of the parameters (QName) etc. Echo.java is the class corresponding to the Port. In the same EchoService you should see an instance method like getEcho() something like that. This Echo.java class will have methods for all the Operations defined on this Port. So the standard code snippet we use most of the times will be like this:
    EchoService myEchoService = new EchoService(); // Default it uses WSDL deployed on Tomcat at localhost:8080
    Echo myEchoPort = myEchoService.getEchoPort(); // Something along these lines.
    myEchoPort.xxxYYY(); // NOW this is the operation name that takes the input parameters and returns outputs defined as per the WSDL defintions. If the Input and Outputs are complex xml types, it will have corresponing .JAVA files with setters and getters.
    Now if this WebService is deployed on same Tomcat but on different machine or different port, you just give the full WSDL URL with that host and port in the constructor for new EchoService(...). You may need to instantiate QName object. But look at the methods generated in EchoService.java class.
    The way you are using with Impl and Stubs class may also work. I am not much famiiar with this APIs apporach. Still look at the methods generated in these classes.
    Also if you latest Sun JDK 1.6, it also has one command like wsimport. Infact if you install WLS 10.3 with Sun JDK, it should have C:\beawlp103\jdk160_05\bin\wsimport command. This will also generate client jar given a WSDL URL.
    Thanks

  • Serve up Static Content - configuration?

    Hello!
    How can I configure WEB AS to serve up static files from an external folder? Is there a configuration in WEB AS to map a context to an external folder with static files?
    Thanks
    /Ray

    Hi Ray,
    Eddy's reply refers to setting the option on the ICM. In case you don't use the ICM, but just the Web AS Java, you can do that using the HTTP Provide Service. You can either create a virtual host (this is the term on Web AS Java for virtual directory ) and set your external directory with static content as its root directory. You can refer to the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/0b/fbf5a47928f84e8d0beba8371508e6/frameset.htm">documentation</a> for details about the configuration procedure.

  • Using GZIP Compressed Static Content

    I would like to have all of the Static Content (HTML, JS, CSS) compressed in advance to improve performance. I already have a compression filter for use on Dynamic Content.
    We have managed to compress all of the static stuff using the GZIP format. Currently we have the files following the naming convention of appending ".gz" to the end of each file as in "MyPage.html" becomes "MyPage.html.gz" in the WAR file.
    I was expecting that WebLogic would recognize this convention and automatically serve the appropriate file when the request came in. This doesn't seem to be happening:(
    Is there a configuration mechanism to make this work, or a different convention for handling this problem?

    Your idea should work, so let's walk through it:
    1. Create a new Cocoa Application project
    2. Create a new Objective-C class called "AppController"
    3. Place the following code in the header file:
    #import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
    @interface AppController : NSObject {
    IBOutlet NSPopUpButton *popupButton;
    @end
    4.Place the following code in the implementation file (beware of curly quotes if you cut and paste):
    #import "AppController.h"
    @implementation AppController
    - (void)awakeFromNib
    [popupButton removeAllItems];// necessary to remove "Item 1", etc
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 1"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 2"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 3"];
    [popupButton addItemWithTitle:@"Test 4"];
    @end
    4. Save, and open the nib file in Interface Builder
    5. Drag an "Object" blue cube into the little Finder window, click on it, navigate to its Identity panel on the inspector, and set its class to "AppController"
    6. Open the Window, which should be blank, and drag in an instance of "Pop Up Button"
    7. To make the menu items from the AppController class appear in the popup menu, do the following:
    Control-click on the AppController object and drag a blue line up to the Pop Up Button in the Window.
    8. Save, build, and run.
    That should be enough to at least get the menu items to appear in the popup menu.

  • Serving Portal 8.1 SP2 content from Apache 2.0.43 configured using Plugin.

    Hi Friends,
    Ours is a Portal Enterprise app with 3 portal web apps in 8.1 SP2.
    We are planning to configure 2 Apache HTTP Web Servers as Front End Machines
    (External Load Balancer) with 2 Weblogic Portal back end machines with 4
    Weblogic Portal servers in a cluster.
    The 2 Weblogic Portal Back end Machines will be having the same Domain
    replicated by some means. So When one WL Admin Server is down, then we will
    use the other.
    In reference to this configuration,
    We are using Apache Http Plugin from BEA.
    How can we configure Apache and Weblogic server in order that all the static
    content will be served by Apache and dynamic content by Weblogic Server ?
    I mean to ask suppose I have webapp ,
    what will be correct set-handlers that I have use in httpd.conf and any
    changes to be done in Portal Web app to support this setting ?
    Please explain with example.
    Thanks,
    Karthi.

    Actually, XMLBeans are built into Workshop. Create a schema project and put your XSD into it. The beans will be generated automatically and included in your portal app.

    without having to redeploy the web application? I can always use different

    increases the complexcity of the configuration for weblogic and apache/iis
    Please provide some idea.

    Selvan,
    Here's the info on how to refresh data files without redeploying. In
    6.1, this functionality is included in the release. For 6.0, I believe
    this tool was added in 6.0 sp2 rp2, but I'm not certain. If the tool
    doesn't exist in the version you have, contact support to get the
    correct service pack.
         -- Jim
    WebAppComponents can be refreshed without having to redeploy the whole
    application. any file that doesn't have classloading implications can be
    refreshed. (also known as static data). Examples of files that can be
    refreshed are: .jsp , .html, .gif, .jpg, .xml, .txt etc. Files that
    cannot be refreshed are class files, like ejb's, or other java classes.
    Data refresh in 6.0:
    In 6.0, there is a separate command line tool:
    weblogic.management.tools.WebAppComponentRefreshTool
    that can be invoked either on the command line, or can be constructed
    from within another java application. For information on how to run the
    tool from the command line, run 'java
    weblogic.management.tools.WebAppComponentRefreshTool' with no arguments.
    public WebAppComponentRefreshTool(String adminServerUrl,
    String username,
    String password,
    String appName,
    String compName,
    String[] jsps)
    username - the authenticated user...typically system
    password - the authenticated user's password
    appName - the name of the application (the mbean name)
    compName - the name of the component (the mbean name)
    jsps - an array of files to refresh.
    the appName, and compName are taken from the entries in config.xml. here
    is an example:
    <Application
         Deployed="true" Name="MyApp"
         Path=".\config\mydomain\myapps\MyApp">
         <WebAppComponent
              Name="MyWebAppComponent"
              Targets="managedServer,myserver"
              URI="MyWebAppComponent"/>
    </Application>
    in this case:
    appName would be MyApp
    compName would be MyWebAppComponent
    Data refresh in 6.1:
    refresh in 6.1 works the same way as it does in 6.0, but it has been
    folded into the weblogic.deploy command. you can still do refresh from
    either the command line, or from within a java application, but you can
    use weblogic.deploy to do it.

  • How to update Data Services (ALDSP 2.5) from WebLogic Server 9.2 correctly?

    Hi,
    I need to update some physical data service in ALDSP 2.5 on WLS 8.1 SP6 (8.1.6) via Static Mediator API from WebLogic Server 9.2 MP2 (9.2.2) application. I have reviewed the article about interoperability of ALDSP 2.5 and WLS 9 here:
    http://edocs.bea.com/aldsp/docs25/appdev/ejbclt.html#wp1090900
    Firstly, I had a problems with the interconnection between 9.2 client and ALDSP 2.5 due to some missed methods/classes. Finally, I've added the following libs to my WLS 9.2.2 pre-classpath in such an order:
    MyDSPProject-ld-client.jar (built with Ant script using XmlBeans 2.0)
    wlsdo.jar (from ALDSP 2.5)
    xbean.jar
    xqrl.jar
    wlxbean.jar
    ld-client.jar (from ALDSP 2.5)
    I do the update in the way shown in attached java file.
    After submit method call, I've got two copies of a new item added in the DB and also an exception that is shown in attached log-file.
    What is the possible cause of this issue?
    I use MySQL DBMS version 5.0.45.
    I've also tried MS SQL 2005 but it simply had the same results.
    DSP audit log is also attached.
    Thank you in advance!
    Best Regards,
    Vitalii Tiutiunnyk

    The problem is that your client is WLS server, and WLS server has network class loading disable (for security), and the result from the call requires a class that is not on the client. The call succeeds, but the the network class load for the result fails, and the WLS 9.2 framework (incorrectly) retries the call (and you get either a duplicate key exception or a second row inserted). Putting the server jar in the client classpath solves the problem.
    If you wanted more information or help, you can contact BEA Customer Support and tell them it is regarding the CR I mentioned.

  • Downloading blob content from a custom table

    In our hosted Apex application, the following code from the Application Express Developer's Guide works great for allowing a user to download blob content from one of our custom tables via a download button. However, the code doesn't work on the Oracle Cloud because the "owa_util" package is no longer available. The code is as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE download_my_file(p_file in number) AS
    v_mime VARCHAR2(48);
    v_length NUMBER;
    v_file_name VARCHAR2(2000);
    Lob_loc BLOB;
    BEGIN
    SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, name,DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(blob_content)
    INTO v_mime,lob_loc,v_file_name,v_length
    FROM file_subjects
    WHERE id = p_file;
    -- set up HTTP header
    -- use an NVL around the mime type and
    -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
    -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
    owa_util.mime_header( nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'), FALSE );
    -- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
    htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    -- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
    htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'||replace(replace(substr(v_file_name,instr(v_file_name,'/')+1),chr(10),null),chr(13),null)|| '"');
    -- close the headers
    owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- download the BLOB
    wpg_docload.download_file( Lob_loc );
    end download_my_file;
    Besides using web services, does anyone know of a way to do this? Is there a way to add access to the "owa_util" package in the cloud? I have also tried apex_util.get_blob_file_src but that is also unavailable in the Oracle Cloud.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Following Joel's advice:
    The way I solved this was to split the code between two page processes and one application process. The download button first calls a page process to move the report data into a blob column and then calls another page process which is of "run application process" type. This calls the application level process where the download code, shown below, is called.
    Notice the following changes to the code from the one posted earlier (also from Joel)
    1) added sys.htp.init;
    2) "sys." to all htp, owa and wpg_docload calls
    3) added apex_application.stop_apex_engine; after the wpg_docload statement at the bottom of the script.
    Now the download button launches a "save as" dialog box and the report content is downloaded to the client.
    The code now looks like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE download_my_file(p_file in number) AS
    v_mime VARCHAR2(48);
    v_length NUMBER;
    v_file_name VARCHAR2(2000);
    Lob_loc BLOB;
    BEGIN
    SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, name,DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(blob_content)
    INTO v_mime,lob_loc,v_file_name,v_length
    FROM oehr_file_subject
    WHERE id = p_file;
    -- set up HTTP header
    -- use an NVL around the mime type and
    -- if it is a null set it to application/octect
    -- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
    sys.htp.init;
    sys.owa_util.mime_header( nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'), FALSE );
    -- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
    sys.htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
    -- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
    sys. htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'||replace(replace(substr(v_file_name,instr(v_file_name,'/')+1),chr(10),null),chr(13),null)|| '"');
    -- close the headers
    sys.owa_util.http_header_close;
    -- download the BLOB
    sys.wpg_docload.download_file( Lob_loc );
    apex_application.stop_apex_engine;
    end download_my_file;
    Thanks Joel for your help.

  • Copy static text from one MIF documents to other MIF document

    Hi All,
    I'm trying to copy the text frames and their contents from one document to other document.
    I"m following the bellow steps..!
    1. Open Template1.mif by F_ApiSimpleOpen()
    2. Create new document called "Template2.mif" using "F_ApiCustomDoc"
    3. Import the required formats by
    F_ApiSimpleImportFormats(Template2,Template1,FF_UFF_COLOR |FF_UFF_COMBINED_FONTS |FF_UFF_COND |FF_UFF_DOCUMENT_PROPS |FF_UFF_FONT |FF_UFF_MATH |FF_UFF_PAGE |FF_UFF_PGF |FF_UFF_TABLE |FF_UFF_VAR))
    4. Read the text frames from "Template1" and create new text frame in Template2
         pgfId = F_ApiGetId(FV_SessionId, Template1, FP_FirstFlowInDoc);
         while (pgfid) {
         //     create a new text frame in Template2
              tFrameId = F_ApiNewGraphicObject(Template2, FO_TextFrame, pFrameId);
              objGraphicId = F_ApiGetId(Template1, pgfId, FP_FirstTextFrameInFlow);
         //assigning the properties of text frames
              propspdf = F_ApiGetProps(docIdfrom, objGraphicId);
              F_ApiSetProps(docIdto, tFrameId,&propspdf);
    Till this step, it is working as expected.
    Next I need to read the paragraphs of each text frame and put only static text available in the TEXT FRAMES OF Template1 in newly crated TEXT FRAMES of Template2. But ignore the variables in the text frames.
    I tried to work with the following piece of code
         doc2PgfId = F_ApiGetId(docIdfrom, objGraphicId, FP_FirstPgf);
         doc1PgfId = F_ApiGetId(docIdto, tFrameId, FP_FirstPgf);
         while (doc2PgfId && doc1PgfId)
                   F_ApiDeallocatePropVals(&propspdf);
                   tispdf = F_ApiGetText(docIdfrom, doc2PgfId, FTI_String|FTI_PgfBegin|FTI_PgfEnd);
                   tisspdf = F_ApiGetText(docIdto, doc1PgfId, FTI_String);
                   n=tispdf.len;
                   n1=tisspdf.len;
                   for(i=0; i<tispdf.len;i++){
                         ti = &tispdf.val[i];
                         tiT = &tisspdf.val[i];
                         //compare the text type and handle each text item appropriately
                         switch(ti->dataType){
                         //handle normal free flowing text
                          case(FTI_String):
                           //F_ApiAlert("In String", FF_ALERT_CONTINUE_NOTE);
                           tr.beg.objId = pgfId;
                           tr.beg.offset = ti->offset;
                           trT.beg.objId = tr.beg.objId;
                           trT.beg.offset = tr.beg.offset;
                        F_ApiDeallocatePropVals(&props);

    where am I going wrong? Is there any simple way of doing it?
    How do I go ahead with this? Please help..!
    Thanks,
    Basav

    Hi Michael,
    Thanks for quick reply..!
    There was a piece of code which validates whether the text frame I needed exists or not. I intentionally removed so as to not to confuse the reader.
    Let me give you a clear picture that what I want to do..!
    I've a MIF file and XML file that has the details of text frames and its contents in the MIF. XML looks like
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <MyProjectXML>
    <TextFrame frame="fr18111dd"><P>Basava</P></TextFrame>
    <TextFrame frame="fr224362cc"><P>Prabhu</P></TextFrame>
    <TextFrame frame="fr2547"><P>5 Year Performance (US Dollar)</P></TextFrame>
    </MyProjectXML>
    My MIF file has more than 50  named text frames. Some of them are in XML file, like - fr18111dd, fr224362cc,fr2547. These text frames have the static text,variables and tables. [ Tables I've kept it aside to work later for now]
    What I need -
    Need a MIF file that has frames available in XML file and replace the variables with the values given in <P> tag and keep the static text as it is.
    I'm trying the other way now, Open the MIF file and delete all the text frames except the frames mentioned in the XML file and save as new file.
    Let me know if I'm doing anything wrong here..! That will save my time and effort.
    Am I clear on my query? and what I wanted to achive ? Let me know otherwise..!
    Thanks,
    Basav

  • Recursively publish content from BEA Repository

    Hi.
    Weblogic Portal 9.2, Content Management:
    I have moved all our content from the test system to the production environment using propagation. The test system had versioning enabled and when the content was propagated the workflow status disapeared and all content ended up with status Draft...
    Is there something I can do to recursevely set all content to a published state? There's a lot of content and I don't wanna go through it all again...
    Thanks in advance.

    There is no API or tooling to approve content in bulk, but you could use the existing API to recursively traverse the content by path and approve as you go. We have an enhancement request covering the need for bulk approval.
